Wireless Charging Vs Cable - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Guides, News

Heres what i have noticed now with 3 phones.
Using my cable charger i notice that charging to 100% then when disconnected and used as an example when it gets to 95% with the phone in screen on it is about 35 to 40 minutes of use.
Using my EFM Qi wireless charger the same as above i achieve about 20 to 25 minutes of use.
I noticed this on the Mate 20Pro, S10+ and now S20U-Exynos
Somehow it seems that cable charging provides longer battery life than wireless charging.
Weird.

[Q] Dell Venue Pro slow to charge?

On average, how long should it take to charge my DVP to 100%? I ask because I come from owning an iPhone 4, which charged rather quickly (usually within an hour or so). My DVP takes hours and hours to charge to 100%, especially when plugged into a computer. Is this a problem with my battery, or are they just naturally slow to charge?
charging from a PC is a lot slower than a wall outlet. I haven't noticed it taking a super long time, though.
Alright, maybe I'm still used to the generally-quick charge time of the iPhone. Thanks!
Charging from the PC you can estimate as being half as fast as the wall charger. This is common among smartphones as the fast charging needs more power to charge faster.
Your PC USB 2.0 port outputs 500 mA of charging current which is half the output of the wall charger.
Charging via USB takes a long time, no problem so far... but nevertheless charging with wall charger takes 3 hours and thats a very long time...
DELL Venue Pro 1400 mAh - Charger (max 1A) = 3h ?
and
SE Xperia X1 1500 mAh - Charger (max 700mHA) = 2h ?
i can't understand why i takes so long to charge the DVP.
Something's wrong with your phone then. I can charge my phone from 1/8th charge to full in just over an hour, maybe an hour and a half.
I was having all kinds of issues with charging... at work. I kept trying to switch between AC charging and PC, but I was using the same cable. And I think it may have even been the one Dell supplied me. But I had other micro-usb cables, and I tried one and I stopped having the issues. So if you have an alternate cable, give it a try.
Tried it, and you're right- the Dell one is definitely a lot slower. Charged probably an hour quicker using a friend's cable.

No time difference with quick charging

I noticed something strange the other day. I plugged my phone in to my Anker regular multi-port charger and the phone said regular charging 1h 15m to full charge. I unplugged and plugged it in to the Samsung quick charger and it said quick charging 1h 5m to full charge.
Is that correct? I was expecting quick charge to be way faster than regular charging.
(Note: I did not actually time the charge though to see actual duration)

I noticed the same. Only a minor difference of 5 to 10 minutes.
But don't know if this is normal, it's my first phone with quick charge.

What was the percentage of charge when you started?
Quick charge works fastest the lower the charge on the battery. The closer to full it gets, the quick charge slows down to avoid overheating the battery.

You SHOULD have timed it...I saw on mine that the time is adjusted several times and the original estimate is WAY off (in a case like yours by 15-20min LOWER).
I personally saw a difference (significant) between fast charging and normal, despite having a "normal" 2A charger vs the 9v Original Samsung.
Moreover, I measured with a multimeter (the cheapo ones from eBay, pass-through) and the current and voltage are as expected...9v/1.7A for the fast charger. Hell, even fast wireless charging works.
Bottom line: do a full test.

Fast wireless charging

Hey, thinking about buying the new fast wireless charger. Can someone who has a fast wireless charging pad tell me how long it takes to wirelessly fast charge the phone? Thanks
Mine takes around 3hrs to fully charge S8 from 10%
But I find out that wireless charging is much hotter than wired charging even though wire charging is nearly 2 times faster

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Nokia 7 Plus can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
takes about half an hour or so as far as I can remember 8/10
Charges really fast, thanks to 18W charger. Although on cable connected to computer, very slow

You compare 9v 2A(18w) vs 5v 0.5A(2.5W) PC usb? ...obviously it's slow with a pc charge

From mathematical standpoint 30 mins for 0-100% is impossible with 18W charger, let me make it a bit clear
It has a 3.800mAh battery or 3.8Ah for short, which means if it had a 5v 3.8A charger it would take 1 hour if the charger and delivery system(cable+chips inside phone etc) were delivering 100% efficiency. Now 5v 3.8A is 19W charger. For half an hour we need 5v 7.6A or 38Watt.
According to Quick charge which is present in this phone it can be charged at 9v 2A or 18W, so even if the phone has 100% efficiency it would take a bit more than 1 hour to complete 0-100% but because each system can't deliver 100% efficiency calculate to 1hr and 1-20 mins give or take
P.S. half an hour, wish but ain't possible unless we have 9v 4.2A charging with 100% efficiency(or 5v 7.6A if you prefer) - Still going to get this phone soon(if price drops to my desire)
Just charged 25% to 100% took around 1 hour
I have here the test i made 100% to 11% took 6h34m SOT, charging from 11% to 49% took 25 minutes from 11% to 82% took 59 minutes, from 11% to 98% took 1h36m.

Just got it yesterday...
Drained it fully so it died...
Then 0 to 53 % in 35 mins flat...
I think the last 10%( from 90 to 100} takes a big effort.
Just tested with LG V20's Fast Charger of 18W.
Fast charging works. confirmed.
But not with OnePlus 3T's Charger.
Will check the same with 5T's Charger and Update.

Did you try charging it with the Oneplus Charger? If yes, could you give us the result in terms of charge time and heating? TIA

Yes OnePlus 3T, 5T does not work.
Also I was charging N7+ from 18% via LG V20's Charger and it got overheated and started malfunctioning. But thankfully there was a circuit breaker and protection circuit in LG's Charger which saved it. Device is working fine too. Now I am using the nokia charger provided in the box as none are working.

So that means if something happens to the current charger provided with the phone, we will have to buy a Nokia branded charger and cable or there would be issues. Hmm

I am usimg my one plus 5T's cable and it is working fine...
I'm using an old HTC charger and a anker quick charger and all work fine.
Well, my Nokia 7 Plus charges quite fast but it gets very hot while charging. Today it overheated and started beeping.
I'm using original Nokia charger that came with the phone.

I also meet this using oem cable. With nokia original cable is no issue.
I just got this device Thursday not a Dual SIM device
It charges fully in about 1hr and 30mins of charging adds quite a bit of power to the battery
if we use a PC it takes ages
is it safe to use fast charge daily?
Can we charge the device by a standard charger having 5v 1 amp rating with the USB type c cable plugged into it?

Yes, i use mine from a tablet at 5v and 1.5A. You can use any charger if it is 5v or if it is turbopower o fastcharge.
I also use my old LG's charger. 5v @1.8A. Im not really that into charging speed. One thing i noticed is that on both chargers when reaching 100% it says charged but still charges for another 15minutes before the charging icon (flash) disappears from the screen. Has anyone else noticed this?

Choetech Wireless Panda Charging Pad Review

My experience with the Choetech Wireless Panda Charging Pad has been very pleasant. The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was how small and compact it was. It is about the size of a small glass coaster (9 cm across and 1 cm thick). So, for those of you who travel constantly, this will be perfect because you can just slip it into your luggage or even your pocket without taking much space. There is a green light that comes on when charging your phone. However, the green light doesn’t fill the room at night and is usually covered up by the phone when you place it on the charger.
Hooking up the Choetech Wireless Panda Charging Pad is a breeze. Keep in mind this doesn’t come with a 3.0 wireless adapter, so make sure to pick one up if you want to reach the full potential of this wireless pad. I owned a Choetech Quick Charge 3.0 (18 Watt UL Certificed) wall charger and hooked it up to the wireless pad. My charging times from 1% to 100% was as follows:
Choetech Wireless Panda Charging Pad
0 Mins – 1%
30 Mins – 18%
1 Hour – 30%
1 Hour 30 mins – 59%
2 Hours – 80%
2 Hours 40 mins – 100%
Choetech Wireless QI Fast Charging Stand (update tomorrow)
0 Mins – 1%
30 Mins – 25%
1 Hour – 34%
1 Hour 30 mins – 49%
2 Hour – 63%
2 Hours 30 mins – 91%
3 Hours 22 mins - 100%
The Choetech Wireless Panda Charging Pad worked flawlessly. My phone wasn’t hot to the touch during its charging cycle, which is a peace of mind because if it was it would be at risk of damaging the phones battery cells. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone. Especially those who travel. If you need a quick charge use a cable, but long-term and overnight charging the Choetech Wireless Panda Charging Pad shines.
I currently own both Choetech Wireless Panda Charging Pad and the Choetech Wireless QI Fast Charging Stand. Both are great products and charge flawlessly. The benefit of the stand is that you can watch movies with the phone in an upright position. However, if you travel often the stand takes up a lot more space than the Panda Wireless Charger. The con of the Choetech Wireless Panda Charging Pad would be that you can’t watch any movies while charging.
For those who want a convenient charger that you can just place your phone on without the worry of plugging in a cable, then the Choetech Wireless Panda Charging Pad would be for you.
Thank you so much! The charging data are so great! Did you charge both wireless chargers on S9/S9+?
Yes I did, with the choetech 3.0 (18 watt) charger. The panda outperformed the choetech stand by over 30 minutes.
