I have heard of backing up persist.img using MSM Tool without root. But don't know the exact procedure. However if you know of anyway of backing it up with root. Kindly share that.

Sorry friend I will really do not know about it, bit when I read OnePlus 8 pro section in XDA they have the help section about it, they explained about taking backup of persist image, best of luck
Edit: hi this is the guide explaining what you have requested I think if it is not sorry for the wrong link

How to prevent losing your imei #

If a mod would please delete this thread, it would be much appreciated
actually backing up the efs folder wont work to restore your imei if its lost on the lte sgs 3s. the file needed to restore your imei(nv_data.bin) is missing from the efs partition.
what's the benefit of having the imei?

MODS PLEASE REMOVE THREAD, I APOLOGIZE, BUT THE INFO I POSTED WAS APPARENTLY INCORRECT.
@jasonyump, thank you for taking the time to let me know that I'm not as safe to flash away as I thought I was! I was very weary to flash anything when I heard of this problem, and I think I'll stay stock w/ root until they learn more about this odd issue:-(. I'm sorry for posting inaccurate information, but the source is an experienced user & I was inclined to take his word. Of course there's always the possibility that I misunderstood what I read in his post, but I believe I read it correctly?
@ dektoud, Hey I greatly appreciate the link you posted to follow the progress of diagnosing the imei issue! I for one am going to be very careful until this is solved, just as I stated above. You guys are great, and I'm glad I didn't continue thinking all was safe for me!

EFS/IMEI Backup for Moto Z Play

It hasn't been long since I joined the Moto Z Play development and since then I was worried about the EFS. Because it's complex here in the SnapD Chipsets. So what I did was do an adb backup of the EFS partition but that's a lil tricky thing and trust me I couldn't have just enough faith.
So if you wanna backup the easy way. Download the attachment.
1. Put it in SD Card.
2. Flash via TWRP.
3. You'll see the options yourself.
It enables you to make an EFS(IMEI) backup and you can choose to store it on SD card or in the internal storage.
Just decreasing the access time for people here.
Download it from HERE.
Cheers guys! Happy flashing. ?
This is not my work, I am providing info to people owning addison and nothing else, credits to original developer :
A big thanks to my friend @dr.ketan
Hmmmm....thanks for that. Usefull item.
Great work! Thank you.
Hi sar, amazing work thankyou for this im sure you'll gonna save my motherboard for future trouble.

How did u manage to do that ? Can u please give a detailed guide ? Which ROM did u use ? My XT1650-03 IMEI is 0 and I don't have a EFS backup to use, I would really appreciate if u could give me this help, thanks in advance.
This working only when you lost the IMEI but the IMEI SV is a real number (for example 08) and you can call someone or use internet with mobile net ... The ROM is specific which Bootloader do you have, before you flash another ROM... When you get a Upgrade with the Bootloader Version, you can try the newest Factory Rom (with OTA) which you can remember, before you flash the other (Fastboot)ROM. But before you make it, you don't use the command for flashing the Bootloader in Fastboot Mode. Notice the Data from "fastboot getvar all" always and you get back your Phone easier to Stock Factory Status.
For a detailed Guide, look in my other previous posts, thanks.

Careful: that your currently installed ROM can't read your IMEI does not necessarily mean that it is lost! Most cases of lost IMEI occur when people think their IMEI would have been lost anyway and then overwrite EFS with wrong things.
can i flash it on my moto g5 plus..?
Well, backup is no problem, but restoring ends in a lot of errors. It's nothing urgent since I wouldn't have ever noticed that of I hadn't checked IMEI but still something that just should work
Does it work on Moto G5 Plus?

Do you think opening another thread with your first post here on XDA will give you the solution? I don't wanna be rude but there's a bunch of threads regarding that problems, from restoring EFS from a custom rom over to restore a persist file from a Moto G4.
If there would be a stable and proper solution it would have be posted here.
So you can try out the existing fixes or hope for a stock Oreo firmware to be released by Lenovo which may open up new ways to get this problem solved.

Ok thanks for ur help
Unfortunately, there is no fix or solution for imei. As for signal, that is efs, so you need to flash an Oreo ROM to get a working signal. Unfortunately even this does not always work now, but once you get working 4g etc, backup the efs partition in twrp. Do not lose this backup, you will need to use it often until/if ever, a dev finds a permanent fix.

Ya I got my imei and 4g signals back but I'm not receiving ota
I've also heard that people who have received ota and after flash the update the imei goes to 0 because of modemst1 and 2
There has to be some way. hope developers will find out a way.
BTW thanks

I would stay away from ota, it is getting risky, there is something wrong with our devices due to 64bit Oreo. To be safe, stay within twrp. If you want the Oreo update, wait for a flashable version.

Unroot OP6T

Hello, I have the 6T phone rotated with the method proposed here. I would like to know in what way I could remove the root and block the bootloader again. Thank you.

How to downgrade from 11.0.1.1.in11aa back to OS11

Hi since updating my oneplus 8 pro in2020 to stable build 11.0.1.1.in11aa I have lost the ability to connect to 5g on my phone, even though there were some other improvements (like battery life) I would rather downgrade to stable build 11.0.0.0. I am very new at this and my device is not rooted, is there any way to downgrade without wiping the device? I know oneplus released a downgrade package to oxygen 10, and then you can upgrade to 11 from there, but doing this would make me lose all data. Is there a simpler way to downgrade straight to 11 without the whole procedure? Thank you.
If you go for MSM which you may do, then no.
You could perhaps get a full img and go that way but I've not done this myself.
Check the MSM thread, chances are this questions been asked and answered.
Also saw a thread for 11AA too with a full zip so check that one out too.
You can use "downgrade.zip"from 11 to 10.
I don't understand why people guide you to MSM tool. That is for bricked devices and is the last resort.
Anyway downgrade will wipe youre phone clean.

Yea this is what I thought about doing, I guess I don't have any other choice, would rather not resort to MSM right from the get go

Did you read my post? I tried to dissuade from using MSM!
Plus you just provided the same answer I did? In so many words.
I've always told people that MSM is an excessive resort to mundane issues, I'm far from a person who advises to use it without due diligence and an alternative that may work.
i faced same issue, follow this guide and once you done u will get your 5g Back + volte.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ejLtVQTpXZaB5XGNOBRI5dZV4GpuCKtHOGo6v49hWdY/edit#
after that if you dont need to root and relock your bootoarder flash with msm.

I did a full downgrade to 10 with the rollback package from oneplus and then reupdated to 11.0.0.0, thanks for the suggestions though!
