Looking at the following unit from Aliexpress. Link to the unit on Aliexpresswhich is pretty well supported on Rennlist porsche forums Rennlist forum link
1. In real world usage, is there a huge difference between PX6 and Qualcomm 665? I know it's way more powerful but I am just using this for Waze, Spotify Android Auto, Rear view camera/DVR camera while driving.
2. This unit is more expensive than other similar units. It seems like it has overall better quality. Is it worth the 200$ premium vs other units? Other ones have the same porsche physical volume knobs and illuminated buttons etc. If you have any other units I should look at happy to have a look!
3. Are there any higher quality backup cameras or front cameras people can point me to?
4. Has anyone used Harry's lap timer with one of these devices and can comment on the functionality?
5. I am having a hard time understanding Wireless Android Auto. Do these come with Native wireless android Auto or is it even worth using?
6. Assuming I don't use android auto, each time I get into the car do I have to tether my phone to the device to have life traffic and spotify etc working? Not planning on getting a sim card for this.
7. Any comments on the call quality audio? Good working bluetooth phone calls are really important for me. Happy to pay extra for a good quality microphone if anyone has any reccomendations.
Thanks for all the help!

I don't know if you have pulled the handle on this, but let me give you my experince.
1. I have little idea. I do know that if you are running Android Auto (which it does well both wired and wireless) the major processor usage is on teh phone, not the head unit.
2. This unit seems very well made. Feels like quality to me. If you can afford a 997, you can afford $200 for the best unit.
3. The backup and fron camera are great. I fitted both. They are the drill and push fit ones.
4. No
5. Wired and wireless both work well.
6. Yes. However I got a $6 a month data sim from Tello and that works. I then run Life360 and I can track my 997 from my phone.
7. Voice quality is great even with the roof down. However I should note that I am using a Kenwood microphone that was already installed.
W.r.t Bluetooth, the unit does have an issue with connecting to some BT devices. It seems to be with low power LE devices like my Valentine1 radar detector or my OBDII transceiver. I confident this wouldn't apply to any phine, and I'd like to think this can be fixed. Seems to be an issue with several Chinese units.
One other comment. I dod something really stupid when installing and needed a part to fix it. Owtosin (Bob Luo) stepped up and got me running again. They seem to have great support.

AVIN 7in Universal Android Headunit

I got this Radio hooked up a couple of weeks ago. It's my 2nd Android based Radio. My first was a OttaNavi unit and I was happy with it, but wanted Torque Pro app to work on my radio. I was under the impression when I got it. Torque would work on it. Well it doesn't. The App worked, but the BT won't connect to the OBD2. Well then I got the AVIN unit and I'm glad I did. Best headunit I have ever had. It works like it should. No glitching, screen runs smooth. Apps open up quick. etc... Works and feels like a higher end Tablet.
Like may of the other units they run a bit larger and can cause some headaches for installing. Lucky I found an easy and cheap way to install it and it looks great....
Not sure what all info you guys would want to know. So far I haven't had any issues with it yet. Only issue I'm having so far is the Torque App... I think it's going to work thou. I can connect to the OBD2 device and Torque sees it, but the OBD2 wont talk to the ECU..Which is weird to me. It all works fine with my Phone and Tablet with the same ODB2 BT Device. I had AVIN send one of their own BT Devices and it didn't change a thing...
Here is the radio..
https://avinusa.com/avin-universal-avant2-full-android-gps-navigation-system.html
It has no CD/DVD Slot or SD reader. It has 2 USB ports on the back only. I ran one USB to a port that comes out on my dash for quick access. I ran the other to the Glove box to a multi port with a larger Flash drive for music and movies.
Here is the unit installed..

Couple of screen shots with my phone..
Couple quick shots of what this unit can do...
What cant find your owners manual...No Worry.. Its loaded on your radio now...
Here is the new Home Screen after the update they sent me....I think it looks even better.
ahhhhh stuck in traffic waiting on the wife to get finish shopping...
This radio can Mirror your Phone via USB Cable. So you can operate your phone from your radio... Good for things like Netflix or Videos from your phone while going down the road.
You can use Torque like this too... Still trying to Torque to work on the unit itself.. Keep getting and Error for the OBD talking to ECU...
Screenshot of the Factory Setting Code..Simple 0000...Lets you change things like Boot up screen, Hide Icons etc..
And of course...some scatpack action...With the Scatpackforum Android App.
Does it work well with your phone? I'd love to get my nexus 7 to interface with my phone. I wonder what your ROM uses if it does indeed interact with your phone.
I'm looking at this universal AVIN unit. The information you posted already helped answer a few questions..... like can you change the boot up screen. What size USB stick are you using and how quickly does it access music (cover art and play). If you just started the car, can you see the backup camera on the head unit screen within a few seconds? It seems like if a person wanted to have data on the head unit, they could either turn on the hotspot on their phone (possibly alerting big brother to unauthorized hotspot operation) or they could use the mirrorlink function to control the phone via the head unit........ having your phone use the data and just mirroring the image to the head unit which seems like that would keep you from needing to use your hotspot function?
Thanks,
Matt

It will keep ALL the original functions of your car. thats how these units work.
You dont need adapters or anything, ive installed one of them in a F15 X5. And it works great tbh. easy to use.
When installing it can be a tight fit with the cables. And remember to move the fiber optic cables to the new quad lock connector, and you will be good to go

Sorry, I was blind ... you are right
BTW, do you know if it's working with stock GPS antenna from my car ? ... as I see it they provide a GPS antenna also
EDIT :
I still have 2 years of BMW Premium warranty, do you think by installing this unit I'll loses the warranty ? Thanks !
The original BMW radio has the stock gps antenna, you can put it on the new unit, but then the original wont have gps signal.
Or you can just place the gps antenna with that unit, behind the screen. hidden and it will get good gps signal
I do not think its messing with warranty no.

All sound works except Bluetooth calls

Hi All, I recently installed an Android unit into my Mini Cooper (R56). Everything is working great. I have all audio (beeps/clicks from button presses, in app sound, a2dp from my phone, radio....). I have the buzzer/chime secondary speaker working.. All that is great.
In the phone app on the unit I can make calls, sync my phone book. All that works.
The only thing that doesn't seem to work is audio during calls. I can't hear anything!
Can someone help me understand how phone audio typically works? Does the sound come through the car stereo? Front only? Rears? Through the extra speaker? Unfortunately this didn't come with a manual that details those specifics.
Any advice or help to point me in the right direction would be great. Thanks in advance!
Here's the unit I bought. Not sure if I'm allowed to post Amazon links but if you google the part number WS-D0404 you'll see it...
As always, minimum is Android system information, especially MCU version. Not sure anyone that read/contributes here will want to research your unit for you.

Do you have the front speakers connected?
On most of these head units, bluetooth calls and nav info is routed to the front speakers only.
If you have only rear speakers in your vehicle, then connect the head unit's front speaker output instead of the rear.

Hmm, the fronts are connected, but I haven't verified the content. There's sound coming from them, but I'll mess with the balance/fade to ensure each speaker has what should be coming from it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Android stereo bluetooth problems, Rootable?

Bought a no name android stereo, well I bought 2 ( different moddels) my main goal is to use it as a screen for the ecu master software so I can see the parameters of my engine. It connects to cars aftermarket ecu via a canbus bluetooth modul, its not like ur usual obd2 dongle. True problem is that the first stereo has no pairing built in to the software. The aecond one is really nice (Android 10) doesn’t feel cheap like the other ones on wish. But the Bluetooth doesn’t want to pair at all to it. Not trough the ecu app or the androids blutooth settings…. I know several people on YouTube that has found wish hud’s that has been able to do this. Sorry for bad english

Assistance Figuring out information on this Head Unit

Hello! I just recently installed this headunit on my bmw, I have browsed this forum for a few hours just trying to figure out more information on it, I have found myself in a never ending loop, The roms, mcu's, etc. I am utterly lost on trying to figure out more. It works great! and I love it so far, I managed to update the MCU Version the other day, not sure if that is able to tell anyone anything either, The one I had installed was: "Ksw-Q-Userdebug_OS_v3.6.5-ota" I at least think that is an MCU version, regardless I had installed it and it worked well, updated ZLINK and also seemed to help the bluetooth a good bit, I'm now able to connect effortlessly, and immediately launches Carplay and its near flawless minus the slight 1-2 Second lag (As expected for bluetooth) I am curious to see what all you guys can talk me through so I can either better understand my headunit or even show me. Id love to learn about a few roms people have been using and what exactly the benefits are to the one I am using, A popular thing brought up is "Rooting" What benefits would rooting my headunit bring? If there is any. And also I am having issues trying to connect bluetooth to my obd reader, I am able to actively pair it (Enter the pincode) and after that, it refuses to connect regardless how many times I press connect, it seems to just not do anything, I am attempting to use it to monitor AFR, Boost, EGT's Oil pressure/Temp, etc through bm3 I had even went and bought a enet to usb adapter and tried plugging it into my headunit obd port but alas, It was not working regardless, It isn't able to read vehicle vin information etc. Absolutely ANY information regarding my system either capabilities, Roms I should try, what exactly an MCU is, etc is appreciated. Below I have attached my Unit link on amazon, aswell as system information. Thank you! Zack

Not MTCD, requested moderator move to (Android head-units) forum.
Op try searching forums with MCU suffix and using punctuation, and new lines.
This headunit looks to be an oddball. Good luck.
