pictures taken with HTC P3600 - P3600 General

hi,
i know the HTC is not one of the best Cam Phones...
but im just curious how good/bad the pictures you take with a P3600 are. (dont have one of my own... yet)
ive looked around at some forums, but i could find pictures taken with the p3600
would someone show me some different kinds.. ( daylight, night, far, close etc.)
thanks

does really no one wants to place a few pics here...
or is that to much to ask

Please search "HTC Trinity review" (with google or other search engine). Most reviews have pictures taken with the camera. Not extraordinary but more on the "ok"ish side

1 photo
Let me help you with the photo I attach here.
Its full resolution of 2 Mb.
As you can see, poor quality, the pixelation it's important,
the light control is very basic (white it's easily burned) ...
Anyway, its the best PDA-Phone !
If you look for a good camera, take a real Camara (Nikon, Sony, ...)

I agree the camera is definitely not the best feature of this phone. I find pictures to be even worse than those taken with my old Qtek S200, which is strange as I think there's the same camera in both devices.

I find making adjustments using the built-in tools can make very good pictures indeed. It's just a little fiddly to get the correct exposure.

Do a google search for the p3600 review on mobile-review.com. for some reason you cant access the review from the review archive on the site, only by finding it through google... unless they have changed it. Anyhow, there is an english translation of everything on this russian site, so find that and you will see a compreshensive review including multiple photos taken on this phone.

Comparison photos: Universal vs Canon 2 MPixel camera

Uploaded to a new thread cos they were screwing up another thread on a different topic...
The comparison camera: My 4 year-old Canon Ixus 300
This is how far behind the pace the Universal's camera is...
Lets be honest though, the universal isnt really marketed for having a great camera. Its good for taking quite snapshots, but if your are that serious about taking pictures, get a nokia N90 or a digital camera. Its not really the camera what is bad, its just the really bad, plastic lens what is.
Can your 4 year old Ixus make phone calls, browse the web, check your emails, listen to music, watch movies?!?!
I was going to post comparisons about how far behind my alienware laptop my Universal is when playing Halflife, but I couldn't get it to run on my Universal
lol - OK, don't take this out of context please.
Someone in another thread was curious about the camera's abilities,
so I posted these pics as an illustration, but they screwed up the other
thread so I moved them to a new one. (See? They're even screwing
up this one too! ) Maybe the pics are useful for people who are
curious about the Universal's camera.
The camera quality isn't the reason why someone would buy the
Universal (understatement of the year!), but people will be interested
to know just how good/bad it is. This thread is an objective
demonstration just for them. 8)
I carry a nice 3.2 MPx Casio Exilim S100 - small, loads of useful features and otherwise fills the camera niche. The Exec replaced my P900 + x50v setup. I now use the x50v for development testing.
No probs for me using the universal for photos!!
Sorry guys. I'm quite happy with my jasjar for photos (considering it ain't a dedicated digitl camera!!)
I'm sure that HTC could really put a better camera on the Universal and in all WM devices; the problem is that they don't care ....they have so much space that they can put the K750 i sonyericsson camera module
If you have a look at the first comparison shots at the top of the kitchen, the Universal shot is clearer than the canon shot, look at the clock on the stove, the universal shot is clearer, you can hardly read the canon pic.

Two of the pictures (the small ones) are taken at the same resolution
so that we can directly compare them! The Canon shot is a thumbnail.

If thats the case, then its alright. I dont like people dissin the device cos it doesn't take great pictures. No device on the market does what the jasjar can do, n i dare someone to argue with me on that
Sorry if we hijacked your thread.
can somebody post more pictures??? especially those taken with bad lighting conditions....
a couple pics in pitch dark, with the flash turned on...along with night mode on would be great too!

Mate you should see the quality of pictures from the SE K750i they are really fantastic. Also the K750's battery lasts my wife 7 days and it is on 24hrs a day. So no competition for the JJ/Exec but makes you think
Like universaldoc wrote there is no other device like the universal, some phones might have a better camera but can they log into your computer on the other side of the world and fully control it..... The answer is clearly NO....... What is being said here is the Universal, despite its little problem, is a Phone/PDA in one that does is all. We will have better in the future but at this present time there is no comparison to anything Ericsson can make and that goes for in the future with Ericsson.
@seal, I know what is being said but not everyone wants all the features of the Universal. For me I still to use my PSP for videos over my Exec and I prefer the music reproduction of my Nokia 9500 (OGG) and Palm LifeDrive (DRM) over the Exec; the Exec music reproduction is very bass light.
I think that the camera is pretty ok with right settings...
@jah,
I agree that the camera is better on the SE K750i, probably the best after the Sharp V203SH.
But i just feel that it is rather unfair to diss the Universal based on the camera. As i have said before, if camera is a criteria for considering the universal, then i am speechless.
Just to make myself clear, i would have purchased the universal even if it did NOT have a camera

OK SupraSkylineSTI. I've done a few, but because most of them are personal family pics of my kids, I can only upload a few for now, but definitely more in the week.
Now bear in mind these are the default settings and all I have changed in the camera menu settings is 'half press' as opposed to the default 'Full Press', as full press requires you to have very steady hands. Also photos have not been altered in any way, just resized according to forum rules.
I actually have to admit, that these are the best photos by far that I have seen taken by a HTC designed PPC/PE. I'm sure with some settings tweaking, they can be much improved. Nokia or SE camphone it is not, not even comparable, but bloody good all the same. Colour reproduction is also very good and accurate for outdoor shots. All 3 photos were taken in Auto mode, so changing the setting to the appropriate one is sure to improve things a little.
Thanks for your contribution man !!!!
Can you upload one full-size photo of something, so we can truly see camera quality ?

info about Touch HD photos with 5mp camera

Hi to all.
I'm curious to see any sample photo taken with Touch HD. Someone can post here any photos?
...they are too big to be included in the forum (VGA limitation)
host on photobucket, imageshack, or tinypic.
I have been waiting for the sample pic for a long time
we have all been waiting for the sample pics
hope they post them soon
in the test on http://www.areamobile.de they also postet some sample pictures
Photo Quality
Can anyone who has the HD comment on the quality of the camera?
From reviews I've read it seems it's not as good as other 5mp devices, but I would think it would be a massive improvement to that of the Touch, Cruise, Diamond... (in respect to frame rate and photo quality, not just increased size)??

I can not compare it to the Diamond, but to recent Nokia phones, the Iphone and my LG Viewty. And i personally think, the pictures are better and have better colours. also when taking pictures in a room, where the light is not that good for cams it seem to take bright and clear pictures. (you may remember the pictures they took on this french site one month ago. the Iphones pictures where pretty dark and red, while the same pictures taken by the HD where bright and clear)

They have used a cheep plastic lens....
So typically HTC.. they want to make a phone with all the top feautures on paper... and spend a lot of money on parts to do that.... while trying to save some money on the not so important parts (according to Htc) and then they ruin a lot of the performance of the phone because they want to save a few bucks....

[QUESTIONS] APN, Fluidity, Screen

Hey all, and especially the lucky owner of HD 2.
I am wondering about several stuff about the HD 2 (i got the HD1)...
First,
In the past, i had a SE (now cost around 70 €) and the APN was really better than the one on the HD1. I mean, it was easy to make photo even with lack of luminosity, and a small move at the moment the picture was taken, wasn't making the picture blurred.
That's something i am really missing on my HD1, an average APN. What do you think about it? Did they improve the APN, or is it still a **** APN, like on all the HTC device ?
Important : I am not hoping to have good pictures like with a reflex APN, I am just wondering if the HTC HD 2's APN (600€) was finally as good as (or better) a ****ty SE (70€).
Second,
Compared to the HD1, do you think it's a big improvement? What about the fluidity, is it really improved compared to the HD1?
Third,
When i use an iPhone, i've got real difficulties to write, due to the small and the capacitive screen. I am from the HD1, and I was loving the screen. Is it still easy to write message with the HD2 keyboard & screen?
Finally
Thank you very much. Really sorry for my english, i hope it's understable..
video/pics demo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-XoUL7nUpA&feature=player_embedded
Thank you, but it's not answering me at all.
All the pictures are taken in sunny conditions. The HD1, with a lot of luminosity took excellent picture. What about middle luminosity & darkness condition ?
Thank you
im just a little messenger with an old topaz ... xmoo was going to test in different conditions using a HD1 and a HD2 thouh, so i guess we'll have to wait for the results
sony ericssons phonecamera on the k810i was almost better than our home camera in good conditions, they do real good cameras...
cheers!
Yes it's easy to type on the screen because it is huge! It's almost as fluid as the iPhone and it is blazing fast. In comparison to my old raph it's a big difference. Sorry where that you questions?
Edit: I think your APN question is about the led (or camera steadiness). The led is good, I'm not overly impressed with the picture quality but I havent tested it very thoroughly,
12
Edit 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-XoUL7nUpA&feature=player_embedded
My real main question is about the APN.
With my SE, it was easy to make photo even with lack of luminosity, and a small move at the moment the picture was taken, wasn't making the picture blurred. With the HD1, it's making this, what about the HD2 ?
Check out the you tube film and judge for yourself,
12
No, because the youtube film is in sunny condition.
The HD1 was a really good APN in sunny condition, but directly there were a small lack of luminosity, it was blurring the picture.
I am awaiting for the ximoo comparative picture, hope it's coming soon..

To be fair, phone cameras are never going to be that amazing guys.
If you really care about good camera quality, buy a small digital camera.
OH MY GOD !
It's always the same stupid answer...
As said in the post 1, I am coming from a Sony Ericsson before the HD1 which had a really GREAT APN compared to the HD1. I am asking if the HD2 finally got a decent APN as CHEAP SonyEricsson phone, and not if i want to buy a small digital camera !
UP...
Any news about the APN? Does someone having the HD2 made some test compared to the HD1 ? Mainly in darkness condition ?
Thank you
What's this "APN" thingie you keep talking about? Do you call the camera "APN" or is it some camera's feature/spec?
"Zepiii" please explain what is "APN" ?
You start a thread or post a question several hd2 threads about "APN"... But nobody knows wtf is it..
I think you mean "auto white balance", "iso sensivity" or something like that.. I'm google it last 10 minutes but no luck... (Believe me, 10 minutes for googling (!) is very loong time for me...)
Please enlight us about "APN"...

Well I dont care too much for the camera, I have an iPhone at the moment and that one takes terrible pictures also. Those pics are only good for looking back on the phone itself. If you transfer them to your pc, they look really bad.
Oh yeah sorry !
APN is french, i totaly forgot !
APN = camera !
Well, if I've learned anything today (and I haven't) I am going to go about calling every single camera I come across from now on an APN. I like it.
I thought he was talking about a wifi access point

htc hd2 camera samples (purely amazing + tips to better pics)

hi all i have taken about 4hours today testing the camera to the end of my will, now i hope this thread will help other and i intend to include pics of every content and do a full review of the htc hd2 camera but here's a few samples while i get the review on the way
TIPS FOR BETTER PICTURES
- turn off wide-screen in the settings for true 5mp, if u have it on u get lower res Normal screen = 2592 x 1944 / Wide-screen = 2592 x 1552
- set white balance to the sunny settings in all condition not auto or u will get weird colors with most of ur pics (see samples below)
SAMPLE PICTURES UNEDITED - 5mp + very fine mode + touch focus + sunny (not auto whitebalance)
click for full res, untouched quality
the above pics where static objects great focus
now to compare auto whitebalance to sunny none auto setting all pics still full res, untouched quality
auto settings -------/------- sunny setting
the above pics where static objects great focus
auto settings -------/------- sunny setting

Thanks for your samples....
...the pictures seem to show a great deal of sharpening on them. Did you apply that in post-prod, or is it done automatically in-camera?
Also, as soon as I get my HD2 (which has been stuck in a post office all week-end... grrrr!!!!!), I will try to take a reference picture of a netural gray card, and then subtract it from real-life photos using photoshop. This should really get rid of the magenta color cast in the middle of each photo, though it would be a pain to have to do this extra step for each picture one wishes to keep...
Purely amazing? For me these look barely usable, but then I'm coming from an i8910, so I guess it depends on what you're used to...
If those are unusable then I'd like to see the pics the i8910 can produce, as to me the top pictures in macro mode look pretty good for a HTC camera
EDIT: Ok so for fun I decided to look up what the i8910 can do and ....wow!
Oh well, I rarely take pics with a phone so the HTC camera will have to make do
Those who come from WM phones the HD2 produces some of the best images and videos. At least there is a substantial improvement from the predecessor Touch HD.

hi mate some pointers,
1) Samsung i8910 OmniaHD = 8mp camera and omnia camera are good
2) we need to see full unedited pics to compare noise
good pics though
For me it looks like the HD2 Camera-App uses very agressive noise-reducing. Thats why Pictures look more fuzzy with lack of fine details.
Some users tell that this can be avoided by increasing the sharpnes in the camera-settings.
Please, some HD2 retail user can do this and post some more pictures here?
Yes that is true but megapixels only tells half the story, it's mostly down to the quality of the lens. I could find you similar examples taken with a 5MPx camera from Nokia...
Anyway here are much larger images. They're not full size but I doubt you'll find much noise in these images.
http://forum2.mobile-review.com/showthread.php?t=81427&page=31
Scroll to about mid point.
They might be a big improvement for a HTC device, but they are very much inferior to the photos from my old N95, or even my original Fuji 3MP digital camera.
Photos from an i8910 or a Satio are in a completely different league.
Still, I guess I should be grateful that HTC have made some improvement in this area, and I'm not actually buying the phone for it's photo taking ability.
Bagpuss.

Red tint in center
I notice a red tint in every sample pictures or videos taken with HD2 (I don't have one, seeing samples). Is this true or I need an eye check?
Amazing?
This pics looks like ****. At 100% have a lot of noise, bad colors and a constant pink tint in the center of the screen.
The camera of the HD2 is a really disaster like all the others of HTC.
Still though, they show improvement from previous HTC outings, for which I'm grateful.
geo tagging
Hi guys, I can't find the settings to turn geo tagging on when taking pictures, is it not possible with this phone?
Im talking about embeding location data on the image exif, I use to have nokia phones in the past, n96, n82, n95..
footprints is neat but I don't see it adding gps information on to the photo,
example of this use is when you upload images to flickr the gps location shows up on flickr.
any info on this appriciated
I think if you check the tweaks thread there is a post about turning on Geotagging.
If its not there try searching, I know I've seen at post on this in the last couple of days.
EDIT: Its in the tips thread (now stickied).
hi their focus is weird as touch focus is on which activates (spot focus) so u will notice because that the middle of the pics are focused and the rest isnt as the pics where at such close distance to the object, i will try and show the other focus modes soon

Absolutely FALSE. Pictures taken with TouchHD are by far sharper and with much better definition for details. Just take a look at those shots:

And then.. take a look at this picture taken by the HD2.. utterly blurred, just look at the trees..

I suppose, however, that part of the problem can be overcome by just removing the plastic protection from the front of the camera.. like we did with HTC Kaiser...
