Nitendo Switch from Tencent, Recrafting it into International Version - Nintendo Switch Questions & Answers

Hi all, I'm quite new to this community, and seems I decided to ask some questions.
Can we craft a Nintendo Switch Global Ver with the parts from Tencent Nitendo Switch? For example, just replaced the hardware parts that related to region-locking with parts from Global Region parts. Because as I per read few threads from here, to flashing the ROM to global firmware on Tencent Nintendo, it will not work for some reason on Tencent Nintendo.
I'm planning to make a cheaper Switch since I saw some guy from Imgur able to crafting Switch from scratch for only $200, but now the parts as I researched are not cheap anymore.
Any suggestion is welcomed

HTC Topaz (Touch Diamond 2) - real or fake?

Hi. I'm from Moscow, Russia and I've got a problem with my future (i hope) HTC Topaz.
After analyzing our(Russian) market I've came to a conclusion that there are at least 2 types of this device:
1. From Taiwan, certified, with guarantee, with Russian windows mobile - i.e. official one - 497.2$
2. From China, NOT certified, there are NO guarantee, English windows, the only document which comes with this device is a cash-memo and user manual - that's all (as salesman told me). price - 396$
100$ difference is a big money in my case. English Windows is not a problem, 'cause there are lots of info on howto change firmware. as for the guarantee - all the stuff i bought earlier (notebooks, cameras) are working just fine, I've never been at the service center before - so i hope i won't need one in future.
The question is: how to determine that the device I'm going to buy (before actually buying it; I'll have nearly 10-20 min) is a real one and not a fake like e.g. "HTS tauch brilliant2" or "Pear iFone 5g", that inside it's absolutely identical to the certified one, that the hardware is the same and I'll be able to change firmware. One of the problems is i won't be able to insert Sim and make a call, test WiFi and etc, 'cause the phone is probably locked. Is there any way, any program that allows to display a list of hardware inside this PDA on its screen or on the screen of notebook. Or maybe there is a list of serial numbers somewhere and i can compare them to the one i'll see under the battery? Maybe someone has bought it for extremely low price and really satisfied with it?
Any ideas and opinions are appreciated!
Thnx!
Best regards, Rudbur.
$396 is fake diamond 2 - it is easy to figure out - just turn it on and you'll see for yourself. real greyimport diamond 2 costs now $500, but it will has no manufacturer warranty anyway, don't get yourself tricked... if you want warranty - buy legally imported PCT device.
Oh, fellow countryman! Thanks for the answer!
You probably know (price.ru) what stores i mean. So, let's assume this: I'm ordering two different HTCs: one for 400$ and one for 500$. I turn them on (simultaneously), and what should i expect when testing the fake one?
If there's no difference at all - same buttons, same size, same menu and etc (except language: russian and english), should i buy cheapest?
oh, and i heard or read somewhere that china shops offer real topaz for 333$. Or am i wrong?
The Chinese "copies" aren't actually the same at all.
The names are similar/identical, and they try to mimmick the physical appearance of a genuine device, but the software and internals are all different. Usually there a obvious differences like a lower resolution camera, room for dual SIM cards etc.
I've never seen one myself, but I would imagine once you switch it on you'll get default Windows Mobile with no HTC add-ons. I doubt they have gone to the trouble of faking an entire HTC ROM as well - but I might be wrong.
Hi,
I can testify here, as I have been living in China for a while, and buying phones from the grey market for a while too.
a few things to know:
Real fake chinese stuff will not even have HTC written on it. MTC or something like that. The plastic looks cheap, and it wouldn't even have winmo on it. I saw a "Nolia N95" the other day with the Sony Ericsson interface on it!
Then, in china, you got an official one for real cheap, but the brand is Dopodo, and they don't have wifi built-in. It's the real stuff, but for chinese market only.
At last, the grey market stuff, like mine which I paid the equivalent of 400USD has, I believe "fallen from the truck" in HK... So it got the HK Rom in it, ot Taiwanese, not so certain, as it was in CHS, and they use CHT in those regions.
So, briefly, chinese fake will be very, very easy to spot Hope that helps!
Thanks to you all, guys. I hope the shop I'm going to buy from will allow me to test these devices and save few bucks. I emailed them earlier, asking about guarantee, prices and so on, but they haven't answered yet.
kipue, your opinion is especially important, because you lived there, you know what's what. So I'll draw attention to the labels on it, camera, functioning of wifi, windows mobile menus and all.
After actually buying it I'll post a reply here.
Best regards, Rudbur.

Is there any quality difference fi you buy form a chinesse retailer?

I'm currently interested in buying a oneplus two and the official site says that they don't deliver to my country, so i'm thinking of buying one from a chinesse retailer like gearbest.
A friend told me that if you buy form a chinesse retailer they may not be the same quality as if you would buy it from the official site, any thoughts on this?
he also said that they come whit more bloatware and there's a higher chance of getting one with overheating problems. I'm thinking they might have different hardware revisions.
Nope. I'm from germany and bought the Oneplus2 (A20003) from Geekbuying. It took some time to ship it because it were very asked but it is actually working good and seems to be a good one.
No quality problems!
I think if you buy from chinese retailer it may be running Hydrogen OS instead of Oxygen OS
I am use the oneplus two in china
I am using the oneplus two in china.just now, it is fine, and I love it .and I think the hardware revisionsis the same with the phone outbound

Differences in the Model Numbers?

Hello,
I was looking to get one of these phones but because Amazon UK has ran out of Axon 7s I had to look else where. While I was looking I found Aliexpress, I have brought things off there before while looking for cheap keyboards so this is not my first time.
At first I thought there was just 2 types, the EU/US type which has the same ish hardware while the chinese one is different because it china only.
But after a few hours I have found that all 3 different model numbers have different LTE bands. This was not a problem as my network (UK EE), supported the bands.
BUT THEN... I found that some versions of the phones has on scree buttons while the other ones have capacitive buttons.
Can someone please just clear this up for me.
Which phone and which model number belongs to which region and what are the pros and cons of each of these?
Also, anyone found a way to install the US rom on the EU phone or the EU rom on the China phone? or any other combonation of these? I might want to install a custom rom in the future or get rid of the volume thing on the EU model.
There are 3 variants A2017 - China A2017G -Europe/Global and A2017U for the United States. I'm no expert but from what I've found in my research before buying the device is that essentially on a hardware level all 3 are almost similar. The China version i suppose has capacitive + onscreen . The EU version of the phone is of slight variance from the China version. US version has CDMA support.
The main differences are on a software level with ROMs that are different for each region. The most preferable is the US version with much better support from ZTE considering they are trying to pamper that market. I would suppose based on how things currently look, EU will be behind the pack till we get a bootloader unlock and that will usher in custom ROM dvelopment.
Note that the official ROMs cannot be interchanged among models mainly due to modems being different. Maybe once custom ROM's are made they might be, not the official ZTE ones. If you are in the UK, i'd recommend buying the version meant for UK/EU and don't get yourself into the hassle of a model meant for China unless you looking for the 6GB RAM/128GB version and know your way around rooting/flashing et al. Another factor you would want to consider is warranty. Aliexpress phones can be considered having none. I read somewhere that you get 3 years for the UK/EU one so why not wait for that
Hopefully someone corroborates or corrects whatever i stated above, whichever is necessary . I hope this helps!

UK is meant to drop in Q4(like now...), I'll give it a few more weeks before buying one.
Also, does anyone here who is a dev know if 6gb/4gb and 64/128gb will change rom compatibility?

Can you please tell me the differences and what do u recommend to me ??

Chinese version has on screen navigation bar (no capacitive buttons) which might be better for some, but the big bezel where the capacitive buttons are located is still there, just without the buttons. I think it has a more stock Android launcher (A2017G has one too, on update B02). I've heard that some parts of the system (maybe bootloader?) are in Chinese, would be better if someone confirmed though. No idea about the LTE bands it supports.
Has no warranty. You probably won't use any warranty though if you aren't able to get to the country where they sent you the device from, but it's REALLY handy if you wasted the screen or have a camera problem, like the OIS buzzing.
It has a Theme engine but it's a little weird and it seems not to change what's important (can't put the OS to black).
On the other hand the G has full MiFavor which 99% of people here in XDA hate. Launcher without drawer, like Apple. The icons are all square rounded in the corners. Capacitive buttons below the screen. maybe a little too close to each other, and without any backlight, but you get used to them by muscle memory or whatever. A couple of years of Passport 2.0 warranty + a year of ZTE VIP warranty that covers one screen replacement and a couple of other things.
Be careful though, it explicitly says that it doesn't cover acts of God! lol
AFAIK Chinese version does have capacitive buttons. 6gb version has force touch exclusive.

Chinese won't be good for you. Most likely you should choose G model. Some sources say that U model also has B20 others don't mention it.
Spec for G and Chinese can found here:
http://www.ztedevice.com/product/smart-phone/AXON-7
Thats fake that chinese version don't have buttons, maybe first copies don't had them, but I bought mine A2017 64GB on March '17 and I got normal buttons under screen.

Oneplus 6T (CN with Global Rom) - First time buyer in U.K. needing help

Hi guys, so my little brother is wanting the one plus phone. I noticed from AliExpress etc , the oneplus 6T is significantly cheaper as it’s from China. He can only afford this as in the U.K. it’s 100+ more in cost.
It states it’s running global firmware oxygen. I’m asking the seller what LTE bands this runs on to ensure it works with the EE network here in England.
I just wanted to see if anyone here had experiences with buying from China? Let me know if it’s worth it

It should work properly.
Just to be safe, run the phone through MSM Tool to get rid of any Chinese SW.
If the seller has good feedback from foreign buyers you should be ok. The 1st thing I would do though is unlock the bootloader, install twrp, and flash the latest version of OOS, regardless of what rom they say it has. This should eliminate any issues with shady or corrupt or spyware software.
Option 2 find a used 6t locally, that is what I did.
As stated above I would run this through the msm tool to restore the phone to 100% stock international software. Unless you understand root and have a need for it I would leave the device that way as well.
