Need help identifying Android 12 HU - Android Head-Units

So I got this thing from Amazon there's like 300 bucks on sale so it's worth a little bit more than that which from my experience with previous PX3 px5 systems usually if you spend a little bit more you get a better quality product. But this one doesn't seem to be an mtcb or an MTC I can't really figure out which head unit it is. It says it came with Android 12 and a octa core processor. Also says it has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It looks very similar to my old dasaita hu. It says the processor is a b200 and I've never even heard of that although it said it came within AC8*** processor here's a screenshot of the setting screen if you guys could help me identify so I can find a custom rom and get some information on what I can do with this thing that would be cool. Thank you.

It's an STM32 type device.

Awesome. Thanks.

Yeah I'm very aware of what the search function is. I just wasn't sure which terms I should be using to search, hence me asking.

Hence providing the search terms in addition to answering your question which was so graciously gratified. I could have remarked without remiss for a post in the wrong forum, including a software development forum for what might be considered a request for others to do leg work
You really don't want a custom rom and they do not exist. Even the MTCD hacks are just modded factory ROMS which largely fix problems.
Suggest relegating the STM32 to experience and replacing with an UIS7862 FYT based unit. Don't take it personally, the forum is littered with posts from those that buy first and then read the forums second to resolve issues or determine what would have been better. Could also be an opportunity to start a new thread in the correct (Android head-units) forum and start (limited) development for this odd ball.
Not (MTCD) requested moderator move to (Android head-units) forum

Yeah you make a really good point. I didn't think it was going to be that hard to find information on this thing. It'd be cool to have a modded ROM for this particular device as it's not necessarily slow. It just needs some love a little fine-tuning and probably a smack across the face. Haha. Yeah I may look into just selling it and getting another one. Thanks for your input I appreciate it

It looks like I just fell into the same hole! Very similar firmware - STM32 - 20220607-11-BD3-57 but mine also says it's a B100 4 core 32gb/2gb and is running android 12 (supposedly - can't be sure based on others comments of the os/cpu, etc. being faked!) - Only just fitted a few days ago and it's working ok with the navigation software included / plexamp / reversing camera. I'm not too worried about customising the rom in this case but the issues I've had so far:
Google apps all run VERY slow - google maps virtually unuseable, play store is terribly slow to download anything.
Bluetooth to ODB2 adapter won't connect no matter how I try
Can't change the start logo as with other models
Under the Factory settings menu you can log on with code 8888 OR 6666 - using 6666 there is an extra menu item of 'Settings Item Hiding' - I'm guessing that maybe further options for setting up ODB2 might be hidden in there but I can't figure out what the code might be!!

Yeah I've been using Aurora store instead of the Google Play store and I found it more than adequate. I stopped using the play store whenever I could. Plus because it's a stereo other people can get into your car or borrow it I don't like being signed into a Gmail account or any sort of personal data being left on there so what I did is kind of a hybrid method. I use Aurora store for all my Google Play needs I just don't sign into Google Play or Gmail or anything and then I use an account that I made just for my car to like get notifications or at the very least be able to sign into things with Google like Spotify and still be able to have like a playlist personalized and all that but not leave any of my personal account data at risk.
But yeah Google Play store Google maps all of its completely unreliable and unusual so I just went in and disabled Google Play store and I'm probably just going to disable Google Play services as well because it's ****ing useless. Unless one of the other frameworks like a minified open source version or implementation of GSF you know just me better success I'm not really sure what else to do. Switching to another browser will help for your browsing needs so instead of chrome I haven't checked to see if chromium is available for Android but I know Firefox works great so I may switch to that. I'm still in the process of setting mine up. I think when I get some down time later on tonight I'm going to actually try and pull apart the wrong and see what kind of fixes or tweaks I can apply to it. Who knows maybe I can at least get the ball rolling on some sort of development for it and then some of the old hands can come in here then show us how it's done. Maybe if somebody show some actual effort into making these particular units worth modifying as far as their software goes other people will start doing it cuz the processor itself shows promise and it's definitely not slow. I mean in any benchmark that I've seen the AC8257 is ranked in like the top three I guess a lot of the rockchips soc.
And yeah I just actually got into that menu earlier and it doesn't open up much it does give you some engineering tools to modify the camera and the radio a bit. I mean other than it being slow for Google services and not being able to change the default launcher very well or customize how it looks I mean it's doing its job it's just in some aspects it's lacking. I'm hoping I can change that so I don't have to go just flat out by another head unit.

Since I am using this service from day one, but i have never read a word regarding this on XDA forum. so writing a guide who are not aware to this service.
Priorly with SGS i have tried, but was not available to my country(india), but this time with Note we are lucky.
To activate this service
First Go here
http://samsungdive.com
and register your account(free)
- Now on mobile go to setting-Location n security - Find My mobile
1.check SIM card change alert
2.click on alert msg recipient - Now login with credential, you have register on above mentioned samsung site. - and add recipient mobile number (your other number / family number) on which you will get notification, if SIM will changed.
3.check Remote control
Now when you visit samsungdive.com n login, you will see your register device there, (see Image above)
Click on your device.
You will see this
Now you can track your mobile. It have all function which available with many costly applications on market like
-tracking on map (to check location)
-Ring mobile (to find device in nearby location)
-Forward msgs
-call logs
-wipe out device etc
Hope it will be useful to G-Note user.
I didn't know about this! Thanks!
Samsung Dive is an excellent tool.
it also helps with few other things.
The other day i misplaced my note under my desk and i went online and made it ring( it rings even in silent mode )
Sounds great! I will have to check this out. I have been using SeekDroid since it came out, but this might be a more fool proof way, since I have had issues with Seekdroid while running practice tests. Thanks!
Doesn't seem to work in the US. Saying my ZIP is not enough digits and I don't see the setting on the phone menu to "find my mobile."
Edit: nevermind, deleted the optional address information. Still not working yet...added +10000000000 (0's are my phone number) since I'm in the US....
Edit 2: I previously had a SGSII on my Samsung account. Perhaps it's trying to locate that device (hehe, the new owner is probably panicking).
How can I delete that device and add my Note?
Edit 3: Nevermind, figured out how to add the Note here:
https://v2.samsungdive.com/help/guideRemoteControls.do
Doesn't say how to delete a device I no longer own though....
thanks for this
Although find my mobile worked fine with me "lock mobile" and "ring mobile" didn't although it is showing as succeeded on the web
any idea?

The FAQ says to delete (disable) the feature on your phone before selling it.
I factory reset it so it had to be disabled as the phone re-formatted.
Oh well. Works on my Note but I hope I don't wipe some guy's SGSII that I sold it to lol.
this is a really good tool, i played around with it for a while and its an asset
guys lock screen and all is working for you ?
any specific apk should be installed?
what ROM are you using ?
Thank you very much! It's working like a charm
THANK YOU!!
I saw this in the settings and wondered from where on the net one can control it.
@ArticCat: Are your phone's data/wifi enabled? 'Cause it needs to communicate with the servers.

Tinfoilhat and all, but any and all cell companies know where you are 24x7. Hint: they could give two ****s.
I, on the other hand, want to wipe my phone if I lose it, so I'm in. Samsung can watch me drive around all they want but I'd be willing to bet they have better things to do, like make Touchwiz more bloated and the like.

Removing Play Store & Services / Gapps

Like many now, I want to avoid Google's services for privacy reasons, and use CM / PA / other ROMs without anything Googly installed.
Thus the Priv is only an option for me if I can completely strip everything Google out of it. Priv is supposed to stand for privacy, but sharing everything with Google isn't very private ....
I have a bad feeling that there'll be no option whatsoever to do this. Also, it looks like the phone uses Google's phone and messaging apps, so I assume core BB services rely on those and therefore Play / Gapps ...
Then of course there's the dark cloud that a heavily locked down bootloader / difficult root access may cast.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Google probably already has all your information, i'm sorry...it's too late
If it lives up to what it is supposed to then it will be completely locked down with no aosp based options. Also as all the stuff will be tied to blackberries servers even if you did manage to unlock it you might find a device that is useless

Only BBM goes through the BlackBerry servers now, unless you're using it on a BES exchange.
Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I think it's a "wait and see" type of situation where we have to see if someone with the knowhow is able to root it and go from there.
Like Zel said, probably won't get custom roms, due to the advertised features of the device but I'm hoping, at the very least, the phone is successful and other OEMs start taking physical keyboarded devices seriously and make decent phones with them like they did when android was young. Could you imagine if Samsung, for example, made a GS7 variant that took physical keyboards as seriously as the note series takes big screens & wacom pens?
I think Priv will come with 2 OSes loaded, and you are prompted from the first boot to choose your preferred OS. So just choose BB10
Or go with Passport or classic, really good phone

This will not be an option. This would remove all the security that BB will depend on. I mean BB will most likely even use hardware crypto keys as well as the new security from qualcom that will refuse to boot if it detects system changes.

That is odd indeed. As this would bypass all the security that BB has worked very hard to come up with. Ill have to look into this more. The only devices that I know that dual boot are Asia based knock offs.
Thanks for the info will dig in and ping a few people about this.

Sure things no problem
But in fact I think this will do no harm, as the choice is permanent: You get to choose 1, and to stick with it till you factory reset the phone. In some phones (eg, for the gov or firms) you only get BB10 or android, in commercial edition you get both, but only use 1 at a time
I'm pretty sure that OS selection theory was well debunked in the Crackberry forums. People looked at that Passport image, and if you look closely at that switch to Android button, it doesn't quite have the right dimensions or separation from the other setting buttons.

The dual boot BB10/Android dream was just that... a dream. It only existed in photoshop, not in the real world.

Still I do hope of BB10 on Priv. For my needs BB10 is perfectly fine
Sorry this is absolute fantasy - it's an android phone running 5.1 - Google never has and never will sign off on a dual-boot. There is no dual-boot, no hypervisor - it's a virtually stock android device with a few interesting hardware features, some Blackberry specific software and that's it. BB10 doesn't even support the resolution of the screen and all work beyond security patches has finished on that OS.

Android Wear for Ticwatch 2 possible?

Heya!
So as the title states, is/will it be possible to port Android Wear (maybe even Wear 2) over to the Ticwatch 2? Since the watch runs Ticwear OS which is based on Android we should have all the blobs/drivers available to run the same Android Wear version on the watch itself or am I wrong here?
Thanks already!
Hi all, I got my Ticwatch 2 today and I'm also interested in the possibilities. Anyone?

Getting AW and or AW2 compatibility would be huge for this, a whole new rom... that might be a stretch but this place has had me hacking away at android for 4-5 years now at least, game on.

Oops, I did not read closely, just saw the Ticwatch and knew there was a thread. More coffee needed!
I would kill for a new android ROM to flash on this thing. I was hoping there'd be more chatter on this forum, but I guess it's to be expected considering it's just now ending up in people's hands.
If it allowed for the creation of an Android Wear-compatible Ticwatch 2, I'd lend my current one out to a respected developer here on XDA.
I have an onyx. I really love this watch but android wear would be more powerful -> native language, more apps etc.
Please! Make it happen
It would be great.
I would help as far as i can
Well, we have a chinese only Android Wear ROM so we'd have the drivers for the hardware possibly, but how easy will it be to port a normal Android Wear ROM over to it with those if even possible?
Well, my idea is porting the Framework and Launcher from wear to normal Android. Ok, my purpose is for a Phone ( Fun Recycling Project) but thats just Hardware difference

Activate developer mode to sync wear apps
Here's what an avid user from the FB Ticwatch 2 group found out: In the ticwear app, tap on the ticwear app's version number to activate developer mode. In "advanced settings" activate the "1024" option and then sync the apps. This also causes all wear apps to sync to the watch. Note that any apps that require a connection to the phone to sync data will not work properly. An example of a working app is Task Manager For Android Wear. Let's see what else we can discover!
This is a good hint. I activate it and now i have all my android-wear supported apps in my watch drawer. But they are not working. Eg. google maps:

Because apps that dont need to be directly connected to the phone work well. like games

HELP!! Change car icons on PX6 10.4 Tesla Unit

I recently purchased one of these head units from China. I like it. It is snappy and works well. After purchasing item, the seller contacted me and said that I needed to pay another 20USD for reprogramming, because of the kind of A/C in my Ram 1500. OK.. I found it odd, but accepted it.
When the unit arrived and I installed it, I was slightly disappointed.

I was hoping that the software would be tailored to the vehicle. Instead I'm getting these generic images showing when the car door is open and the image of what looks like an Aston Martin. I asked the seller if these can be changed and he said No.
I happen to know that the answer is false as if I would have bought the unit from Phoenix or Linkswell, I would have this..
Clearly that is a Ram.. and the other icons in the youtube video were also correct.
Anyone here knows how to change the vehicle icons?
Also, the reversing camera seems to be of a very low resolution compared to the crystal clear image I used to get with my factory 8" display. Would appreciate help in that area.
I'm not completely upset. These aren't deal breakers in me using the unit. I just wished for a little bit more attention to detail.
Is there anyone that can help me with getting my head unit to appear more factory?
1. I would like to change the vehicle icons to show the Ram or at least a truck.
2. I would like to get the camera to be more clearer.
3. Maybe change the theme a little.
Well...
The car pictures are included in the firmware and you can´t change that yourself without rooting the device, searching for the system apps which includes the different car pictures, creating your own pictures in the same shape, size and so on and put them back into the apps. You need to have a good knowledge of PSP to position and move the own pictures to the same view as the given one.
You probably need a couple of days to get that working and not look crappy.
Example: You need to create pictures for each door opening, you need to have pictures for all of them of the car from the exact same angle and this is needed for all pictures you want to exchange. Nearly not possible.
The cam picture is related to your camera. Seems that it is not of a good quality with low resolution.
Theme changes... forget it. No chance.

Theme changes... forget it. No chance.

Thank you for the reply. It sounds like a mission to root the device and change the icons, but I guess vendors like Phoenix and Linkswell have multiple employees that can do that easily.
As for the cam picture, on my stock 8" factory Uconnect, it was really clear. Only after switching to the android unit, is the picture quite a low resolution. It is still usable though.
These vendors don´t do anything.
The software development is outsourced to another company and they just work on requirements. To adapt a software to your specific car... costs a lot of money, because the graphics need to be taken and worked on... Even don´t think about the possibility to get this changed by the vendor.
If you want to get it... you need to do it yourself. I started a while ago with it and gave up after some days because I did not get the relevant pictures in the right angle.
Ah one thing additional: You are not able to update your unit afterwards, otherwise all your changes are lost.
Example: Only for the door thingi, you need to create these new files:
@knightjp You will find these and all the others in the launcher.apk.
The files I showed are in \res\drawable-w720dp-hdpi-v13, but you need to look first if one change in there changes anything on your radio. Not a fast thing... and you need to use the radio on bench instead in car, because you need a long time.
@rigattoni Thank you for the information. How do you access launcher.apk?

Just use 7zip and unzip the apk on the desktop to work on it.
Attention: You need to exchange the files in the zip file itself (APK is just the same as a zip file).

Thank you for the info. I mean where would I find the launcher.apk so that I can make a copy of it to a USB and then work on it. I'm browsing through the file manager on my unit and I can't seem to find it.
Sorry.. I'm new all of this..
This are the details of my unit. I did manage to find a group on Facebook where one guy said that he could help. But then he said that my unit is a 1600x1200 resolution display and he doesn't have the custom firmware ready for these units yet.

You need to use a file manager as FX with root right add-on. With the internal file manager you won't find anything... And the unit needs to be rooted.
I don't need anything I just sold the unit.

How do I do that? I do have to apologize. I'm totally a newbie at this.
Do you think that this will work for my unit?

Well... I am not in the position to verify that this is the right firmware for your particular unit.
You need to ask there, not here.
No one on this forum would be able to answer that.

I've checked with Linkswell. They said that the firmware only matches the radios they sell. Not sure I believe them since their radios are made in the same factory that mine was. They just put their own firmware on it.
Its fine. This group on Facebook have custom firmware that look really good and pretty much factory.

I'm happy to wait until they've got something out.
@knightjp
These units are too different as it would be possible to flash something from another supplier.
If you would have a MTC* unit it would be easy to exchange between different suppliers, but not for these units.
I even would not rely on any facebook groups... Too much idiots running around there. If you want to change something which is not done by the supplier, just do it yourself. You just need to make sure that you are able to reset the stuff if somethings going wrong.
Even to flash any firmware provided by someone else should only be done if the original firmware is available for getting the radio back working. Don´t use any firmware without having the original firmware.
@rigattoni I completely understand what you are saying. However this group came highly recommended by a number of forums, threads posts; specific to my vehicle and others. The users who have received custom firmwares from the group and are completely happy. They actually say that it is in many ways better than the stock.
Considering I have no experience with "rooting", etc., I don't want to do anything that will completely ruin the device unless I have clear instructions, step by step. I like the unit and it works well, despite the little things that make my OCD flare up.
So I will just wait.

I go fully with Marchnz.
At least if you not really know what you are doing and make an own question mark behind each instruction, you should not change anything yourself. Keep it as is and be lucky with the performance. Those small things like a different car on the screen... well... You loose more if you brick the unit.
The problem is, that this firmware needs to be made for your paricular head unit involving the MCU and built in hardware and not just for a specific car. Wrong firmware can brick the unit and if you are not able to help yourself out of this dilemma... you would be lost, because none of the current user would be able to explain the unit specific way to get out of this issue.
So I would say: If you don´t know out of memory to root this device and don´t have the original MCU and firmware... kepp your fingers away from the internals.... just some famous 2 cent.

Noob question: Apps behavior and wheel control on custom roms.

Hi Guys!
My new android head unit has a very ugly and poor designed software for using while driving, so I'm already thinking about trying a custom firmware or return it and be back to my stereo + cellphone + BT.
Maybe if I list my issues if you can tell me if a custom rom can solve my problems.
If I can't solve it, maybe it can be useful for developers.
1- Sound switching: Some apps like the FM radio do not pause when another app try to use the audio output, so if a want to run, for example, the Deezer, I have to stop the radio first and only after that I can play the music. (could not find another good radio app)
It is not only annoying, but it is kinda dangerous to look soo much to the screen while driving. In the ideal scenario, when I choose the source using the steering wheel control, the chosen app will play in it last state (the music play keep playing the last song, the radio play the last station etc).
2- Automation: For example, in my original stereo, if I remove the USB stick while playing it will go back to the radio or bluetooth and keep playing music. And if I insert it again, it will detect that is the same USB stick and start to play from the same music again.
3- Steering wheel button mapping: Some apps (mostly the radio again) do not respond to the same logic as the others softwares, so, if I press the pause button, mostly apps will stop/pause playing, but the radio will try to find the next station.
Another problem is that the unit wheel software do not map long pressing the keys, so the numbers of commands are very limited.
4- Fast and accurate volume control: That problem is addressed by the Agama launcher using a gesture on the central ring on the main screen and it works very well, almost like a physical button. But again I could not use the Agama as my solution cause I cannot use the steering wheel control to change the source. In the Agama, If I press the source button to go the bluetooth receiver or the radio, it will stay on the app screen and I have to press the home button to have the main screen again.
If you made it until here, LOL, I think it may work something like this:
- You could choose the main apps to be selected by the source button (kinda like it is now, but you can choose how many sources you have).
- In the SWC (steering wheel control) some buttons would be global and others could be send to the application on the source "slot". Long pressing mapping too.
- Some commands of the SWC could change depending on the chosen source, so it can be more useful in different apps.
- Automation: if you are stopped, you can use the apps and the screen as a normal tablet, but if you reach a chosen speed, the unit will go to the home screen and the apps will run in second plane, unless it is in the list of apps that can stay on the main screen while moving (custom).
- Widgets to control radio and music apps could share the same area on main screen and will be show depending on the source choose.
- When moving, the main screen could priorize gestures to control main functions like volume and screen brightness or turn screen off. The gesture priority could stay on until the first single touch gesture. If you are stopped, the first single touch will enable the "tablet mode" again to permit full use of the unit. The gesture priority would be back as soon you reach the set speed again.
Hope it can be useful. =)
Better you return it. ;-)

Sorry to say, but Torsten is right.
Nevertheless... You even did not tell anything about your unit.
What make, which MCU and of course the current used firmware.
May be one would be able to give some answers...

Sorry, I did read the rules, but when I was trying other launchers, the unit stopped to show the screen after the google logo.
At the time I started to write that giant message I was waiting to the seller to send me the recovery files/procedures, so I would be able look at the MCU model and put it in the specific forum. Happen that he did not sent it yet and I could do it. =)
If I can use your patience for one last question before the weekend, can I run those ROMs in virtual machines to see how they work? I do not have much time to decide to return it, so I'm trying to make the best use of this time.
It is 2-din 9 inches generic capacitive buttons unit with automatic Android Auto and Carplay. (2g+32g 4 cores uis8141 CPU). It has a very good screen, it is very fluida and looks amazing in the car. My main problem it is not drive friendly.
I'm not that laze guy. I did watch and read tons of reviews in forums before decide to buy and honestly, I was not expecting to looking for a custom rom so soon, cause nobody tells how it is not drive friendly. To me, I would only change the launcher for a better looking one.
Another option would be keeping it as a learn lesson and join the development group to try yo make my own mods.
Thank you for any extra help!

There is unfortunately no single custom ROM for these UIS8141.
There are 2-3 other threads talking about these units, but that´s it. Just search in this forum for UIS8141.
By the way... Even if you find any other firmware for these units, I would not recommend to use it. You need to give the Chinese guys at least some time to answer. They start working at least 6hrs earlier (for Europe) and leave work 4-6 hrs earlier than we do.
Wait until Monday and send a reminder early in the morning, that your unit has stopped working.

Thank you! They send me file to reload the firmware using an USB stick and it is working again.
I was think all those Chinese tablet style units had similar software, like the cellphones works, but the Android is very modified. Next time I will try to buy one with a more popular CPU and firmware.
I do realize if I use the original launcher and apps and change only the standard navigation app it works fine, with a very limited interface in terms of customization and information, but works.
The most interesting part (in a bad way) is the system does not allow android widgets to work, so any launcher like Vivid that uses widgets to do custom screens are useless.
I also kinda make it work using the Agama launcher and the NavRadio to control the radio but still a not so fluid experience. The original is "better".
Thank you anyway, you did help a lot.

It is a good tip. I'm not having problem to talk to the Chineses on AliExpress. They just answer only on question per day. LOL
Since this seller in specific sells a lot of these units, I was expecting a better custom service, but it is very crude. No site, no online detailed user manuals... they did send me a very poor quality video on youtube to show how to force the USB upgrade. The seller store is LEHX.
Thank you for the help!

Same problem with other sellers. The Chinese support is very weak and they don't know much about the devices they are selling. Especially if the question is not standard you often get no valuable answer.

You may try Fcc Car Launcher. This is a widget based launcher and works with a lot of different CPU combination.
By the way:
Exactly this is the reason I buy from Klyde.
I can get in contact with Klyde via WeChat and if I have something special, I have a direct connection to the developer and get information or new firmware within 1-2 days.
I don´t buy this kind of things on AliExpress. I never did that and I won´t do that at all. Cheap small things for some bucks... okay, but nothing over $100.

Me too. I think was the first time I bough something over $50 on Aliexpress. Here in Brazil, if you buy anything under $50 for personal use you do not need to pay import fees.
About the Fcc Car Launcher, I did realize the unit are not allowing widgets from any source to be installed, so none of those nice Launchers work as intended.
But it is getting better. The radio integration is better using the NavRadio app from here and now I'm trying to work around the widget problem.
Found some users here that are unlocking the widgets installation on the Amazon Fire Tablet using the ADB and the config files looks identical to mine. If I can find a USB drive that works, maybe I can make the widigets work and make it look a little better.
After the initial frustration, I'm kinda enjoying tinkering with it. Still not sure if I will install it cause I'm very serious about security while driving.
Thank you again. Regards!
By the way, the only reason I'm insisting on it is cause I think it fits very well on my car (a mk2 Ford Focus) and since it has native Carplay, maybe it will be not so bad to use. We will see...
