What ROM are you currently running!
I ask this because the 6.18 radio stack is part of the current T-Mobile 2002 ROM which can be found here:
T-Mobile Current ROM Update:
http://www.t-mobile.com/products/handhelds/pocketpc/downloads.asp
Will upgrade to this version:
ROM version: 3.14.40 ENG
ROM date: 11/26/02
Radio: 6.18
Protocol: 324e4

Is Radio Stack 6.24 compatible with the current release of 2002 for T-Mobile? If so where can one find it and information on installing it? I'm interested in getting the "always on" capability and tired of waiting for T-Mobile to provide the 2003 upgrade

Yes...
I would also really like to have a radio upgrade for my QTEK 1010 something along the line og 4.10 or 4.20 not 4.21.
Please help me.
I can't wait.
THANKS

Stack 6.24 is compatible but you won't get the "always on" capability until
you upgrade the ROM.
For the visit:

As for the radio stack send me a PM with your email address and I'll
forward you a copy.

Do you still have the file?
The file from T-mobile website, no longer include radio upgrade.
Could you send me copy? My email [email protected]

FYI the zip file will include four files just copy them to your XDA's windows folder and run RSUpgrade.exe.
After the upgrade you can go back and delete RSUpgrade.exe.

Radio Stack Upgrade for Tmobile PPC phone
Hey Qman can you send me a copy of the radio stack upgrade as well. I am in the process of installing testing some of the beta builds of tmobile 2003 on my device and want to get a better working radio stack than I have, I have a generic one that is not working too well.

Rumors
I've heard a lot of people hosing their radio with the 6.24 update. I have 6.18 now. Is there a way I can back up my radio stack (using serial cable), go up to 6.24, and still feel secure with the knowledge I can go down to 6.18 again?
Thanks.

Radio Stack Upgrade, no problems
I just upgraded recently to the tmob 6.24 without any problems. Found the instructions for copying the four files directly onto the pocket pc and installing from there.
I've also downgraded that same way, there's absolutely no magic, apps, SD card crap, or anything required.
Both stacks worked without any trouble, the .24 having always-on and much much better luck getting a decent Internet connection speed.
Just my two cents. Those people that are so worried about downgrading and all these stories about the radio being hosed, I have no idea... copying those files right onto the pda always worked for me.

You downgraded from 6.24 to what 6.18?
If so send me a copy of the four needed files to downgrade back to 6.18, for my records. Because as far as I know/seen radio stack v6.18 was built-in the latest T-Mobile Pocket PC 2002 ROM update, hence no files!
But if you got them please send me a copy!

The Zipped files is about 1.28MB in size, I don't think Hotmail can
handle that, at least it didn't yesterday when I tried send it to someone

Qtek 1010 software for O2 XDA?

I have for a long time been looking for software updates for my O2 XDA (I have ROM 3.02.00 ENG and radio version 4.01), but with no luck.
Now I have noticed new software for free download for the Qtek 1010, apparently ROM 3.16.13 ENG and radio 3.19.01 (should this be 4.19.01?)
Is it possible to use these 2 files to update the software?
As my O2 XDA is unlocked, I wonder whether updating the ROM and the radio version will have any effect on the unlock, i.e. could the phone change to locked?
Best regards

I am still curious whether this upgrade can be used for O2 XDA.
Anyone for a test?

It's working! I just upgrade the radio rom from 4.16 to 3.19.01.
Sound more like a downgrade then a upgrade.
Did you also did the winCe rom upgrade?
Don't look at the first number in the OS or radio versions, it denotes region. 4.16 is an older version than 3.19.
Was the upgrade done on a Qtek 1010 or a XDA?

Has somebody got that Download and is willing to share it with us ??

The image can be downloaded on the first site...
however, I have just reflashed my XDA/MDA with the older irish ROM, it has plenty more features than this one, GPRS standby and ISDN call type.

You are wrong, the Radio update goes first and patches WinCE.
btw. don't use the update, really, use the Ireland O2 update ROM.
Strange file after updating
I have upgraded my Qtek using
http://qtek.dk/software/upgrades/316-CE-update.zip
http://qtek.dk/software/upgrades/Radioupgrade.zip
I performed all the instructions correctly and my pocket pc now has the
upgrade. However, in the remove programs, there is a file called HTC RSUupgrde.
I dont know I don't have to remove this or should it actually be there on my pocket pc? What happens if lets say I have to do a
hard reset and I lose this file?
Any suggestions? :?:

I had the same set upwith yours previously. I upgraded to SER 1.2 and WM 2003 after that. I also upgrade my radio stack to 4.21 from O2 UK. But now, I am back with SER 1.2 and Radio stack 4.21. I wish Icould go back to my old Radio Stack 4.17.
With 4.21 Ilost the "G" and signal strength for GPRS.
I hope my experience helps.
Beeheij, why didn't you keep the 4.17 radio version with WM2003 ? Was it not running properly ?
I think it's always dangerous upgrading the radio module with newer version dedicated to other regions (UK)
Thanks,
brix3,
I want to back to 4.17, but I cannot. Somehow during the process of rolling back I was kicked out.
As for the WM2003, the problem was in the SMS mode. When I picked a phone number, the "+"sign in my contact was not transferred tothe address in the SMS. So each time I wanted to send SMS, I had to correct the phone number.
My Battery Pack was not working. It hung my XDA.
Hope this helps
Has anyone in the US used or done this upgrade? Since it also upgrades the Radio Stack I'm just wondering. If GPRS is getting dropped as stated in other posts it is more that the network drops you or you lose data connection between cells, or the network has a load balance that give placement to voice users over data when bandwidth is needed. Not so much that your radio stack does it.
On the other hand just incase anyone wants to prove me wrong  who in the US has upgraded their radio stack to O2 4.21 and experienced a better performance than AT&T's radio stack (speed stability as staed on their website) :?: This means you probably already had to manually switch the default band 8) first, right? :x
Let me know I love to be wrong  ......I'm only that much smarter than I was yesterday

How do you upgrade your radio stack?

Many people have said that their running t-mobile radio version 6.24, I'm currently on 6.18 and want the always on GPRS. I've searched the site but can't find where to get the radio stack and how to upgrade it? I already upgraded to ROM 4.00.16 and it works great.

Tom- Are you sure you want to do this? I beleive that 6.24 is a beta version. I haven't heard a lot of feedback on it, but I have heard that going back to 6.18 is going to be near if not impossible after the upgrade.
I held off on the radio stack upgrade because I don't want the official T-Mobile upgrade to have issues. By only upgrading the OS, I can easily re-flash to the original factory rom before running the official T-Mobile upgrade when it is released. That upgrade could potentially fail if the radio stack upgrade portion detects a version other than the official ones that it expects. Not sure on this though...
Either way, below is a link to an RAR file that has the OS and the radio stack. Extract the .EXE using WinRAR or the like and give it a go. Just to be on the safe side, I wouldn't run this update on any other OS than the last official T-Mobile upgrade.
Good Luck

trhuseby,
did you try the new t-mobile as indicated by digital_1? I am tempted to try it also and wanted to know your results...thanks!
I'm going to wait until the formal release from T-Mobile, just too afraid I won't be able to upgrade to it if I try the beta above.

Like digital_1 stated its a pain to downgrade the radio stack so be absolutely sure you what to do it and will be happy with the results.
What I would do first is find somebody in my area that has already
done the upgrade and see what their reception / performance is like.
In most case the reception/performance should be better.
As for me I found the the AT&T radio stack was much better in my area (Las Vegas, NV) than the T-Mobile stack and is my radio stack of choice with that said I'll be staying with it no matter whats to come. No more radio stack upgrades for me.
So if you upgrade to 6.24 and it works good in your area stay with it no matter what!
Warning the signal meter is known to show lower signal strength but actually the reception / performance is better than what is being shown.
Anyhow once you have the needed files follow the below to upgrade:
Copy RSUpgrade.exe, RSUpgrade.cp64
,monitor_ul_bs.map and monitor_ul_bs.m0 to your devices windows root folder then from Pocket File Explore double tap RSUpgrade.exe and this will start the radio upgrade.

obelcher-
I don't want to give the wrong impression- I've never ran this update nor probably will I because I don't want to mess up my radio stack. Remember- that this .EXE will upgrade your radio stack, and as Qman pointed out in another thread, it is difficult if not impossible to downgrade the stack if it doesn't work out. Make sure you read all the posts in this thread so that you are well educated on the risks/advantages. That being said...
I would reflash the phone back to the latest official T-Mobile release before running the update. 4.00.11ENG isn't an official T-Mobile release- it's beta. I think the last official version (at least for me in US) was 3.08 (or 3.14.40 if you ran the update from T-Mobile).
I dunno why people keep saying it is near impossible to downgrade your radio stack. It is neither impossible nor hard at all.
You just need to copy 4 files to your windows folder on your XDA and run the upgrade EXE file. It does it's thing and you do a hard reset and you're done.
Okay I hope you are right and I can revert to 6.18 because I just upgraded to 6.24.. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Radio stack 6.18 is not a separate upgrade like 6.24 is, 6.18 is included in the ROM update. You'll be sorry if you do!

Have you actually tried this before? Going from 6.24 back to 6.18?
I am under the understanding that the radio upgrade is a forward-only process- meaning that it will check to make sure that an earlier version of the RSU isn't overwriting a more current version. Based on reading posts here, it has nothing to do with version numbers but something internally coded.
Regarding the free XDA- well cruisin-thru was right. The thread is marked "FREE XDA". They are offering a free XDA to someone who can downgrade a radio stack. None have claimed the XDA to date!
Well I tried the 6.24 radio stack and ended up going back to AT&T's A20 stack.
Had no problem at all, just put the 4 files people say in these forums into the windows folder of the XDA and run the EXE file. a few minutes later it is done, and you do a hard reset and everything is fine.
6.24 Radio Stack
Can someone tell me where I can get just the 6.24 radio stack without the 4.00.16 ROM?
I've been running 6.24 since yesterday and I the thing I like the best is the ability for the GPRS to stay on while the PDA is off (i.e. display blank). This allows me to wireless activesync and download my IMAP accounts in the background without me having to turn on the unit.. Only had a few wierd issue yesterday where SMS messages came in with the last half of the messages scrambled...
I found the answer to my questions...thanks anyway. The answer (thanks to mdavidm):
"The latest, unless I missed something, is 6.24.00, and is available as part of the TMo 4.00.10 ROM update at
http://www.romanweb.com/yorch/official-tmo2003.rar which includes the 6.24 radio and 4.00.10. To install, REMOVE YOUR XDA FROM THE CRADLE. Unzip the file, and then cancel out. It creates a directory called RUU under Program Files. Place your xda back on the cradle and copy the two files entitled monitor_ul_bs and the two files entitled RSUpgrade from the RUU\English directory to the Windows directory on your xda. Then execute the RSUpgrade executable file on the xda. This will install the 6.24 radio. Once complete, a hard reset might be required, but normally that is not necessary.

I will say this is absolutely the best Radio Stack I've had! No problems except if I have my earphone plugged in and I'm using my wireless car radio transmitter for mp3s plugged in. It seems to think it is to engage the speakerphone, but it is also trying to use the hands free microphone.... resulting in you need to unplug the hands free and the transmitter plug. Than again it could be i designed the transmitter and plug wrong in some way...
Anyway, I didn't need to do a hard resit, but a soft one was needed.

ROM upgrade in Australia

I just want WM2003 on my XDA. I tried installing 4.00.05 but got the white screen of death. Does anyone know if the Seimens SX56 ROM will work on my phone? I plan not to **** with the radio stack.
Just want a O/S that's newer and not as buggy as the original 3.21 that I had.
I miss my working XDA, it's been 2 long weeks and I finally get my MMC card back so I can flash.
Anyone in Australia got 4.00.05 working or WM2003? Which version you running if so?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
you didn't tell what's your device type and how the 4.00.05 failed.
I'm not sure the MMC can be used instead of SD card, but if yes, then i may advice you to cook a new 4.00.05 ROM at yorch.net and select the .nbf file method. move the file to your MMC card using the XDAtools and flash your xda through the boot loader.
good luck.
My device type was a:
PW10A
3.20.06 ENG (ROM)
3.21 (Radio)
But after trying to install with an EXE self installer became:
G32S54
4.00.05 (ROM)
R4.21.00 (Radio)
One thing I have worked out about the EXE self installers is that they will extract a NBF file to a directory, in C:\Program Files\Programme A\English
so therefore, whichever version you download in a self extracting file contains the NBF file that's required.

The Radio part shouldn't be affected by this upgrade!.
4.00.05 works just fine. The 4.01.00 and AT&T release ROM are even better (except for the stupid noise attenuation everyone's working to try and defeat).
Never(!) use the .exe method for upgrade, you have a much greater chance of it screwing your XDA. Also, according to your post you weren't messing with the radio, but by using the .exe upgrade you have inadvertantly upgraded the radio. 4.21 is the same version as O2 released for Australia, but I'm not quite sure if you're running the T-Mobile version now? As far as I know you can screw up upgrading your ROM as much as you like using the SD method because you can always whack the SD back in and start again, the bootloader is intact and the radio is intact.
I guess if you use the .exe update method from your manufacturer's release, at least you'll have some recourse in that you were only following what they said to do for the upgrade and they will probably fix it.
Use the SD upgrade method to fix your current problem, and you may need to use the Wallaby patch to do that. Good luck.

Device: PW10A1
ROM version: 3.18.04 ENG
ROM date: 05/22/03
Radio version: 3.25.01
Protocl version: 32S54
Cheers,
CK

Use A.30.09, it's the only release version out there. All other versions are beta and have their problems. The only headache with A.30.09 is volume attenuation, but either soon we'll have a fix, or soon another manfucturer will make a release public so we can switch over (hopefully) without that annoyance.
Howdy,
Where can I get ROM A.30.09 from?

Thanks heaps for that! The upgrade worked perfect.
You were right about the volume issue becoming annoying!
Which Radio Stack is the best to use in Australia?
Howdy,
Another quick question. Which Radio Stack is the better one to use? The QTek 1010 Radio Stack v3.25.01 (32S54) or the O2 XDA Radio Stack v4.21 (32S54)?

Upgrade works but only with 2002 ROM not with 2003 ROM

Have been to the kitchen and done some cooking the last night.
Facts:Using SD card for all upgrades
Never cook anything but the Base ROM itself (e.g. no extras)
The upgrade works perfect every time, meaning it ends successfully so that I can do a cold boot to start the "new" ROM image.
ROM version org: 3.16
Current ROM: 3.20.06 ENG
Radio version: 3.19.01
Protocol version: 32S54
Model No: PW10A1
RAM: 32MB
Flash size: 32MB
SD Card size: 64MB
I have been able to switch back and forth between different 2002 ROM's
but every time I upgrade to 2003 ROM the unit hangs on the introductions screen. I see the splash for instans 4.01.19: s "Welcome to T-Mobile"
In the bottom right corner I can see the Protocol version, ROM version and Radio version numbers. BUT there it is and it does not respond to any buttons or even magic words like pretty please with suger on top.
I have tried the following versions:
4.00.33 GER, 4.01.00 ENG, 4.01.16 ENG and A.30.09 ENG
I have no problem getting back to a working unit with almost any 2002 ROM but hey I wanna try it out with a 2003 ROM.
Any ideas anyone? I have been looking around quit a bit but cant see that anyone posted something that helps me out here.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this great forum!

not sure but maybe the 32MB ram is too little for 2003
these devices are pretty rare i think
maybe you should try doing a search for people with 32MB devices
and their exp with 2003 ?

The 32 MB shouldn't be the problem. Using myself a device with only 32 MB without any problems with WM2003 .....
Maybe it's a problem with the Radio Stack...
Nearly all the providers of a WM2003 Release included a Radio Stack Update. Myself i've tested it with the 4.21 and the 3.23. Maybe yours 3.19. is just too old.....

Ok, here we go again,
found the Radio Stack Upgrade from O2 uk (V421)
and upgraded witout problem to this one.
No I tried to upgrade with 2003 ROM 4.01.16 ENG but still same thing.
It hangs on boot screen even though it now in the lower right corner says:
G32S54
R4.21.00
4.01.16
I will try to load ROM A.30.09 ENG now.
I let you know how it goes.

Still no luck
Ok I have now tried will all known 2003 ROMs from the kitchen with the same sad result. (hang on boot screen as before)
I now downloaded the official O2 uk release of upgrade for XDAII (Xda_II_Upgrade_v16050.exe) when I unpack this one I find the following files that might be useful ms_.nbf, NK.nbf, Radio_.nbf.
When I try to write the NK.nbf to my SD card XDATools tells me that it does not recognize the file format.
I think I have seen something about this error but I cant find it now.
Im not even sure if this ROM will work. I can not see that this ROM is uploaded in the kitchen either but perhaps it will be?
So Im still stuck so any tips would be great and I keep testing new ways ahead.

hi. as LumpiStefan commended, you need to upgrade the latest radio stack. I think the radio stack 6.24 will work for you. check my posted for the radio stack.
Secondly, the radio stack will work it its specific OS rom image. for example, the radio stack for Tmoble , must match the Tmobile OS. you can not use radio stack built for O2 for Tmobile OS.
Therefore, try to upgrade with matching OS and its Radio Stack. I tried one night with all OS from Tmobile, ATT and OS to come with these solutions.

That´s wrong. 6.24 is for PW10B Models with 900/1900 MHz GSM. Do not use it on your device
