OP8 Pro is not able to connect to my WearOS watch (Fossil Sport) - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hey guys, I have a new OP8 Pro and tried to connect it to my Fossil Sport smartwatch. The problem is that I am not even able to connect it. I did a factory reset on my watch and started the linking process in the wearOS app. Everything works fine until I select the my watch to connect. My phone asks me the check the code (it matches to the one on my watch) and after pressing pair, the phone continues with the process but the watch keeps telling me that my phone wants to connect and shows me the bt connect code. After 1/6 of the "getting informations from your watch" the app doesnt do sh*t anymore. I noticed that that the bt connection to my watch is disconnecting and connecting again and again but doesnt stay connected.
My troubleshooting is exactly Pike this redet post: https://amp.reddit.com/r/WearOS/comments/f20lxm/oneplus_7t_and_fossil_sport_not_connecting_help/
Unfortunely there isnt a solution to the problem. So maybe here is someone who had the same issue
I tried connecting my watch to another phone and it works perfectly so it is definitely a problem with my OP8.
Glad about any help. Thanks a lot!
Greetings
Marcel

I use a Fossil Sport, and had this same issue when I originally set mine up. I wish I had a better answer, but I just tried and tried again until it worked. Between each attempt I cleared everything I could think of. Reset the watch, cleared google play services cache, cleared wear os app cache, reinstalled the wear os app, manually removed the watch from bluetooth settings, reset network settings, I'm probably forgetting some things, but it did eventually connect. Frustrating, and I'm sorry I don't remember exactly what fixed it, but the good news is it will eventually work.

I don't have a sport but I have a gen 5 and there was no issue and I have had to reset and reconnect a couple times.
Best of luck!

I have a gen 5 and the devices are connect because i receive the notify but on the top of the smartwatch there is the cloud of the no connection... I think therr are some problem with the bluetooth of this phone

Thank you very mich for the reply. I've already done that at least 20 times, but at least there is hope that it will eventually work one time/day. Really frustrating and I hope they will fix this soon so when I have to reset my phone someday I will at least not have this problem again. :silly:

Okay guys it finally worked. Im not sure why, didnt do anything else but reinstalling, deleting chache and data of WearOS and Google play Services and resetting my watch. I can only imagine that it was because the languages of my phone and my watch didnt match. My phone is in english and I set my watch to german. It worked when I set up my watch in english (GB). I really dont know if that really was the solution or if it was just luck this time because i tried english (US) before that and it didnt work. So to anyone who is having the same problem I hope I can help you with this and hang on... I'll work sometime

Did you try changing the WearOS App's battery setting to not optimise and lock it in the background?

Note 2 + LG G Watch R connectivity issue

I just got a new LG G Watch R and when I first synced it my note 2, it works perfectly. After that, The watch got an update and now it won't even connect with the Google Wear app on my phone.
Anybody got the same issue? It's frustrating since it was working before the update on the watch.
I know this sounds silly but try it anyway. Turn the watch completely off. Then charge the battery to 100% and try again. Maybe reset the watch to factory before you try. Maybe, after you turn the watch back on, go into settings and try to search for other bluetooth devices. Sometimes this turns on the local bluetooth setting.
Let me know if it works.
Sent from my D5803 using XDA Free mobile app
My note 4 does the same thing it tells me android wear needs to refresh to uninstall and reinstall over and over again I cant fix it even after wiping the cache.

S7 Edge Issues

Hi All,
I've had the S7 Edge now for 3 months and I am generally loving the phone. However I have a few issues that are happening continoulsy:
Bluetooth turns itself on and the volume of the phone mutes itself.
Wifi turns itself off during the night even though I've selected the option to keep it on. I will wake in the morning and the phone is using my mobile providers data.
I have read various threads to factory reset the phone which I will do if it resolves the issues but I want to ensure my Apps return with the data they currently have residing in them e.g. 1Password etc.
Hoping someone has some thoughts,
Thanks.
CL
Did those issues always occur or start only recently?
Hi,
From memory they have always been there. I've just lived with them but they are becoming annoying.
Thanks.

this is not a common issue and I believe you got a defective unit. you should take it back to make warranty claim
I'll have a word with Samsung support. I would have thought that the software was telling it to do these things.

In the wifi settings, try disabling wifi smart network and setting also wifi always active on standby (the actual menu setting names might differ, I translated from italian).

Unfortunately I've tried all of those to no avail. Today the phone has 4 times muted itself and in addition Bluetooth has turned itself on automatically. All bizarre!
Do you use the edge panel "My Places?" This can change those settings based on location.

Unfortunately not I don't use it. I wish I did as that may be an answer! It happens all over to be honest and isn't linked to a certain location. It's very odd as I can be using the phone and suddenly it turns mute on. Sometimes bluetooth will turn on with it and sometimes not. Its frustrating as I am now missing calls and texts.
Appreciate any feedback.

Apps - application manager - apps that can change system settings. (names my differ. Translated from my language). See if any user app that you installed is enabled in there or try troubleshoot by disable one at a time.

Okay I've disabled them all for now. If things stop working I'll enable them one by one. There were a few that had access. Appreciate your help.
Just as an aside what is the best way to factory reset the phone and then reinstall the apps etc that I had installed. I'm thinking worst case if what you have proposed doesn't work? I had an iPhone prior to this and it was a pretty straight forward process.
Thanks.

I'm not TOTALLY sure, but I think that if you're logged in with your google account and go into settings->Backup and choose to backup to your google account, your app data should follow. After the backup is finished, factory reset and then when you log into your google account again you get an option to retrieve your old app+data.
Don't hang me up on this, as i'm not totally sure! But i THINK it works this way. Google at least mention app data in the decription, but well, not sure if everything follows.

BT keeps turning off

For the past few days, my BT setting keeps turning itself off every few hours. Once it happens, it then continues to turn itself off immediately each time I re-enable it. After an hour or so, it recovers and lets me turn it back on (until the next time a few hours later).
The phone is completely stock (APK1), never rooted, no 3rd-party power-saving, task-managing, or security apps ever installed, no power-saving modes turned on. It does not help to clear the system cache or the Bluetooth Share cache. Closing all open apps does not help. Rebooting sometimes helps temporarily, sometimes not even temporarily. I haven't seen the problem when I reboot in Safe Mode, so either it's caused by an app (I have hundreds), or else I just didn't leave it in Safe Mode for long enough for the problem to reappear. I have not recently installed any apps or made any settings changes. I've searched online and come across many suggestions but none are applicable and successful here.
Is there a system log somewhere that would tell me what is turning off the BT setting?

Wouldn't that delete all my WiFi passwords? I find several online mentions of people who unsuccessfully tried Reset Networks to solve BT problems, and no mentions of it being successful.

Try one more thing : Settings-> Applications-> in right top corner you have 3 dots, press and choose Show System Apps
scroll to Bluetooth share , click on it then click on Storage and Clear Data. go back and do same with Bluetooth Test.
Thanks, but that didn't help either. I found the culprit, though: the Walgreens app. When I force-stop it and then turn on BT, BT stays on. As soon as I start the app again, BT turns off. And I now see many other user reports of this problem, going back a couple of months.
It's annoying that without the user's knowledge or consent, Android gives an app unnecessary permission to turn BT off. What's worse is that there's no easy way to identify who turned it off.

There is an app in the store called App Brain Ad Detector.
After you install it you can scan all your installed apps and it will break down all permissions given to each app, show which ad network, etc. It is very useful!
Also after it is installed when you install a new app it will report if it does things not normal.. IE it would probably have caught that BT permission!

"Settings has stopped" and "Settings keeps stopping"

Hi, its my first time writing here, but not using this forum.
First of all, sorry if my english is not good enough.
I have a Nexus 6P stock, without root or anything. This week I installed Android 7.1.2 from google beta program, after that, I was having draining battery issue, so, I checked the battery usage and discover that the Wi-Fi never stop, then, after reading on some blogs about this problem and found that I should go to WiFi setting and disable some option in "keep wifi on sleep", however, when i click on setting key, always appear this messages "Settings has stopped" and "Settings keeps stopping". Things I did:
1) Disable Wi-Fi, try clicking on setting key - still the problem
2) Restart on safe mode - still the problem
3) clean the cache from recovery mode - still the problem
Any other suggestions without restoring the cell phone?
Thanks in advance

Hi... The gear icon force close... It's a bug in this beta version, nothing you should worry about.
However, I have no idea for your battery drain...

Have You tried with - Settings - Location - press the 3 dots - Scanning - And disableing everything there ?
So...if I can't access the wifi settings is there any way to disable the wifi optimization or otherwise prevent it from dropping a wifi connection that it detects has no internet?

Unfortunately the only thing that usually fixes that is a factory reset. And if that doesn't work it's a ROM issue. Even though it's a stock ROM it happens.
Your best bet is probably a factory reset at this point. Usually if Settings or another system app is crashing on Stock, something is pretty messed up. You could either opt out of the beta and it will wipe/downgrade for you, or you can download a factory image from Google and install it manually if you're so inclined.
I have the same issue on my s6 after it updated to Nougat. Settings crashes every time if I try to open wifi, no matter what. Already wiped system cache and started in safe mode, but the problem is still there. Has anybody figured out a solution to this?

I tried everything except factory reset, which I don't want to do yet.
I have this problem but I'm running Nougat on a stock "International" Samsung Galaxy S7.
I've tried factory resetting which fixed the issue for a while, but now it's come back.

Mi watch not showing info on device

Hi all,
I have a problem on a Mi watch, that all the statistics (steps, sleep, calories, etc) are showing correctly on the app, but in the watch appears as zero...
I dont know what is happening, or if is some permissions trouble.
Kind regards
For anyone who has this problem, It solves changing your time/zone and disabling the automatic resolve...
I got a Xiaomi MI Watch (global) aswell.
My phone is a Oneplus 7 pro.
I got no read out on the watch regarding, heart / o2 / steps / air pressure / compass
Neither in the app though , like something is preventing access to the sensors
installing a face watch times out. (except the < 700kb's ones , but only if I start the process right after it "synced"
tried the following:
permissions settings
reboot , resetting watch
reboot of phone
clearing bluetooth
clearing cache of application
"lock" the application
change my phone's timezone to belgium (manual) , no difference
No luck
I think it is eather the Bluetooth BLE causing or an issue in OxygenOS or the wearOS . or a stupid setting.
had a miband 5 before, but lost it / then stolen . Using the miband 4 for now
update, after unpairing and then put it back in the box. After a few hours, I thought I give one more try,
I noticed it was turned off complety, so holding the 2 buttons (dunno if that helps, it started again) .
pairing again, and I noticed I got a heartbeat, ... the o2 sensor works, all the sensors are working. did nothing on my phone. no clue what could be the cause (except the OS on the watch offcourse .... )
I have the same problem. I tried almost everything but gave up because nothing seemed to work. I don't know what to do next 'cause it looks like I've used all the options.
unpair it, let it stay for a few hours, then test if the watch is still 'on' or not, maybe the poweroff option is not a 'true' poweroff.
