Is that from the dialog box of Opera 9.5 saving a file? If so, it does that to zips and exes and similar files... Save the file and then browse to it in any file explorer... If it's not, I'm clueless but have a bump

Ive got a question about using ResHacker...what file format do the icons have to be in? Ive got them in .ico also I am trying to put a icon to an application that doesnt currently have one do you know how I can do this in Res Hacker
In SKtools: I'm having problems with the icon format as well...any idea what format its looking for?
I guess I spoke to soon about them running perfect
How to
In ResHacker open file u want to change the icon of, then hit the action button, and then replace icon. However, with some .exe or .dll files u cannot change there icons.
any help on this one. I have shortcut creator and for some reason when i point it to the Lnk file then to the ico file it just makes a duplicate and renames the old .bak. the icons don't change?
I tried the sk iconmaker and it won't show any of my ico files in the folder.
how can you change icons?
Well, You could do it manually. To change the icon of all shortcuts download a registry editor (PHM RegEdit is free and great), Then goto HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\inkfile\defaulticon.Edit the string value "default" to the path to the icon you whant all shortcuts to have. The path must lead to a exe, dll or ico file.

[APP][18.11.2008] Manila2D patcher -> SSMaPa2D version 0.2.2.1 [abadoned/read]

[18/11/2008] SSMaPa2D (Alpha) 0.2.2.1 (18/11/2008)
Hi guys,
simple Manila2D patcher -> SSMaPa2D version 0.2.2.1
this version is only for Manila2D devices! For Manila3D use this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2400995
please test it and let me know if there are bugs…
Patch options:
.) Replace Calender
.) Replace Mail
.) Replace Opera
.) Replace Camera
.) Time Click Man2d
.) Bluetooth Settings
Note: extended Init not possible at the moment. If someone facing UnauthorizedAccessException tell here.
How does it work ?
1.) Copy SSMaPa2D.exe to pda and start it.
2.) Press "Init"
3.) Under settings – click on description line what you want to change
4.) Then change the program what you want in fields below + click on "patch" + "save"
5.) Under deploy – click "Deploy".
After that you can exit the program.
If your files are signed, you're asked if you want to unsign them.
Please note, I didn't find a way to remove the signatures in a 'correct' way. I do an exe-based-deactivating. This is ok, as long as you don't want to resign them. If you want to resign them with your own certificate chose no and do it by hand.
Also I didn't have a manila2d testdevice... So it was a little bit difficult to test the application, but I had a motivator and beta tester
Thank you camel (camro)!
Please donate for me! I'm a apprentice and use a lot of my free time for working on the computer, to be able to create such tools.

if others have same problem, post here and mail me your manila2d.exe...
thank you
I like the idea of this, but I am having a problem. When I select a description to edit and then select the ..., although all folders is selected, not all of them are showing up. I am missing Program Files, Windows, etc. Looking forward to a fix for this.
this is a "file explorer" related problem.
ex:
1.) please check the link file of creating of a "new appointment" on thumbal folder in start menu with a file browser (ex: total commander resco explorer)
2.) copy the string from there then to m2d patcher . the same on paramter - i (have tested it) and it works
@sven - maybe you can post a screen shot of the gui on first posting.

I realize I can create the path manually or copying it from a link, but I would much rather be able to browse to the file I want and have the app create the path . I use Resco File Explorer, so getting the full path is no issue. Thanks.
It seems I can only assign the software in the storage card. Is there any way for me to assign the software in the main memory ?

you can copy the software the every location and you can start the software from every location.
if you need this very often - create a link to the exe and move it to your start menu folder - thats it

enter only the exepath, then do the arguments in argument box.

Ok, I guess I can make you easier here. Download the attachment and unzip and copy inside 2 files (you should choose "show all files" option when using the file explorer) into \windows.
After that, go to Settings/System tab, then you should see "File dailog Changer". Enter the software, and choose the "Exchange Standard File Dialog, click "add". Now it should trigger the shield feature of file browser for SSMAPA2D now.
Now you can assign the software as you want by using SSMAPA2D.

Cannot install programs into my SEX1

There r some programs that I've installed into my devive. However it;s XML files when u open them. Now what applications do I need to open them? Appreciate if somebody could help.
I think you have .cab files.
So, you don't have to open them: just put them in your phone and run them
When I open the program files, it said I have to run d applications first. But then
what application is it referring to?

Could you be a bit more specific? Which programs, filenames etc?
xml is just text it's not a real program

opera memory problem

good day
can someone tell me how to move the cahe folder of opera browser from the phone memory to the card memory i have an hd blackston wm 6.1
thanks
Hi there,
you can try the following (sourced from mobilitysite.com):
Move data and cache around to save memory
By default Opera installed a bunch of files and keeps cache in precious application data space (RAM). At least with the WM2003se version. By moving all of these files to a CF Card or SD memory stick you free up valuable RAM.
1) Edit the "Opera.ini" file located in "\Application Data\Opera"
2) Go to the "" group
3) Change "Opera Directory=\Application Data\Opera" to a location that you would prefer such as "\cf card\opera"
4) Change "Help Directory=\Application Data\Opera\Help" to a location that you would prefer such as "\cf card\opera\help"
5) Move the following files and folders to the location that you specified above:
cach4 (folder)
help (folder)
imgcss (folder)
startpage (folder)
styles (folder)
chartables.bin
cookies4.dat
global.dat
opcacrt6.dat
opera.dir
oprand.dat
opssl6.dat
viger.dat
vlink4.dat
You are left with these files/folders in "\Application Data\Opera"
skin (folder)

Try connecting via Activesync on your PC to locate the Opera.ini file, not through File Explorer, Resco Explorer, or Total Commander. If you still cannot find the file, on your PC, go to the Control Panel, Folder Options. In Folder Options on the View tab, under Hidden Files and folders, select the Show Hidden Files and Folders radio option, click OK.
1.Connect your phone to your computer, and connect to ActiveSync.
2.Open the ActiveSync window, then click the Explore Device button.
3.Navigate to \Application Data\Opera 9.x.
4.Find the opera.ini file (If you don't have file extensions enabled, it should just show as "opera".)
5.Copy the file to your desktop.
6.Open the file in a text editor, such as Notepad. Immediately do a File>Save as and rename the file to something other than opera.ini. This is your backup, just in case.
7.Now open the original opera.ini file. Scroll down to the section and insert the following line: Cache Directory4=\Storage Card\operacache\. (Note: "operacache" can be renamed to anything you want.) Save and close the file.
8.Copy the new file back to your device, into the same \Application Data\Opera 9.x.
I'm not aware of any other ways to get around this.

Hi Abiis,
Yes. Unfortunately, this will affect the speed of your browser. I'm not saying you should try this, all I have done is posted a possible solution in reference to your query. I personally wouldn't recommend putting the cache on the storage card as this will result in slowing down the browser and possibly make it crash more often.
It is entirely up to you whether you try this but if you do not want a slow and laggy browser, then I would suggest you avoid doing this.
Good luck

[Q] Hide From Gallery

I have created a folder on my external sd card named Movies.
I use Moboplayer, and have pre-set it to only view that folder when opened. But, after viewing any of the files in the sd card folder, the folder and files are displayed in Gallery. How can I prevent that from happening?
Or, put another way, I want to store some video files on my external sd card
and want to be the only one who is able to view them?
create a file in that directory called .nomedia that will prevent it being scanned by Gallery
Thanks, I'll try that later today and report back.

As a beginner with Android, I'm not sure I know how to do what you said to do.
Can you please tell me the easiest way to create that file? Thanks again.
Sure. Open an adb shell. Change to the directory you want the file in. Type "touch .nomedia "
Press enter
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
As an Android beginner, I have no idea what or how to use and adb shell.
Does it require that the Tab be Rooted?
Can I use a file manager like Astro?
Can I open the folder on my win xp desktop and create the file om the sd card with windows explorer?
Sorry to be so dense here, but, I am trying to learn what to do.

Get the free ES File Explorer from the store. You can do all the MS Windows-esque file management with that.
What is going to prevent someone else from launching Mobo and seeing the same files that you do?
I do have ES File Explorer installed, and didn't find a way to create a new file in that folder. Can you please suggest what to do when I get to the folder in question? Thanks.
As for your question about others using Mobo, is there a way to password protect a give app?

Ok, es 101: the key to finding everything is the menu button that spears on the dock in es. From there you can select new> folder.
android/linux 101: any file or folder named starting with a period is deemed "hidden". An example would be a folder called .media. Because the name behind with a period, it is now hidden. To show hidden file, go into es file explorer settings, and check "show hidden files"
...and if you don't want to play with renaming folders every time, try Hide It Pro from the market. You set a password that is required to open the app. It disguise itself as a fake audio manager. You just need to browse to the file you need to hide and select "share with audio manager". There's a really good guide inside the app when you install it but its rather simple Works great on Iconia.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.smartanuj.hideitpro&feature=search_result
It also displays adds but its free and your hidden content is just a "click" away You can hide any file type compared to Photo Vault and Video Vault (they support only several file formats and they are paid apps)
Use a file manager such as astro, and change the format of the video to a format that doesn't exist by renaming it, for example: video.avi ----> video.uitpo, then the video won't be shown in gallery or anywhere else, and whenever you wanna view the video just change the format back to what it was.

I have created a file in my directory named .nomedia
But, when the Acer is powered off and started up again, all the files in this directory show up in the Gallery again. That approach doesn't seem to work for me.
