Blackberry connect for wizad - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have an i-mate K-JAM and need to get the t-mobile blackberry client working to access corporate email. I upgade my ROM to following:-
ROM ver 2.16.9.1 WWE
ROM date 2/6/06
Radio ver 02.07.10
Protocol ver 413.1.03
ExtROM ver 2.16.9.101
Installed Blackberry client and desktop with no problems but client will not connect. I could not install the t-mobile ROm as I has an Invalid Vendor ID message.
Any suggestions how I might get it to work, I have heard that the t-mobile client is incompatible with ROM ver 2.0, but also understand I cannot now load a lower ROM version.

Dude, I hate to bring down the rain on your head but if you look in this forum you will find an extensive thread on BB Connect for the Wizard. I'd suggest reading it - first off it doesn't work with AKU2 ROMs so you're on a hiding to nothing unless you downgrade. Second, the reast is in the thread.

Sorry for being a novis, but we need to start somewhere! According to the I-mate Club website once the ROM has been updated to AKU02 it cannot be reinstalled with older version. Any assistance/clarification very welcome.

shiskinegolf - imate club don't know what they're on about mate. Read the lokiwiz thread on this forum at the beginning and it will tell you how to SIM and CID unlock your unit. I'd also recommend reading the last three pages or so of discussion which takes you through the issues we were having unlocking AKU2 ROMS - there is a trick to it but I understand lokiwiz has been updated to make it work since we were using the get around. Once you have SuperCID unlocked you can install any ROM you like (that includes downgrading to an AKU1).

Help

Hello.
As a new xda user I have been reading up on flashing my machine to the Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC Phone edition. I am trying to find out if every rom will work on my phone.
I have an 02XDA
Bootloader 5.17
Rom Version 3.14.17 ENG
Rom Date 10/11/02
Radio version 4.17
Protocol Version 32s54
I was looking forward to updating it to the new version but o2 Asia (I assume my xda is the asian model) says that an upgrade is unlikely.
Can I update it with one of your roms or possibly the WM2003?
Thanks.
Yup, you can upgrade it, and anyone should.
If you asked me two days ago you would get a negative answer. But last night for the second time I upgraded my XDA again to WM2003, and very very happy with it. Specially the telephone and SMS facilities.
When I upgraded first time last week, I was not happy at all, my application programs somehow hang the XDA, most probably Battery Pack older version. Now I am using Spb Pocket Plus instead.
If you want to upgrade to WM2003, just make sure that all your application program can run in it. You cannot trust the signal bar, so I use an excelent program called IP Dashboard test it.
My old set-up was exactly like yours, and now:
ROM version: 4.00.01 ENG
ROM date: 05/16/03
Radio version: 4.21.00
Protocol version: 32S54
Help X2
Ok then.
To make mine look official, where can i get a proper copy of WM2003? I know its not officially endorsed or anything but I want it to at least look the part.
I'm one of these people who love having the newest look to their mobile and as its new I havn't put any extra programs on it yet. (Apary from the sms fix)
and how would I go about getting it and resoring it if the update failed. ?
You may not be able to get an 'official' copy of WM2003, but there are plenty of developer-releases floating around
Search the forums and read as much as you can and you will have your XDA upgraded in no time.
If I'm not happy with WM2003 can anyone tell me if it is possible to downgrade with the official Programme a/b that can be downloaded from the 02 website.
I downloaded it just in case I had any problems a while ago. Touch wood *knock Knock* It hasn't been a problem for me.
you can down-grade. the best way of doing it is to down-grade to XDA-developers v1.2 then to O2 3.xx

i am amazed by how quickly things turn around in here, not many weeks ago we were looking forward to XDA-Developers 1.2, now look where we are.
Because i'm such a cheap-skate i don't have internet access at home, but i do at work however for some paltry security reason 'ftp' is blocked. is there any way i could get 4.00.10 without radio.exe via http
many thanks
@jerome
I've installed it on my O2 XDA, I think it is a little more stable with a few less bugs. But if you install it there is TMobile software on it. You can remove it easilly, but you have to know what you do, which means removing the apps from the Startup folder and from the Today settings.
@david beckham
Well with which FTP program are you downloading? You can do it even with a web browser, it is pretty simple. Since there are now already 5 users downloading (which is the maximum) it is pretty clear you should download it without problems. Does it give an error?
I'm uploading the 3 files to my homepage now which is much quicker than my FTP. When it is there (about 45 min.) I will post it here.
Sorry the uploading to my homepage isn't quicker, but blame it on the guys who are downloading from my FTP which steal 45 KBps!
@Aurora13
Is your XDA Asian version ? Did you find any particular problem upgrading it to WM2003 T-Mobile version ?
Did you upgrade also the radio version ? My XDA comes from Asia and I'd like to wait for the radio upgrad that will be available this August...
Can you be more specific on how to remove T-Mobile software ? What do we have to do ?
Thank you !
As you can see I'm from The Netherlands so your first question should already be answered. But you can update your Asian XDA but without the radio update!
Your second question:
What to remove:
- Disable the TMobile Today plugin in Settings - Today
- Remove the TMobile shortcut from the Windows\Startup folder
- Remove Program Files\AIM if you don't use it and wants to save RAM space
- Remove Program Files\TMobile if you don't use it and wants to save RAM space
Reset the device and the TMobile stuff is all gone!
Sorry I can't host the files on my homepage. I've got to less space and my monthly bandwith can't allow it. So you guys are stuck with my FTP until someone else host it.
Aurora13
maybe I am new to this ftp thing, i just type this when i am in the ftp prompt
ftp>get 4.00.10 - exe-without-radio-update.zip
i still cant get the file, can you show me how should i get it?? I am using the ftp from the MS DOS prompt...
get "4.00.10 - exe-without-radio-update.zip"
should do the trick since DOS cannot use spaces without the "" around it
Good luck!
Hi!
When I click on your FTP Server I get the message:
403 Forbidden - The server denies the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the server administrator. (12202)
Internet Security and Acceleration Server
Any Idea?
Your solution:
Don't click on it!
Open it with a FTP program, or replace http://ftp.alain-net.net with ftp://ftp.alain-net.net
it is FTP and not a web site
can i restore my bata with 4.00.05 backup with 4.00.5 rom?

Is This Safe?
Hey, Im Currently Running The Kitchen Rom 4.00.05 with Radio Version A.20.10 :S Is it safe to install the new tmobile rom 4.00.10 exe with radio update or ?? Any help would be great
Thanks, Allen
My Device:
Tmobile Pocket PC Phone Edition USA
Microsoft Pocket PC Version 4.20.1081 (Build 13100)
Rom: Kitchen Rom 4.00.05 ENG (PPC2003)
ROM Date: 06/05/03
Radio Version: A.20.10
I updated my XDA from ROMkitchen 4.00.05 to T-Mobile 4.00.10 .exe.
Somehow, I could not roll back to my previous ROMkitchen 4.00.05. When I execute ROMkitchen 4.00.05, in the adaptrom window I got an error message below:
“error: GetConnectionType – An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
error getting connection”
My activesync is still on. I am using Radio Stack 4.21.00.
XDA Developer please help ………….. or can anyone help me please……..
Heres the deal....
All i did was do the regular upgrade to 4.00.10 and got to 13% on Radio Stack Upgrade when it errored so i took it out did a few Soft Reset's no luck so i flashed the 4.00.10 Rom through the wallaby bootloader got it up waited patiently for CE to load... loaded after about 15 minutes at that time it was running terribly slow and when i got it up i had no service because i had no Radio Stack so i then loaded up this old radio stack well not so old but it was version 4.21 i then soft reset the device started the 4.00.10 install it went through the Radio Stack then the Rom update with absolutley NO errors or conflicts so everything is working great..
Ill keep you posted on any error's i find or conflicts with stuff so far nothing wrong !
Heres something to keep in mind DONT Upgrade To Tmobile Rom 4.00.10 With the radio stack version A.20.10 Or you will be doing what i had to do!
i want to say thanks to all the great people out there posting
Thanks, Allen
Thanks to Aurora it was easy as pie to flash the w/o radio stack tmo pre-release 2003 -- and I did it over 4.00.05!!
I like this rom much better too -- interface, response, stabilty all are much better than 4.00.05. However, I've only been working with it a few hours now, and that could change ... but I don't expect it to.

You may use any ROM Updgrade, you may even want to cook your own ROM, but please do not think of performing a radio stack upgrade if your present radio is working well and giving you a trouble free service.
Hi guys,
I 'm in same situation but with higher versions, and can hardly wait to get a new 2003 ROM.
I can't just play with my XDA as I use it all the time for work and it's pretty stable so far. I just also can't tell that the ROM is 'totally' separate from the RUU in WM2003.
So the question is: is there any one here who has gone through a 2003 upgrade for Qtek 1010 to tell us his thoughts after the upgrade ?
I read a lot about the stability of 4.00.16 ENG, but all been written was for O2 R4.21 or T-Mobile R6.xx. Did any one in this region (Mid East) with R 3.2x went into this upgrade ? and what is the current status ?
Thanx all ....
Latest ...
I tried upgrading to 4.00.11 ENG from the kitchen ... no matter how many trys it just restarts and gives the same error message "Can't open USB/com port ..." ...
Do I miss anything ??
more update ...
Tried to cook the new ROM as .nb1 file and used Xdatools from the kitchen to flash my device .... same result :?
Is it possible that there is a ROM protection on my XDA ???

Hi Biso007,
Look at the IDIOTS GUIDE at:
http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3171
and follow the instructions thoroughly one by one and you can't go wrong, it did work for me, I was in the same situation.
Samohile - Thanks. It is good advice to not mess with the radio if you can help it.
My only problem is that my device periodically shuts off. Then pressing the power button soft boots it. I cant tell for sure but it seems that this happens after an incoming or missed call. It seems that other friends using ROM 3.18.04 and Radio 3.25.01 (like our friend biso007 here) seem to have very stable systems.
I can try upgrading the ROM only and see what happens but the information at www.carrierdevices.com seems to imply that both ought to be upgraded at the same time. I notice it is an Australian site. Does that matter? Also, the version of the radio upgrade is a bit confusing, at least from its name. (Radio Upgrade File : RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG).exe] ). I wonder what this RSUv1.15 translates into since the name of the exe file for the ROM is nicely descriptive of the version (3.18.04).
Any advice in this would be very welcome..
Well i am using WM2003 4.00.11 and its working fine for me no problem i cooked in the kitchen you just need to read arround this great forum for a whgile on topics such as upgrades and ROM to know exactly what you are dealing with and then you will able to upgrade smoothly.
Hi ARZLEB
I read lots and lots about upgrade lessons but none of them worked for me .... I got an advice to use SD card with bootloader as it's the only working way. Now I wonder why the EXE method was created!!
I see that u got the 4.00.11 working. Did u upgrade it using EXE or SD card. Any help would be so appreciated ... thnx
Well i used the EXE methode the file i cooked in the Kitchen but i didnt change the version i left as 3 at the bottom of the page it works fine i upgraded from 3.XX to 4.XX then i downgraded from 4.00.11 to 4.00.05 then upgraded again all using EXE format so far working great.
i will be honest with you i know about the SD methode very well but never tried it so u have to make more search on this issue.
If you need anything more plz message me anytime and i will be more then whilling to help you step by step...

Faisal sorry for very late reply.
I have flashed my Qtek (bought in Abu Dhabi) with several versions of roms cooked in kitchens (Jeff's and Stefans's), but I have finally settled with ATT release wm2003 Siemens SX56 upgrade. It comes with most of the bugs fixed (except multiple reset bug) and is quite stable. I almost never have to reset it. You can flash the ROM only by SD card method though. You can try it. It's always a good idea to flash using SD card method. USB method using ProgramA is not very safe. I guess the network in Pakistan is compatible with the one in the UAE, so you can safely use it, if you don't mess up with the Radio Stack. My Radio is 3.23.01 and I have no problems with that.

special edition rom 3.17.03 changed the identity of my SX56

I am new to othis whole ROM flashing business so bear with me. I used the special edition rom 3.17.03 ENG to unlock the sim. Everything went of OK but it changed the hardware identiy from PW10B1 to PW10A1. I want to rectify this so it indicates the right identity. The phoone works with ATT wireless but the internet access is quirky and shows 'page not found for yahoo.com and other portals. How can i do this
Model no.PW10B1 shows as PW10A1
ROM version 3.17.03 ENG
ROM date 5/15/03
Radio version 6.12
Protocol version 324e4
Any help appreciated.
On a not unrelated matter, the upgrade to 2003 is available at the Siemens site but it wont let me download after i give my name and email. Just says thank you and leaves me hanging in the wind.
Kaushal
The identity makes no difference, your phone remains 900/1900, the rom upgrade does not affect the radio so I doubt the "page not found" is to do with this, it is more likely to be your settings.
It did make a difference when i was trying to install A20.17 from the siemens site. It said the version was incompatible with the identity of my hardware. It needs to be set right. I am still having trouble with my internet settings. cannot go on the internet.
After much pain, panic and suffering I was able to upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003, thanx to XDAtools and the folks who created this forum. Thanx a bunch. But in the process i lost the number of programs that were part of the special edition which i briefly had in my SX56 for a couple of days. Is there a way of adding them to the WM2003 environment. Thank again for the many tutorials in this forum.
If they are part of the kitchen list, just check them before cooking the ROM

no one to help me??????????????
Here ya go....
1) Correct. You can't upgrade your 2i to WM5.
2) I would recommend downloading one of pug's ROMs. You can find them here: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Alpine/O2_Roms_Camera_Fixed_Bug/
If you hate the o2 active stuff, then download the one marked "o2stripped" (I would recommend this one). If you like the o2 active stuff, then download the other.
3) The latest Radio ROM available for the 2i is version 1.04. If you upgrade your ROM using one of pug's rom, then your radio will automatically be updated to version 1.04.
Justin
BTW, I think your device is an Alpine, not an Andes.
Got a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with.
I was updating my rom and it all went wrong. When I turn my xda2i on now I get the normal setup then its goes to a black screen with serial written on it (or usb if it is in the cradle), and apart from that it does nothing.
My laptop no longer recorgnises the device so I can't restore the old rom or restart the process????
Can anyone help please?
tez,
You're in what is called "Bootloader". You're OK. You can do one of two things:
1) Simply re-attempt to "reflash your ROM" with one of the ROMs you downloaded.
2) Reflash your ROM with a ROM update provided your manufacturer. I couldn't get my device to update with one of pug's rom (it go stuck around 18%) so I had to reflash my Alpine with an original ROM released from a manufacturer.
Hope this helps.
Justin
