Alexa Echo built-in on random Android device - Amazon Echo

Hello guys,
I am getting Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab, which has native Google Assistant build-in, my home is now running on Amazon Echo Show / dots, so I would like to implement somehow Alexa Echo build-in in to that tablet. It is possible? Or only possible way is only thru Amazon Alexa app?
Thanks for reply and I am sorry if I did some language mistakes, english it's not my native language.

Well, of course it's possible but I'm not sure if it's been done before. But you could theoretically copy the software from an Echo Show to your device. You would need to get all the correct drivers for your tablet for it to work. A more practical approach would be to somehow run a newer version of Fire OS on your tablet. Newer versions of Fire OS have what's called Show Mode which basically lets you use the tablet as an Echo Show. I don't know what the process would be but now you should have an idea of what to look for.

Change Display Density in Android TV / Sky Go (GER) on Android TV

Hi you all,
this is probably not the right forum for this request (I don't have a Shield TV, but a Sony 4K TV with built in Android TV).
But I didn't find a better suitable Forum than this one.
I'm new here and generally relatively new with Android. I only got two Android devices at home:
- an Amazon Fire TV in my office and
- a Sony KD 55x8505c 4K Android TV in the living room.
My Smartphones and Tablets all run on iOS - but I realize more and more that it might be helpful to get a small Android Tablet in the near future to benefit from all possibilities Android offers.
Now to my problem:
I wanna use the German Sky Go App on my Android TV. The current version 1.4.3 is installed an it works. However, it's far from perfect because the menus are out of alignments, you can't see episode numbers and if you click anywhere else than the PLAY button, the app crashes.
I had exactly the same issue on the Amazon Fire TV - but there I found a solution. You simply needed to change the display density by typing "am display-density 280" before starting the app and it works perfect. You can automate that by using the app Tasker. So on Fire TV in the office - everything's perfect.
Now I wanted to achieve the same on my Android TV - and therefore I need your help. The command "am display-density 280" doesn't work an the Android TV. I tried entering it directly through a Shell / Terminal. When I started the Tasker App I couldn't get past the Disclaimer. There was no Accept button to be found. In a different forum I found a possible way for tasker by extracting an already activated tasker version from a different Android Device and installing this version on the Android TV. However, I only got the Fire TV as a different device and I have no idea how to extract the app from the Fire TV including the necessary data. But without knowing the right command to actually change the display-density, Tasker wouldn't help me anyway.
So the most important thing is to find a way to change the display-density to 280 first. Afterwards I need to find a way to automate that when the App is launched. Can you please help me?

Hi,
I'm trying to do the same as you. I also read the Fire TV thread and tried Tasker on my Shield TV, which didn't work.
So i guess i'll set up tasker on my phone to change density to 280 when starting SkyGo and back to standard when leaving the app.
Then i have to backup the app+data - either with Helium (no root) or if that fails (which is likely) with Titanium (root, my Shield TV isn't rooted... yet ).
If i succeed, i could share the Tasker backup with you, if you're interested. I'm busy this week, but i might give it a try next week / weekend.
so here´s what i did:
i changed the display density with the adb command "adb shell wm density 280 %% adb reboot"
i could watch a trailer in sky go, but no luck with live streams or movies. so for now no solution from my side
Thank you!
I finally did it!
I installed Android Studio on my Mac including all SDKs. Then I turned Developer Mode on on my Android TV and connected through adb. With your command I was able to switch the display density to 280 and now finally Sky Go looks and works as it should.
However - now the whole Android TV OS is in density 280. I already noticed that the screen keyboard looks a bit odd.
Now the only thing I miss is the possibility to switch the density only for the Sky Go App. On Fire TV I can do that with Tasker, but on Android TV Tasked doesn't work. If anybody could help me with that...?
Thanks again and

Amazon Fire HD 10 (2017) - How can I add new language packs for Google apps?

Hi,
I posted same message in Q&A but I didn't received any answer until now.....thinking that maybe that thread is not so much read, I kindly ask you to allow me to post the question again, as a new thread, and apologize me for double posting.
"I have bought an Amazon Fire HD 10 (2017 edition) in order to have a tablet with a bigger screen (it was best option price/quality related).
I don't like Amazon OS, so I have used Toolbox 6.1 to make more Android friendly and it works fine (apps/widgets etc).
The only draw back is that Google is stuck on English language (or any other languages provided by Amazon according selection in My account).
For this reason, all my google apps are in english language (but this is not an issue) and all my google news from news feed are displayed in English and are from US (or any other Amazon language/country selected in Amazon account) -> this is my real issue.
Therefore my question is:
Is there any option to install other Google language packs on Amazon Fire HD 10 (I need Romanian), so that all displayed news are from my country and in my language?
What I have tried:
- I selected in Google apps Romanian language and Country: Romania -> no luck...everything is displayed in english and from US.
- I tried to install new language packs from Google Play using Languages - Change Language & Language Settings -> I have tried both automatic and manual options (adb related); on automatic it shows that the installation is successful, but it isn't, while on manual it give error as it is not successful.
Many thanks in advance "

Simply stop using Google News.
I am German, live in eastern Europe and speak English. In Google News I only get news about Indonesia and Malaysia
It's one of the worst apps by Google I have ever used. Just install a local news app and be happy
It is not about Google News.. It is about the fact that Google considers the language and country of Amazon account when displaying the news....if there is any way to break the link between Google app and Amazon account and to make it only Google related, then it should work.
But idk if it is possible.

Your solution works only temporary...meaning that if you restart the tablet, it is stuck on Fire boot screen...only solution to open it again it is to wipe and revert to factory settings on recovery mode (
If you have a solution to this...please let me know
Thanks
A lot of the heavy handed de-bloating suggestions (including Fire Toolbox which I have tested & no longer use) break two things - location services, and the ability to switch the tablet's operating language. My solution was to go a little easy on the de-bloating, so that I could switch the tablet language in settings, just like any real Android device. If you freeze or delete com.amazon.kindle.otter.oobe, then you will never be able to change the tablet language. Unfortunately, not freezing it leaves the Fire Setup and Goodreads in the app drawer, so I use the paid version of Nova Prime to hide those items using it's ability to hide apps in the app drawer without having to freeze or delete them. In the "Prime" (paid) version, go to: Nova settings – App Drawer – Hide Apps (it’s near the bottom of the list). Tap to turn on the check box beside “Connect to Goodreads” & “Device Setup”. I also do not freeze, but hide Amazon Photos so I can have my own choice for lock screen image and wallpapers.
This does what I think you are talking about very nicely here in South America for the Spanish language. Once the Fire tablet is switched to Spanish (& geolocation is working) all the Google apps follow along nicely & give local results. My apologies if this is not what you are asking.
If you would like to see what I do and don't disable, I have attached well commented the batch script I run to set up Fire HD 10 tablets so they look & run like stock Android. Notepad++ shows comments (REM) in green, so use that to make it easier to read. The batch file is designed to be run from ADB on a Windows computer against a FRESH Fire HD 10 that is bootloader unlocked, rooted, and using LegitSU's FireOS 5.6.4.0

I'm not trying to change your mind, but I did want to say that before k4y0z created his excellent bootloader unlocking solution in March 2019, I did try a lot of other stuff (I had the tab for about a year before that), and I was never satisfied with the tablet, mainly because something was always broken / breaking (in a software sense). But since I did this mod, I consider it the best $100 I've ever spent on a technology device. I wish you the best of luck in your search for your best solution, obviously we all have different needs & desires, and it was not my intention to suggest that my way is the best or only way.
My Fire HD 10 2017 is mostly not used for above mentioned reason.
It is a long time since my post.
Anyone found out a way to install additional language packs ?
Thank You in advance

I recently let my mother in law use a Fire Tablet whilst visiting us, and to my surprise, it seems that Amazon doesn't cater for languages in countries they do not have a foothold, thus Romania is not on their list, neither are most of the other Eastern European countries, which suck. If anyone have found a way in doing so, please let us know, would be interesting to find out how. Some of the apps installed can have language selected, such as the google keyboard, facebook, opera etc, but some don't.

Alexa Echo Show 5, is it possible to open a webcam link by voice?

Hi to all,
is it possible to open on the screen of our Alexa Echo Show 5, a webcam link from outside, webcam world just like:
www.skylinewebcams.com
using my voice, just like: ALEXA PLEASE OPEN BEACH VIDEO.... or something like that
I can do now by Firefox on Alexa but is it a way to do directly by voice?
Thanks
It looks like they added support for opening URLs from skills. You would have to make your own custom Alexa skill, but it seems possible now. I saw this info here:

I opened the site webcams-hd.live

Amazon Appstore FireOS only apps - any work arounds?

My son has a Fire HD 8 tablet that thanks to you all, I have installed LineageOS 7.1.2 on. It runs great now, but we'd like to install an application that is only available in the Amazon App store and designed to run only on stock FireOS. I think the app would run perfectly fine on the tablet with Lineage installed, but unfortunately the Amazon App store no longer recognizes the tablet as a Fire tablet and therefore blocks our ability to download the app.
Is there some sort of workaround that could be tried here? I've read about people modifying build.prop to spoof the device type and run "unsupported" apps, so perhaps that is the route we'd take here? I'm just sort of stumped here and really don't want to go buy another fire tablet just so we can run stock fire os for his game.
The apps in question are the Osmo kids learning series. Any help would be very much appreciated.
*edit - i have searched for .apks of the app online that would allow me to manually install, but i have been unable to turn any up.

Get Amazon Appstore for Android on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get/amazonapp

Just bought HD10 11th (2021) 7.3.2.1. How to block updates and what to do?

Hello
Bought HD 2021, no ads version
In short:
1. Need to block the updates. How do I go about it? I have a router, so blocking the traffic to Amazon maybe?
2. I'd love to completely disconnect the tablet from Amazon. I wish to gain maximum intrussion on my privacy, so I'd love to get rid of Alexa etc. But if there's something which improves the chances of increasing compability with older apps installed from a pre-downloaded files, not from Google Play etc. I'd like that too. Basically "what would you do in the first place". Aside from the looks. I don't really care how my icons arrangement looks like or if I can get somewhere in 2 clicks instead of 3. Not sure if the launcher swap is for me then.
After spending some time googling, I found that there's no way to install LineageOS on this one. And people talk about bad 7.3.2.2 update. (I have 7.3.2.1)
So, please help a noob with some simple step-by-step advise on what should I do (no need to tell me the actual steps of each procedure, I can google, but keep in mind I'm a total noob to Android and PC-Android apps, so please don't use shortcuts which prelong my future googling by 1000x, thanks )
I just powered it on, checked the firmware version, and didn't connect the internet to it yet.
OK, so I needlessly worried after finding a 5 method list of removing the auto updates and comments about none working, and thought Toolbox is mainly for changing launchers.
To answer most of my questions:
- Toobox allows to disable the updates, has ALL the options nicely explained and you can just read through all the menu items to learn what to do and what's what. It allows to remove the spying Amazon crap (Alexa), allows to sideload apps without using any stores (not even google account required, I guess ), restores Google Play access and gives direct access to the filesysem for easy file transfer. Among other.
Awesome thing. I didn't finish using the Toolbox yet, but seems like I'll be able to use the tablet now.
I have a new question though. If my OS version is from 2021, and I don't want the new updates, what about security vulnerabilities? Am I now an easy target?
edit: Still have Alexa
Amazon Alexa is one service
and
Alexa - is the name of second service
Also, how do I disable the Google Assistant after replacing Alexa with it?
Lastly. I have only 1.3GB of 3GB RAM free? Or is this under developer settings in Android settings menu, not properly displayed?
Welcome here! I hope you'll take this discussion over to the Toolbox thread to benefit more readers:
