Well there seems to be a lot of views about the best cases out there, just wondered what the most 'pocket friendly' case was?
Don't care about the material as long as it isn't a sock or a stick-on option (ie an actual case)
Definitely no belt loop, preferably a very low profile clasp etc...
Basically just want something that is likely to stop it getting scratched up in a bag or if it was dropped, but don't need full armour!
Any good suggestions?
I've been looking for something pocket friendly as well... I'm almost ready to just get a thin sunglass pouch... currently I'm using a case for a Sprint Mogul, but it has a belt clip...
i use an ipod slip case, and have pulled off the belt clip, gives good protection to the screen,
going to order a leater slip case from www.pdair.com to see what thats like

i would be interested in your opinions and if you could confirm these points for me:
1) Can you still use the touch screen?
2) If the slide up and tilt works fine with the case on
3) The general quality and how bulky it is in a pocket
this looks perfect for me as i wanted a 2 piece armour case where i could still slide open the phone

The "tiltflipblack" is made by PDair and is available for 1/2 that price. I've had one for several weeks and it still looks new, and I wear it every day. It's the perfect case for me.
The slimest most "pocketable" case I've found yet, is the formfitting Noreve case as seen here:

It is also one of the very few - true - formfitting cases (using a laminated leather design, w/o the ugly and disturbing plasting cover over the KB. It protects the front and back really well, if not so much the sides. Easy to use and good workmanship.
Actually it IS meant (IMO) for pocket carrying.
Have it for about a month, still looks as new. If however looking for a drawback, then to my daily use pattern there is one. While in the case using the Kaiser/Tilt for navigation (in a cradle) needs taking it out of the case.

Just wanted to add my comments based on owning 4 different cases for the Tilt/Kaiser ...
The PDAir aluminum cased is good and pocketable. It is a little on the heavy side, but I've carried it arond now for a couple of weeks and it's all right. The downside is that there is a hard plastic protector over the touchscreen of the Tilt. You have to open the case to use the touchscreen or you have to take the hard plastic out. You can either cut out or push it out with some force, but the plastic is glued in and is under the neoprene that cushions the Tilt against the case. Not the smallest feel in the pocket, but no leather covered cardboard bulk feel. The size of this reminds me of a naked 8125 in my pocket (did that without disaster for almost 2 years).
I also tried the PDAir leather flip case. That one is definitely not pocketable unless you have some REALLY big pockets. And I'm not a big flip cover guy. Another strike is the plastic keyboard cover.
I also tried the Noreve and it's a nice leather case. I would consider this one pocketable, it's rather slim. But it has the flip cover. The good thing is that it has no plastic keyboard cover. It's a little loose when you close the cover with the snap. It's not loosely held in ... that's a good fit. But the snap doesn't hold the flip cover down as firmly as I'd like.
Lastly, I JUST snapped on one of the plastic snap-on kind. Good fit, but not sure how much the plastic will help in a fall. It snapped on tightly ... so tightly it took 15 minutes to get it off! I did not like that at all. If something goes wrong and you need to drop the battery quickly ... 'quickly' won't happen with this case. You can still use the touchscreen and it's a very tight snap on fit. Doesn't add much bulk or weight for pocket storage. NOTE: if you pick one of these up, be careful and check whether the belt clip button on the case is screw on or permanent. The permanent ones won't be pocketable.
The best feel in the pocket is the plane Tilt/Kaiser with no case. But I know I'm pushing my luck if I continue to do that. Still switching up to see what I end up liking most. Hope this info helps folks.

YES!
The openings for the keypad and LCD are tappered to provide the best access to the edges but they become alittle harder to get at due to the thickness of the plastic.

Yes the screen slides out and up to the normal position. The upper softkeys are silightly harder to get at when tilted due to the tickness of the plastic.
3) The general quality and how bulky it is in a pocket
Fit was tight, and snapped into place. I do not plan to use the clip as it is optional, but I will follow up with a proper review and test it out. I will get exact mesuraments later but it is not a big change and well worth the extra size.

What I do not understand about using the transparent plastic snap, is why the hack would one need a case at all when all the really "pocket sensitive" components (Touch screen, Camera lens) are not covered at all... IMO if one is indiferent to this, they may not need a case at all.
I guess that all cases are kind of trade offs. Whatever protects adds bulk in the zones protected, light protection protects less than heavy armor but presents snappier use and so on.
The potentially best solution I've seen yet is actually not offered for the Tilt/Kaiser. It is made by EB Cases and called the eNovo. It is made of sturdy yet thin laminated leather, offering a form fitting case with an optional leather flip.

I picked this up from DayDeal.com and it didnt' fit my ATT tilt. the back does but the front will not stay on

I am one of the unlucky few to have dropped my Kaiser's and thereby damaged its LCD. I am about to replace the LCD.
At the same time, I want to prevent future damage and wondering what case might best protect the Kaiser, even it it is accidentally dropped.
I have reviewed the lengthy thread on "what is the best case for the Kaiser", but the verdict is not clear. I want a case that:
* gives me easy access to the device and most functionality like keyboard, without having to take it out (hence the pouches are out)
* allows me to use the screen
* I can put in my pocket and with an optional belt clip (I hardly use it)
* most importantly, protects the body of the device and the screen.
* does not add too much bulk
* should be able to sit in a vehicle mount
I am inclined toward the Seidio Slim rubberized case or the PDair aluminion metal case. Both of them seem to protect the body of the device, but don't seem to protect the screen.
Alternatively, I am thinking of the leather case (flip-type preferred) such as:
* Proporta Alu-Leather Case
* PDair Leather case (I like the crokodile pattern)
* Noreve case
* Krussel's Orbit with Multiadapt
What would you recommend ?

I have the Krussel. Like it alot and have the multidapt car holder as well. Extremely well made and very protective. I know I can drop it and it will be fine. Haven't tried, but it's that well constructed. Easy to use the belt clip and to take it off and put it in a pocket.
Big. Does not fit conveniently in jeans pocket. Swore I'd never use a belt clip, but I do now unless I'm wearing shorts or pants with a bigger pocket. However, the size is a tradeoff with protection. Most of the other cases I've used did not protect the screen much or at all. This has two layers of screen protection. Again, I think you'd have to try to break it if it's in the case.
A bit of a pain to use the camera. Everything else is very accessible, but you have to fold the protective layer over to use the camera. Not awful, but not super convenient.
If you don't mind the size, I'd highly recommend.

The size does not bother me very much because, most often, i keep the device in my brief case, and then use my bluetooth headset (Sony DS980) to make and receive calls. I rarely interact with the device directly (e.g., when I need to use the calender, GPS, etc). Hence i might sacrifice weight over protection.

I got one of those metal cases for mine it has a glass pice over the screen to protect it. its got a hinge at the back so you can open it to use the touch screen I got it off of ebay for like $20 only thing is its realy slick and hard to hold onto sometimes.

yea I updated my privious post and yes it sets firm it has this black foam pading inside the case to keep from scraching it too it comes in 2 colores black and grey

I have looked in a dozen places I cant find a difference they both look like the exact same thing I got the Monaco Aluminum Case
I've got the PDair aluminium case. There's hard plastic over the screen, and it's fits quite well (better than a similar case I got for my old Hermes).
I have the monaco case. Hard Plastic covering the screen. Its saved my phone many times over already.
I was browsing through the net and came across this invisible sheild. Looks good. Has anyone tired this?

I have it on my Hermes and like it for the most part. I like how they have a lifetime warranty on it. The downside is that it collects dust on the edges at times and installation isn't so fun (although i would assume it to be a lot easier for the X1 since it is more of a geometric figure).
I think its a must for the X1 specially the black ones which are having a issue of color giving away.
My concern was has anyone installed it on the x1?

Generally the Invisible Shield provides great protection against small bangs and is certainly scratch proof. I have previously applied to an iPod Touch and to an Omnia and they both covered the entire surface area of the device. I was slightly surprised to find some areas, albeit very small areas to the side of the X1, were not covered by the skin. This, however, is pretty insignificant and all the main areas are well protected including the screen. I have read on other forums that the sizing of the the screen protector has caused some people problems but with a bit of manipulation, it fits perfectly under the rim of the case. Installation can be a bit fiddly but providing you use the included squeegee, any air bubbles or slight discrepancies disappear in a couple of days when the application liquid dries out.
I love the slightly 'rubbery' feel as it helps grip and I think it also feels nice on tactile for the stylus on the screen.
All in all, to be recommended.
I have read of a few problems with this particular shield, the lettering ripped off the back when trying to fix or replace the plastic... pain in the rear to put on etc, if I can find the links I will post them later...

I definately wouldn't stick anything like this to the body of my phone and am even hesitant to stick shields to my screen but have done anyway.
I decided to go for a crystal case. The first time I have used one and normally preferred silicon cases.
The last silicon case is the one currently on my iPhone and although it protects from slight scratches (coins etc on the back) it does nothing for dropping it.
The silicon simply compressed when the phone hit the floor and it got a nice deep scratch on the corner just as if it had had no cover.
I put the screenshield I got for the iphone on my xperia instead and bought this crystal case.
It's a nice fit, holds nicely, everything is nicely accessible and it seems sturdy.
I havn't dropped the phone yet so can't comment on its performance in this circumstance but i'm sure i will find out son enough.
Problem with the logos is that they are printed onto the paint which in turn is painted on to the metal. Before my crystal case I already have a few parts where the black paint on the battery cover has scratched off.
Crystal case pros: cheap, sturdy, effective, easy to apply and remove.
Crystal case: Cons: Lots of dust gets under them so if you want your phone to look nice you need to take it off and wash it regularly.

Just a quick question, as a search did not reveal the answer, but is it possible to remove the len cover on the back of the HD2? As you will all know, it is very sharp - I don't tend to use the leather cover and it is starting to wear a hole in my jeans!
Looking at it the camera sensor itself is flush with the plastics of the device, but what I do not know is if the lens cover is simply stuck over the top of this, or if it covers any extra holes in the case.
Obviously it would need an alternative cover, which I am sure I could fabricate out of something, but was wondering if anyone else had been brave enough to remove it yet before I break my phone

Do you really think its a good idea?
I use my case from time to time, but it's usually in my pocket on it's own. Certainly never uncomfortable and not close to making a hole in my pocket. I was told how sharp it was in the store when the O2 girl mentioned it had scratched their white desks, but since mine arrived it's never marked anything or been an issue.
I use the Proporta Mizu Shell case and this reduces the sharpness somewhat (although I've never felt the camera was sharp enough to wear a hole in my jeans). Maybe bigger jeans would help
i thought it was just my hd2 that could be used for cutting tiles but i solved the problem by buying a silicone case which covers up the edges of the camera.
I got a noreve case with which I am very pleased - it completely covers up the sharp bit (unless you want to take a photo). Much better than a damaged HD2.
Go to the accessories forum and look at the extensive suggesions there for cases, there's one out there with your name on it.

Don't put the HD2 in your jeans, you will soon damage the screen.
Use a case, the slip case your HD2 came with is perfect. Every time you take the phone out, rest it on the case. No damaged phone and no scratched table etc.

Hey guys! I have a question to ask you fellow SGS II owners, ive noticed that there is a faint "scratch" line forming on the edge of the back of the phone ( the chin part where the antenna is) on mine and my friends, where the battery cover meets the chin, there is a faint scratch/used out line forming on the chin.
Have any of you guys noticed this on your S2, is it something to be concerned about?, the line is really faint but i fear it might get worse over time; its honestly the only thing that makes me want to put a case on this thing because the body is perfect otherwise.

yeahh, i just hate using cases because then the phone gets all bulky and loses its amazing thinness! but yeah if this scratch thing is bad then i guess ill likely use a case

Personally I had to get a case for mine, as it is just too ludicrously thin and light it didn't feel right in my hand... Just saying.

yep tha bit of the sgs2 will pick up scratches and show them more then others , it comes into touch with things before most parts of the phone ie laying it camera side down the bit you mention will always be leant on by the rest of the phone
if you are a bit like me and dont like scratches then the casemate tough is defo a good option
however i do agree with you the sgs2 feels so nice without a case its a tricky one i love the way it feels without a case yet i know ill be gutted when it gets scratched :-(
on the other hand can an item i use so much as my sgs2 be expected not to pick up useage marks?? it gets used loads and its bound to pick up wear marks no matter how hard you try to keep it nice
2 options i reckon , get used to the case on the device or learn to live with useage marks tiny little useage scratches aint so bad its when chunks are missing from drops etc
You could buy the zagg invisible shield full body, and you will not notice any difference in weight or size then and you phone will be protected against scratches.
I have my cases on hold, while i think about the new Samsung 2000mah battery as normal might not fit and it would be a waste of money buying one now.

CaseMate added weight and reduced the risk of dropping my baby because of the rubber surface
The back cover on this phone doesn't make a sound, but in terms of durability is CHEAP AS HELL: it gets scratched very very easy...the first layer is really thin and weak, and when it starts wearing off the back cover begins to look white/gray, and that's really annoying. I keep my phone in a case pulling it out just to clean it from time and it's already full whitish micro scratches. God knows what would happen to it without a proper case... Also the screen is very prone to scratches: personally i haven't scratched mine because i use a protector since day 1, but a friend of mine went without it for a day and his screen had at least 5 micro scratches already. Note that he's a bank clerk, not a bricklayer, and no, he doesn't carry uncut diamonds in his pockets.
I know that gorilla glass is scratch resistant and not scratch proof, but on the GS2 there's a layer of oleophobic coating on it, which scratches really easy. Be careful with your phone guys, screen protector and case is a must have on this guy
Yes, the scratches on that lip will certainly get worse if you don't cover that area by some method. I think mine got there just from going in and out of my Jeans pocket..
I held the same opinion as OP.. why cover up this of all devices, with it's USP of ultra fine lightweight design? I finally resolved to putting a case on mine when, heavily burdened by shopping bags, I attempted to quickly pull the phone out of my pocket to answer a call but instead lost my grip and sent it cartwheeling across a concrete pavement. All four corners now bear nasty dents/abrasions. A case means a more firm grip and covers up said ugly fall damage...
