Redmi k20 Pro and Filmic Pro error - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Afternoon all,
Essentially my k20 pro won't let me shoot in Filmic Pro outside with 1/48 shutter speed without completely filling the shot with blinding light so that nothing can be seen. Does anyone know why this might be happening? It doesn't matter which combination of settings I use.

Should I get the Mi A1 over Asus Zenfone 3?

My needs:
- Good Camera, esp for indoor and low light use. Need a good manual mode. Portrait mode not important, need to shoot mostly landscape pics.
- Good build quality
- Long lasting battery (~1-2 days for light use)
- Light user, no gaming or other heavy apps
The camera of Mi A1 vs Zenfone 3:
- A1 = dual set up vs Zenfone = single 16MP camera
- A1 = no Laser autofocus, no OIS
- Zenfone 3 = Sony IMX 298 sensor (same as on on oneplus 3t), not sure about A1 sensor quality.
- Maximum shutter speed : 0.067s for A1 vs 32s for Zenfone 3
- Zenfone 3 has a full featured manual mode (more options for shutter speed, WB, ISO etc)
Zenfone 3 comes with a full glass back, and is now more than a year old. The price is half of the launch price. What would you advise. The mi A1 or the Zenfone 3?
go for the A1. some users of ZF3 are having camera issue like blur camera or not focusing.
The camera is not great you need full light. The dual camera is more of a marketing gimmick.
Battery is also not great but does well for the capacity.
For battery I recommend the Lenovo P2 although I have no info on the camera.

thanks for that info, I went thru the Asus forums and like you said, users have complained of camera focus issuing. Are ther any known issues in the Mi A1 that I need to be aware of?

thanks for confirming what i suspected about the camera on A1. Lenovo P2 was on my list, but its bigger and heavier than I need.

Both are 5.5" the size difference is minimal. Slightly thicker due to the monster 5100mAh battery
Expandable memory up to 256mb and HD video. The main drawback being that pesky Lenovo software but community is active on here.
If you take indoor photos, don't buy Mi A1. It has awful low light performance (and I mean awful. The pictures come out grainy. However it has slightly improved by Oreo update). The daylight photos come out amazing though! Landscape photos are amazing.
with google camera it's not bad at all

Yes, i know.. it is all about software... The hardware, as you see, it is capable to shot great pics in low light condition
@traianescu
thanks for the pics, I can see the big difference.

If you don't mind, can you post few comparison images? specially in low light. I'm curious.

Thanks! Zenfone 3 is better IMO. In A1, images are blurry but in Zenfone 3 images looks sharp and better.
You can get sharp images with the a1 but there is kind of stabilisation so it's hard and videos are better in zenfone 3 too, if you switch to night mode in the zenfone the Image is very bright and pretty clear but night mode on a1 does nothing lol

I had a Zenfone 2 Laser and man, how much I hated that phone. It has bloatware with takes a big part of the space and like a Custom ROM fan I am no one even cared for that device. So, I recommend any phone over Asus ones ^^

Is HDR+ enabled? The difference between the pictures is huge.
Yes, hdr activated on both cameras, to have a fair comparison..
The camera it is more than i need on the phone.. my complains are two other thing: it is huuuge, compared with my ex iphone 5s and i don't have a real fm radio app.. maybe when we will have the kernel source...

Mi A1 with Google camera or Redmi Note 5 Pro

Hey guys! I just wanted to know is Mi A1 with Google camera performs better than Redmi Note 5 Pro or not.In stock Camera comparison Redmi Note 5 Pro is a clear winner but what happens with Google camera port. Can someone please compare and post some images and video samples of comparisons.
Thanks!
Mi A1 with GCam should be noticeably better than stock Redmi Note 5 Pro but, the Redmi will surely be able to run it too (just give it some time). The 5 pro should be better once it gets it. It is also packing a somehow superior sensor, Sony's IMX 486 while the A1 is running a generic omnivision sensor.

Redmi Note 5 Pro also can use GCam port later. So guess...who is the winner ?
the winner or the best one.. is the one we have right now.. :cyclops:
Current - it would be the Mi A1 with GCam . Soon , once the Note 5 Pro do have the Gcam installed , then my guess it will be better than the Mi A1 . Looking at the N5 Pro comes with a better lenses installed .
Yes mi a1 is batter far from note 5 and 5 pro.
MI A1 IS BEST MOBILE TILL TODAY 19-2-18-... USE IS CHEERAFULLY:laugh:

Mi 9t and dc dimming

Does mi 9t have dc dimming?
I think there is't DC dimming for K20/9t. Also I'm interested is the difference noticeable from K20 Pro where DC dimming is available?
If I'm not mistaken Xiaomi has said to enable DC dimming and 'always on display' for all xiaomi phones with an oled display.
when noticing screen flickering in low brightness, one can use the app "OLED Saver" as a work-around until officially this is taken care of

ok yes
anyone knows when the dc dimming will come for the xiaomi mi 9t?
is there a custom rom which has it?
Beta rom has DC dimming. It would be great seeing this feature in custom roms.

VR/Cardboard quality

Hello everyone,
I enjoy using VR apps on my phone from time to time.
Currently, I own a Redmi Note 3 Pro (Kate) and a Redmi Note 5 Pro (Whyred), and I have to use the RN3 for VR, since the RN5 screen has somewhat a higher latency, which results in nausea and blurry image when moving my head.
I am wondering whether the Mi 9T/Redmi K20 screen offers a good experience for VR.
I know that usually OLED panels are associated with lower latencies, and less screen door effect, and that FHD resolution is not really high, but I was wondering if anyone has tested how Mi 9T/K20 performs in this regards, and is enjoable for really sporadic usage.
Thanks in advance!

Will dc dimming ever come to the mi 9t ?

Does anyone have a clue why the stock rom does not have dc dimming , while the mi 9t pro and a bunch of other phones got updates enabling the feature only leaving out the mi 9t. is it a hardware thing related to the display manufacturer ? Also if there is a rom with good dc dimming please let me know
I have this option on my 9t Pro, but honestly I don't recommend using it. Everything is extremely oversaturated and dark grey backgrounds look disgusting (uneven lighting). It's strange that regular 9T doesn't have this option.

Thanks for clarifying, I was about to sell my mi 9t and get a mi 9t pro for this feature alone, as I was using the unofficial picsel inexperience rom which had dc dimming support from the vantom kernel but the colors were as you described, so I think it's not worth the hassle. Thank you ?
