Sending Email - MDA Compact II General

Hi
am running a charmer with WM5 (obviously).
I have set up pop3 accounts with both yahoo and tiscali and have been using these successfully, if minimally for a while. Recently I have not been able to use my PC and have been hoping to use my device to send and receive email. This has not been the case. For the past week the device will receive full emails from both yahoo and tiscali. When I try to send email via the yahoo account I get a message telling me that my device can't download email and to check my connection and settings and try again. My connection and settings are fine. I have not tried with the tiscali account as yet as I don't really use it anyway.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
The link bellow will take you to a Modaco forum thread that I think is discussing the same thing.

GMail

How can I configure both my Jasjar and my GMail account to keep all my e-mails on my Jasjar everytime it attempts a send and receive? At the moment it just wipes them clear, leaving me up the creek without so much as a paddle.
Vanishing GMAIL
...bizarre - was just about to post the same question. This is very frustrating! You have to be quick to read your mail, as when the device performs another send and receive it wipes ur inbox!
I used to use Gmail with a POP account with ActiveSync Email with Hotmail with Text and with MMS all coexisting simultaneously and have never had the problem you indicated, all my mails remain until I delete them of my own accord.
Sorry I am not much help. I recently stopped syncing my Gmail as it just didnt get used, I now only use it to store my emails that I want to keep for a long long long time and use my hotmail account for every tom **** and harry that wants an email address
I just simply followed the steps on the gmail website to setup and never lost any.
I've just had a little play and it seems that it might have something to do with what happens to the e-mail on the GMail servers once it's been downloaded using POP.
I have been using POP to access my GMail account and I agree with Simon_Darley... it all works fine.
I use Gmail as a spam filter from various email addresses I have.... I copy (autoforward) all mails from all my different email addresses automatically so it filters the spam, and keeps the mails safe for me so I have an archive of all my incoming messages in one place.
I'm happy to compare settings if you want me to help
This has ALWAYS worked for me:

and yes I do exactly the same as Budgie... forward any other email account to my Gmail...
I've got it sorted. I had to change it to keep all of the e-mails in the inbox once they'd be downloaded using POP; made sense really.

I have used the settings above and can receive my mail but I can't send GMail, all I get is the following message...
"Unable to connect to the incoming mail server. Verify that the server name is correct then try again to send and receive mail."

yes if you follow the instructions and configure correctly sending/receiving works perfectly...
Don't you have Pocket MSN ?
Make sure you turn off the setting which deletes mails over 3 days old. This setting seems to be the default. Also have your gmail keep a copy of the messages and not delete them. (You have 2GB on gmail so its not much of a problem.)
You can also send email using gmail, just use the settings they give you (smtp.gmail.com I think?) and make sure you have SSL enabled.
Hello,
i have created a threat in the wizard forum, and now i see you have these problems too.
My wizard delete ALL Mail in Incoming when i send a mail. Whats the Reasen for this? Damn i want to keep my mail!
what worked for me is :
option 3/3
get message headers only
include 999kb of message body
using this setting I can send & receive when I want without losing my mail.
Damn jag_freeman you are the best!!! How do you get this idea??? But it works!!!!!

Email - leave message on the server?

I have just received a Vario11 and setting up email I see there is no setting for this in the same way there is in Outlook desktop versions or Outlook Express.
Searching the forum and wiki, there are lots of posts about this, but they all seem to be inconclusive.
My only experience so far has been with a Dell PDA winmob5 and I'm sure it had this setting.
I am using pop3 email from an account the same as you would get from Freeserve and many others. I want to be able to ensure all mail received on the account gets to the desktop at some point, and only when travelling with the Vario will it be downloading email and replying/sending. Sent messages would be nice to get onto the desktop as well instead of having to copy the email to myself.
Testing it; I just tried downloading an email on the Vario and a copy seemed to stay on the server which I have been able to download to the desktop. So maybe it is default set to always leave on the server.
But what happens with active sync? I'm reluctant to test this without more understanding of what goes which way and what happens if messages are deleted on either device.
My desktop Outlook pst is approaching 1gb, so maybe I need to achive and tidy it up before I sync?
Is there a comprehensive post anywhere, or a good website that spells all this out?
Any other recommendations for use in my situation would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hi, I use gmail, and there is a setting on the prefrences at the gmail site to keep messages on the server and most by default do, I don't use active sync to sync my mail, so I get mail on my tytn with gprs, and if I had a home pc connection, I could just run my mail client on the desktop to check my mail, and I would have all the same messages, not sure if that was what you were wanting to accomplish or not.

I found that downloading leaves email on the server. However, deleting mail on the HTc TyTN, also deletes the mail on the server at the next download.

Unable to send emails in Pocket Outlook

Trying to set up my pop3 email in pocket outlook. I've entered all the correct settings for btinternet.com (pop.btinternet.com & smtp.btinternet.com) just as I have for the past few years on different HTC devices.
Problem is I can't seem to send emails using T-Mobile 3G settings. Receiving works fine but unable to send.
Anyone advise me what I need to do in order to be able to send emails.
sometimes your account needs to authenticate before sending.
you have this option in your e-mail settings.
Try to turn this option on, afterwards you should be able to send mail as well.
I do have this problem also. It has nothing to do with the account settings I more than triple checked them. There seems to be an issue with 3g, T-Mobile and third party e-mail pop accounts. Can anybody help out on this?
It's a pitty not being able downloading your mails, with my 4350 it all worked, same account settings, same contract just GPRS.
Did you use original ROM?
My one works without any problems
Yes, all directly from the box. No modifications.
What's your nationality? German? If you might know how to solve it, just reply in German.
What provider are you using?
I'm using T-Mobile with 1 und 1 e-mail (POP3)

Email Problems

Hello all, ive just bought an omnia 2 to replace my stolen HTC diamond and i am so glad i did, this phone is great.
I am having problems with getting my emails.
This phone ( windows mobile 6.5 , the htc was 6.0 ) does not allow me to have the default "outlook" account connect to my company mail server (not exchange).
1st of all, id like to know if there is any way around this, to make the default "outlook" account receive the mails from a pop3 account (which is our company's email service)
If this is not possible, we move on to my 2nd problem.
I have created another email account, lets say i named it : "Psit" I have accidentally put the wrong logins for this account, so i cannot receive. I got a could not log in to this account message from my phone once, but it stopped showing me this error. It just does not receive emails. When i try to go to OPTIONS to edit the logins i get the following error: Cannot change account options. An account is sending or receiving messages. I said: okaaaaaay, tried to delete the account, same error message. I tried to remove the emails from active sync, didnt change anything because that account has nothing to do with my PC anyway.
I tried to reboot the device, connect it through wifi, nothing !
Any help would be really appreciated because i love this device and i want to make it work.
p.s. The best senario would be to be able to somehow "fool" the default "outlook" account on the phone in order to receive my emails directly AND sync the same folder with my PC !
Hi, I've been fooling around with my email the whole day today, so let me try to answer you.
If you want to receive pop3 email, try creating a new email (not active sync). I'm of course talking about the pull mails. You can choose pop3 or imap4, which yours is pop3. type in the outgoing and incoming servers (you can find out from your IT department) and you're good to go.
As for your second problem, I don't quite understand. Is Psit a activesync account?

[Q] Cannot Send E-mail

Hello-
First, I did a search and could not find an answer to my problem. My sister-in-law has an Aria and is new to Android, as am I. I tried to help her set up a gmail account and went through all the steps I did on my Captivate, but she cannot send any e-mail. She has tried several times, and will get a message in the Notification Tray that reads it cannot be sent. Her gmail account has been activated as I can open her account via the internet and she can download apps fro the Market.
While on the topic of e-mail. We are both teachers, in different school districts, but we both cannot connect to our respective servers to get our school e-mails. What do we need to do? I have read elsewhere it's an issue that needs to be dealt with by the school's system administrator and they must change some various settings. Is this true or is there something else that needs to be done???
Thanks for any advice in advance!
on the subject of not sending emails from the phone, i would first off make sure there is a connection of some kind, be it wifi or a 3g data connection. is she trying to send them from the browser on the phone from gmail.com, or is she using the built in gmail app? i haven't had any issues similar to this with my aria on any of the different roms i've tried.
on the subject of accessing your school emails, that would be something to talk to your system administrator about. you would need to set up your gmail account to check the emails sent to your school account as well. you can do that through gmails website through settings, then accounts and import, then check mail using pop3. you should be able to get the settings you'll need from your sysadmin.
