Blackstone Front Light/Led

Hello every B,
i would like your feedback to know if your Front-top Led/Light is working?
The Led/Light just near the Top-speaker phone.
because i don't see this Light Flashing.
Thank for your Fdbck.
What LED? The only LED on the device is in the power button.
In the front top, right of the speaker it's the secondary camera.
There is no light on the front as far as im aware.
The small clear plastic next to the speaker is the light sensor i believe.
ahh
this would be the light sensor?

Obviously not!! The number of repeat questions on these forums prove that people don't abide by the rules and check first.
Regarding to the "Getting Started" we ALL recieved with our HD it IS the Light-Sensor
see Page 25 => http://mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC_Touch_HD_User_Manual_English.pdf
have we all established its the light sensor????

Front Camera?

Hello everybody, I was reading about the upcoming Sprint version of the HD2 and it sows that the phone is going to have an 8 megapixel camera in the back and another camera in the front for video calling. Anyways, does the US T-Mobile version have a front camera? I see a whole there where there may be a camera but dont know t for a fact. Please let me know what you guys think.
No front camera.
you know i was thinking the exact same thing,it's right next to the led blinker and i was wondering what its there for. Is there anybody who took this phone apart and explored everything.

Would be nice....but nope The EVO will have a front-facing camera, but the HD2 has no such provision. The two small dots you may see just to the left of the ear speaker are the proximity and light sensors.
Also, even if the HD2 had the camera, it's not much good if the carrier hasn't enabled support on the network.

I believe it has 2 functions, as you stated ambient light sensor. but if you look closely you'll see 2 holes. I believe the other to be an IR emitter that is used to tell when the phone is up against your face and to turn the screen off during a call. It looks for the reflection of the IR off your skin.
Oh ok good, im not the only person to tihnk it is a camera. loll i thought 1 was a proximity and the other the camera. =) cool to know.

Just so you know, that is not a HD2 that sprint is getting... its the Evo 4G. Completely different phone, different os... it just looks similar.
It is a front facing camera!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EcHn5BwESk

Yup, that's on the EVO, one of the features that sets it apart from the HD2, though they're very similar. Sprint is using that to create more desire for their 4G service (which is pretty much necessary for stable 2-way video streaming at any usable resolution)

Whats the 4th sensor on the fron of the galaxy s4.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew what the sensors on the fron of the galaxy s4 are. It obviously has a camera, and one is a proximity sensor. I think one is a light sensor, but whats the 4th?
Anyone know? Is it something for motion tracking? (and if so is there an api for it?)
(On an unrelated note, is there any api for the hover above the touchscreen?)
Thanks. I'm just curious. It seems like these phones have more sensors that there are things to sense lol. (seriously does a phone need a pressure sensor and barometer? )

Sensor for air gestures.
Here. Pretty cool picture with lots of info about the sensors on the GS4. As always, GOOGLE SEARCH FIRST!!

Oh so it does have a dedicated one. People on the internets seemed to think the gestures were combinations of the camera and proximity sensor.
But is there anymore info about it? I would love to know more details. And any api?

[Q] Sensors near earpiece (S4 vs Note 3) Update - Answered

Hello nice boys & girls of xda!
I was thinking of buying a Galaxy S4, but after seeing the Note 3 I've decided that it's just perfect for me.
When I read that the N3 can do all the "Smart" stuff the S4 can do, one question popped in my mind, Why doesn't the Note 3 have the same sensor placement as the S4?
I know there is a Proximity sensor, IR Gesture sensor on both phones & and a front facing camera, but the Note 3 seems to have one less sensor. Anybody else ever wonder why?
Sorry if I'm breaking any xda rules, but this question is really driving me Notes
Update: It looks like the Proximity sensor and IR Gesture sensors are combined on the Note 3. Thanks to ShadowLea and Skander!
You can find the manual here: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=MOBILE_UK&CttFileID=5538735&CDCttType=UM&ModelType=N&ModelName=SM-N9005&VPath=UM/201309/20130916132857484/SM-N9005_UM_EU_Jellybean_Eng_Rev.1.1_130913_Screen.pdf

Never noticed that before maybe it's got better technology in the n3 so Sammy were able to loose one of of them

Hmmm,, I think that could be the case.
Maybe they found a way to add the IR Gesture sensor into the Proximity sensor, which might explain why people are having trouble with the proximity sensor, Because it's arranged in a different way than other phones?
Is it rgb sensor ?
There is a sensor on the left of the earpiece that you can't see but comes on for notifications etc...

It could be. But right now there is still confusion as to whether the N3 even has a RGB sensor.

That's odd. It does have an automatic brightness setting doesn't it?
That sensor is supposed to measure 3 wavelengths of light (Red, Green & Blue) and adjust the brightness of the screen accordingly.
But if there is no RGB sensor then how the hell is it measuring light?
Previous Samsung Galaxy phones had a RGB sensor but they could only measure the Green wavelength of Natural light. But your screen shows that the value for green is zero. I wonder how that is possible. Did you have the auto brightness button ticked while performing this test? Which app is this BTW?
I think Note 3 has proximity and rgb sensors in one hole (or another two sensors in one place).

No, there is. Just open test app (*#0*#) and use "Sensor" button. You will see "Lights Sensor" info with RGB data
How do I start the test app? I tried dialing it, but it doesn't do anything.

Did you use a Samsung dialer?
The Note 3 has an RGB-Sensor. Testing with Test-App show values for RGB.
The Notification LED is there on the Note 3 and the S4, but hidden under the Color-Glass.

Robert
The Proximity and Gesture sensors are now combined, with the light sensor next to it.
That's why it has 1 less sensor opening.

I did, but nothing happens. Let me confirm my steps.
Open dialer (Phone app)
Dial stuff
Hit send?
It actually just dials and tells me I can't make that call. Is there some setting that I need to make sure is set or something?

No need to hit send. When i press last "#" it opens the test app.
Don't know why it doesn't work on your phone

What rom are you using? Did you disable/uninstall factorykeystring program. Or if you are using custom rom is it included.

Do you have an unbranded Note 3? If yes then it should work. I know some carriers remove this stuff from Samsung phones so it doesn't work if you have a carrier specific model.
You are dialing *#0*# right?

It's called the 'manual'.
I know people don't bother reading those antiquated curiosities, but they do occasionally contain valid answers.

as stated, manual.
However you can try this yourself.
open the *#0 test menu and select "Sensors", test the proximity sensor by putting something near it and the page will vibrate and turn green.
Now hide that sensor (activating the proximity sensor) and open the "gesture sensor direction" test (in the same sensor page).
Click start and wave your hand specific directions, it won't work.
Uncover the proximity sensor and try again - it will work.
A simpler way of doing this is turning on air gesture, going to a picture in the gallery, hiding the proximity sensor and attempting to do a gesture.

Why is there an infrared light embedded in the notch?

I don't remember where I saw the photo otherwise I'd post it, but there's actually two sensors embedded in the notch that you can see if bright light is shining into it and from the photo that was shown of the 6T it actually appears one of the "sensors" is indeed giving off infrared luminesce.
It's the proximity sensor
