[HELP] Discover empty, in both app and launcher IN2020 - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello,
i bought a new oneplus 8 pro form tradingshenzhen.com EU warehouse, thinking it would have been the EU device
By the time i realized it wasn't, it was already shipped (from Germany to Italy in under 48 hours, amazing service on that side)
I received a IN2020 device, apparently already flashed by them with Oxygen OS Global 10.5.6
I have 2 problems:
- 5g gets disabled on startup saying it's not supported on dual sim devices ( i can live without 5g)
- googles discover is completely empty, both in "google" app and in launcher (i don't want a phone without my favourite app)
Everything else works
I can switch freely from EU to Global rom, so far i tried:
- global 10.5.6
- global 10.5.8
- EU 10.5.6
- EU 10.5.8
Everytime i wipe everything (phone boots ok even without wiping, even interregional flashing), setup hangs on google services "only one second/solo un secondo"
I tried postponing setup, on each rom, sometimes i get the message "can't reach google" (in italian), but not anymore on 10.5.8 global, but still no news or anything in discover
I tried resetting google play services and google app, clearing cache, everything i could find to solve discover issues on google search, i'm out of options so now i turn to you hoping for help before returning the phone
I included 3 screenshot showing discover on launcher, app, and app settings showing discover is enabled (and yes i tried disabling enabling both in app settings and in launcher settings)
I have the feeling this device is somehow "blacklisted", maybe cause it was first turned on in china for flashing?
Thank you very much

I wanted to add: if i go back to my Redmi Note 8 Pro everything works as expected, so i think there should be nothing wrong on my google account side

Another thing i noticed: i opened the app Xiaomi Home (to manage my webcams), first thing it's asking is my location and the seggested country was Germany, not Italy
Could this be related to google discover not working?

https://www.guidingtech.com/fix-google-discover-feed-not-working-issue/

Thank you for your reply, i tried all that and nothing worked, it was included in "everything i could find to solve discover issues on google search"
Anyway, i managed to finally fix it, i just don't know how

Cannot turn off WiFi, phone cannot find any network, imonitoring

Issues:
1. Cannot turn off WiFi
2. Phone cannot find any networks to connect to
3. It connects after a reboot but disconnects after about an hour
4. imonitor (system process) installed on my device - wasn't there until this week, or at least I didn't notice it
Rebooting my phone lets me connect to WiFi for like an hour, then the problem occurs again. Updating to the newest version of EMUI worked for a couple of hours. What concerns me as well is a system process I found this week, called imonitor. Some say it's not bad, others say it's the spawn of Satan. Cannot force stop this process. Malwarebytes found no threat, not even after a deep scan.
What should I do?
Is there a way to remove imonitor?
Edit: The process is actually called imonitor, not imonitoring
Hi.
I have same issue. First time it happend few days ago, started with full discharge by night and alarm clock didn't woke me to work - grrrrr!!!
In the day i noticed that it restarted twice. Since then I the same problem as VixaZ.
I dodn't install any new soft, only automatic updates via Google Play Store.
I don't have a imoitoring app.
This also started happening to me recently on my P9 Plus - I thought because I had dropped the phone (from a low height) just before it started happening.
Anyway, reboot into Recovery mode & wipe the cache partition only (do NOT 'Wipe data/factory reset' for now).

I have already done that, didn't work. But for some reason, after I reinstalled Google Music, I stopped having the issue. No idea how this works, but it didn't happen through the entire day until this very hour, so it might have been a coincidence.

Try going to Settings → Apps → More → Show system processes
Perhaps you'll find imonitoring then (I hope you don't)
I tried what you have suggested before, except since I have already had uninstalled Google Music, I just reinstalled it. And it worked, for some odd reason, for a good day.

Glad you seem to have sorted it.
It just happened to me again while I was using the phone for browsing via Wi-Fi - it just got cut-off for no explicable reason. Wi-Fi was still showing as enabled, but the connection to my router dropped. While doing so, I also noticed it simultaneously switched on mobile data. When I disabled mobile data (from the drop-down shortcuts menu), Wi-Fi immediately reconnected to my router - strange behaviour! At least I didn't have to reboot or shutdown & restart the phone this time to get the Wi-Fi to connect again!
I've now disabled Wi-Fi+ in the settings, which may have been the culprit - time will tell.
Same problem here, in a P9 Lite L21C432B380.
Tried the Recovery Mode + Wipe Cache option , but only lasts for some hours.
Sometimes, seems to recover with no extra action, but it returns to this undesirable state again and again...
Same problem here, but I have google play music disabled, and I tried already to disable or disinstall some other apps...
Hi
I was having the same issue, which I think is related to ongoing bug for Huawei/honor devices on Google play services version 12.6.73 (released last week). Read thread
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/79405933
and search for wifi issues.
I was also having the Google maps bug (no maps displayed in some apps like Endomondo, etc.)
Waiting for a fix, for the moment I uninstalled updates of Google play services and wifi+maps issues seem to be gone...
Az.
Trying this too... and crossing fingers!
Thanks a lot!
Hi all,
I have the same issue, after waking up the phone, wifi is turned on in settings, cannot turn it off. Restarting the device helps for a couple of hours.
I am on stock ROM with latest OTA, Google Play services at version 12.6.73.
@czlantian try disabling google play services update: menu settings > applications, click on "show system apps", then select "google play services" in the list, click on the 3 dot menu, and uninstall updates.
I'm now on version 11.9.51, I have a few warning (which I ignore) from some apps, but wifi is fine again.
I assume google will release a new version og google play services soon...
Okay, thanks. Just did that and now I am on version 11.9.75. Lets see how it goes...

Since two days ago tried this (now with Google Play Services version 10.2.98) the WIFI issue seems to have dissapear but, as mentioned here, some apps complain (PDF Viewer, Telegram... that seem to work fine, anyway) and others have the maps problem (Mobile Topographer, wich does not connect to Google Maps, but searchs points).
Battery also seems to last longer.
In the issutracker thread they talk about a new beta version of GPS, the 12.6.85. Just downloaded it to try.
Have been trying version 12.6.85 of Google Play services for two days and, at least in one occasion, the WIFI issue showed again.
I have found version 12.2.21 in APK Mirror and have downgraded to it: just Telegram seems to complain, but only when sharing location.

A40 missing notifications when phone locked

Problem getting notifications from apps (Probably may occur on other devices with OneUI as I found on S9 forum)
Issue:
Whenever the device goes into sleep (screen turned off, at least 10 minute period passes) I no longer receive notifications from various apps like Gmail, Whatsapp, Messenger Lite, etc.
Steps taken:
1. Device Care / Battery / Settings:
- disabled "auto disable unused apps"
- prepared the list of apps to be put to sleep when device not in use (the above WERE NOT included)
2. Device Care / Memory / Apps that aren't checked:
- added all apps mentioned above
3. Settings / Apps / Special access / Optimise battery usage:
- disabled for all apps mentioned above
4. Tested also the same with all "adaptive battery", "put unused apps to sleep" etc DISABLED.
Note:
Device is not muted and/or not in "do not disturb" mode. All normally working fine (up till couple of minutes).
Problem:
After couple of minutes I stop receiving any notifications....
Is it OneUI specific? Anybody knows anything?
Device is not rooted, not modified, running latest (11.04.2019) available stock firmware (XEO).
Bump
Hi,
Not having such a problem here,
With what you specified, i see that the issue could be in wifi settings, did you check if your connection is not stopped when phone goes in deep sleep? There's an option in wifi settings for that...

Unfortunately the issue is not that simple. It appears both while connected via wifi at home and also if connected to LTE only when outside.
Additionally the option you are refering to does exist in Samsungs Nougat roms but does not in Pie.
Well. Maybe the upcoming May update will fix this (I've seen on sammobile that this firmware is being rolled out in Europe)
As suggested by @dulemars on another thread I've tried to enable always on for mobile network (developer options - see attached screenshot). Let's see if this helps
edit: just tested couple of times, unfortunately - does not work
Ok - here's some more info.
Finally after doing again (for the 7th? 8th? time) all the above (including making mobile data active to always) and including Whatsapp, etc apps into the exception lists for memory checking and disallowing battery optimisations for them AND (that is the important bit) when I changed firmware to new update (unfortunately since the update for XEO is not available as for now, I've chosen to install firmware from another region - BTU) issues seems to be resolved (tested several times and well... I am receiving notifications now).
Firmware which does work is the firmware from May 2019 ( A405FNXXU1ASE3 ) but as I said before... at least for me - it requires some painful customuzations... which is insane... previously I just installed any messaging/mailing app and... it worked out of the box...
edit a day later: not quite working, still sometimes messages are not delivered ontime (i.e. with 20-30 minute delay), it is observable better since this patch but still not ok.
any clues anyone?
Since I was not able to resolve this frustrating issue I've decided to sell my A40.
Bought (again) new A40. And... well... no issue so far (but I have firmware from 01.07.2019 so not sure if this is firmware or hardware related after all (although if hardware then this would be quite weird).

Voice match / Ok Google doesn't work

Hello, can't seem to manage to activate voice match, everytime I try and activate, I record my voice, but the slider stays greyed out. Clicking it just restarts the recording process all over again. Mi 9t bought in France, french language and global miui 10.3.7 here. Tried no screen lock, clearing Google app cache, rebooting, to no avail... Anyone could point me in the right direction to solve the issue?
Same problem for me.
Uninstalled the updates on Google app and working for now, weird. Doesn't work from screen off though, but that might be a feature the phone can't handle?

I think the k20 series has the qualcomm wcd9340 audio chip..which looking at their website it says it has support for always listening wake up voice commands from when the phone is off..I wonder if roms could make this function work unlike xiaomi..

That also did the trick for me. Had similar problems on Asus Zenpad tab, so I doubt it it's a feature the phone can't handle... Or maybe can't handle yet.
Edit: Well, just updated the Google app and now everything is working - Voice Match turns on, stays on and working. Pretty sure this was a Google fix.
Thanks, that work for me too.

But does the assistant gets triggered when the screen is off?
And can you change the hotword to "hey Google" instead of crappy "okay Google"?
To me it works on lock screen but not on Always on screen. When phone is locked try press once power button and talk. To me works if always on not activated or when I press power button without unlocking
Worked for me but not anymore after update
It never worked for me until around maybe 1- 2 weeks ago. (I randomly checked it one Day and the option wasnt blocked anymore, it worked perfectly) but after the 11.0.2 system update it doesn't work anymore...
The option voice match is blocked again.
I can tell from the last replies on this post users were able to use it. Is it still the same case after the update ??
Sorry for **** english (not my first language)
I have the same problem, although I own redmi K20 pro Chinese version...
I had the same problem, the Voice match would start loading and never stopped. After trying all the available solutions found on the internet, I tried the most simple one. I simply changed the system and Assistant language to English (US), and it magically worked. The default language before that was English (UK).
So, maybe just try to switch it to US and then reboot the smartphone.
I have the Mi 9T Pro, EU version (MIUI 11.0.3.)

Wear OS watch will not maintain bluetooth connection to Mi9T

My Casio Pro Trek WSD-F20 always loses Bluetooth connection to my Mi9T after something like 30-90 minutes. The phone still thinks it is connected to the watch (eg, still successfully sends notifications) but the watch says it is not connected to the phone (eg, "disconnected symbol" is displayed, Play store on watch will not open as "you are not connected"). Restarting watch does not restore the connection. Turning watch or phone Bluetooth off and on does not restore the connection.
However, restarting the phone does reliably restore the connection.
Watch and phone (MIUI Global 10.3.12 Stable) are both current on all software. I have done a factory reset on the watch, and repaired after forgetting watch on phone, removing Wear OS app and reinstalling. Problem remains. I am confident, but not completely certain, that I have turned off battery optimisation for everything that matters, even installing MIUI Hidden Settings which appeared to let me do this for Bluetooth. My phone is not rooted, and I need it that way for a couple of apps I use regularly.
What can I do to keep watch and phone fully connected? Thanks in advance.
Had a similar issue with my Gear Fit2 Pro. MIUI kills the process maintaining the connection between the watch and the phone.
I ended up disabling the MIUI optimizations in the Developer settings and change the autostart settings for the "Samsung Galaxy Gear Fit Plugin" (that's the app maintaining the connection between my watch and the phone) to enable and enabled the option to let the app run in the background without any restrictions.
Here is a good information about this stupid MIUI background process killing and how to prevent it: https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-keep-an-app-running-in-the-background-in-MIUI
Good luck
I had that problem when I was running Global ROM. When I switched to Xiaomi.eu, the problem seemed to have gone away.

+1 to this, facing the same exact issue and fixing it temporarily using the exact method i.e. restarting the phone.
PS: I am using Huawei Watch (Classic/Original)
Same here with my Fenix 3HR.
I actually returned the phone due to this. Too many issues with too many apps being killed. And yes I did all the things that should/needed to be done to prevent apps from being killed. Too much work involved per app just to get things to maybe work properly.
Same issue for me using the eu rom. Clearing all data works without restarting the phone. Starting to get annoying.
I have the same problem as OP.
I had it with my Ticwatch E when paired with Redmi Note 4, while my girlfriend's Ticwatch E connected with ASUS Zenfone works great.
Now with Fossil Gen 5 paired with Redmi Note 7 I keep having the same problem.
Does anyone know if the problem happens with Xaiomi Wear OS watches or Amazfit watches?
I fixed it by accepting all permissions on the wearos phone app.

What else have you done? I also have a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro with stock 10.3.4.0 and I have the same issues. It is becoming increasingly annoying... I am desperate. Wear OS is battery deoptimized in both menus, set to autostart and still the Bluetooth disconnects after a few hours. It is pretty clear that the issue is after Wear OS, as Wear OS app is running , but the phone somehow cuts Wear OS from the internet.
PS: Also have tried custom ROMS... Evolution X does not have the issue, but has other issues (like the fact that Android Auto does not work).
It's fixed! I hoped the move to Android 10 would solve the bluetooth connectivity issues with my Casio Pro Trek watch but did not expect that it would. But it did!
I now have a Pro Trek WSD-F30 in place of the F20 I had when I first made this post. Prior to the Android 10 upgrade, the F30 connectivity to the 9T was just the same as the F20. Bluetooth connection helped for 30 mins or so after restarting the phone then 'dropped' (the phone continued to send notifications etc to the watch, but the watch displayed the 'cloud with a line through it' symbol to indicate it was not connected and would not connect back to the phone.)
The Android upgrade alone did not fix the problem; I also had to 'factory reset' the Mi 9T which is now at 'MIUI Global 11.0.4 Stable 11.0.4.0 (QFJEUXM)` based on Android 10 with the 2020-01-01 Android security patch level. My phone is standard and unrooted though after the factory reset I removed many of the pre-installed apps with Xiaomi ADB Fastboot Tools. The Wear OS app on the phone is set to have 'no restrictions' in Battery Saver and Autostart On. Otherwise everything is just 'as installed' and it all works well.
My F30 has remained fully connected to my phone for 3 days. WiFi on the F30 is set to Automatic and I get 2 days plus battery life (I only got this previously if I had Wifi Off). The watch is now behaving as I hoped it would when I first got it. What a delight.

I can confirm MIUI 11 fixes the issue (I am on EEA version of 11.0.6.0). Normally I never upgrade unless I have very good reasons so for the last couple of months I was using a partial workaround using Tasker to reopen WearOS and reset the bluetooth connection. But I am happy to report this does indeed fix the issue.... so for all of you reading this thread and having a Xiaomi phone -> upgrade to MIUI 11.
Many thanks grantem2000!

PROBLEM upgrading Lenovo Z6 PRO CN ROM 11.0.575 Active Wifi Launcher Network Mobile

¡HELP!,
Hello to All, in my Lenovo Z6 PRO I have a problem with my wifi (freezes launcher when is active) and mi mobile network (turns off and turns on every minute approximately)
My Lenovo Z6 Pro came with the Global ROM from AliExpress.
My first problem was with the calls, when the screen turned off when making a call because I cover the proximity sensor with my ear, the person I was talking to did not listen to me but my microphone did serve and everything since in the calls of WhatsApp had no problems. I don't know how much I did but I deleted a lot of things with the help of adb fastboot, I changed ROMs and unintentionally blocked my phone.
After so much work I managed to revive my phone with a CN ROM 11.0.575 but my screen freezes when my wifi is active and I want to return to the launcher by default (I had to change the launcher and with that it was fixed) when I deactivate my wifi and I hope For a moment my phone returns to normal and my mobile network
turns off and turns on every minute approximately (I have not solved this). I do not know what else I can do, I really like the phone in so much design, specifications, camera, etc, my idea is to erase EVERYTHING again and install something that does not give me these problems, HELP ME, PLEASE!
Another issue is that My phone is already unlocked, I don't know how I got it but I didn't even have to go to site "www zui com / iunlock" (so I don't know if I did it right but it already appears as unlocked) I know because when entering fastboot mode my phone says that it is already unlocked, but I reiterate, I don't know if I did it correctly.
Among so many things I did I managed to install TWPR 3.3.1.
PLEASE HELP ME TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM WITH MY WIFI (the one that activates it and goes to the launcher by default causes my phone to freeze) AND WITH MY MOBILE NETWORK (which is activated and deactivates every minute approximately).
Thank you so much.
