Mi 9t and dc dimming - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Does mi 9t have dc dimming?

I think there is't DC dimming for K20/9t. Also I'm interested is the difference noticeable from K20 Pro where DC dimming is available?

If I'm not mistaken Xiaomi has said to enable DC dimming and 'always on display' for all xiaomi phones with an oled display.

when noticing screen flickering in low brightness, one can use the app "OLED Saver" as a work-around until officially this is taken care of

ok yes

anyone knows when the dc dimming will come for the xiaomi mi 9t?
is there a custom rom which has it?

Beta rom has DC dimming. It would be great seeing this feature in custom roms.

Adaptive Brightness

Is anyone else having issues with adaptive brightness taking a while to adjust? I am on stock 8.0 with latest security update. When I open the phone it can take 3 seconds or so to apply before I can see the screen.
yes there is a problem, and it is even more irritating for me when in low light room i turn on the screen and it takes 3-4 sec to turn down the brightness
Yes, I have the same issue. Also, my friend has Xiaomi Mi A1 and he also has the same issue. The ambient light sensor responds slowly for some reason. My wife has Redmi Note 4X and its ambient light sensor is much better. Responds instantly when the light changes (e.g. exposing it to direct sunlight). Also, the screen is so much better on the Redmi Note 4X, I couldn't believe. I compared them side by side, and the whites are so white on Redmi Note 4X. On my Xiaomi Mi A1 the white is...yellow, wtf.

Are you sure night light isn't turned on on your phone ?
there are 2 types of screens used in Mi A1, and apparently one of them is showing yellowish colors like you described. the other one is much better and i am really satisfied with color reproduction even with the blacks (not like amoled ofc but really deep).

Of course not. It's just that the display on Redmi Note 4X has better color accuracy. Before I thought Mi A1 has identical hardware as Redmi Note 4X, buy it seems that's not the case.
By now the only thing that annoys me on my Mi A1 is this ambient light sensor being too slow. Apart from that, the phone is OK for the price.

I guess I wasn't the lucky one to get the "right" display.
Ok, after I posted this I turned up the brightness to 50% and still have adaptive switched on, it seems to have sorted it. Previously it was on 5% so maybe there is a bug there that is seeing what brightness setting level it is and adjusting that way and taking too long. Try it and see if it helps (or lower from 50%)

Mi A1 has identical hardware as Mi 5x. And you will be able to adjust the colour of the screen if you root (I'm not sure if it will make it better, because I've got the "right' display, so can't test it)

you can check which display is used in you phone by entering specific code in dialer (i cant remember the code :/), there you can see which components are used, 2 sets of different screens, memories and cameras( not 100% sure for this one) are used.

Did it and the app (Factorykit Test) hangs with a black screen on version info. I think all the other options are fine.
Does it work with the phone rooted with magisk with the stock rom+recovery?
Edit- disabling magisk and xposed solved the issue. The rear modules are OV12A10ii and OV13880ii.

Doesn't work with Xposed. Disable Xposed, reboot, do the tests and enable it again.

Mi 9T Display & Touch damaged

I just got a Mi 9T 6/128GB version. Two days back i've committed an accident and my phone display got broken, after that display got fully black & i can't operate it. There are lots of images in my phone. Can anyone tell how do i take this images backup.
Though its a new phone i didn't turn on usb debugging.
You can buy a replacement screen from Aliexpress for like $130 right now. That's probably the best thing you can do. I'm not sure how you can back up a phone that has no input, not screen and no ADB. It's not possible.
I think the storage is encrypted so you can't read from the flash with other means. Maybe if you had google photos it synced them online?
Mi 9T display Change
In my country mi 9T display isn't available, but Redmi k20 display is there. Can i change the display with Redmi k20 display??

have you replaced your 9T display yet? I've damaged my 9T display today :crying: touch is okay though.
Yes the k20 and mi 9t share the same specs, design and is technically the same phone, k20 display will work for mi 9t and vice versa.

[Request][Question] DC Dimming

hi everyone, i search recently about DC Dimming stuf and i discovered that K20 pro has DC dimming, as mi 9 and mi 8 has, so i wonder about the posibility of porting DC Dimming to k20/9T or Xiaomi has already thought about. thanks!
K20 (China) has it, so it will be ported to 9T
It seems it has been verified it will be added with a software update: https://piunikaweb.com/2019/08/08/redmi-k20-to-get-dc-dimming-soon/

looks they don't want to add anti-flicker mode aka dc dimming to our device despite they promised it for all devices with LED display.
is there any news about this feature?

Will dc dimming ever come to the mi 9t ?

Does anyone have a clue why the stock rom does not have dc dimming , while the mi 9t pro and a bunch of other phones got updates enabling the feature only leaving out the mi 9t. is it a hardware thing related to the display manufacturer ? Also if there is a rom with good dc dimming please let me know
I have this option on my 9t Pro, but honestly I don't recommend using it. Everything is extremely oversaturated and dark grey backgrounds look disgusting (uneven lighting). It's strange that regular 9T doesn't have this option.

Thanks for clarifying, I was about to sell my mi 9t and get a mi 9t pro for this feature alone, as I was using the unofficial picsel inexperience rom which had dc dimming support from the vantom kernel but the colors were as you described, so I think it's not worth the hassle. Thank you ?

Redmi k20 Pro and Filmic Pro error

Afternoon all,
Essentially my k20 pro won't let me shoot in Filmic Pro outside with 1/48 shutter speed without completely filling the shot with blinding light so that nothing can be seen. Does anyone know why this might be happening? It doesn't matter which combination of settings I use.
