Post Photos Taken by Your Athena/U1000/Advantage/Ameo - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

I realize the phone only came out a couple of days ago, but me and probably a lot of other people on this forum would like to know the quality of the Athena's 3 Megapixel camera. Having said that , post pictures taken by it !

OK SupraSkylineSTI. I've done a few, but because most of them are personal family pics of my kids, I can only upload a few for now, but definitely more in the week.
Now bear in mind these are the default settings and all I have changed in the camera menu settings is 'half press' as opposed to the default 'Full Press', as full press requires you to have very steady hands. Also photos have not been altered in any way, just resized according to forum rules.
I actually have to admit, that these are the best photos by far that I have seen taken by a HTC designed PPC/PE. I'm sure with some settings tweaking, they can be much improved. Nokia or SE camphone it is not, not even comparable, but bloody good all the same. Colour reproduction is also very good and accurate for outdoor shots. All 3 photos were taken in Auto mode, so changing the setting to the appropriate one is sure to improve things a little.

Thanks for your contribution man !!!!
Can you upload one full-size photo of something, so we can truly see camera quality ?

pictures taken with HTC P3600

hi,
i know the HTC is not one of the best Cam Phones...
but im just curious how good/bad the pictures you take with a P3600 are. (dont have one of my own... yet)
ive looked around at some forums, but i could find pictures taken with the p3600
would someone show me some different kinds.. ( daylight, night, far, close etc.)
thanks
does really no one wants to place a few pics here...
or is that to much to ask
Please search "HTC Trinity review" (with google or other search engine). Most reviews have pictures taken with the camera. Not extraordinary but more on the "ok"ish side
1 photo
Let me help you with the photo I attach here.
Its full resolution of 2 Mb.
As you can see, poor quality, the pixelation it's important,
the light control is very basic (white it's easily burned) ...
Anyway, its the best PDA-Phone !
If you look for a good camera, take a real Camara (Nikon, Sony, ...)

I agree the camera is definitely not the best feature of this phone. I find pictures to be even worse than those taken with my old Qtek S200, which is strange as I think there's the same camera in both devices.
I find making adjustments using the built-in tools can make very good pictures indeed. It's just a little fiddly to get the correct exposure.
Do a google search for the p3600 review on mobile-review.com. for some reason you cant access the review from the review archive on the site, only by finding it through google... unless they have changed it. Anyhow, there is an english translation of everything on this russian site, so find that and you will see a compreshensive review including multiple photos taken on this phone.

Wonderful Pictures and Videos from HD2

Really? How do you rate the HD2 Quality overall from 1-5?
I love it, just the screen quality, size and contrast make my friends lust over the phone especially when I'm in picture mode.
I love the screen but the actual camera doesnt seem to do it justice, the old photos on my sd card, taken on my N95 on the other hand look fantastic on the HD2 screen
I also love the camera on this
After having BB's for so long I am quite happy to have a decent camera to take those on the fly pics...look at the quality you can actually see the bee in the middle of the pic!

No change, Im a dumbass, I already had this enabled. I stand by my original statement.
Love have a camera that is useable in your pocket.
These are my thoughts about the camera.
As longs as there is a lot of light they are pretty good, but when you are forced to use the led flash or dont use it in low light I say the pictures arnt any good.
My old camera a sony ericsson k810i had a xenon flash. It could take awsome pictures in the dark.
What are your thoughts on low light fotography with the HD2? I would really like to tweak it so it improves.

Are they tips #16 and #56? I just checked and they already there in my current rom, Laurentius26. Maybe I will try to take some photos again

If I would rate I would say 3-3.5 it is a good cam for just shooting some nice pictures outdoor. Video quality is pretty good in my opinion to. Shooting in the dark if you keep it in your hands without moving you get good pictures (for example in a bar). But it quite difficult to keep it steady espescially when you have drinken some alcohol . But at daylight you can take good macro for example documents.
Overall I would say a good outdoor shooter. But that is not very special for the camera's at the moment.

Incredible Sunsets...

Here are some i've taken tonight, I take alot of sunset photos, with different settings just to see the outcomes. I did the same and still do the same with my Omnia and with my Digital Cameras to.

8 MP Superior Auto vs 15 MP Superior Auto

Hi everyone,
As i have rooted my Z2, i was able to install Xposed Framework. In Xposed Modes i found a mode which 'force' camera to use full 20 mp (or 15 mp in wide shot) in Superior Auto Mode. I have taken some pics to compare quality but couldn't understand anything. As i know, many of you guys are very interested in photography and know a lot about it, i decided to share some pics with you and let you decide which is better. Here's the link of 4 pics, 2 of them in 8 mp and 2 with 15 mp. (The names of the files indicate 'MP'): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vvpghc7w187b1ia/_uUAk9NFry
Can provide more shots if needed.

Great effort. Somehow I noticed the 15 mp has a wider angle. Generally they look very close and still very good quality for both, maybe different lighting conditions and in daylight too maybe easier to distinguish which is best.
There is a great discussion on quality 8MP and 20MP. Many say 8Mp is better than 20MP, which contain more vivid colors. This video explains a little about!
We could try posting pictures!

Somehow I knew you were going to say that.
The reason I felt brash enough to say something is because half of all my posts since I've been here have been on that exact topic in other threads that explain in detail what is lost and what isn't. I know for a fact there's info available to answer your question without changing the topic of this thread. I'd link them for you but I'm about to watch Game of Thrones.... And don't get so bent out shape, I'm sure you've scolded more than one person in your long tenure here.

You motivated me to finally put up an avatar.
From my tests and I've done a lot of them since I got the phone last month.
8mp in manual mode with my own settings produced the best results in all lighting conditions. Focusing for me is the z2's greatest problem and one which gets worse the more you increase the resolution.
From the watch photo the OP posted, you can clearly see that the 8mp sample is better focused. At 8mp, everything is better, detail preservation, focus, contrast and dynamic range. Yes you can't zoom in as far as you can with the 15 and 20.7mp snaps but the quality is noticeably better.

Thanks, very interesting!
Quality is comparable, actually at certain shots SA at 8MP is maybe a more consistently detailed, 15MP is sometimes a little noisier and I don't see much quality edge.
Where this can be very useful however is shooting large resolution full 4:3 frame SA images, as on stock we're limited to 8MP @16:9. It makes sense to give the full 4:3 option, and I'd love to see some 8MP vs. 20MP SA comparisons, if you have the time. :good:

Photography tutorial for the Sony Xperia Z1

Hey XDAers!
I noticed that a lot of people were interested in photography with the Sony Xperia Z1. I'm a hobby photographer and a couple of people seem to appreciate my photography with it.
That's why I decided to share this with you:
A tutorial about the BASICS of your Sony camera phone
A tutorial about the more ADVANCED features
I hope you guys find this useful!
Happy snapping; try something different and creative; keep checking out that blog for more (general) photography tips and most importantly: have fun!

Those Sony Lenses (QX10 or QX100, or the newer variants of which I forgot the model names) are separate cameras meaning that they have their own sensor and software.
It's therefore unrelated to the Xperia Z1's camera and algorithms of course. I'm not sure what you're asking about actually, with these lenses. You can always find people who have tried the lenses (or rather cameras) via Google, to see test shots for example. Again, they're unrelated to the device they're used with anyway
Thank you for all the effort
Great articles Herman, you've clearly spent a great deal of time and effort - thank you for that.
My one gripe with the camera is the spot metering. It would be so good if you could touch the screen to say "meter on this" rather than in the centre. A bit like the touch focus. I guess you'd need some setting to say what to do if the user touched an area on the screen (meter or focus or both).
I previously asked Sony to tell me what was the difference between spot and center metering and they gave me the usual answer - please try repairing your firmware - which was pretty lame.

That's actually a hilarious reply from Sony, in my eyes. Kind of reminds me of the high 10 guy meme.
Thanks for liking the articles! Right now I feel like I've missed a couple of things however, like a more elaborate explanation on Night Mode versus other modes. On your issue: I'm more concerned with other issues like how you have to re-set the ISO after choosing a scene mode or not being able to set shutter speed or shoot in RAW, rather than the metering mode. It is of course a really useful feature to have, but it's a minor one compared to these others, in my opinion.
If I were taking a guess about the spot and center metering is that it's the same as with my canon dslr. Only Sony left out an important keyword that describes it nicely : center WEIGHTED. Meaning that as opposed to average metering which takes the average of the whole frame it will rather focus on a circular section in the center section of the frame. Maybe somewhere there is a tech spec that can disclose how big an area that circle takes. Spot should do what it said. Takes a reading of the object under the meter area which can be the middle of the frame.
On a decent camera you would do a spot meter on the object, lock your exposure and then reframe your shot, focus and take the pic

I'm quite frustrated taking photos near sunset, when the lighting is more favorable, because all of the light sources in the image create long streaks of flaring (as in the sample)
Is there something wrong with my camera?
I've tried adjusting EV, and scene modes, but the flaring is still there.
Any ideas?
