OnePlus scales back flagship smartphone production as it announces the end of OxygenOS
OnePlus has announced that its plans to scrap OxygenOS, the OS it has used since 2015. A 'Unified and Upgraded Global Operating System' will arrive in its place, which also replaces Oppo's ColorOS. There will be no OnePlus 9T or OnePlus 9T Pro this year, either.

Maybe it's new name will be OxyColOS?

Does anyone know if it will come to the 8T?

Not sure but I like OOS. Too bad its infested with Google. I'm running LOS 18.1 without Gapps and its not much different in speed from Googled OOS.

That's a f*ck, I switched to oneplus because of OOS, probably I will go back to Xiaomi once they start upgrading to ColorOS.

Google's Project Treble for OnePlus 3(T)?

Please suggest a way to make our device get the Project Treble officially.
More details on Google Project Treble,
Thanks.
This can only be accomplished by the manufacturer of the phone (Oneplus) in corporation with the SoC manufacturer (Qualcomm). But we can always say pleeease with a big nice smile in the Oneplus forum and hope for the best. ?

As per the official OnePlus forums from I visited, I have read them saying "Treble is interesting, we will keep close an eye on it.."
Which is like killing me all the time...
Could someone from XDA OnePlus team reach out to OnePlus official and represent our request???
Project Treble would be expensive and difficult to implement. Given what OnePlus did with the OP2, it's clear where this is going.
The OP3/3T hardware will be likely be completely abandoned by next Summer. One year, folks.
Of course, Google poorly designed Android from the start and created this problem. Hardware abstraction and support for official AOSP should have been baked in from the start--or (at least) implemented before Gingerbread.
I don't use the physical buttons on this device. There's not much to wear out. This next upgrade will be forced by software. I don't give a darn about benchmarks, games, or huge pdf's; hardware isn't compelling anymore. I am going to wait and see about x86 on ARM. Even with limited performance, it would be nice to carry one device and just plug into the hotel television hdmi. Also, the updates would flow for a solid five years--longer than I would use a new device (as it should be).
There will be some broken buggy ROMS floating around for a while after next summer, but those are for kids.

Incoherent, confused, and totally off the point, what after next year there is no Android update, would that kill the phone, I still have wildfire s, it's on ginger bread, it runs youtube, Facebook and what's app, this phone will be usable till it is not broken

Is it possible for devs to port the kernel to 4.4+ once OP release sources for Oreo?
Well, given that OEM support for our device will end by mid next year, Project Treble implementation is not really worthwhile for our devices. It won't be useful to OnePlus for long (for the 3/T), and also it'll be quite expensive to be worked on.
But if OnePlus decides to pull an OPO, and grant us our wishes, we'd all be happy.
It has almost nothing to do with Oneplus, if Qualcomm update the reference msm8996 kernel to linux 4.4 then its trivial to port oneplus modifications over.
Qualcomm has practically zero motivation to do this, infact it works against their interests.

x86 or ARM? Jesus, that's some pretty old CPU architecture right there. Care to elaborate as to why you want it to go further?

OnePlus 3, 3T, 5, and 5T are all missing out on Project Treble, but will be updated to Android 8.1.
I'd rather have Treble.

And if OnePlus had release Project Treble but not Android 8.1, you would have also complained.
Stop complain about everything you don't have, and enjoy what you have: should I remind you that Android 8.0 should have been the last update for the OnePlus 3(T)? Plus, Project Treble targets all devices launched with Android 8.x, which is not the case for actual OnePlus phones.
Not only "OnePlus" doesn't give project treble,
Stop complaint about "Project Treble"
there is a petition going to support Project Treble for OnePlus devices
feel free to sign the petition and make a difference
We (the community) would like to ask Oneplus to support Project Treble in OOS

Project Treble is compulsory for devices launching with Oreo, but can be enabled when a device is updated (see OG Pixel/XL and Essential Phone), so OnePlus can do it if they want to.

Correct me if I'm wrong, just guessing here, but isn't the Google Pixel 1 getting treble? It has the same SOC, so getting the required kernel references shouldn't be a problem right?
EDIT: This is ofcourse only applicable to the 3T, so they'd have to split the OTA's from the OP3. Highly doubt that they'd do that though.

With what will Flyme 8 come? Android Oreo Treble or Android P that is almost reality?

Google's strong hand against defragmentation, manufacturers can only launch new phones with Android Oreo
Since you have to put the batteries, make Flyme for our Meizu Pro 5 or let install roms by opening the code. Flyme skip if they want Oreo (you have a few months left) and start with Android P
Hopefully someone can make a ROM for the Pro5, because if not nothing, darkness with Flyme. Change of mobile in a year or two (with 4 already well amortized) :fingers-crossed:
Google closed Nougat certification in March, all new Play Certified devices must launch with Oreo..clic here :good:
Android oreo will come to meizu in 2029 don't wait.
Go and buy another phone because Google kicked Meizu's ass i think.
Totally agree!!
Meizu Pro 5 with Flyme dies:
Flyme 5 .. Android 5.1
Flyme 6 ..
- Chinese version: January 2017 based on Marshmallow (Android 6.0)
-Global version July 2017 based on Lollipop (Android 5.1)
Flyme 7 .. based on Nougat (Android 7.1.2), are there a beta version now, I think (May 2018)
Flyme 8 .. based on Oreo, far far away
Flyme 9 .. based on P, I do not think we'll see him in this life!!
------
PD:
Nougat .. June 2016 (Meizu level now)
Oreo .. Agoust 2017
Android P .. Agoust 2018
-------
you wait seated or better don't wait!
I've been observing that Meizu decided to abandon Global market and concentrate on local Chinese market. And it is not that they are very up to date in the Chinese market. Also abandon Android rate
Chinese versions (A): Flyme 6.3.0.2A (Android 6) (2018-4-12)
It's not stable. Battery drain. Many chinese apps (they are easily deleted) and Google Play Store is a simulation. *The applications hang, the firmware is not friendly with google apps, "No suitable appstore found" in some apps. Stay on 6.1.0.0A if you can! but it's very old version based on Android 5.1. You have to returned to the old version of the firmware, becase this 6.3.0.2A can not be used.
International (global) versions (G): 6.1.0.0G (Android 5.1) but from Flyme 5.1.11.0G Google Mobile Services (GMS) was removed....
Resurrecction Remix with Android 7.1.2. very good, the best we have!! Thank you, Faust93!! Good job!!
Meizu oficial firmware (that running ok) is on Android 5.1.. It's very sad!! No?
Ahahahaha Flyme 8 on our PRO5 ?!
More probable to see the end of this world before this happens...
It is frustrating when you spend a lot of money on an Android mobile and you see that the "little time" becomes obsolete. In the next mobile that I bought I will look for a very good policy of updates both by the manufacturer and by the Xda community. Technology is like that, in two years any phone is already very old.
In our case we have three options: settle for what we have, resort to the only ROM if we do not have money or buy a new phone if we have it.
That your Android phone does not receive the latest updates both system and security yes, it is very bad. I am against all brands that do not.
The easiest thing is to buy a new one, but I'm going to try to extend the life of this phone a little longer, at the moment it's not bad with Nougat, to see if a ROM release or a new ROM with Oreo comes out. I do not expect anything new because it is old and almost nobody has it. While It's working, I'll continue with him. I also do not like the phones with Notch
I currently feel that the purchase of this mobile phone has not gone well, how I feel like changing it but I do not want to throw away the 400 euros that the Pro 5 cost in the trash.

guys, its happening, finally, you ca download flyme 6.3.0.3g from flymeos.com!
not that i'd ever buy meizu again, but wow, with this speed we can expect flyme 7
for pro5 in 2024!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah!!!!!! How does it work?
yap,flyme8 for pro5,but it is android N
Even Meizu has android N i dont understand why only 7.0 not 7.1. Many app not compatible with this android version.

Android 10

Do you guys think we will get Android 10 update?
Yup. Asus has confirmed that max pro M1 will get android Q. They made this statement during release of 9 pie.

Its not confirmed and honestly don't keep high hopes.
I remember Asus promising two major updates to ZMP M1 at launch. A Q&A session with one of their official also indicated this. BUT "major system update" cannot be conclusively termed as Android P & Q if we go by the track record of companies. In fact, we have seen brands go back on their solemn promise (Moto ?) only to face backlash and then provide a delayed update.
Long story short - we have a good probability of getting Q but don't bet your life on it - not yet !
yes definitely we will get Android 10 on Pro M1 but in 2020 when google is about to launch android 11....remember android pie released officially by google and asus gave that after almost 10 months passed....with beta program and still too many bugs....we all know that asus camera result is so poor....IT IS STRICTLY NECESSARY ASUS SHOULD COMPLETELY CHANGE THEIR SOFTWARE ENGINEER TEAM OTHERWISE IT WILL LOSE MOBILE BUSINESS...
What about custom Rom development of Android 10, it has been officially launched today.
Here I have found an easy way! Unlock Bootloader Asus ROG Phone 2
If we get android 10 (no hopes though) camera2api will be enabled by default as Google made it compulsory in aosp. Possible?

Help with Lineage MicroG phone recommendation?

Long story short, I went and bought a OP7T, thinking it's bootloader unlock capability would land me my choice of ROM.
I wanted to install Lineage and it's the only model that is not supported on the 7 family and it has problems with TWRP.
I need a phone that is well supported and can run Lineage microG. From my reading something like the Xiaomi F1 is well supported, tons of ROMS but a bit old. the X3 is not on the Lineage list I think.
My goal is a simple, plain google less phone, with decent camera. I'd go for the Asus ROG 3, but again don't need the gaming. just a plain googleless phone, under 2 years old. Android 10 is ok. don't want anything less.
Thanks!
I'm in the same boat as you and have done a fair amount of research. I'm likely going to buy a recent OnePlus or a Pixel phone, but waiting until these devices are officially supported (or well supported unofficially).
There is a list of devices that are currently supported by Lineage with microG
Linext - a list of LineageOS devices
anton-z-s.github.io
But a ROM with signature spoofing may work with microG

The Pixel 4a with 5G is likely to be supported by Lineage within a few months, that phone seems like a good value and so could work for you.

I can confirm you that the Xiaomi Poco F1 is working extremely well with Lineage OS 18.1 (our maintainer is very active and has done a ton of work on the device).
The phone is so fast and so smooth, I never feel like getting any newer phone.
Also, Gcam ports are working near perfection on the device, and people cannot believe the quality of the shots taken with the F1 (easily compares with recent iPhones for example and can produce great pictures even in bad situations).

OP 7T Pro McLaren HD1913 it is neglected (?!)

Why is this model (it is neglected) still has very late security, patches for Android? At the moment there are fixes for March 2021 (?!). This is tragic !!!
On Android 11, the company OnePlus Ambient On Display does not work. It's been a long time and no one is interested.
I remember, in the beginning he had regular corrections and now it's one big nightmare.
Many OP 7t McLaren users have the same problems.
I have a second OP 6T phone. He has regular patches. From May 21st it has corrections for May !!!
You are in the wrong forum. This forum is specifically for the T-Mobile 5G variant (HD1925) which is very different from the non-5G version.
Your HD1913 Mclaren is identical to the regular OP7T Pro except for looks (and possibly the amount of ram and memory). And unlike us, you can download the latest releases directly from OnePlus. I'd highly recommend downloading the latest Open Beta release for Global 7T Pro phones. Visit the 7T Pro subforum for more details. I'm pretty sure it includes the always on ambient display. By far, the easiest way for you to update is to use the Oxygen Updater app in the Play Store. For your device, choose either OnePlus 7T Pro, OnePlus 7T Pro (EU), or OnePlus 7T Pro (India) depending on what region you are living in (choose the first one if you aren't in the EU or India). Again, see regular OnePlus 7T Pro subforum for all the info you need.
I have been using Oxygen Updater regularly for over 4 years. Ambient On Display does not work with Beta 4. With the stable version of OTA: Oxygen 14.E.26_GLO_0260_2104142022 also AOD does not work.
