How to downgrade from 11.0.1.1.in11aa back to OS11 - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi since updating my oneplus 8 pro in2020 to stable build 11.0.1.1.in11aa I have lost the ability to connect to 5g on my phone, even though there were some other improvements (like battery life) I would rather downgrade to stable build 11.0.0.0. I am very new at this and my device is not rooted, is there any way to downgrade without wiping the device? I know oneplus released a downgrade package to oxygen 10, and then you can upgrade to 11 from there, but doing this would make me lose all data. Is there a simpler way to downgrade straight to 11 without the whole procedure? Thank you.

If you go for MSM which you may do, then no.
You could perhaps get a full img and go that way but I've not done this myself.
Check the MSM thread, chances are this questions been asked and answered.
Also saw a thread for 11AA too with a full zip so check that one out too.

You can use "downgrade.zip"from 11 to 10.
I don't understand why people guide you to MSM tool. That is for bricked devices and is the last resort.
Anyway downgrade will wipe youre phone clean.

Yea this is what I thought about doing, I guess I don't have any other choice, would rather not resort to MSM right from the get go

Did you read my post? I tried to dissuade from using MSM!
Plus you just provided the same answer I did? In so many words.
I've always told people that MSM is an excessive resort to mundane issues, I'm far from a person who advises to use it without due diligence and an alternative that may work.

i faced same issue, follow this guide and once you done u will get your 5g Back + volte.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ejLtVQTpXZaB5XGNOBRI5dZV4GpuCKtHOGo6v49hWdY/edit#
after that if you dont need to root and relock your bootoarder flash with msm.

I did a full downgrade to 10 with the rollback package from oneplus and then reupdated to 11.0.0.0, thanks for the suggestions though!

Question with modding A2017G model

I am not new to the whole flashing and rooting process, did it for quite some time, but now reading about the A2017G version got me a bit scared, because I can't afford to lose the phone right now, and most of the methods are outdated or really unreliable. Please help with this problem, if you know a thread how to unlock bootloader and get root with clear instructions then link it please, and if it requires downgrading, because I am on 7.1.1., please also link how to do that, because I never did it.

didn't you see the stickied toolkit?

WARNING: Some A2017G devices may be PERMANENTLY bricked when flashing packages through EDL mode due to slightly different partition tables. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I got my axon 7 on friday, I rooted it within 30 minutes after getting home with it
I used the toolkit and it worked very well, I have the 2017G version, unlocked, bought in Romania.

Lol everything is that way here. I 'permanently bricked' mine after I rebooted it without a system, it didn't even show the ZTE screen. Got it to life with a screwdriver and patience
Or use controllerboy's guide, which you could've used all along without even asking here
In other words, either take the plunge or stay stock. There's no 100% safe way to do this, there are a bunch of people who brick their phones while following the guides, and they brick them for no apparent reason as they were doing everything right
Mine has personal and work SIM so don't want to compromise it's use at all.

Flashing OOS on Chinese OP6T (A6010) that comes with H2OS

I am getting a Chinese OP6T that comes with H2OS in 2 weeks time. Any easy way (guide) to flash stock OOS to this Chinese phone A6010? Thanks in advance.
just unlock the bootloader and sideload the oos.zip (full) in stock recovery then flash it from there. you could also do fastboot method. works on my oneplus device since the 3/3T days.

Have you done it for oneplus 6T yourself? I was wondering whether the A/B partitions in OP6T will have a different approach to flash...
Thank you.
according to my friend chinese oneplus 6
you only need a full flash zip of oos and just local update from updater in the phone
no need to unlock bootloader
PS. and no need to factory reset too, but i still recommend to reset it
I am from China, and use Chinese OP6T (A6010) that comes with H2OS
just like fangchunxi1999 says, put full OOS zip on 6t sdcard, local update from updater in the phone setting
after finish, do a factory reset, OOS now!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I will do the same when I get hold of my phone. I asked someone to hand carry for me.
By the way, do you root your phone too?

Interestingly enough I just bought a 6t in China and I have been thinking about this.
- Question for you. Will you still be in China? If not, or you are planning a vacation somewhere, OnePlus support will actually help you flash OOS on your device. This only works outside of China though (even if you have a VPN).
- For others: what is the big difference between H2OS and OOS? I considered flashing, but I have a trip outside of China in a week so I was thinking I can just wait until then and let OnePlus do the flash for me. For now though, I have installed all the apps I want including Google apps and a VPN. Is there any real reason I would want to flash to OOS instead of just leaving it as H2OS? Thanks for any answers.

No. I am in Malaysia. I ask someone who happen to be there to bring it back for me. Dont think there is a oneplus support Centre here.

This isn't at a support center. I just asked used OnePlus support online and they can do it for you through a PC with Windows installed.

Just got Device is corrupted, dont know how to restore it back. Someone said I could use MMSDownloadTool but there was not a version for HydrogenOS. I wonder I could use this from International MMSDownloadTool but I'm so afraid I would brick my Chinese variant device.
Well here's a question. If I wanted to flash h2os onto my international unlocked op6t could I do the same method just reversed?

In all honesty, you can either:
Unlock the bootloader back and just use the device as is or sideload the OOS.zip or you can try the global tool and hope for the best, since unless you unlock, the device is unusable anyways, if someone can get the Chinese variants tool it would be a Chinese user, others can’t request it..you’re better off contacting OP via chat and push for an OS reflash until they oblige and make an appointment with a tech to remote flash for you.

Well I would guess they work vice verse, worse case it doesn’t work, you can always use the msm tool to recover.

I have tried de system update method, but I receive the message "The version of your selected package is lower than that of the current system. to avoid booting up failure, downgrading is not allowed"
Help!
I installed the hydrogen os a few days ago, and it was a nightmare.the boot animation was neat. And the oppo play store has more recent updates than play..

You would have to convert your device to Global similar to how it was done with the 7 Pro first. Then you should apply the beta 2. You will need MSM tool and the ops file for global model HD1917 (it is linked in another thread). You do not need to have bootloader unlocked to do this process. Warning: You might lose 5G capability by doing this. I have not tested it yet because we are only at beta 2. When we get to beta 7 or 8 then I might consider it.

I do not know. There is no thread about converting so I would guess nobody wants to try. Sorry. I gave you instructions how to do it if you wish to try yourself.
Are you advanced enough to convert back and forth using the MSM tool? Have you used it on any oneplus phone before? It is basically like ODIN for Samsung. Flashes factory images.
If you want step by step instructions , message me.

I think i am i have used it before on my op3 and 6,6t, but I'll wait a little more maybe something comes up..
Thanks though
New security features implemented by OnePlus makes it not possible to convert the new phones. Currently there is no way to get around this new security feature until an exploit can be found. I have read opinions that suggest OnePlus is doing this to force people to buy directly from them. Either way it is sad!
This phone was already difficult to work with and now this.

Downgrade Oxygen OS without root

Hi, since Oxygen OS is going to be updated to remove the Photochrom filter, if I buy the device in a year, could I just downgrade to have the feature? I don't want to root it to preserve security. Never had Oxygen OS or any OnePlus device, no idea how this works.

There is almost always a way to downgrade, however there is almost always a set of horror stories stating the users phones have been bricked.
Unless it's completely necessary I would avoid that procedure.
Or
Tread very carefully

Make sure to read this before you do anything

Rooting Tab S6 Lite with Android 11 installed

Hi all.. The last device I rooted was an HTC EVO so it has been a while . I've been reading a lot and trying to catch up. I found both of these guides below to root the device. They both use a different approach. So I guess there's more than one way to do this, got it.. I guess I am just looking for some advice as to what is the most current/best way/safest to root the Tab S6 Lite. I have installed all updates provided by Samsung which has brought me to Android 11. I figured I should ask if the fact that I am already running android 11 could throw any monkey wrenches into the process of rooting it. It appears that Andoird 10 is expected within the guides. Can anyone recommend a guide for Android 11?
Thank you in advance.

I hate to say it, but I don't think using the discontinued TWRP is really too big of a deal. All things considered, it doesn't have too many bugs, and you can work around things like no adb sideload.
I just have a question. Do you think TWRP will ever be revived for this tablet, even an unoffifcial one? I mean, there seems to be a demand. Is it permanently discontinued or...?

No, I got stage fright at this point and figured the process isn't mature enough for my scenario, or I just didn't get pointed in the right direction. I think that part that concerned me was KNOX... something that didn't exist the last time I rooted an android phone (HTC EVO, yeah that long ago).

Thanks for replying. My S6 Lite is due to arrive today. I'll be trying to root my P610 with latest A11 firmware (US 2DUK1), with TWRP, will capture whatever I do.
Awesome! Much appreciated, I suspect there's many out there waiting for an updated guide.
I think twrp is not a good solution, check twice before flashing.
Rooted mine which is lte version, picked up latest from samfirm and patched AP with magisk, added rest of the files in odin from stock.
After flashing done, you must flash vbmeta and boot from stock packed in tar,to avoid error.
