I Need Help To Decide - Samsung Galaxy M30s Questions & Answers

Guys, I'm in between with m30s and m51. The only two things I'm looking for are screen and battery life. So I was really happy to mod my Redmi note 8 pro I don't think I will struggle while modding a Samsung Device. The only question that remains is. Do a 7000mah battery with no longer support for modding or a 6000mah battery with the still alive modding community? And is there a telegram channel for Samsung galaxy M device discussions that we can talk about this in detail?

Help please : Poor battery life in note 3

Hello all
1. i am a galaxy note 3 (N900,Dec 2013 model) user from India. I had bought this phone from my cousin post 5 months of usage. As a whole the phone is great and I am happy with it. my problem is that I am getting very poor battery backup. with full charge and moderate use , I am getting a backup of 16-17 hours average with a screen time of 4 to 5 hours. Please note that I use the phone mainly for browsing the net ,whatsapp and calls for less than an hour daily. As 3G or WDMA drains my battery swiftly i have put it on GSM only. Guys ,do everyone get the same backup ? Especially those who are having phones 8 months or more old ?? And its worth mentioning that i put my screen on auto brightness (mostly in low mode ), has disabled gestures and wifi ,gps are always off.i have tried the power saving mode and there is no much difference.i clear the background applications regularly, but still more than 2 GB of my ram will always be in use. sometimes i feel my phone is getting heated, especially when i keep it on my ears when making calls. I still have 4 months of warranty remaining , is there really any problem with my phone or is it the battery who is the villain?? Please help me. your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
2. I also hear a mild noise running in the background when making calls , is this a problem with the phone or network ?
Should i ROOT my phone ? will it do any good regarding the battery life ?? what all are the pros and cons of rooting
cheers
Dr Heart
PS: i opted for note 3 for its battery and its the thing that i am getting the least now
Below are the screenshots of my battery usage. please go through it

Note 2 owner willing to upgrade to Edge

Hello everyone .
I am currently a Note 2 owner and I skipped upgrading to note 3 as it did not seem such a big upgrade to me plus all the goods <software> was brought to me by the devs of the Eteam . Was willing to upgrade to Note 4 but then Edge came along and now thinking of getting one of these frontier devices.
The problem that I see from the forum is the battery life in this device , I can consider myself a power user and I do get in average of 4 to 5 hours of screen time on the 2 year old Note 2, anyone coming from Note 2 can shed some light regarding this issue as I am so used to have more than just 4 hours of screen time and that is a compromise I am not willing to make since I consider this am upgrade , is Edge worth or better get a Note 4 ?
Thank you in advance.

Here's the thing, note edge/note 4 has double the screen resolution as your note 2, and the edge has a battery 100mah less than the n2. Granted the processor can give you plenty of standby time, but screen on time won't be as good as you currently have it. You can always carry a spare battery, since it's a Samsung.

I thought the new screens are more power efficient <25 %> compare to the 2 year old tech on the Note 2.
So with a Note 4 would be also the same issue you say ?

I had the Note 2 and it was not exactly a stellar performer in SOT from what I recall. You won't notice much difference going to the Note4 or Edge in that regard. Maybe a slight improvement. But the screen quality and performance will more than make up for it. Plus the new fast-charging capabilities are pretty effective.

Ultra power saver mode is a plus... going from note 2 to 3 to edge... its really a notable difference...

You can get the Ultra power saver mode too in custom roms but I am asking in identical conditions, which of the 2 has longer screen time , it makes no sense to me to use a 1000 usd device in black and white just bcs of the battery .

You can't compare the note 2 and note 4 or Edge as apples to apples. The processor alone on the Note 4 is more efficient. And if you get the T-Mobile variant you'll get root and can do greater control of things that eat battery.
But even the stock versions allow you to at least disable most of the bloat or apps you won't use thereby stretching the battery life out.
I have both the note 4 and note edge and get at least a full day on them. I consider myself an average user doing primarily email, music, web and some gaming (temple run 2 is my addiction) and I get at least 4 hours of screen time with about 25-30% battery left by the time I go to bed.
I picked up the Edge after having a Note 2 from release. I see a massive battery life difference for the better. I had replaced the battery in my Note 2 twice, and in it's prime with Ditto Note flashed, I was pulling almost a full day if not a full day of heavy use. Since picking up the note, I've been getting home from work with atleast 30% left. Actually, I don't think I've had a low battery notification since I picked it up. Looking forward to rooting, but out of the box...I'm impressed Samsung.
OMG N2 to N-edge
YOU WILL LOVE IT, I cant put it down. The phone drinks battery but purchased 2 extra batteries with portable charger. When you buy the phone samsung gives you 50% off all accessories. Well worth it, I loved the N2 and the N3 wasn't enough to upgrade off contract. N-Edge AWESOME:laugh::laugh::laugh::silly::silly::silly::victory::victory::victory:
And as an added bonus, the edge has 'adaptive charging' which allows you to go from 0%-50% in 30 minutes. That combined with 'quick charge 2.0' and swappable batteries, you should be good to go.

This was SOT of my Note 2 when battery was new.
More than 9 hours on one charge.
When I hear you guys telling that I need to carry a spare battery with me or that the supercharger does 50 % in 30 min , I simply get scared.
Of course I will root and debloat the device but .............
Still sitting on a fence about getting this awesome device or not.
Thank you all for the feedback.
Maybe someone will come out with an extended battery that will last all day? At least I hope they do.

Same situation. Same comments. I'm on the att varient. I heavily modified my note 2 and frankly I'm OK with no root for now. Very happy with my upgrade.
I switch from a Note II to the Note Edge a few days ago and I love it! The only thing I'm missing is root... Ordered the spare battery charging kit just like with the Note II using the 50% off coupon. do iT!
I'm in the same boat.... but want an exynos version. ...

You'll receive a 50% off coupon code once you register your device with Samsung. It's a one-time use only... Hope that helps!
My Note 3 has about 15% better battery stats than my Note 2. The Note 4 from what I can tell is about the same as my 3 but that's with the higher res screen. My guess is that the Edge will be about the same as the 2, at least that's what I'm expecting anyway.
Now only those with an edge could attest to this but if you use your edge screen wisely to skip all the full screen on 10 sec checks of whatever wouldn't that save bat in the long run. If you can quickly edge through your notification without turning the whole thing on that should save you lots by the end of the day.

Noob Questions: Emojis and battery life questions

Hello everyone! I recently bought a Note 4 from a trade and I had not realized that that state of rooting for the Verizon Note 4 was so bleak. I'm kind of dealing with it for now, but my biggest (and pettiest issue) with the stock Note 4...is the Samsung emojis. I've learned to tolerate and edit most of the other stock features, but I really just want Google emojis back. Is there any kind of workaround for this? Preferably for the entire system and not just for my messaging app, but I'll take what I can get.
Also, how is the battery life for everyone? On my first day I got 3hrs SOT, but I just assumed it was because I was downloading all of my old files and apps back. Any words of advice for better battery life?
Thanks for any feedback!

Quite honestly, I would search/ask in that specific thread about the ROM about battery stats using AOD. You'd be surprised how many people have the same question and how helpful some people are with the same device and same ROM
Wow, just wow...
This is the limitation of Note 3's hardwares. Just accept what the 4yrs old phone can give you.

Xiaomi is a **** company who produces crappy phones, that s the conclusion i came.

I own 2 redmi 3 pro's for more than a year. The first thing that annoyed me was their stupid policy to lock bootloader and unlock it only with their agreement. But i would say I could get over this. The biggest problem for me was battery and SOT. After more than one year of use, the batteries are crappy and Sot is around 2 maybe 3 hours on both of them. By comparison, i use a zuk z1 with a 4100 mah bought 6 months ahead of xiaomis who can deliver 4-5h average sot after more than a year and half of use. I tried custom many custom roms, problem is not the software, but the hardware, batteries on xiaomi are crap. I was going to say maybe it s an accident, but i own two phones of the same models. I m just curious, what is you experience after a year of use? Do your batteries have the same ****ty sot like mine?
Nope.
I've been using Redmi 3 for almost a year and I can get 6+ hrs of SoT and it can survive the long school time here.

I have been using my Redmi 3 since February 2016, I have been updating it every week on Xiaomi.eu. Besides maybe two bugged versions battery life is still superb, 9 hours SOT on WiFi is no problem, on mobile data more like 6 hours.
This thread is really stupid and only cause flaming: I own a Redmi 3 pro since june 2016 and have no problem with my battery that is more than one year old!! I can reach about 6 hour and a half of SOT with LOS 14.1 and about the same with MIUI weekly buids (that I don't use since last june!). I don't understand who just want to denigrate a very good phone with good specifications at an excellent price. If you didn't like it just put it in garbage and don't buy again from XIAOMI but don't bother us with your mental problems!
I bought this one year ago. I'm really happy with Redmi 3's battery life (10 hours wth) and its durability (what do we call it again?). I once dropped it on the swimming pool, but everything was fine after that.
My note 4 MTK has a horrible battery life. But my Redmi 3 is great. About 6 hours screen on time. Around 7 or more of in just ebooking.
I'd say the hardware is really good. The only thing I got pissed off is xiaomi's decision to release broken kernel for ido, which particularly made los based roms lag a lot when playing games compared to miui. It forced me to use miui which is den of "certain something's" spies.
I just can report that after 1 year and 3 months of usage (phone was bought in june 2016) Redmi 3's battery is still in good state. I have an charger-meter, and if the battery is completely drained-off, the meter still shows about 3.800 mAh after a full recharge. Note that the battery once had a nominal capacity of 4.100 mAh. So it has still 93 % of its original capacity, which is after 15 months of usage still a good value.
For that price, is not obviously iPhone, but I have Redmi over year and working perfect without any issues. Better than Samsung. It is very good compromise and price/quality result.

Me too, only thing that is not good is the Android 5.1 in 2017, is so much laggy then Nougat or Oreo Uptade
The Hardware full support that updates, but xiaomi don't wanna build for us ...
