I have bought a new, stock Sony Xperia X Compact from a Chinese online vendor. The cell phone can send SMS messages. I have tried to follow instructions on this forum to install a custom ROM, but i have not been able (i have found many expired...

the phone cannot make or receive calls.
The only workaround i found is to clear the cache of one or two of the "Phone" apps.
My phone has 2 apps with identiacal name "Phone" :
- one has a green phone logo and is version 23.00.00003
- the other one has a blue phone logo and is version 3.00.00
If i clear data or cache of one or both apps, i can make or receive calls for a few minutes, but then the problem comes back.
When the problem is present, if someone calls my phone, my phone will not ring nor show the incoming call, and shortly after it gets an SMS message saying that someone has tried to call me.
So the SMS keeps working, and i also have the data connection, for example i can do whatsapp calls.
The problem is specific to the proper phone calls.
Do i need two Phone apps ? Shall i try to remove (again) one of the two ?

Hi Everyone, I have searched for an answer to my problem but cannot find anything.
I have upgraded my G1 to Cyanogen, and everything works fine except I get no notifications to text messages, they just arrive, with nothing to tell me they have arrived.
Another problem is when I call my phone, it rings once and then gives an engaged tone. There is nothing coming up on the phone to say I have a call, however it does put the call in my missed call list...
I have checked GSM call settings but all forwarding is disabled.
I have just upgraded to the latest cyanogenmod with the updater software, however I still have the same problem.
Another thing that doesnt seem to work is the home button, and camera button, and the phone no longer locks.
I am at a loss for what to try, apart from trying to flash the phone back to its original state.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When you did the update did you wipe first? You can fix your problem, but you need to wipe your phone. So wipe, then reaaply the update. This does happen to people from time to time, and I've yet to see the direct cause or solution. A possibility is something in the dalvik-cache.
i have an anoying bug.
before i never had any problem , but since 2 or 3 weeks my hd crashes sometimes .
and it always does after i recieve a txt msg.
my sms recieved tone starts playing and it doesnt finish ,
when i look the phone is dead and i cant get it on again.
i have to remove the battery and put it back before i can turn on the hd2 again,.
what is the problem and how can i fix this thing.?

I have the same problem . Every 15-20 texts , after the phone recieves the text the phone is locked! I'll email HTC! (might be due too new vodafone rom)
htc say that I might not have installed the new vodafone rom correctly (remove sim card). Have retried and all well tonight!

Lately my sms laaaaaaaaags a lot. After typing message and press send it takes ages to respond. Thought it was a problem of too many sms but even though I deleted all sms, problem still persists.

OK after looking for sevral long and mind numbing seconds i decided it would be best to check here... does anyone know what this means and why you would possibly want this function on a htc phone... (disconnect from network after sending/receiving messages).. to me it seems the equivalent of my tv asking if i would like it to not display images and project sound after i change channel (Which as a tv is its main function) Anyone???

I am facing endless problems with my Nubia Z17 mini that I recently purchased, and I need help to solve these issues. The issues are
a. The phone does not receive SMS, and I have to take out the sim card, reboot just to receive SMS. It makes the phone completely useless for financial transaction as I have to accept the bank's OTP by SMS
b. The phone can make a call, but when receive the call, there is no sound.
c. Delay notification for WhatsApp, line, emails, facebook, you name it. It only shows after 15 minutes or so.
d. The 4G LTE connection only works on sim 1, on sim 2, it stuck on 3g. I have swapped the sims and use other sims to test. The results are the same. Is this by default from Nubia?
e. Battery drain on background extremely fast, unusual for standby phone. The phone only last for 4-hour SOT with brightness 50%. Why is the power consumption very high?
f. When I try to watch video on youtube (online) or offline players, the video will stop intermittently, average every 1 minutes for an unknown reason. Make it unpleasant to use it to watch any video.
The phone came with Nubia UI 4.0 EN v2.01, and I have flashed and erased it multiple times to V2.10 EN. I have replaced the SMS app to Google but still does not work. Replace dialer with Go dialer and several other methods, but the phone is still full of problem. This is my first time to have a phone comes with so many problems like this. I could not return the phone to seller as the custom process is very complicated.
I am planning to replace the rom with lineageOS, but not sure if it will solve the problem. Any input, suggestion is appreciated

Hello,
if you have modified the default SMS application, some applications are not compatible (like Android Messages!) Indeed the phone kill some background tasks including Messages application (a firmware update had to correct the problem but it did not change anything for me). I don't know the list of compatible SMS applications but by putting the SMS app by default it works well!
For your battery problem is not normal, it should contact the service who will surely offer you a standard exchange.
my phone stopped receive incoming calls, i never rooted or installed a custom rom
i am on 7.1.2 stock, i reboot and i get calls a for a few hours then it stops working and all calls go straight to voice mail
also visual voicemail is no longer working
my carrier was not able to fix it
i reset wireless settings and it worked for a few hours then back to not getting calls again
i get data and full bars but no calls
what is going on here? is it my phone hardware ? my sim? my carrier, POS goolag software ?
any ideas i am desperate i do not want to get rid of this phone right now
1. Clean up your sim contacts with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isopropyl_alcohol
2. Use the nexus 6p factory image from the google website and run the flash-all command after you have backup your data to reinstall your whole phone

This happens every few months, my phone Mi 9T just stops receiving messages out of the blue. Using google message app, I am able to send message but if the recipient replies i will not receive. May never even receive till weeks later. I have moved the sim card into a different phone and it can receive and send with no issues so I don't think its my services.
After swapping sim cards I received all the messages i never got and then I put the sim card back into the Mi 9T and it seems normal again. Until randomly stopping again.
I like the phone and don't want to spend more money to replace a mint condition phone but this issue makes the phone a real pain to use, sometimes even unusable for messages and calls.
Has anyone encountered this issues and solved it?
I was considering if rooting and flashing a new OS from this forum will make the issue disappear.
I have those same issues honestly I've yet to find a fix. now that gpay has stopped working on miui 12 I'm gonna try rooting again and see if that fixes it
I fixed it by flashing Lineage OS, everything message and call related are working perfectly. With stock firmware notifications broke half the time, I missed a lot of professional calls with teams app, no notifications on screen for sms.... Despite all being set up

I'm trying to do the same now , however I cant seem to get it to boot was there a guide you used or just standard unlockboot, twrp, wipe and flash?

Then you will be able to boot ?
