Pictures of the insides of an XDA II - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Long overdue, here's the pictures of the insides of an XDAII we took a while ago. If you click the images, you get the original version. The originals can be up to 1.5 MB a piece.

Any tips on opening up one of these beasts, I have to do a motherboard transplant and dont wish to destry 2 machines in the process, any advice greatly appreciated.

Any tips on re-connecting that ribbon cable for the LCD screen? I tried everything to get those little spring loaded pokey things under the retainer clip but couldn't. Ended up breaking the retainer. So I just stuck a piece of film negative in there to hold it down. Not really professional, but that connector is a *****. What were they thinking?!?!

A while ago, I published a graphical step-by-step procedure to fix the a speaker problem on MDA2, i-Mates, Qtek2020, etc, etc...
I created a spanish and an english version, but somehow I forgot where I published the english version...
But you can check the spanish version here...
It's very straightforward since the pictures have illustrations so I'm sure you will get the idea just by looking at the pictures...
Good luck!

the 14th pad of my XDA2 is miss.
I wanna solder 14th pad of connector with test pad.
Can you help me to measure the test pad for pin 14 ?

Hi gays!...

Please note that you can't change parts between XDA II and MDA II.
The PCB and screen are different between those models.
Note that the screen on the MDA II is different than XDA II. MDA II screen's back light is much darker than of the XDA II.

xda II screen
Hi.
I'm sorry I can't help you, but maybe you could help me. I have an MDA II from T-Mobile with a bleeding screen. you stated that you tried to replace one into your MDA IIi.
do you still have an intact LCD with 64 K that would fit into my MDA II ?
thanks in advance
all the best,
mike
I just had my pda2k screen replaced by the fellas at htc USA. You can find their info on www.clubimate.com under service centers. They did a good job, but forgot the other 1/2 of the repairs. They finished them for free after realizing their faux pas, but also had a shipping snafu.
hey
gronwald
i have the XDA II screen intact and good condition, it is new, if you want it, i can sell it to you
let me know if you are interested
regards
Jorge
hi jorge,
yes, I'm interested. screen meaning the LCD and touch screen in one unit, or just the LCD ?
also, is it the 64 K one ?
-might be easier to email me at : [email protected]
thanks in advance.

i-mate JAM cover replacement

like all of you I want my JAM to look as great as possible. it does not help that I'm prone to dropping it once a week. Anyone know what I need to do to get the cover replaced or where I can get the parts from.
I've done some internet searching and have come up empty.

You'll need to trim the IMEI back plate to fit but it's easy enough to do.

How much does it cost to repair a broken screen?

Well the title says it all. I broke the screen of my p3600 and i damaged the case also. Does someone have any idea how much it will cost to repair my p3600?
I know that with laptops, the screen can run up to the same amounth as the laptop... lol... Not sure with ppc's though.
Ebay object number 120124498971 [ GBP 65.99 ] LCD for HTC P3600 P3300, SPV M700 M650, XDA Orbit S300+
Well the thing is i have to replace screen my self. Is there a tutorial on how to disassemble the phone?
Then this thread might be of some help (some instructions can be found), but maybe you can search a little further...

My friend here is your answer.
Buy what you need, LCD screen and housing from those guys:
http://cnn.cn/shop/htc-p3600-c-277_278.html
Then use my guide on how to disassembe your Trinity. You can find it here:

Post a photo and I will tell you. But in general if you see black spots on the screen then the LCD is broken. On the other hand the new one is so cheap that I would advice you to buy the whole package and not just the digitizer because it is easier to repair.

changing mobos

hi there guys
i need urgently help...
i have CIngular 8125 (WIzard 100) and a G3 model...
the mbo is dead and i should switch for a new one..
but the problem is in my country i can find only mbo's from MDA Vario...
will there be any difference if i put a Vario mbo in cingular? i can see the outfit of both PPCs is different but i think the mbo's should be same in those models... or no?
what to do? please tell me!
thx
cmon guys, i dont believe no one knows an answer for this...
please, tell me the answer... its urgent...
thx
Well,as both devices are manufactured by HTC with same specifications and feature, same processor and ram,I believe yes it wud be possible, only if it fits properly into the body(front & back covers) of the cingular and screws and all the connections get aligned,Overall, its basically the same devices, only differ in the shape,Hope it shud work fine
I would also agree with that as long as the motherboard and the screws line up correctly (towhich they just might and htc had given them different shells) all would be good in the land of nod.....

[FIXED] Broken Screen - Advice Needed (ID)

Hi,
I got my Kaiser Screen broken. The phone still functioning, even touch still working/responding. There're cracks & part of LCD darkened & I worry it might get worse by time/use.
Question:
HTC no longer sell devices in my country. What is the reasonable price + shipping? Any reputable seller that ships to my country & payment method?
Thanks for tips.
Edit:
Got the screen replaced & working perfectly!
Use the 4 screw method, without opening the base, took me 20 mins only
Thanks to Mike Channon, Erwinpiero & many others that fixed themselves & posted on this forum!
Well i'd say eBay is your best bet and I wouldn't pay more than £30 (450,000rupiah) delivered for one. Plenty of people selling them from China, just make sure it has a digitiser, and it's the right model. Oh and pay by something secure like Paypal so you have something to fall back on incase its a bad sale.

Thanks.
I think that's reasonable approach, but I'm looking if any member have dealt with particular dealer that delivers .. something that minimize the risk (at least, it's the right item and got delivered). Yes, we can fall back, but I don't think the process is easy, and especially Pay Pal in ID has no legal vehicle, the site refers to SG. That's the reason I try not going blindly if there're any referrals.
In any case, I'll look around, and update when the screen is fixed ..
Useful links
To anyone looking for info, here're good ones (apart from Mike Channon's site)
http://www.formymobile.co.uk/vodafone1615disassembly.php
(using this method, was what I did, and changed the screen in 20 mins)
And I learnt a lot from our own forum here:

Good luck to everyone.
I haven't replaced a screen on my xda stellar yet but i did have to replace one on my xda 2.
I purchased mine of ebay at a store. e-shop I believe it was called. I would recommend that you dismantle the phone first. There were 2 screens available for my xda 2 and the only way to see which one i needed was to see the connectors on the back of the screen. It may be the same case for the tytn 2.
Also make sure you are purchasing a screen with the digitiser attached. It is possible to replace the touchscreen part but believe me it's not worth the hassle.
Good luck
Thank you very much! Unlike TyTn / Dopod 838Pro, Kaiser screen is luckily pretty standard. The replacement was easy as I got the one complete set (screen & digitizer).
It's now fixed & working well.
That's great news!! I just came on to point you towards the service manual for disassembly (google htc kaiser service manual for anyone else who is interested).
I'm considering replacing the external housing of my stellar, it has seen better days! Having seen the procedure to take the pda apart i'm having second thoughts. Glad you found it easy to replace the screen it looks far worse than what i went through with my xda 2

DEAR
Please guide me to the "the 4 screw method, without opening the base" becuse i have a broken lcd and anew lcd from ebay (25$) and the tools, so everything is ready for action!!!
any instructions, photos, details, pic...etc. would be highly apreciated.
but I need an easy method to do that without dismantling the base and remove the "void" label.
Many thanks in advance
