Automatically upload photos to Google Photos from OneDrive on your original Google Pixel XL (unlimited original quality photo uploads!) - Google Pixel XL Guides, News, & Discussion

The original Google Pixel XL was sold with a unique perk, it has unlimited original-quality photo and video uploads to Google Photos for the lifetime of the device.
I recently upgraded from my Pixel XL to a OnePlus 9 Pro. If I wanted to keep uploading for free, I somehow would have to transfer photos from my OnePlus 9 Pro to my Pixel XL. I'm also a bit upset that Google Photos now has ads in it (Google is advertising Google One plans inside Google Photos) so I want to disable Google Photos on my OnePlus 9 Pro because ads make me gag.
The solution I've found? Microsoft OneDrive. Here is what I did.
Disabled Google Photos on my OnePlus 9 Pro
Enabled "Camera upload" in Microsoft OneDrive settings on my OnePlus 9 Pro
Installed Google Photos and OneDrive on my Google Pixel XL
Enabled photo backup on Google Photos on the Pixel XL.
On my Pixel XL, avigated to the folder in OneDrive that contains my photo uploads and selected "Make available offline"
That's it. Now whenever I take a photo on my OnePlus 9 Pro it is uploaded to the Camera Roll folder on OneDrive. Then, my Pixel XL automatically downloads the photo and uploads it to Google Photos. You can even do this with screenshots and other saved images if you set OneDrive to back them up!
Overall, I'm super happy to have discovered this functionality. I did used to like Google Photos but now that there are ads in it, this is a cool way to bypass them and still use the service! The unlimited original quality photo uploads are just a bonus!
Edit: At least one person has had trouble with this method, but I can confirm this works on both stock software and LineageOS.

Cool, I did a similar thing with my OnePlus 7Pro and SyncThing.
The cool thing is, when I free up space on the Pixel in the photos app, it deletes the photos on device, but since the folders are synced, it also deletes the files on my 7 Pro. So I don't have to worry about manually doing anything.

Seems like the "make available offline" function on OneDrive requires premium subscription. Can anyone else confirm this issue?

[Q] Auto Backup photos missing EXIF data

Hi, all -- I seem to have stumbled on a weird Google+ bug that's specific to my Google Play Edition Galaxy S4. My Auto Backup photos on Google+ are missing the "Date taken" and other EXIF data (Focal Length, Exposure, F Number, and ISO). This bug seems to be associated with the GPE GS4: it happens on two different Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 phones I've tried, but it _doesn't_ happen on a Nexus 4. (All devices were running stock Android 4.3 and the latest Google+ app.) Does Auto Backup work properly for other Galaxy S4 users? (I don't know if this issue is specific to the Google Play Edition software or not.) The problem started between July 28 and July 31: until July 28, all of my Auto Backup photos are fine; starting on July 31, they all have empty "date taken" and other fields.
(And the same photos uploaded via other means are fine. It's _only_ when they're uploaded by the Google+ app's Auto Backup function that they lose their EXIF data.)
Does anyone have any ideas about what might cause this and how it could be fixed? I'm attaching "before" and "after" shots showing info on Google+ of photos taken before and after the problem started.
OK -- Google seems to have magically fixed this bug. All of the Auto Backup photos that were showing up with missing EXIF data in Google+ now have that information restored (without my having done anything). Thanks, Google

Google + business page photo problem

I have a Google business page for my company and I have a problem with uploading photos to it.
Ive checked all my settings camera and in app settings and when I upload a picture from my note 4 either from my phone or from the net it uploads in a lower resolution and looks pixilated.
Is there any other users on here that runs a business page that can check if the same happens to them?
Here is a link to my page.

[UPDATED] New Google Pixel 2 Exclusive Wallpapers and Guide how activate them

UPDATED OFFICIAL PIXEL 2 WALLPAPERS ANIMATED
Today Google add 3 new categories exclusive for Pixel phones and the new Rainy Day from Pixel 2.
A lot of roms have the wallpapers active beacause is include in the official Gapps. But some do not have it because a small file is needed. This file is called "nexus.xml"
This little file not only activates these wallpapers, but also activates the unlimited space in Google Photos and more applications in Google Play.
how to activate? Its Simple
1-Need the Official Google Wallpapers from Google Play
2- You need root
3-Download the "nexus.xml" file from here LINK
4-Copy this file to /system/etc/sysconfig
5-Change the permissions to rw-r--r--
6- Restart the phone and READY!
P.D: if you need to disable the option of unlimited space in google photos. You need to delete this lines in the "nexus.xml"
<feature name="com.google.android.apps.photos.NEXUS_PRELOAD" />
<feature name="com.google.android.apps.photos.nexus_preload" />
If the wallpapers do not appear, try to change with the application "Build Prop Editor" the following lines.
1>>'ro.product.model=Redmi note 3' to 'ro.product.model=Pixel 2 XL'
2>>"ro.product.brand=Xiaomi ' to 'ro.product.brand=Google"
3>>"ro.product.manufacturer=Xiaomi" to "ro.product.manufacturer=Google"
4>> then add 'ro.opa.eligible_device=true' at the end

Backdrop settings not offering some sources

I hope that some of the brilliant minds on here may be able to help me with this:
I have the Nvidia Shield Pro 2017 version and it is updated to the latest software.
I also have the Pixel 2 XL running the most current update. (Though this issue has been presenting itself regardless of what my software version has been)
When I go into backdrop settings in the Google home app to try to set the backdrop for my Shield TV I am given the option for Google Arts and Culture, Featured Photos, Earth and Space, Custom Speed, and Weather (as well as a toggle switch for Curated News)
Everything I have read everywhere has said that Google Photos and Play Newsstand should also be options, but they are not present.
Am I doing something wrong? I desperately want to get my Play Newsstand to show up in Backdrop. This Curated News mess is not cutting it. (If I have to look at a grilled steak or a plate of quinoa one more time because Curated News thinks I care about that, I'm gonna throw something! LOL)
Am I incorrect In believing that Play Newsstand and Google Photos are supposed to be available sources for Backdrop? Do I need to do something special to activate those options?
All of my devices are signed into the same Google account, so I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Help please!

Migrate Pixel 3 to Pixel 4 w/o source device - Backup?

Hello everybody, I have sold my pixel 3, but I will get my pixel 4 at the end of the week. How can I migrate my apps + settings as completely as possible? Does the Google-Drive-Backup do anything for me? 3rd party apps? Pixel 3 is not unlocked and not rooted, Pixel 4 will not be either.
Thanks!

You could try something like Swift Backup, I use it quite often and seems to work well
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.swiftapps.swiftbackup
It should be same thing as a factory reset.
You will have to select the last backup made by you, and that backup will contains list of app to be installed, wifi networks, sms, wallpaper, some app settings (like Pixel launcher, with your icon locations), etc.
As for the "files" I recommend to copy them to a PC, clean what you don't need, and then copy back to the Pixel 4.

If you can hold off on sending the P3 to the buyer that would be your best option. You connect the two devices and almost everything, including text, pics etc. are copied to the new device. If you can't do that then Google backup is kind of ok. You'll get a bunch of stuff but not text messages and a few other settings. There you can use sms backup or some other program. Good suggestion copying stuff you want to your computer too just in case. Logins and passwords are not copied over in either case, you'll need to set those up again or use autofill. I also sold my P3 but had transferred everything over to my 3a for DSDS. I'll have the P4 next week and will then sell the 3a or keep it as a backup device depending on what I can get for it. Good luck, I think you made a good decision but we'll find out soon enough.
