[Q] How to update to kitkat? via Odin

I know the title is pretty noob and lots of thread are already there. I already searched some and can't find the answers I'm seeking so Im gonna make a new thread for it
ok here goes...
I have 4.3 jellybean running on my Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500
I tried an OTA update but it says its on the latest update
Also, I tried connecting it to kies 3 but tells me that
" Your device current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via kies "

Any other options to update? My phone is not rooted and will never root
I'm pretty noob at flashing but can learn
Also sammobile wont let me register I don't know why but the anti spam image won't show up so do not redirect me towards that site
I appreciate if someone would put a detailed instruction or a link to a thread which I haven't seen yet that will update my s4

1. I'd be careful. you are fresh, KIES and OTA is not giving you update => most likely 4.4.2 was not released for your region yet.
2. IF you really want to do the update... go to http://www.sammobile.com register, check the firmware section.
WARNING: before reding, research, review of comments related with 4.4.2 (SD card access problem, wifi and other problems), I'd thin twice before update.

thanks mate! but still can't see the capcha had my friend to reset it
by the 1 more question, can I flash any stock rom in any country? my stock rom is AFR which is in Kenya can I use something like India?
and can I flash without rooting? and how do I flash those ?
EDIT : Choose a random country and flashed it now im on 4.4 thanks for the effort

Even though the OP is posting the flashable zip & no one else has? I guess i can see if its not *rooted* but this is where I came to see if there was a flashable stock ota file first

No development in OTAs.
No development in flashable zips.
No development = no dev section no matter how important or useful it may be.

Was hoping for a flashable zip! I received a notification for an update, I rather do a zip!

Sorry guys, I wasnt aware its already posted, im almost done uploading on my work network.
the file is the pure OTA file, not a modified, unencrypted root zip (sadly) im hoping posting it this way helps a dev create the kind of file we need to flash.
I believe this is a dev thread as it is a flashable zip (even though its unrooted and encrypted) and can help with development.

Error on OTA install
So I know there are tamper checks for if you root, but what if you get an error while sideloading and you aren't rooted?
This is the error I get:

Should I install it or should I wait until a flashable zip can be made?

This. Its quite annoying.

The new file system format for the OTAs is designed to fail at the slightest change to your device. If I understand things correctly, there is no chance to use the OTA unless you are 100% stock. This is new for Lollipop.

Least I'm not alone on this. Have you done anything to your phone? ie root, rom, etc.?

I believe they do a diff on the entire partition, so even removing added files or undoing edits won't fix it. Timestamps were updated and new filesystem blocks were allocated.

[Q] D802 OFFICIAL update to Lollypop

hello everyone. I use a rooted d802 LG g2 in kitkat v4.4.2 . I know once I root the phone, I wont get notified of the official update available from LG to turn into Lollypop. But i want to know has the d802 model started to get official lollypop update? If yes, then I would want to unroot the phone back, to get the official update, I think.
Or, can anyone suggest me a nice rom for upgrading to lollypop, where all the functions of the phone works?? (eg. i have seen some where the video function doesn't work, hdr mode doesn't work etc...)

here is the flashable *.zip file wich installs latest Sony Bugfix Release of Stock 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM 23.4.A.0.570 (Japan), latest SuperSu v2.49 beta (works stable for me since weeks!) and latest NUT Dualrecovery 2.8.21 with read and write access to system. Because device is Wi-Fi only region doesn´t matter. Only difference is maybe pre installed bloatware by region.
Thx to PRF Creator and Flashtool.
UPDATE - FILE DELETED. Please use Release from kulvertti
Of course i tested the release before uploading on my own Device. So far no errors found after upgrading.

Copy zip-file on SDCARD.
Go to recovery.
Install zip-file.
Reboot the system.

No. The Checksum Creation is not needed and only optional at PRF Creator. Never needed it for myself.

I'd also like the MD5. After I download, I'll post it. But if anyone else already has it, please post.

Tested and did not see much difference, the "No Service" in the lockscreen still there. Sony is either blind or deaf - did not see the bug itself or not listen to the users.:crying:

Sorry for the amateur hour question, but I am 100% new to this rooting bussiness.
Do I need to Root my Z2 tablet before I do this?
Is there anywhere a ELI5 guide for someone who has never rooted a device before and is therefore ignorant about all the terms (Prerooted, ROM, Kernel, Flashing, etc)
my tablet is updated to 5.1.1 build 23.4.A.0.546

No gurantee. Better pack your own with the Tools from first Post. It's easy.

Just flashed .570 last night and this morning I'm not getting 5gHz Wi-Fi. My dual band router is serving both bands to other devices, so that works; it's successfully serving my SGP511 at 2.4gHz. Anybody else? More importantly, any ideas how to diagnose the problem (I'm stumped)?

Check your Router. No problems here using 2.4 and 5.

You're being misguided here a little bit.
You will not be able to install dual recovery because you will not be able to gain root. Your device is having lollipop, so exploits used to for gaining root will not work in your case.
What you need to do is to downgrade from LP to some kitkat version where the exploits will work. Then you'll be able to install dual recovery and only after that you'll be able to flash pre-rooted lollipop.
To downgrade you need to use FTF from FTF collection (version prior to or equal 17.1.A.0.402)

First of all, please do NOT posts questions, requests, and other similar items in the DEVELOPMENT SECTION. This is where the devs post their works. Please direct this to APPROPRIATE CHANNELS. Go ask again in the Q&A SECTIONS of this device.
secondly, one way of fixing your problem is to install twrp using fastboot. then install hassanmirza's eliterom. follow the instructions CAREFULLY. skip one and you'll get a bootloop or worst.

install elite ron and patch every thing will work i've been in that

Try installing Elite ROM from https://forum.xda-developers.com/8-lite/development/elite-rom-elite-rom-v5-1-honor-8-lite-t3698086
and then if you want to come back to stock, you can via dload.

Issue Resolved and happy to have that rom... i spoke to Hassan Mirza about rom to appreciate and he says he gonna Launch V7 soon
