For some reason update fails for me. I run it from the file manager, it reboots and starts updating, but at about third of the progress the phone just reboots abruptly. Did anyone else have this issue?

I did it via recovery, no problems for me, try to download file again and then try through recovery it is simple

I just downloaded it again this morning and tried with the same method and it worked this time. Pretty unusual for this to happen.

notifications arriving fine

Ok but did you have the problem before? Because for some users there were no issues also before this update. Judging from the xda poll the ratio is/was around 50/50.

Then there was nothing to fix for you

Hey!
My phone is already rooted. How should I update to this version to have root and fingerprint working?

Did you update it? I tried, I still had the issue, did a full format and it is working fine at the moment. I hate the software optimization on this phone. It is just the worst I have used.

Serious lag and stutters afger may patch

So guys, all of mi user might have updated their a1 to latest patch and i was womdering that if its only me who has been facing issue like some serious lag and stutters ? Even it stops responding while using phone normally , although it was flawless in previos patches but this patch totally messed up my a1in terms of performance and battery, now.the phone feel like its a low end phone rather than a mid ranger.
I'm on may security patch and the phone don't present any lag or error as you described. Probably you need yo perform a soft reset after the update. I hope you can solve these problems.

I don't recognize any of Your issues...
Neither this or any earlier Oreo update/patch has caused any issues of any kind.

I would initially clean the cache. O does not have a setting to do that in bulk but you can use built in Xiaomi's Mi Explorer, MIUI's Cleanup utility in Mi Explorer, uncheck items you don't want to delete in bulk.

Yep I'm definitely experiencing this as well. I'm not rooted or anything just running stock, noticed the phone laggs and hangs on certain apps after 2nd May update. I've had to force reboot twice now.

Same case ! Facing all sort of issues after 2nd may patch !
Same here. Sometimes when using any app like Twitter for example or just texting the phone will freeze for 2-3 seconds and be totally unresponsive until it recovers. Happens super frequently and wasn't a thing before the 2nd May patch.
Well no problem here, running latest firmware (V9.5.13.0.ODHMIFA) Must be your phone. Try factory reseting your device, it may help.

I don't think there are firmware issues, I have no issues and nore do most people who have installed the patch, in fact most people are reporting better performance after the second patch, especially better battery.
It's not unusual for apps to miss behave after an update and clearing the app cache is the simple solution if you don't know which app is causing the issue.

new pie update 47.2.A.8.24

with February security patch.
new fix bugs?
What's changed, i don't know. Can someone explain?

Apps can now deleted from menu (earlier - only via draggin on home screen and then delete)
camera still works without drm keys?
sure
hello, how about battery drain after the latest update? I just saw a video recommending to do not update to Pie, because many features of Oreo and Nougat are gone and functions are limited, and a battery life is reduced. the review was made few months ago, though. are there any major changes with following updates? do you recommend to update? thank you.
Hi, what do you all think of the new Pie update?
What happens if, for once, there is a system update notification, it is being ignored and nothing done?
My first smartphone being HTC, then switching to Samsung twice, i don't recall getting system update notifications every now & then from the mentioned brands.
yesterday I have updated to this version via OTA.
today I notice GPS does not work (tested with Maps and GPS test).
does anyone have experienced this issue?
Not going to update my XZ1 to Pie. It seems Google has disabled third party call recording apps such as ACR within Pie. This functionality is very important to me in my work. So unless I'm going to root my phone in order to get around this I can't use call recording app. This is a major to me and many many others.

weird, I have a good precision (tested inside a building)

I got four darker spots on camera - two are darker and two are barely noticeable. At first I thought it was a hardware issue (dirty lens or faulty sensor), but I found, that this happened to some of the different Xperia phone users before after a software update. Can anyone else confirm that?
Just updated. GPS and camera are fine and everything seems really quick. Or maybe that's because I just rebooted and I don't do that so often
I can't use my device anymore, it's laggy as hell and so bad, that no one wants to buy it for even 150€

Touch is behaving weirdly during charging.

I am struggling with a problem, touch behaves weirdly during charging, means I am unable to use it if my device is charging, I have to reboot after 2-3 mins of use. I am not sure how many of you, are facing this issue? I am on v179 because v186 and v192 are capturing bug on every reboot.
I am even experiencing Ghost Touch.
It was an issue and they fixed it in 186

But v186 and 192 has another problem of creating bug reports on every reboot.
Though thanks for informing I would try to update and then check, if it works fine, I would stay with v192 even after bug report problem.

Don't know, but it captures a bug on every reboot which I guess is, because of patched boot.img, till it is unrooted it doesn't capture any bug but as soon as i install magisk zip, it starts capturing bug report.

How?
Did the update fix your weird touch behaviour or you did something else?
Are you facing "creating bug report" on every reboot or it has been fixed as well?

What other issues did you encounter ? Besides the screen rotation ?
I faced overall non responsiveness ( scrolling , typing ... )
So far I'm seeing a few improvements, speed is back up, the battery life has also increased back, the bug from switching to landscape is fixed and I'm still checking for any other fixes.

Totally sucks , the problem with me is that I recently bought it and I am not sure if this is an underlying hardware issue with this handset , or if the July update just did this as I didn't really use the phone before updating .
Anyways , I think the august update has improved the overall performance of the UI a bit , still some stuttering here and there though when typing and scrolling ...
Slow WiFi not solved. +/- 5 Mbps...

Damn i experienced it just now does that sound comes out of the speaker or the camera sensor I can't find that out ?
The sound comes from cameramodul and has do to do with the focusing-mechanism.
I had other phones with similar sounds.
So it is probably not a bug.

Android 10 - RAM management issues?

I've updated to Android 10 recently and, while I enjoy the improvements to the performance, I have been far from impressed with the phone's RAM management. Sometimes, the phone would just randomly fail to launch any apps. I would just tap on any app I want to launch from the home screen or in the app drawer and the phone would just stall. Maybe after quite some time, the phone would initially launch the app but at crawling speed and fail to completely load it. The only way out is to tap the home or the recent apps button multiple times. Also, when opening the recent apps view, I don't actually find the app that failed to launch in the recent apps at all.
Is it only me or is this a known issue? Will formatting my phone do any help?
I am having a similar issue. It occurs randomly, and I have to reboot to fix it.
Same here.
The only way to recover for me is to reboot.
I am hoping the October release will have a fix.

Yes, hope we get those fixes also (though only mentions security ?). I also hope the sensor calibration fix might stop phone waking up when in the car and we hit even a smallish bump, it never used to happen on 9.

Damn! I thought it probably would not be fixed as I believe we only get they security updates fast each month. We'll have to wait & hope we get the fixes soon. I haven't even hand chance to update yet! Lol
Sitrep: updated successfully to the latest update (October security patch). 41 hours of uptime have just passed as I was writing this and so far, I only had a similar issue with Google Chrome (failed to load any pages) but as soon as I opened the App Info and cleared 2 gigs of cache it went back to normal. Didn't get that freezing issue anymore. Looks like it was fixed indeed. Awesome!
I'll still keep an eye on it.
To my shock, it appears that the October security update didn't fix this issue. It may have taken more uptime to occur but it is still there. I think at this point I'm better off switching back to Android Pie custom ROMs.
October version seems better to me. Not as good as Pie but the freeze is not permanent to a point where I have to reset to recover.
Now, when it freezes, it takes about 3-5 seconds to recovers.

Not playing games. No audio.
Just in the midst of switching between tasks or starting a new app.
Freeze is less frequent and when it happens, the OS recovers within a few seconds.

Did you clean flash?
I had similar issues when I dirty flashed from P to Q.
Although there are defo some Audio HAL issues on Q as mentioned in a previous post, noticeable when trying to play music through the dongle.
Sitrep: switched to AOSiP 10 (20191012 build), never had a single RAM management issue since. Not sure if it's because of clean flashing the ROM, switching to f2fs or whether it's the ROM that has some fixes. But, well I'm a happy man now
