Thank you Khalid!
Could you however simply share a .img file? I don't know what to do with a .rar file?
Thanks!

Extract it with a zip program like 7zip or app like Mixplorer. The image is inside.

It's better to boot it first, there is no risk that way.
Plus the "guide" by kalid is literally a copy of mine. It was closed for good reason
The reason why it's "complicated" is due to the fact that not only is it good practice to obtain your own boot.img it means the failure rate plummets.
Plus each step and alternative is explained and a step by step procedure documented.
Could I have shortened it? Sure.

Why? Am I incorrect. How would you like to spend a tonne of time on a guide so it could be copied?
Pffft. Get a grip.

First I didn't copy your guide and I didn't want to. I just provided the boot img someone asked for. Also people do copy guides that's what they do if they don't have any knowledge and they still want to look techy so don't worry keep up with the good work and stay +ve.

Converting the .zip to .tar.bz2 ?

So with the introduction of the nvflash it looks like we now need to use a .tar.bz2 file which contains the ROM in 3 files...
is there anyways to convert an existing ROM that is in a .zip file type to the .tar.bz2 type? Say.. Prime!1.4 US version for example..
i guess it would just speed up the process if we can convert the ROM we want by ourselves...
hopefully that makes sense, i was just thinking aloud.
You dont need to flash that file. Extract the contents of that package to the nvflash folder and run the download.bat file.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
ok sorry.. flash was the wrong word.. but the contents of a .zip are not the same as the contents of the ROM provided in the nvflash instructions.. just wondering how to get a .zip ROM to become the necessary files to use in nvflash
I don't think it has to be .tar.bz2.. you're just moving the files from that extraction to the root folder of /nvflash anyway.
It just needs to be three .imgs

your right.. and i know i can use like imgburn to make those imgs.. but what files to put in each of the 3 is the question i guess
Just extract the 3 files in the tarball(.tar.bz2) into the nvflash directory. Thats it. No modding the .img files.

I think the OP wants to make his own .imgs for his own ROMs.
Oh i think the android sdk provides those tools.

this is correct... say.. for example sake.. i want to take a Prime!1.4 US version (since the WW version is the only .tar.bz2 available now) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052380 and make it into 3 imgs for use in nvflash to then get a rooted Prime1.4 US version when its all set and done..
which files from the .zip would go into which imgs?
to be honest i dont even know if it could even be done...or if thats the way it is even done.. its all just a thought.
PS sorry for all the confusion.

Well I found out that the .tar.bz2 was WW not too long ago. As somebody mentioned, you can boot into clockwork and wipe (not sure if you have to but i did it anyway) and flash the US version right over. The OP of the NVFlash thread said that roach will come out with a 1.5 very soon. So right there might be your answer.. just wait patiently! Or if it bothers you, you can just download the US and flash it over.
I flashed the US version right over the WW version and i have no problems.

well flashing US over WW seems easy enough.. or waiting.. but thats harder to do haha

Put "boot.img" into bump folder and run "bumped.bat"or
open cmd and type: bump.exe boot.img or recovery.imgor

Dude, it's a Windows Batch so you run it on your personal computer on the Windows OS.
If you don't know what it does, what it is and how it works just don't use it and don't try whatever you're trying.
No offense but just let it be if you know nothing (Jon Snow).

You should research carefully before posting comments. If you don't know what it is, this is a chance for you to know about it.

[TOOL] Password/pin/pattern removal tool flashable in TWRP

Hi, I'm a lazy bastard, and I also rock a number of ROMs. It's such a pain to remember my previous pattern lock if I want to restore a TWRP backup from a different ROM. I found this easy method to get rid of security.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/themes/tool-remove-lockscreen-password-pin-t3692411
When you are ready to use it, just restore your ROM backup in TWRP; Flash this Unlock_PIN_PW.zip; When your phone boots up you should have no pesky security problems.
Works good?

You can also just delete all gatekeeper.* and locksettings.* files under /data/system after restoring the backup.
Under 8.X ROMs there is just a locksettings.db file, if I'm right.

Hi, I'm a lazy bastard, and I also rock a number of ROMs. It's such a pain to remember my previous pattern lock if I want to restore a TWRP backup from a different ROM. So I made a flashable zip that automates the process of deleting the five /data/system files associated with security after I restore a ROM.
Please be aware that this may not work if you have encrypted /data. If any brave soul wants to test it, let me know.
So, directions are:
Download Unlock_PIN_PW.zip from here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3gcDbDvV4MkWXRHTUswY3JSYnc
Place it in your /sdcard or otg for safe keeping (you never know when you might need it)

Thanks for this! Noted! I got a handle on the eu flash.
How would I go about flashing the OEM
Im working on a magisk module for the oem folder. Will be testing later before posting.
Any results from flashing? I'm at work unfortunately
I suggest everyone to be careful as i just saw that payload-dumper returns an error at the end of its process extracting the OTA.
The file may have been corrupted during phone to pc copy. Proceed at your own risk.
