Fossil Gen6 - tips & tricks - Other SmartWatches

This is the first smart watch that I buy from this producer.
In the past I owned the Moto 360 2015 model and I was so happy from it, apart from the battery life.
Now I decided to buy the Gen6 as I am expecting that this new chipset has a lot to offer.
I went with the brown leather option and bought it through Germany, as there was no delivery to Cyprus where I live.
I ordered it on the 1/10 and finally received it yesterday through a dropshipping company.

I just got this watch from a Black Friday sale on Amazon for under $200. I got the smoked stainless version. So far I'm pretty happy with the watch. I'm also interested to see what kind of tips there are for this watch to extend battery life.
Anyone else get this watch recently?

Beautiful but terrible battery drain ... only 15 hours ... damn ...

Yeap 15 hours seems to be the normal for this watch unfortunately.
But the fast charge is awesome, so no many other options I am afraid.

Can someone please tell me the code name of this watch/Fossil gen 6?

J'attends vos retours merci.

Italian TyTN/Hermes Users Read This!

The well known TyTN/HERMES Screen Alignement problem and the black P3600/Trinity peeling off (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=287713) revealed us the weakness of HTC service in Italy.
Many users are waiting MONTHS to have a Qtek back (not always repaired, sometimes they haven't parts), still unclear even IF and WHO has italian warranty, no on line service at all (just e-mail but in english only), no way to understand IF an HOW the updates wil be delivered to the customers.
Italian thread is here:
http://www.solopalmari.com/smf/index.php/topic,13567.0.html
We are looking for users to sign a petition to ask a roadmap to increase the quality of HTC service in Italy (to have it at the DELL or HP handheld standard, we are HANDHELD owners more than cellular phones owners and we put OUR BUSINESS on It) here:
http://www.petitiononline.com/solopalm/petition.html
International users I am not expert in other countries HTC service but if I look to the HTC website, I see no real on line services at all, not even gadgets (like HTC Xbutton).
Post sales service is a MUST for those high end (and high price) devices and the better customer is... your customer, take care of him! If you understand italian help us to establish a new standard for HTC post sales services, if they could do in Italy in many other EU countries will be easier!
Moderators, this message could be sticky for a while? We had the same privilege here: http://www.solopalmari.com/smf/index.php/board,31.0.html as help to the HERMES/TRINITY comunity
Customer respect is simply not taken into account in Italy. 50% is our fault.

I agree, I lived enought time in Europe to believe that this is a thing we HAVE to change. Just telling them it LOUD: GIVE US POST SALES SERVICE OR WE WILL STOP BUYNG YOUR DEVICES!
We have to learn to buy from companies giving us the service needed for toys were we would like to put big part of our business! (if you are a re-seller, if you are a company planning to use WM5 devices, if you are a developer, if you are a self-employed, even if you are a student or a scientist you choose tu put your business on those device!)
And INTERNET is a strong enviromnent were to explain this, you are not alone. We are telling to new customers THIS WAS MY EXPERIENCE, could be yours next time. We don't want HTC stopping his business, we would like HTC listening US!.
Hey, HTC, tell us how you solved (IF solved) TyTN SA bug, tell us if only the first release of TRINITY is a "black onion", peeling off the black coating, SWAP faulty devices (even with USED one), give us next day pick up service, 12 months swap service. WE (companies) WILL PAY FOR THIS, WE (retailers) WILL SELL THIS, WE (customers) WILL CHOSE.
Weeks (and NOT months) for service (warranty or not). Those are so-called HANDhelds because they are in HANDS and from hands to the floor the road is short! Then? No service! not from device, from HTC! This was our experience.
111 signers, also from europe and increasing. Thanks for supporting us and please, post everywere the link at the petition...

Using search in this forum (or also if you aren't familiar with english, in www.solopalmari.com forum, in italian)
THIS was the aswer to our requests from HTC EUROPE:
Is in Italian, but basically they said, "(...) we are committed to the best service since our direct presence into italian market and we are building and improving day by day our post sales support (...) Since DECEMBER (Great since OUR petition) we gave to Prima Comunicazione service to those customers having buyed their phone from Dangaard e E-Motion (ONLY THOSE? WHO KNOWS IF A PRODUCT COMES FROM DANGARD OR E-MOTION?)
You can for futher inquiry contact http://www.europe.htc.com/support/cs_by_email.html or use the call center 02-36003221, available from 08.00 to 18.00, MON-FRI"
They haven't read our requests or may be they don't know the answer... EXPANSYS Phones? E-Motion Updates? Service levels? Web support? Files, gadget, HTC club, on line community?
This seem a standard letter no thanks for chosing HTC, no real answers, they change the Provider is the same used for nokia... check nokia service in Italy
They have to learn A LOT and they would use our money to learn....

You can't really compare the backbone of Nokia and HTC. Nokia have been in the market, selling and supporting their own devices for years and years. HTC have only been supporting their own devices since July 2006. It will take time for them to refine their support system, change and edit their structure to suit customer demand.
Don't get me wrong! It sounds as though you are having a poor time of things, and I beleive that the nature of your "attack" on HTC will improve the quality of service and support for all... but I fear this will take many more months to address.

You 've got the point: Nokia is supporting and selling PHONES since years.
HTC is selling ICT, as Top HANDHELDS (targeted for business).
I paid a LOT of euro to have a tool for my business, as my PC, as my car, and I am expecting adequate services level. If I need a just a phone I never will buy HTC!
And this is the message to everybody and the lesson learned fron Italian experience: don't trust HTC if you need Windows Mobile Phones for business , at least until they grow-up from "children" to adult, (and with THEIR money and not with mine!)
HTC do u need some help? we are here!

Headset required!(for romanian users, but not only)

I'm a (unhealthy) hard user of touch2/mega as a (job) phone device (about 50-100 calls/day) and for a while I decided to use only wired headsets(for a kind of some protection[?] against radio waves bla, bla whatever..), but for some (un)known reasons I cannot use a headset for more than 1-2 months. Let me explain this:
1. first (original) headset after 1 1/2 months lost for good;
2. second an original iphone(it costs only 25 eur from orange RO, almost a toy in a bad way of speaking, I will never use one again) unusable after 2 months because of lack of reliability(microswitch dead, no way to answer to a call);
3. third a hama headset(for only 15 eur the worst like call quality) after 2 months one headspeaker dead and microswitch messing around annoyingly often;
4. fourth (again) a htc headset from tattoo (bargain price 13 eur), very good quality, unusable after 1 month because of low audible signal, distorted audio signal in/out.
So, considering I cannot use (for reasons of compatibility, I've tried so many headsets nokia, even some htc older models, & others, no success so far) any kind of stereo headset with 3.5mm jack, here is my question:
where the heck I can buy a reasonable priced wired headset (preferrable a genuine htc, no bluetooth)) compatible with my Touch2/Mega (and of course in RO)?
Thx a lot, any suggestion is welcome!

1. iphone orig.(se aud binişor,fiabilitate micã);
2. omnia2(se aud bine,par mai solide, 50 ron);
3. alte modele htc(tattoo,diamond şi probabil orice model mai nou cu jack3,5mm);
4. modele aftermarket(hama,sennheiser,etc),sunt mai scumpe,ai garanţie;
It seems best source is little(independent/unofficial) phone dealers, 'cause the big ones are too busy for this kind of sh.t.
Discovered like compatible, so far:
1. genuine iphone(good audio quality, but unreliable because of microswitch);
2. genuine samsung omnia2(good audio quality, looks solid built);
3. other genuine htc models(tatto, diamond & probably any newer models with 3.5mm jack);
4. aftermarket models(hama, sennheiser, etc) are more expensive, but under warranty.
IMO it should work from (almost) any newer models with 3.5mm jack audio output, with at least 400-500Mhz processors, like htc, sony, samsung, acer, motorola, etc.
Everything I've tried from nokia didn't work for me!
No matter where you buy it, test it right: music, controls(in call, off call, etc), 'cause you may have unpleasant surprises after buying, especially for non-authorised dealers acquisitions.
A decent price would be 10-15 eur, but for authorised dealers it may raise to 40eur.
I preffer small dealers, 'cause you can negociate and they are more receptive&flexible, as long as they have what you need.
So good luck, 'cause you'll need it!

Google Imacwear M702 its the 2Gen of this watch and there is no support I've came across yet other than the thread I started.
I understand, but what is the different between the first and second Gen. Only Android and the watch is more expensive as the first Gen.?
Why not buy from chinavision? They have v2 for 159 USD.
Does anyone have a imacwear M7 manual to share? The M7 is not accepting my sim card and I am not sure of the correct procedure. Please advise the procedure to insert the sim card. I place the metal downwards, however, the slot might be too big and needs padding.
There's a thread for the imacwear M7, you guys.

Worth to buy a LG G4 in 2019?

So like a month ago my cellphone was stolen (A Samsung Galaxy A8 which I miss deeply :'( ) and now i'm using my old phone which is a Moto G4 Play. Given that I find it quite "slow" in comparison to my A8 I'm already looking for a replacement phone. I'm considering buying a LG G4 because I came across an AliExpress seller who sells LG G4s for like 60 bucks (refubrished) and another seller from eBay sells it "new" (theorically) for $ 100. The thing is there is no phone with specs like the G4 for that kind of money (correct me if I'm wrong) but I already know all of the problems that can affect G4s so I'm not entirely convinced. So...
- If I buy one nowadays, is it probable I might get affected by bootloops ?
- How are the thermals with this phone? I read many cases of the phone overheating, is this common to every G4?
- How's development going right now? Are there any Pie roms being developed? (I'm looking specially for LineageOS 16)
Any more suggestion would be greatly appreciated. I really like this phone but If you think buying it nowadays is a bad decision, please let me know.
Thanks in advance
Naw its too old now

First thing that came up my mind... ---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-K7fCQlUhj0
It's just not worth it, many G4's have or will eventually get all kinds of problems.
You are better of with trying to save some money and buy a newer device.
The LG G4 never had good thermal performance to begin with and some G4's seem to perform worse than other at that regard.
Development is going slow since there aren't many Dev's interested in this device an many who where are long gone and moved to other devices.
At the moment there isn't any Pie ROM available to flash.
Hope this answers all your questions.
Well its a curious thing you ask.....
No.
Ebay sellers and the Ali Express are likely the same. person....
I have tried 4 of them.... and .................
Ive given up. As the phone is no longer supported. Youre stuck rooting and unlocking the bootloader.......not hard thankyou to @steadfasterX.
However you may miss some functionality..... like the radio (very important for me). I wish I could figureout the flashing of the different ROMS, as I think theres some very smart work still going on for this phone, albeit, its all experimental. None of it, will ever bring the phone back to the forefront of performance, just keep it "current", with Oreo. Im not sure how close to Pie being stable the phone is.
As for buying it from an ebay seller. I will tell you they are rebuilt, also known as a frankenphone.... Are they an 815? Who knows.
I have 1 of the 4 working, but it gets very very hot (CPUZ says 80C) when taking photos.....I had wanted a phone to take ultra long time lapse with (with an 8000mah battery), but......it shuts off after 3 hours of overheating. But itll do standy for about 3 weeks...lol. basically its an advanced alarm clock now.
I have 2 that never got into use, as they got stuck in a boot loop very early in my ownership (one, never turned on, just smoked in my hand)
1 Ive never opened.....just dont care anymore...
All of this makes me wonder how they got into market. I am still using my LGG3, as i was hoping to upgrade...but then my LG Tab III had a similar issue, hot cpu..... Ive come to the conclusion that LG shouldnt be in business with electronics... I see more vids on youtube about issues w LG phones than any other. But maybe Im just jaded.....YMMV
so the problem with this phone in general is build quality... it's a pity because spec-wise the phone is still kind of "up-to-date". I guess that's why they are so cheap in eBay and AliExpress. I mean i kind of already knew that they were rebuilt, but I was hoping they wouldn't have this bootloop issue (For what @Vishnuisgod says that might still be a problem) . Considering it's price, maybe the quality issues this phone have are the reason why they are so cheap
Voy a pasar en esta (thanks for the information you provided to identify if it was affected or not by the bootloop, but the truth is that I do not know if I want to risk buying something that has a lot of chances to fail, i might pass on this one)
PS: do you have in mind any "old" phone I could buy as new online, that is sub u$s 100 ?

so the problem with this phone in general is build quality... it's a pity because spec-wise the phone is still kind of "up-to-date". I guess that's why they are so cheap in eBay and AliExpress. elephone A6 Mini?

@Vishnuisgod Nexus 5/6 are quite old as well and, correct me if i'm wrong, but spec-wise they lag behind to what's "usable" nowadays.
@obvious never heard of that brand. The thing with these chinese phones are that development isn't always on par with more important brands, and for me, being able to update my phone past it's "age" that's a very important thing

Im still using an LGG3... it lags behind doesnt it, theres guys who swear by an LGG2.... dont get picky, up until 2 years ago I was using my Nokia 6500Classic. It did very thing I needed except gps....you know for a $200 (to $250)you can get a new phone that is a huge bargain, without all the worries about if its current. Check out some of the Nokia offerings, or Motorola (who seem to be kicking ass in the budget segment). If you cant afford $200 then you likely cant afford $100, so your point is moot....

I really like this phone but If you think buying it nowadays is a bad decision, please let me know.

its a common theme around the net, as i scroll endlessly, I see things about LG that are bad; warranty issues that are dismissed (fridges), TV's that have glitches.... Im encouraging all ppl I know to shy away from LG.
