Is it possible to get access to Network roms like Three UK? - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

I'm after the Three UK firmware because I'm told by Three only their Oneplus 8 Pros have access to all bands on its network including the one that allows VOLTE

I'm with 3 myself..
It's just an EU phone..
IN2023 BA
Mine does indeed allow volte but I don't think its alone there and it doesn't have all the other bands which 5G devices can utilise..
The firmware is just the EU one though mate

I've put the EU firmware on and no option for Volte so flashed it again to the UK firmware and still no Volte option so it must be something in the Three UK firmware that allows the band (800 MH)
On my old Oneplus 7 Pro the Volte icon shown all the time

There is no three specific firmware mate, it's just the EU firmware. Three phones are unlocked.
Wish there was something I could tell you but there's not..
There is no volte option on my phone either, not on 11 anyway. Was on 10.
The person you spoke to from three is blowing smoke up your bum.

If you know a way to test what bands are in use I'll be more than happy to test

Three are telling people this on the Oneplus forum, you said you've got no Volte feature but have it so do you see a Volte icon telling you its on?
I've tried a few Volte apps from the play store which confirm it isn't on mine, have you tried checking to see if you really have it

So if you turn off wifi then place a call you cant surf the net ? Does it drop to 3g ? I have the volte icon on my in2025 but the apps also show that it's off. Which is a lie / inaccurate.
Edit .nevermind, OP has in2020 which he mentioned in another thread.

Yes with EU/UK Firmware and the same chipset this should be the same 3,4 & 5G on offer in theory

Yes I'm able to surf whilst in a call on 4G/5G
I'm just testing using that app now.

App doesnt say it's active no.
This is the readout from
*#*#4636#*#*
Says volte is provisioned but greyed out. So I think it is on but unable to turn it off.
Like I said it was on and had a visual status bar icon but doesnt on 11
Slightly dubious app though is it functional on 11?

How about if you're just on 4G? Turn off 5G. When I'm on a call using 4G LTE and surf web it stays on LTE and doesn't drop.down to say 4G or in the uk it'll probably be 2G or 3G if I was originally on 4G.

Comical. Mines the other way around. Shows volte in status bar for both sims but that menu shows volte off. However disabling one sim then shows those options volte enabled via that menu posted. Rather confusing so to speak. However in practice volte is working.
Edit worked it out. For me, if I select voice call as "ask .." then those sliders in the 4636 menu are off.

VoLTE settings & low brightness

Hi Fellas, i got a U Ultra but it doesnt show any setting to enable VoLTE. While as per the specs it supports both VoLTE & VoWifi. Exact model on the box is HTC U Ultra U-1u. Also brightness seems to be dim..
Any idea for both?

the U Ultra does support LTE, but, as with the case with many Android phones, the setting to enable VoLTE is dependent on the carrier and the software version you have.
Example, My U-1u is from taiwan. When I was in taiwan a few weeks ago, I had VoLTE on the local carrier. I live in Australia, where my carrier also sells the Ultra (U-1h) and supports VoLTE on it. but my phone does not give me the option.
I will be looking to modify the software to enable down the track. You may need to do the same in order to enable.
Android OEMs should look to deploy carrier settings such as this independently of software version

TMobile

Curious.... What are people going to do if they get the phone on TMobile and it has no volte? Essential won't tell us so who knows
I thought this was already stated that it would work with all carriers including Tmobile
Yes but that doesn't mean it will support volte, HD or evs
I’m pretty sure it was asked directly if the phone would work with those features and they said if the service supports it then it will work as intended. The only questionable thing was some sprint uses which I forget what it was.
well, my Mi Note 2 supports VoLTE so I have no reason to think that this device will not work accordingly.

For wi-fi calling I just went to an area with wi-fi but no cell signal and confirmed I was able to make a call with it turned on. For VoLTE I just checked that the data didn't drop to 3G or EDGE when I made a call. And for HD Voice I just called another T-Mobile phone and it'll say "HD" next to the call timer if it's an HD Voice call.
Wifi calling turned on today on my phone after not working the past 3 days.

Wifi Calling on At&t Google Pixel 2 XL

Opened the Settings app earlier and there was a suggestion at the top to turn on Wifi calling. I'm on At&t and November update.
How did you get this to work? I've been trying to days to enable this option. I pushed "adb shell settings put global wfc_ims_enabled1" but to no avail has it worked.
I am on AT&T and have tried this with both a Google Pixel XL 2 from Google and Verizon. If you could give me any details of what your setup is like so I can try to enable this I'd dearly appreciate it!

+1 how? Very curious.
a screenshot showing the actual call going over wifi is needed.
unless ATT changed their mind in the last week, WiFi calling isnt available for the Pixel 2/XL, even if the option is enabled, the account has to be provisioned, and the phone needs the proper IMS profile, ATT to this date has refused to allow it.
This is the first I've seen the option even appear. Will test some calls and report back.

Looks like it isn't up and rolling yet, but the fact that the option appears has me hopeful. At&t still doesn't say that it supports VoLTE on P2XL, but we have that working, so perhaps Wi-Fi calling is coming soon.

Here's hoping. My apartment is on the bottom floor so reception is very spotty. What has been weird though is that if I start a call when I have reception and move to a spot in my apartment where there is no cell service, the call persists. So part of me thinks me enabling Wifi Calling from ADB may have done something?

Because idiots around the US have no idea what they're talking about then they say "VoLTE on AT&T only works with AT&T-branded Android phones or iPhones". As long as a manufacturer certifies their device with AT&T, and configure their devices with the proper IMS profile for AT&T's network, VoLTE will work. Google (HTC/LG) certified the Pixel 2 / 2 XL with AT&T for VoLTE and RCS, both of which work if all criteria are met (proper SIM card, IMEI updated in billing system, options turned on), and right now, 8.1 DP1/DP2 are needed to use VoLTE on AT&T's network, as the modem/IMS configuration was updated on the phone to support it.

VoLTE is enabled in Android 8.1 for AT&T. I just flashed the final factory image and it does indeed work. You do have to verify that your sim card is properly provisioned for VoLTE. As for the WiFi calling portion of this conversation, I still cannot access the "Wi-Fi calling" setting within "Mobile network settings."

Check to make sure your sim card supports it. If it does you'll wanna call att and have a technician make sure your account is provisioned properly. Also you'll need to make sure they have the IMEI of your phone.

I just bought a Verizon Pixel 2 XL and Volte doesn't work. I'm on 8.1.0 February security patch. Thanks very much. I am trying to decide between the V35 (unlocked) and V40. This info helps.
The phone is compatible, however the carrier may not allow it.
T mobile for example only allows band 71, wifi calling and volte on their phones.

Sorry to dig this up but how do you know for certain that you are able to use band 71? Have you downloaded a 3rd party and can see a band 71 signal with your v35?

All of the bands on my ULM phone are enabled, screenshots are included. Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE works. I cannot show you a screenshot from LTE Discovery of Band 71, since it is not enabled in the Philadelphia metro area, yet. A couple of months ago, I did see it pop up on my phone when I was traveling through the Miami metro area.

I bought an AT&T unlocked v35 and am wondering how to turn on Wi-Fi Calling. Did you have to do any steps to get your phone to work well on TMobile?

I don't know how to do it on the LMV350AWM. I have a LMV350ULM unlocked US version.

The later builds of the v350 awm firmware seem to work with tmobile WiFi calling and early ones, no. The certain fix is to flash your awm with ulm firmware and wifi calling works.

Yes, it does have band 71 (600Mhz).
In the dialer put in (277634#*#). It should show the band 71.

That doesnt work for me for some reason. Is there another code? I'm having an issue where calls are not coming through. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, I can always dial out though. Any ideas?

You have to use an LG dialer, not the Google's dialer.

OnePlus 8 Pro iN2020 version?

Looking at eBay for the OnePlus 8 Pro has led me to a few listings with the title having "iN 2020"
Is this a specific region designation? Does it differ from the USA model at all?
If anyone has any additional information, that'd be great. Thank you!

IN2020 refers to the International one, that's the one I got from OP to the US. It also means it's unlocked.
I have the IN2025 and also in US. Bought straight from OnePlus.

Questions to you guys.
Does that version work with dual Sim?
Did you get the 256Gb green version?
How is it working for you guys in USA?

It is the 256Gb glossy back. So far I have seen no defects. It has been working good for me. I am coming from the 7 pro and love this device!
I opted for the iN2020 from eBay also. Works flawlessly. Took the latest OTA(10.5.6) and retained root. No issues with 5G on T-mo. Glad I got it instead of waiting for stock from OnePlus.
I just received this model today and the bootloader unlock is greyed out
EDIT: Fixed

What kinds of speeds are you getting? I am in same boat and I have "5g" but it seems like my speeds aren't all that much faster than 4g
I just received my OnePlus 8pro IN2020 no service

I just received my in2020 and it will not read my TMobile sim is there something I have to do for it too read how did you get yours to work
IN2020 denotes the region which in this case means it is made for the Chinese market. You may find certain bands are missing so may not work correctly on some carriers.

That's not actually 5G I'm sure, use cell mapper and see if it says LTE+NR or just LTE, If it doesn't show +NR, you're getting a false 5G flag that is reporting a 5G capable tower but you aren't actually connecting to 5G.
See the screenshots below for comparison:

Thank you for this! So these towers can't emit a 5g signal. Do you know why?
Along with the differences, can anyone on TMobile confirm this model works with dual Sims? Wanted to get it on eBay but US versions arent active yet, so need international version as long as 5g works on dual SIM.

Can you send to me modem log when phone shows LTE+NR same time and NR Connected?
OnePlus 8 Pro IN2020 China model support only n41 5G band used in USA. I try list all supported combos used in TMUS: https://cacombos.com/device?model=IN2020&combolist=america_tmus_plmns . This model example doesn't support widely used n71 low band 5G.

T-Mobile is using the upper later indicator (a cell site that supports NR ENDC capability) to show the 5G signal icon in your status bar, not actual NR connectivity. So when you see the 5G indicator, it just means you're connected to a site and band that supports aggregating LTE+NR (ENDC), not that you're necessarily connected to NR.
So even if your phone does not support any T-Mobile 5G NR bands, it will still show 5G in the status bar if the cell site you're connected to supports aggregating LTE and NR together. T-Mobile even has cell sites broadcasting the upper later indicator with no 5G NR signal nearby, so even phones with T-Mobile NR bands will show the 5G icon a lot of the time without an actual NR signal.
The IN2020 does not support T-Mobile N71 NR.
