Zenfone 4 and Max M1 and not showing in adb devices - Asus ZenFone Max M1 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I am Alex and totally new to this forum and indeed the topic of unlocking, rooting and custom roms. Want to try lineage and see what works and doesn't on something not my primary phone before breaking it. Luckily I have a couple of older ones, and one is supported by lineage like my current one. I am using OpenSuSE tumbleweed, Android tools, Studio and udev rules are installed. All mentioned phones are in dev mode. Here is the problem:
My Zenfone Max m1 is not appearing in adb devices. As I tried with my other phones I found out while two (7 and 8) do appear there is also one other (4) which does not either.
All can be listed with lsusb, and the two that are not working show the same device id which I did add to the 51-android-rules file. But I must still be doing something wrong.

Asus Zenfone Max Drivers - Help

Hi
I also had this problem.
Follow this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0MKgCbUM0itVVFWRC02Q0VBQnc/view"]https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0MKgCbUM0itVVFWRC02Q0VBQnc/view
Keep in mind that this will work on win 10. I've tested it on win 7 and during instalation (some blue screen installer) it was written that this is for Samsung device. Running same intaller on win 10 it gave info that this is for android or google something. So, it will work only on win 10.

macOS latest adb not discovering LEX727 latest release

Hello,
Here is my setup, everything is basically running the latest version:
* MacBook + USB-C-2-USB-A adapter + Micro-USB cable + Micro-USB-2-USB-C adapter
* macOS Sierra (Darwin 16.3.0)
* LEX727 stock 5.8.020S
* Android Studio 2.2.3
* Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.36 / Revision 0e9850346394-android
In fastboot mode, I can list my device:
Code:
$ fastboot devices -l
<serialnumber> fastboot usb:<XXXXXXXX>
But I am never able to see it using adb, despite enabling USB debug mode and whitelisting my MacBook (the phone asked for it):
Code:
$ adb devices -l
List of devices attached
I have this in the kernel logs though:
Code:
default 19:50:56.264047 -0700 kernel 055941.210517 [email protected]: IOUSBHostDevice::start: failed to get device descriptor
default 19:50:56.264327 -0700 kernel 055941.210797 [email protected]: AppleUSB20HubPort::resetAndCreateDevice: failed to start device
default 19:50:56.264392 -0700 kernel 055941.210862 [email protected]: AppleUSB20HubPort::resetAndCreateDevice: failed to create device (0xe00002e9), disabling port
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Was anyone successful in running adb with LePro3 on macOS? If so what is your setup?
I was able to make it work using a USB-C to USB-C cable. Fun thing, first time I plugged the phone to the laptop, the phone screen was turned off. And the laptop acted like if the phone was charging it! After turning the phone screen on, unplugging and replugging the cable, everything was fine (laptop charging the phone and not the other way around), and the device appeared in adb devices!

MTK Droid Tool does not show Essential Phone

Hello all,
For the past 5 hours I've been trying to root my phone, but I fail at the first step: making a backup of the IMEI/NVRAM.
So, what have I done:
- Downloaded the windows drivers from essential.com, and installed them on the PC.
- Download MTK Droid Tools from here, and extract them to the desktop
- Downloaded ADB, Fastboot and drivers from here (goto last page) and installed them.
On my Essential phone I enabled developer mode and went to "System" -> "Developer options" and enabled "OEM Unlocking" and "USB Debugging".
When the phone asked to allow USB debugging for that computer, I allowed.
According to to this guide, I should now start MTK Droid Tools and press "root". However, MTK Droid Tools does NOT show the device info, and on the bottom it says "The device isn't revealed. Connect or reconnect a cable!".
So I went to another PC, repeated all, and same.... Tested on win 10 (up-to-date) and win 7 PC. Tested all USB ports, nothing.
When I press "ADB terminal" in "MTK Droid Root & Tools v2.5.3", it opens command prompt.
Code:
[B]adb devices[/B]
returns:
List of devices attached
adb server version (31) doesn't match this client (39); killing...
* daemon started successfully *
When I close MTK Droid Root & Tools v2.5.3
and rerun:
Code:
[B]adb devices[/B]
List of devices attached
* daemon not running. starting it now at tcp:5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
PM1LHMA861101318 device
so, in conclusion: Phone is connected to the PC, ADB can find it, MTK cannot find the phone.
What am I doing wrong?
Edit:
For crying out loud:
You need to put the phone in "USB Preverences" -> "Use USB for" set to "USB tethering"
which results in:
Code:
--->>> Connect to device <<<---
--- ERROR : --- TotalBytesPerChunk Not Found. Set default Page/Spare=2048/64 !!!
--- Unknown ROM structure, backup NOT possible!
I'm still doing something wrong.... I guess?
Note: i'm running the latest android, 9 (patch 5 july 2018)
LOL
You definetely wrong. MTK Droid Tool for MTK CPU phone (mostly Chinese Phone) not for Essential Phone that use Qualcomm CPU.
Beside there is a post about Root Essential Phone why don't you search before try anything that maybe can bricked your phone.

Asus Zenfone 2 Laser Z011D ( ZE601KL) Windows 10 USB

I got a good Asus Zenfone 2 Laser device Z011D (ZE601KL) recently.
I am not able to get the PC to even recognize that the device is connected via USB. Any hints on what to check?
I've already checked that other Android phones can connect with the same cable and PC:
