Team Win Recovery Project or TWRP for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It's a fully touch-driven user interface, with no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML-driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Key Features:
Touchscreen-driven with real buttons and drag-to-scroll
XML-based GUI that allows full customization of the layout and true theming!
Settings are saved to the sdcard and persist through reboots
Ability to choose which partitions to back up and which to restore
Ability to choose to compress backups now with pigz (multi-core processor support for faster compression times)
Onscreen keyboard
Easy selection of internal/external storage
In addition to the above new features, TWRP features a scripting engine that allows an app to send commands to the recovery for the recovery to perform during startup. We call this scripting engine OpenRecoveryScript. This engine will be put to use immediately in the GooManager app. GooManager will be able to install recoveries automatically for most supported devices. The app will also let you choose to install multiple zips from within Android, wipe, and run a backup.

Hello, thanks for the hard work on TWRP for this device.
I am experiencing a problem in order to copy files on my device from TWRP using the mount option, it seems that there is a problem because the files won't copy, even creating new folders won't work, did I do something wrong?

I hope you have data decryption working. If not so, you did not do the correct steps. When installing the rom, make sure you format DATA using the recovery for the first-time installation

hey im trying to install the recovery using adb fastboot and every time i either try to boot into it ore flash it i see the twrp screen then it reboots into the os ,any advice on what i might be doing wrong?
Edit: i tried to boot into an older version of twrp to try to flash the new onw from there , it asked for a passsword so i went and just disabled my pin and tried to boot just too see what hapens into the a13 version and that time it actually botted up without crashing. So i think the problem was the model and now its working

Any plans to port TWRP 3.7.0 (Android 12.1 branch)?
This new version finally supports Android 12 decryption.

Thanks. Decryption working perfect.

Trying to follow the install procedure, but the fastboot part is never ending.
Note: the fastboot mode keys are Power + Volume Down.
Can you advice please?
Is there an alternative way to install TWRP on our device?
Regards,
Tyrell66

I am having an issue. I wiped Data, Cache and Dalvik, but when I try to copy files from my computer it says the device stopped responding or disconnected. Now I won't be able to use my phone.

AndroidHQ254update this thread when you have time please!

I follow some of tutorials in youtube about installing TWRP in j200f but all of them still boots in stock system boot recovery, and failed to flash TWRP. and now i notice in your last step of instruction on installation, that i should go to the boot recovery by doing this "Hold [Volume Up] + [Home] buttons near the end of the flash, and keep holding them until you are in recovery." should i wait for the RESET message in ODIN window? before i do the boot recovery mode? what do you mean "near the end of the flash" help please.

Video tutorial for rooting redmi 4/4x
I have unlocked my phone recently. And then I downloaded TWRP from "twrp.me" for my Redmi 4X. And I tried to flash it through adb and fastboot. And I successfully flashed. But unfortunately my phone doesn't boot to TWRP recovery except commanding through cmd "fastboot boot recovery.img". When I try to boot to recovery mode with volume up + power button, the stock recovery comes up. How can I fix this?

Thanks buddy
i was using twrp 3.0 but as i installed latest 3.1.1 it is encrypted and asking for password . Files are also not properly flashing . System mount unmount error etc. I did factory format , data wipes and also flashed recovery using fastboot but nothing happened but when i reverted back to twrp 3.0 all the problems were solved .
Same for me, went back to 3.0.3.0, too, because of the encryption problem. This might be solved (not testet yet):
see: h11ps://forums.oneplus.net/threads/fix-wrong-pin-pattern-when-restoring-twrp-nandroid-backup.452384/page-2#post-16003616
I just edited the scipt within the zip-file to only remove the locksettings.db (without testing, yet):
see: h11ps://forums.oneplus.net/threads/fix-wrong-pin-pattern-when-restoring-twrp-nandroid-backup.452384/page-2#post-15926929
Edit: just upgraded to "TWRP 3.1.0-1 Santoni.img" (see dl-link above) which runs without any problem so far...
Use TWRP 3.1.0..
DON'T use the newest 3.1.1.0... it's faulty as sh*te
Why i am not able to boot into recovery through advanced power option? Even i tried through power and volume up buttons but failed.... Please help me....
volumeup+volumedown+power=twrp recovery
Or use the twrp app to boot into recovery, BUT do not twrp update!! It'll update to the sh*te 3.1.1 version!

ZTE Blade V9 Vita, Install TWRP, Root & Custom Rom without bootloader unlock

Before doing this, carefully read the material and read the instructions. If you do everything point by point, then you will succeed.
1. Setup
Donwload the following utilities:
Partitions Flashing Tool - Universal partition tools for qualcomm snapdragon 435
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=952274&view=findpost&p=85383238
Custom Recovever - TWRP-3.3.1.0-V9Vita.img
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1diPzJ_qcZRvzVFPRdE139ggCk9vgzG72/view?usp=sharing
Disable encryption - Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_08.02.2019[1].zip (attached in theme)
2. Install
When you download all utillites, unpack Partition Flasting Tool in any folder and open batch file - PFT_V1.5_EN.bat, connect you're smartphone to PC, and press in utillites number 2 (ADB to Reboot EDL mode changer). You're phone go to EDL mode 9008. Tape number 4 (Backup One Partition), Enter COM Port, Enter target partition name: recovery. Next step is flash custom recovery - twrp.
Put file - TWRP-3.3.1.0-V9Vita.img in files folder, rename him in twrp.img. When is done, press number 5 (Flash one partition),
Enter COM Port:
Enter Target partition name: - recovery
Enter Flashing file name: - twrp (or your recovery file name)
After the installation of the process, turn on phone in recovery mode (VolumeUP+Power). In TWRP use swipe and go to Wipe, press right button Format Data, tape YES and OK. Done?! Go to EDL mode, use number 2 (ADB to Reboot EDL mode changer) in utillites PFT 1.5. Now need flash stock recovery (that you're backup). Use number 5 (Flash one partition),
Enter COM Port:
Enter Target partition name: - recovery
Enter Flashing file name: - recovery (or your recovery file name)
How it complete, turn on phone in recovery mode, now we are in stock recovery, press wipe data \ factory reset. Next go to EDL, use number 2 (ADB to Reboot EDL mode changer). Flash TWRP again as we as we did before. In EDL mode use press number 5 (Flash one partition):
Enter COM Port:
Enter Target partition name: - recovery
Enter Flashing file name: - twrp (or your recovery file name)
At the end of the installation, turn on phone in recovery mode (VolumeUp+Power), put zip file Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_08.02.2019[1].zip in any folder, flash him (this disable encryption (Otherwise you get an error - encryption failed)). When zip flash is done, reboot phone as system, now you have Working TWRP and correct Stock\Custom Roms install without error.
3. Install Custom Roms
Download any TREBLE Rom, example LineageOS 16.0:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/gsi-lineageos-16-0-gsi-arm64-ab-how-to-t3908029
Copy to phone and flash as img in system image, reboot to system, and wait for the installation process to complete. Use for your own purposes.
4. Install Custom Roms
Go to https://opengapps.org, Download any pack (pico), copy on the phone folder, reboot to recovery mode, go to Wipe, press left button - advanced wipe, tap on system (set checkbox on system), Tap on Repair or Change File System, next Change File System. Now you will not have error 70.
For root use magisk 16.0 or 16.7

The author has fixed all the problems in the recent update of version 1.20. I checked for past errors, there are none, so it is worth using PFT2 instead of PFT (I suppose PFT2 is a further development of the utility without the "2" in the name )

You can't get full root rights on your smartphone without unlocking the bootloader. The loader can't be unlocked without the factory (test) MBN file. ZTE really steamed over this.
To get incomplete root rights you need to:
1. Download the archive from this link (I'm new, you can't leave links, so take the QR code)

2. Extract ZIP archive, flash "bootmagisk160.fdf" to "boot" partition (or flash "bootmagisk167.fdf" [Beta])
3. Through device recovery mode, erase (wipe) all data
4. Install the file "magisk583.apk" (or "magisk591.apk" [Beta] for "bootmagisk167.fdf") on Android and check for root rights
hi, is there a video on this or something? i really cant understand the steps (at least in the PFT2 i just cant seen to make it work)

TWRP for LENOVO Tab M10 FHD - TB-X606F?

Hello, Possessing two tablets of this brand, I was wondering if a custom recovery existed for this one, I can look everywhere on all the forums, Russian, English, etc ... But, I do not find.
If anyone can create one with this SOURCE CODE from the tablet that would be super nice.
I succeded to install twrp on my lenovo x606F.
1) extract recovery.img from a downloaded full firmware
2) download "Mediatek (MTK) Auto TWRP recovery porter by Team Hovatek" v. 1.6 and use it to create a twrp.img from your recovery
3) flash your twrp image by adb:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
4) then flash an empty vbmeta.img that you find on team hovatek site by this command (Method 3 - Flashing vbmeta https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-32719.html ):
fastboot --disable-verity flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
5) reboot in recovery. You will receive a message that your partition is encrypted. tap "cancel" and follow the steps indicated on this page (Method 3 - Patching fstab in /vendor partition using TWRP + Text editor https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-30160.html ). You have to backup on your microsd your two fstab.* files in /vendor/etc folder and then modify as indicated. Then, by twrp, overwite them on your original files.
6) reboot in android and flash your original recovery
7) reboot in your stock recovery and make a full data erase. YOU LOST ALL YOUR PERSONAL DATA.
8) reboot in android and reinstall twrp recovery
9) reboot in your full working twrp recovery and check if it is all ok.
When you boot in your twrp, your screen is black, so you have to push power button to light your screen. You can fix it
by checking all three option in magisk manager (keep encryption, keep verity and recovey mode) and reinstall magisk root.
I'm not responsable for any damage on your device. Sorry for my english

Are you sure? TWRP Recovery Porter says that vbmeta.img must be flashed BEFORE twrp image.
I made several attempts to install twrp. When I succeeded, I installed vbmeta.img after twrp. But, during my previous attempts, I had already installed vbmeta. So, it is possible that the right steps are to install it first.
So, did anyone else succeed with these steps?

Nope. I tried 3-4 times, no way. The only result is that my tab's clock becomes late 11k seconds after each reboot
Guys someone has a working twrp image for android 10?

I just rooted Lenovo M8 FHD TB-8705F (Android 9) using the Hovatek Method 3 guide:
flashed empty vbmeta
flashed boot.img created by Magisk
I tried the steps above with the TB-X606F on Android 10 (I used the lenovo recovery tool to rescue os and ended up with android 10) and I am unable to get it working. If I flash the generated twrp image and the vbmeta one (doesn't matter which order) and reboot recovery I get a black screen and no amount of pushing the power button gets the screen to turn on. I have not tried the boot.img file generated by Magisk yet. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hi all,
I got my TB-X606F today and I'm having a hard time getting fastboot to work. I installed the official MTK driver from google and in my device manager its visible as Android ADB Interface
on my tablet I see the fastboot mode in the lower left corner.
fastboot devices shows nothing on cmd.
Any ideas?
OS Windows 10

I have the same problem and can't proceed rooting for this reason.
adb works fine. Device is shown, commands like reboot into fastboot mode works fine. But "fastboot devices" does not show an entry.
I've tried to (re-) install the drivers CDC, VCOM, ... several times. I'v tried the "Latest ADB Fastboot and USB Driver installer tool for Windows". Doesn't work.
In device manager, Android Bootloader Interface is shown with an error.

To fix this update your driver to Samsung's adb interfrance and it will work.
I got my TB-X606F rooted but struggle to install TWRP. I believe I'm on Android 10, the latest? I used [Hovatek] Mediatek Auto TWRP Recovery Porter V1.7a by Team Hovatek because I couldn't find version 1.6. I got the recovery.img directly from TB-X606F_S300007_200923_BMP.zip. I select Android 10 in the Android Version and output the TWRP recovery. Then I flashed and flashed the vbmeta (both the version from my zip file and the version from Hovatek. Then I flashed using multiple instructions. When I boot to recovery, it just gives the orange box screen then eventually fully boots to OS. Anything I'm forgetting?
I upgraded to Android 10. I installed again twrp by "Mediatek Auto TWRP Recovery Porter V1.7a". Android 10 version don't work well. "Pie Kernel 4.9.117" version works perfectly. The steps I follow are similar to my previous post. Insted of "forceencrypt" there is "forcefdeorfbe" in fstab.mt6765 file.

FAQ
Q: Can i use this recovery with other firmware then mentioned in compatibility?
A: Only with same Android version or Rollback protection might kick in and you won't be able to pass the lockscreen.
Q: Where do i get vbmeta.img?
A: From here, download the one you need according to install instructions.
Q: TWRP can't mount data partition, what to do?
A: Make sure you formatted data partition.
Q: Phone is not booting even after 20 minutes
A: Try to reboot. If still not booting, make sure you flashed multidisabler zip / formatted data partition.
Q: How to format data partition?
A:
Q: Phone is showing only Samsung logo
A: Try to reboot. If still not booting, consider installing an older TWRP build or a more recent firmware. If you still don't succeed, post here some details about your device and previous firmware and we might be able to help.
Q: Why do i need to format data partition?
A: Because old firmware encrypted your data partition and new rom can't decrypt and use that content / root needs access to data partition to place misc files / phone not booting after flashing root until data partition gets formatted.
Updated first post with official pages from twrp.me, but since the builds are not up yet, i posted latest test builds in post #2.

well done sir

Can you attach a screenshot of Odin and eventually tell me if you see anything in particular changing on phone screen? It should throw an error or something below the usual download mode lines. A pic of phone screen would be nice but i'd assume it's your only phone..

And how to flash the multidisabler? it seems that everything is encrypted and is impossible to locate it in twrp?
I found it!
1. enter into TWRP (after flashing twrp.tar and Vbmeta.tar via odin), format data and reboot again in TWRP
2. Being in TWRP, transfer from PC to your phone multidisabler.zip and magisk zip.
3. flash them both
4. reboot system
That is all!

Thank You very much. It worked!
A big thank you, it works fine.
hey.
i did everything from this guide, and i got root access+twrp installed.
the problem that i am facing, is that i canot install anything from twrp, due to insufficient space.
the system size that twrp is reading is only 8384kb, so every installation of gapps is failed.
i tried to wipe ,format data, and changing the file system, but nothing helped.
please give me an idea how to solve it.
thanks.
Good day
Does this work for Android 13 One UI 5.1?
