Gallery app - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello. Is there an official gallery app for the S6 lite please. At the moment when I'm on camera and click on the small icon of a taken photo, I get a popup saying "unable to find application to perform this action". I use Google photos as a workaround but I have to exit the camera app every time. Thanks for your help.

Yes there is. The Gallery app comes preloaded on all Samsung tablets.

I don't have it.

Did you buy this tablet new or used? Samsung Gallery is preloaded and cannot be uninstalled. If you bought the tablet used, the previous owner may have disabled or deleted it via a package uninstaller. You may have to do a factory reset to bring it back.

I bought this tablet new. It's the s6 lite.

Like I said, the Gallery app is stock on all Samsung devices. Try installing from the apk (see link).
Download Samsung Gallery 12.1.07.5 APK
- SamMobile
www.sammobile.com
If that doesn't work you're going to have to back up your data and factory reset the tablet.

Still no luck with that link. I don't think it's worth the hassle to factory reset.

It may be worth the hassle. Like I said, Gallery is preloaded on all Samsung devices. If that is missing, what else is missing that could cause future problems?

You should also contact Samsung. They may be able to help you without doing a factory reset.

Camera can record, but can't play in gallery.

Hi everyone.
I got a Samsung Galaxy S4 and used Titanium Backup to remove all the bloatware.
I'm completely new to the Android OS and got a little too happy with all the uninstalling, and now am faced with two problems:
1) (More urgent): I am able to record videos perfectly fine with the default Camera app, but when I try and replay whatever I just recorded in the Gallery, it says "Unable to Play Video." Do any of you guys know what system app is needed to be reinstalled resolve this?
2) The default music player will not open at all. I did not freeze it/removed it, so idk why it doesn't open.
I installed Rocket Player as a substitute, but would like to know how to fix the default one.
Again, I would appreciate it if any of you guys know what system app is needed to be reinstalled to resolve this.
If anyone also knows a site that has all the system apps for the Galaxy S4, that would also be lovely.
Thank you very much for your time.

You may have removed a necesary component, and flashing back to stock will be necessary... Try clearing cache and data for the Gallery...

How would I flash back to stock?
Go to titanium backup and unfreeze "video player 1.1". Should work after that.

[Q] Samsung apps offering updates for apps that aren't installed

Hi there,
I have a question about the Samsung Galaxy S5 which I wonder if anyone else has noticed...
Basically I got a message from Samsung Apps store telling me that I have updates available for some preinstalled/built-in apps. These are:
* S Note
* Optical Reader
* S Translator
* Scrapbook
However here is the interesting part. These applications are not installed on my phone! At least they don't seem like they are. For instance, they are not under the Apps menu and they don't show under Application Manager -> All.
Moreover, if I update Scrapbook then (and only then) the app is shown under the Application Manager. What is even more interesting is that if I click on the application under Application Manager, it then gives me the option to uninstall the application, instead of the option to uninstall updates which is what I really get with built-in apps such as Gmail, S Health, etc.
So if I uninstall Scrapbook after I installed it (agian, the available option is to uninstall the entire app - ot the updates as if it was a built-in app), the app disappears from my phone (as expected), and then it shows back as an available update for a preinstalled/built-in app! How weird is that?!
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Try opening Samsung Apps, then select the option Purchased under Settings. There under Updates I can see the apps available for updates with in fact does not exist in my Android phone. I wonder if anyone else can replicate this issue?
I thought those were all installed previously, maybe I don't remember but it's not such an bad thing. They want you to try their apps to get their experience. It's understandable considering they include their own app store and some apps preinstalled.

I have the same issue. I put it down to Samsung poor wording. It's a little annoying but I can live with it.

Actually they are NOT all installed previously, and the issue is that Samsung Store keeps bugging me to update them when in fact I don't want to install them. So this is not understandable at all...
Same for me, today I disabled auto updates amd notifications in the Samsung app

Hah. in fact it just added two more apps under the "updates" tab. Samsung AllShare Cast Dongle S/W Update and NNL Fingerprint Passport.
VERY ANNOYING But I did what you suggested and disabled the auto updates.
I keep getting this happen to me too.

i wonder if it is because the apks are installed, but not activated at a system level....
i bet you the "bloat" is built into the stock ROM somehow....maybe that's why it is recognizing it as "update" rather than "install"
I find this annoying as well. My phone belongs to the company so I don't want to root it until there's a workaround for knox so I disabled or stopped a lot of Samsung apps. I'm still getting updates for them. I went on their support website and complained. I got a response. (A lame response, but at least a response.) I also complained to the Samsung app store. Complaining here is guaranteed to not make any difference. Complaining to Samsung might eventually make a difference if enough people do it.
I just disabled the Samsung store app since I could care less about Samsung's crummy store and their apps.
Same here - I went through and "updated" all of them before realising that they weren't even installed so I uninstalled them. Some of the apps were ones that were installed as standard on the S4 - so I'm guessing that they're apps that Samsung recommend you install.
Either way, it means that any *real* updates for apps that are only in the Samsung store rather than in Play won't happen now as I've disabled Samsung updates. Well done Samsung.

Gallery Problem - Android 5.0.1

I have searched the web, no one seems to have this problem?
So since the new gallery app, I think it came with Android 5. Whenever I download an image, from web or from Google drive it is blurred in the gallery, it is also blurred when I load it up full screen.
I have disabled 'Auto Enhance' I am not sure what this does but thought it could be the problem, this has made no difference. I have to edit every picture I download from my google drive, and enhance the 'deatil' option and 'sharpening' to fix each one. I don't want to be doing this as this is no doubt a drop in quality.
I also experience this problem on my Nexus 7 same android version. However my Nexus 10 does not seem to be doing the same, or if it is it is a lot less apparent. maybe just due to the higher resolution and screen size.
Any help would be appreciated....
Has no one got any ideas on this? I could post it in nexus 10 and 7 threads to, but don't really want to spam the forum.

Did you try to do wipe data and cache of this new gallery as well as the hidden folder /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails?
If that didn't work for you, you could try KitKat's gallery app or a completely different one ( see Play Store)
Happy new year, by the way
Yup, having this same problem with my Nexus 4 running Android 5.0.1
Screen captures are also blurry and pictures transferred from computer to phone are same.
Any solution would be helpful
same problem
I used to have the same problem in 5.0 . I even confirmed with quick pic and some other gallery. Ever since i updated to 5.0.1 problem seems to be resolved. Still searching for a good gallery app. The apps i for from play store are way too slow.

Since 6.0.1 Update, Instagram/SnapChat no longer save photos to device after upload

Don't know if anybody else is having this issue but ever since updating to 6.0.1, whenever I post something to Instagram or SnapChat the pic/video does not save to my 6P. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the apps. I have given the apps all the permissions. I have also disabled all apps from being able to perform a screen overlay over other apps which was a message I would get when trying to give the apps permissions to storage.
I still have the original Instagram and SnapChat folders on my 6P with photos in them before the 6.0.1 update but nothing is being saved to them ever since Don't know if there's anything else I can do or have to wait til Instagram or SnapChat release an update to fix the issue. Seems to be a few other people complaining about it from reading recent reviews of the apps.
Thought I'd check here if anyone had any solutions. Thanks

Yeah it's probably something Snapchat needs to fix. It's one of the drawbacks to being on the cutting edge. I don't know what you have tried already but you may try and booting to recovery and clearing cache. I would assume if your camera saves photos to the gallery then all is normal, besides your Snapchat.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll try that and see what happens. Yeah, no problems with pics/videos from the camera from being saved. And I actually am using an App called Instagram Photo Saver which allows me to save Instagram photos to my device which Google Photos is saving but the photos saved by the app are at a much lower resolution. But yes, SnapChat when I toogle enable storage access to SnapChat it does say "This app was designed for an older version of Android. Denying permission may cause it to no longer function as intended." Unfortunately, it's not working as intended either way.

Do you know if there is an issue using Snapchat filters on the 6P? I am getting a message that the device isn't supported.

Is nougat the king of crashes?

Seems ever since i update my s7 to nougat, and now have nougat on my s8, i'm dealing apps constantly crashing on a daily basis. Apps that never crashed before, ever, are constantly crashing on nougat. And by no means is this a samsung thing, because my friends sony z5 also has similar issues with nougat, what did google do that is causing these apps to crash?
I haven't had a single crash so far.
Not one crash either. You must have a rogue app. System reset.

No crashes at all.
Did you transfer programs, data from your old phone to new one using something like Titanium backup or smart switch? I read a lot of complains about stability issues from people doing that. Or like someone already said, some app creating issue, but not that easy to find which one.

Yes but i've reinstalled the problematic apps, same apps crashed on the s7. I mean it could be the app but they never crashed on android 6, and since nougat has been available to devs since march 2016 i'd imagine they'd fix any compatibility issues by now.
No crashes watsoever on niether my nougat s7 or s8.
I think you have limited options here: either reset the phone and reload all apps fresh from play store, or try to identify what causes the problem and there are few ways to do it. For the record my phone never crashed and I have it since day 1, but I did have couple apps that should be working, installed fine and crash the moment they start.
I had to factory reset out of the box after my first update. It sucked and was a bad first impressikn but it has been working ever since and I've had it for a week.

I used Helium on my S8 coming from S7 as Smart Switch was not importing my apps settings.
Backup went well, but I have some apps that force closes some time.
The funny thing is that I have force closes not on those apps where importing data was for me mandatory (like games or note apps), but on standard apps where I could even install them from Play Store.
I made backup of everything for simplicity, just for not having to insert all the logins and passwords for all my apps.....
I still can't understand why Smart Switch failed to import my data when I was coming from Samsung S7 with Nougat update, so if someone maybe knows why, please tell me...but as far as I've read, I haven't noticed big complain and force closes after importing with Smart Switch... Maybe they where importing from a non Nougat Samsung.....
In my actual case, resetting device would be a real problem as I have a lot of apps and reinstalling them would mean to lose an entire day in doing the job.
If someone knows how to fix things, maybe cleaning things up or so, please reply.
If there's no solution, I think I'll do only a data backup with Helium and then go through reset and consequent Play Store install of all apps list previously saved on AppBrain so to have the complete list already set...but it's still a huge work!!

2 s8's here and neither have crashed once yet. Do a factory reset, and install all your apps manually from the play store and be done with crashes.

Your crash seems to be isolated to one app. An app that I wouldn't be too surprised is crashing. The OP on the other hand post would seem to suggest he's expierencing crashes from multiple apps.
