What do you mean? You said it added a camera dot thing but there isn't a setting? What does that Camera Dot thing do? Maybe you downloaded a app and it's not a OP thing?

It makes a green ring around the camera hole when the camera is activated then keeps a green dot next to it as long as the camera is on. Even when using face unlock

Oh, so basically it lets you know when the camera is active, thanks for the information

So oddly enough this update fixes whatever issue my doordash driver app was having with 5G. I was having an issue where everytime they sent an order it paused my dash. Now it has no issues at all. Im sure their were other apps having issues too but none i use.

Kernel is updated, with a build date of 10/16 now.
Honestly I'm not sure what the updated "fixed", because my phone has been rock solid from the moment I set it up. Excellent battery life, not excessively killing background processes.

It breaks your camera.

My camera shots before this update were amazing. I have an 8 Pro as well and outside of better details on the 8 Pro, my 8T was a step above my wife 8. Then the update happened. Now it's doing the exact same thing like what Unlocked Users were experiencing with Low Nightscape Shots, white balance issues, and overall image quality before their first update. After this update my camera is now experiencing these issues. I'm literally on the phone to return this unit and then buying the unlocked version.

Stupid what tmobile is doing not letting oneplus push updates to us that have the t-mobile variant...is not right is not fair

Is this common with all t mobile phones? I guess that's the trade off for us getting it cheaper with promos and monthly payments. We seriously do need some updates asap though

They don't do it to Apple and they don't do it to google, and I'm almost sure they don't do it to samsung either...
Because these companies won't let t-mobile dictate that to them. Oneplus let t-mobile bully them with ****ty terrible policy and restrictions like that.

What the crap 5.1 in Verizon N6?

http://phandroid.com/2015/02/26/exclusive-verizon-nexus-6-march-12-android-5-1-volte-support/
Does voLTE require a hardware upgrade or is this potentially a feature that all n6s can enjoy?

My house phone is better than your iPhone.
T-mobile is actually testing VoLTE on N6. I think it will be in the OS. Time will tell.
Band 12 volte and WiFi calling I hope but I'm more interested in performance and battery improvements

While that may or may not be accurate they at least have some good news. I won a Nexus 9 from them during the 20 days of giveaways in December so they aren't all bad.
As far as 5.1 goes if its out on VZW then it will be out on all Nexus 6's as far as I'm concerned. Whether or not google posts the ROM devs can likely extract the files and incorporate them into a ROM. Let's see what happens because I would like to use B12 and WiFi calling on T-Mobile. I know T-Mobile has to enable some things in their end for it to work but at least we would have the software here ready and waiting.
With all the issues the N6 has on Sprint I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon wants that fixed before releasing on their network. Maybe the texting and call issues are CDMA related rather than Sprint specific?
I've had my N6 on Verizon for months, and everything works perfectly.

Same, with the exception of the network extender. On the extender, no 3G data and the signal indicator goes wonky. It also tries very hard to connect to an outside tower rather than the extender...
Hope they fix the data icon and connections taking long to actually connect
Have Verizon actually got a n6 with 5.1 or is it just hearsay.

Some discussion at the thread above.
Edit: hit return too quick.
I don't recall seeing anything official from Verizon or Google that it will be 5.1. I think that's what everyone is guessing based on the features posted by Verizon for the phone, T-Mobile comments and that 5.1 has been spotted somewhere in the world on some handsets. I'm looking forward to it as I have a lot of problems with WiFi and Bluetooth which I hope this will clear up. Also, if rumors are true and we get wifi calling, band 12 (t-mobile customer) and VoLTE, all the better.

Missing some Advanced Features from settings...

Is anyone else missing some features from the advance feature menus on the verizon s7 edge? I was looking for the switch for the app drawer removal and the switch for the white pages caller id. Is there any way to sideload with out rooting? I cannot root i use samsung pay everyday.
Verizon has removed the white pages feature.
Any way to enable them like you can with adaptive storage?

Coming from an iPhone 5s to this thing and I am again reminded of carrier tampering and bloatware on Android phones. Seriously, why would Verizon not allow users to try out the app drawer removal option?

FYI - This doesn't actually do anything. It will say you've turned it on, but it doesn't work.
They also removed the auto restart feature.
I finally have 7.0 on my Verizon GS7 Edge. I know Verizon blocks some Samsung features, but I was wondering if anyone has a list of everything that is missing. Unfortunately, this is a work phone, so I can't just switch carriers. I had the Note 7 with T-Mobile, but we all know how that turned out. Rather than carrying 2 S7 Edge phones I decided to cancel my line with T-Mo and just rock the one phone for a while. Now I'm wondering if that was a mistake.

Hey, just be happy they didn't remove the GPS, phone-dialer, SMS and the clock - and then offer to sell them back to you [VZ Clock, VZ GPS, VZ Phone, etc.]
Hell, I'm kind of surprised they don't remove the entire Android OS and offer to sell THAT back to you for a monthly fee.

Well, they do have VZ Nav, and I'm honestly surprised they haven't blocked Google Maps from their branded devices. Back in the early days of Android, they actually didn't ship them with Maps, though you could still install it later.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Verizon branded nexus 6 have an unlockable bootloader? And I can confirm the unlocked version of the nexus 6 having fully working volte minus video calling on Verizon
You guys are silly if you believe them. Research the last time Verizon had a Nexus.
Why in the world would Verizon want to handle updates other than to alter, add bloat and remove features they csn charge you for.

Yes. Unless someone cracks the bootloader. Verizon carries all the government contracts so they will never knowingly allow unlocked phones on their network. Honestly though I doubt you will find a more streamlined experience than stock Android on the Pixel. It was designed to run 7.1. I doubt any ROM will improve on it. The fact that Google is in control of the software as well means you will always be on the latest version.

Right. So I don't see anything about Verizon and not allowing carriers like Verizon to remove apps and features on their phones. They let them install bloatware Verizon apps that can be "deleted" but can they be uninstalled?
This isn't like Apple because Apple doesn't let Verizon "handle" their updates.
I bit the bullet and ordered a pixel xl, but nobody will know how Verizon will tamper with it until a new version of android releases.

Update [10/12/16]:?*Google and Verizon seem to have reached a revised and more firmly defined position on this matter. In a new statement provided this morning, Google now says: "Google controls the distribution of all OS updates and security patches for Pixel devices. OS updates and monthly security patches will be updated on all Pixel devices (Verizon and non-Verizon versions) simultaneously."
Everything I have read has stated the the VZ apps are uninstallable.
It is more like Apple for updates in this case. Google and Verizon both said Google will be pushing the updates.

Yeah the Nexus program was just google dabbling. They are going directly after apple with the Pixel. And hopefully other Android OEM's. Fragmentation has always been a problem and Google is finally starting to do something about it. iOS has always had the upper hand this way by controlled releases and software/hardware being designed together. That's exactly what the Pixel was made to compete with.

Qualcomm backdoor found

So recently there was an article on XDA about finding a Qualcomm app preinstalled that could be used as a backdoor granting root without unlocking the bootloader. It doesn't clarify whether such an app would work on all Qualcomm chipsets (835) since it's shared by various devices. Thoughts?

It was found on a one plus, but if it's a Qualcomm app it's should work on Android in general
Well, you would need the same Qualcomm app software to switch it on, and have to use fastboot to push it to the device. If your goal is to achieve root, you can just push a modified boot image, which is the best way to do it now, to the device. So it would be the same amount of work at best.
I'm definitely not an expert, though...

True, but those with VZW pixels whose bootloader can't be unlocked...it seemed plausible. It makes sense though that'd it'd have to be installed as a system app though. But the possibility of root without unlocking.. It came across like finding a 4 leaf clover

I don't think either. I think what's happening is due to Google increasing the warranty by a year and by the announcement of burn-in being possible Google might just be directly handling all the surplus on replacement devices personally.

Not just system. PRIVILEGED system, and signed with the vendor key. You can't just copy it on, even if you already have root access to the device, because the platform will reject it unless its been signed by the same private key as the platform.

For those that already got Oreo during the first wave, it's a 348mb patch with April security update.

I received the latest update of Oreo last night, hopefully it fixed the battery drain of the April update.
I get frustrated as well with Samsung's slow upgrade path but I have the Pixel 2XL as well as the Note 8 but the Note is better in so many ways.
Say what you will about the Samsung UI, it is pretty well though out, and you don't need to download separate apps to do the things you take for granted in the Note.
Build quality of the Note is vastly superior to the Pixel IMO.

o easily.. my friends as the pixel 2xl and note 8 build beats it by a mile. It just the support by samsung that sucks. Samsung UI has definitely improved from previous models like S4-S5.. I guess I was so spoiled with Nexus line and super fast updates.. lol

note 8 vastly broader with capabilities and would not go to an inferior display. fact.

Just updated and lost WiFi calling... no options at all. tried restoring the phone and in the beginning, I get popups about wifi calling features but ones all finished, I cannot find it anywhere and activate it again. That sucks man!

did you do factory reset yet, and if continues, seems you may need to get device reflashed at best buy or samsung.
