head unit Xy auto 8227L_demo - Android Head-Units

hello everyone, I have the following equipment
Android: YT9216BF_00007_V004_20191226
Android 801 GO
can pro 3.0 (8227L) HIWorld -04 ~ 07 Megane 2
DDR: 2G FLASH 16G
CPU: A7 1.3GHz x 4
Radio: NXP6856
MCU1: 3.1 (8227L)
so i wanted to upgrade to android 9.1 and if possible change the ui which is quite ugly and the radio has a basic and ugly aspect.
can someone help?
originally it was 9.1 but I did a system restore and it became 8.1.
before I had access to the engineering setup and now asks for a password I don't know
Best Regards

can someone help me please?
I have searched through the forums and there's a lot of information but I don't know what to do also because I'm not experiente in this area
What can I do?
Upgrade? How?
New radio app that also work on background off louncher
I installed agama louncher and dosent show maps guide in center of de main screen of louncher
In settings I can choose ui from 1 to 5, doesn't change anything loooll
I've seen that hare many variations of software fromYT9216BF_00007_V004_20191226 and after the yt9216 it changes, I've no idea if will make possible the installation or not.
I admit....I'm lost
Best regards

AT YOUR OWN RISK, you could try this package: https://yadi.sk/d/Faw1HGZrNCwMCQ
nitial firmware in which some of the sound adjustment functions do not work, even the activated hifi button does not work, the equalizer does not adjust the frequency of sound on the radio, partially compatible with the YT-9216 GU.
In firmware YT9213A_00005_V004_20191218_HIFI for GU 9216 / 9216_AHD / 9217 (2/32) all this already works.
I tried to leave it unchanged, but nevertheless, there was a slight modification. Namely:
TWRP
ROOT
VIPER
Radio_RDS from mclaught with the completion of the button background
Editor for radiomclaught
Window skin Settings
Skin window GPS Test
Returned the buttons and the slider in the "Sound Settings" section
Set the equalizer with the HiFi button.
That's all I ’ve done ... I don’t know how much more, unfortunately ))))
Things to remember:
Perhaps, after flashing, you will have the device’s firmware name changed to YT9213A
Immediately after loading, reboot the device
Sound on a volume scale of 17 or more -18Vol, has a slight "plug". Not critical for me.
After a full installation and overload, adjust the sound using standard tools (EQ, hIfI, Viper). I really liked the sound (installed audio processor CSC37033 and ULF PA2030A)
Skins from the stitched and working device YT9216C_AHD, under the spoiler.

I have version YT9213A_00009_V001_20200225, XY 3.1 (82227L), CPU A7 1.3GHZ x4.
See if I find out things like reset the device or update it.
I hope to find information to update it, the touch screen has phantom keystrokes.

Pretty sure it's the same as the headunit discussed here.

Fyi, you'll want a better microphone and solder it on

The stock bluetooth is locked down by the manufacturer. If you get a USB bluetooth dongle that is supported by the Linux kernel you will be able to connect other bluetooth devices to it.

No you won't, because of the hacked BT stack.

Yes you might be able to load a separate BT device and have it function with the hacked BT stack, but you won't get the standard BT stack. Period. Yes I have reproduced on my MTCD/E.

I am not exactly sure what you mean by functioning with the "hacked BT stack". Android is based on the Linux kernel and the USB bluetooth dongle is supported directly by the kernel. The software interface for pairing devices can easily be changed with apps from Google Play Store or F-Droid. I use my bluetooth dongle to pair to my BluDriver OBDII adapter which will not pair with the built in Bluetooth.
So, are you saying that I shouldn't be able to do this or is there some other point that I am missing here? Not trying to be rude here just trying to understand. Thank you.

What I am saying is that the chinese developers wrote their own BT implementation, the standard Android rules do not apply.

If you want detailed guide on how to improve your units, this thread will get you there: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...rp-brick-recovery-custom-ui-and-more.4184999/

What the manufacturer's did to the Android software was not done at the Linux kernel level. Yes, the default bluetooth software will only pair with certain devices but that does not stop the Linux kernel from working with a USB dongle to pair with anything you want.

I think there's a few neat functions mentioned: controlling WMP, viewing/controlling powerpoint presentations etc
p.s. someone should post this as a forum attachment without needing to go through microsoft download centre

Holy crap... I guess I really didn't understand what was going on as I stated in this thread, I had already been doing this kind of stuff using GoGadgets! from another developer. But now I get that its official from MS. They even took the EXACT SAME software that Ikanos Consulting created... sheesh.
Thanks for the video, I always thought that GoGadgets was cool stuff.
Hope this brings more light into this awesomeness.
I have already uninstalled it because I only care about anything "Media Center" SideShow. Haven't found one and haven't really looked for one as of late.
The T-Mo Wing is seriously underpowered but I was actually getting along rather smooth. Also using Bluetooth as the connection is sorta useless if you walk out of range. Which is not too far in my house. Connecting was fast and simple after the initial setup. The today plugin thing is nice but again sorta useless. I really expected it to have controls right there so you wouldn't have to navigate so many pages.
I know I am critical and this is the official first release and it is not even a finished product just a developers release. But it has potential.
very, very, very COOL!

Microsoft Bluetooth Stack.
If you have XP SP2 or higher its built in but if you use a 3rd party Stack like from toshiba etc. you might have trouble. you have to figure out what stack you have...

I went through a bit of a headache getting mine to work. Maybe I can help. I just need you to write in a more coherent manner.
I had a few issues too. If I installed the PPC component before pairing, the PC would not locate and install the appropriate drivers. If I paired first, then enabled the SideShow BT service, the PC would locate and install the drivers just fine. I tried this several times, and that was the only way that worked for me. Weird. YMMV.
It's annoying that all the fancy new software is made for Vista.

Alright. so a little batch of detailed insturctions about using this:
(during the process make sure your device is DISCOVERABLE)
1. It doesn't REALLY matter if you're using MS STACK or TOSHIBA STACK as long as there is a sideshow service detected.
A. if you have toshiba stack:
right click on the bluetooth tray icon and open the bluetooth devices.
add a new one and detect the service MANUALLY (choose CUSTOM).
if you see a service called "...sideshow..." on the list, you can use it. it is mostly UNprobable that you will.
connect to your device
continue to section C
B. if you have ms stack:
right click on the tray icon.
click options.
add a new device.
pair it using your own passkey.
open the options once more and you see your device in the Devices window.
click on it and click properties.
go to services and, if you installed sideshow on your device, and ran it, you should see Sideshow in the list.. as well as Activesync and a few others maybe.
click ok and it'll try to connect to your device.
(if you can't connect, go to COM ports in OPTIONS And install a new one. i used COM port 3..)
C. go to control panel, go to sideshow, and you should be able to mark V on the gadgets you'd like to use.
2. MS stack: double click the provided file. install it and read the TXT that appears on your desktop for further instructions...
TOSHIBA stack: just install the stack..
make sure you uninstall each before installing the other.
these are both the LATEST versions of both stacks: (up until the day of posting this message of course )
TOSHIBA STACK:
http://rapidshare.com/files/120186967/TOSHIBA_BTSTACK.zip.html
MS STACK:
http://rapidshare.com/files/120187911/MS_BTSTACK.exe.html
i strongly suggest you keep both files on your comp as a cover for any services one might provide while the other doesn't.
for instance, to my knowledge, MS stack works HORRIBLY with Async...
while TOSHIBA stack doesn't work with sideshow at all. (at least from what i've experienced)
enjoy

Has anyone got the Go Gadget Beta?
I would really like to try it.
I have tried Microsofts version, but I have heard that Go Gadget supports Home Automation.
Can it work via USB ?

Windows CE 6.0 shell question

Hopefully this is the appropriate place. This may be a dead end but I thought I'd ask. EDIT: This probably belongs in the General section but I don't see a delete or move option.
I have a generic Chinese headunit in my car running Windows CE 6.0 with a very limited shell running on it. Is there a way to force it to close out of this or load another on the unit? My input options would be Micro-SD or USB drive via the USB host adapter. I can't even load programs other than whats built in except for the GPS software.

No offence jwoegerbauer, but I tried ceFFM on WinCe emulator and after correcting couple of Mortscript unclosed quote marks, I still got different Mortscript errors which I wasn't able to correct in a simple way. So I didn't dare to install it on my WinCE 6.0 Chinese GPS tablet at all. I also tried MioPocket Mini from here, it installed without problems on emulator. So I tried it also with the unit itself, but as it is still quite bloated and slow with heavy Mortscripts and also the interface probably needs some better graphics support, it's not very fluid. I ditched it and I am still using the original interface, which is fluid and through which after a very simple "hack" of replacing some exe files and redirecting them through Mortscripts to run my own programs from SD, I can basically start any program.
I suggest You first point to Your navigation path configurator (every Chinese unit should have one) to "desktop.exe" (You'll find it in gpspassion.com somewhere) and after running it You should be able to access the WinCE original interface and take it from there. Also before anything else, try to find out if it is possible to hard reset the device in case You get in trouble (probably not) and if it has a persistent registry (probably does), in which case You'll have to be VERY careful about modifying the registry. For example, my device has a custom shell, so if I would try to replace it with original shell from HKLM\init, it would brick my device as I have read others with the same device have "successfully" accomplished. Most safe would be to continue to use the original interface, maybe if You need some additional programs You could launch the "desktop.exe" any time from the navi shortcut and run the stuff from desktop.
Good luck.
Just stumble into this thread
Actually my goal is to play (downloaded) video in mkv format so I don't have to convert it in order to be recognized by my Head Unit. But in the end, my Head Unit can play mkv file, view office docs, play game and has a customizable menu.
Here what I do :
I'm using Chinese Head Unit which the GPS files are inside an SD card. Just try to remove your SD card safely and copy to a folder (let's say SDbackup) in your PC/laptop. Inside this folder, you will find *.ini file which specify the path to your GPS problem. Open this file. Mine (maplaunch.ini) is look like this :
[igo]
path= mobilenavigator\mobilenavigator.exe;
iconpath= mobilenavigator\igo8.ico;
showname= igo8;
Then search for a PORTABLE (no-need-to-install) shell menu or application launcher, I use GPS Menu. Copy that portable launcher/shell to your SDbackup folder while keeping the folder stucture the same. I have no info about this chine head unit, Therefore I use portable launcher so I dont have to install and taking chance to brick it.
Then edit the executable path in *.ini file above to point at the portable launcher *.exe. (Mine become path= my_gps_menu\gps_menu.exe. I cand do this since the wince only lock the IGO map folder. If it's also lock the path above , then copy the portable launcher files into the folder path (ie mobilenavigator) and rename the gps_menu.exe to mobilenavigator.exe.
Copy the SDbackup folder to a new SD card. Keep your original GPS's SD card as a backup.
Try this new SD card on your head unit. If it's boot up perfectly, then you can edit this launcher to display your existing GPS apps and other apps. "GPS menu" has include some apps like tcpmp video player -which can play mkv & subtitles, music player, document viewer, game etc.(I guess the last two just for showoff ). You can also 'unlock' (accessing the wince desktop) the Head Unit,
Good Luck! and Sorry for my english.
GPS menu (by PEZ and/or SHANEA)
GPS Menu you introduced here isn't a shell in its original sense, it's an application launcher . as you correctly stated.

Yes, "GPS Menu" is an application launcher.
If this thread starter simply wants to load another program in the Car's head Unit more importantly while Driving, probably all he needs are another GPS, media player and bluetooth apps - with custom GUI/large buttons and perhaps voice (to tell him that he did push the right button).
Maybe he thinks he needs another shell for this. While certainly a shell can do it, a launcher will do it too, That's why I wrote "shell menu/apps launcher".

I was using Pez GPS Menu. You can google it or try googling "Pez GPS Menu filecrop" (w/o quotes).
I said "was" because for months I've been using iphonetoday launcher taken from here http://code.google.com/p/iphonetoday/downloads/list.
Choose the PND/Pocket Navigation Device version.
However, this only a launcher, so if you want to play .mkv, .mp3 etc you need portable wince apps which bundled in GPS Menu.
Other option, you can use Wolf NCU : http://wolfncu.ru/ for launcher
Or mix it together, like I did. I use iphone today launcher which has icon for Wolf NCU
FYI:
Especially for use on devices with little RAM I recently have published MioPocket Mini 4.0 FV. It's made up on iPhoneToday engine.
Im looking at buying one of thesefor my wife car, do they work OK out of the box,? Is it easy to put on the maps for my country uk?
Thanks Joe

Are these MTCD units?
Can we be sure that they really have android 5.1 and not just some fake user interface?

New USB DAB+ module / box sold by Erisin
Hi all, wondering if anyone has seen the new DAB+ module sold by Erisin which connects to the head unit via a USB:-
- sorry can't share link as I'm a new user but search "es351-dab-box-for-android-51-system"
They state that its compatible with their new Android v5.1 head units (see example as follows) as it come preloaded with the correct software:-
- sorry can't share link as I'm a new user but search "es4046b-7-andrdoi-51-car-dvd-gps-dab-for-bmw-e46"
Erisin usually sell Hui Fei type products but I wanted to see if retro fit to my existing head unit (I have a Hui Fei with RK3188, KLD 800x480, KK 4.4.4 and MCU MTCB-KGL-V2.55). Tried emailing / Skyping the seller (Erisin) but so far no reply. Anyone seen this? Know if it will work on earlier models? Know where I could find the Native App? Etc.

I don't clearly see why we should " fake" Android 5.1 since it is open source, freely available....furthermore, the DAB+ function requires android Lollipop. If a device comes with DAB+, you can know it is powered by Android 5.1
Also, the Android 5.1 interface is not really different from Android 4.4....

DAB+ requires Android 5 Lollipop. It can't work with former versions. Huifei also sells now DAB+ tuner for their Android 5 units.
On android-caraudio.com, you can get DAB+ with products XTRONS, HUIFEI, and serie CNY-**** as described here above ( in serie CNY, the DAB+ is already included in the offer, while for others, it comes as an option- And CNY is cheaper, as well....)

DAB+ dongles also work on android 4.4. i'm using it myself. For a good reception connect the dongle to an external caraerial. The aerial delivered with the product isn't that bad anyway.

Android Car Stereo 9" : support request

Hello everyone
I am new to this forum and i hope to find the support i need.
Last month I bought a 9 "car radio with android 10 (2gb ram and 16 + 64Gb internal memory) on Aliexpress.
The stereo is fine and it is very nice, but the operating system is very rigid, and I cannot do many things: it is customized.
Bluetooth is the first problem: it does not have a setting and it is not possible to pair a device with a PIN other than 0000.
I asked the seller (Ossuret) for support, very kind, but not prepared at all.
Furthermore, the initial screens and default apps cannot be changed.
On the card it's android 10, but i can't install some apps:
YES: TomTom, Torque (but without OBD2)
NO: Netflix (only an old release). Disney +
ultimately, I ask if it is possible to install a firmware that makes it very similar to an android tablet.
below 2 print screens with the main characteristics :

nobody can help me?
Hi! I have zsdx too qnd pretty sure this is android 8.1 (you can check it on aida64, the sdk version should be same for 8.1)
And yes there is no bluetooth settings to change the pin. So torque is no go via bluetooth, you can buy the wifi one.
Netflix or other streaming won't work in the sense that these head units don't have widewine support. But some old apks can be installed

thanks a lot for your reply.
i already know what you write :
- Netflix : i've installed the rel 4.16.0 build-15122.
- Disney+ : no solution
- OBDII : i've ordered a WiFi one, not yet arrived, but i believe will be ok because i tried successfully an OBDII with USB cable.
my request is, if possible, to install a different version of Android, in order to be free to manage it and install all the common Apps.
thanks again for your help

Hi Friend
i got the OBDII WiFi. i can connect to the stero and Torque can recognize it.
but now there is another problem : if I connet the OBDii to the stero, i have to disconnect the modem / router i have in the car to use internet (TomTom, whatsapp),
how can i solve?
thanks for your help

Parking sensor interface for head unit

Hi!
I'm working in a hack for a universal parking sensor and I have the microcontroller code ready.
I would like to know if there's some Android developer interested to work in this project.
I don't pretend pay for this app. The project can be open source or the developer can sell the app in the Play Store.
The initial idea is to show the sensors readings in the head unit to eliminate the needs of a additional display over the console.

This feature is available in some stock head units as show below.
The app should work in float mode to allow the user to place over the rear camera image.
Also it could work on smartphone like FenSens.
Also there's this project as reference.
I have published some information about the circuit for hack the parking sensor and a code for test in this repository:
GitHub - FernandoGarcia/ParkingSensor: Interface for a parking sensor with 8 sensors.
Interface for a parking sensor with 8 sensors. Contribute to FernandoGarcia/ParkingSensor development by creating an account on GitHub.
github.com
The final code is not available yet.
Basically the controller will send a JSON via BLE to head unit.
If someone is interested let me know.
Best regards.
This seems damn cool how far have your gotten with this?
Hi!
I have the sensors installed on car and the microcontroller is sending data via BLE.
I can see the data using "nRF Connect for Mobile" app running in the head unit.
Missing an interface as shown above.
Best regards.
seen your github page seems like your solo working on this im impressed how far you gotten.looks like your inching closer and closer to having something amazing
Looks brilliant, it would be great if the app could work with factory fitted sensors too.

Hi!
It's complicated because each manufacturer has your own communication protocol.
Best regards.
Hey @FernandoSouza - mighty cool project. Did you get it to work? I would try and replicate it once it runs reliably, if you permit. Quick question - many Android HUs can interpret sensor information that comes via the canbus, had you considered going down that route? Again: kudos for your work!
@FernandoSouza
Having been looking around for something like the end result of this, I would be quite interested in seeing what I can put together in order to display the output of your sensors, if you were still looking for an app developer? It's been a little while since I've done some mobile, so I'm a tad rusty, but if you have details of the message format you're transmitting, I can see what I can come up with for it? I am quite happy for any app code to be released under the same terms as the rest of the project details
This project is awesome! I've just stumbled upon this and would really like to help with development! What's the current status?
Hi!
I'm so sorry, I have missed some posts here.
@17sixa The MCU side is working fine but I haven't the Android UI for the head unit.
Canbus I think a little bit complicated since each manufacturer has your own protocol.
@Shojy the message is a simple JSON as you can see in green in this image:
Any help would be so much appreciated since it could be a kick to start the development on Android side.
Best regards.
Nice job.
Still, RFCOMM is the lowest of the food chain.
Maybe look into custom GATT and no JSON?
Hi @Renate !
I think BLE is cheap and simplest way to make a MCU talk to a HU but any more specific suggestion is welcome.
I have no idea about what GATT really is.
I'll publish the final code on Github so I can get more help to improve it.
Best regards.
BLE is fine. I like BLE.
I just meant instead of sending JSON over an unstructured RFCOMM it might be cleaner just sending GATT "characteristics".
Then you can "read" a value if you like or get a "notify".
Technically speaking, you're already using GATT. See that "Generic Access" at the top?
You save having to use Jackson or other JSON parser.
@FernandoSouza
Wow, that's just what I've been looking for since I installed my M700S. I will follow this treath. Unfortunately I can not help because I do not understand anything about computer science. Anyway thank you for the work you do and for what you will do
Hi!
I have published the current code that I'm using in my car actually.
It's available in this folder.
@Renate if do you have some knowledge about ESP32 code when you can please, take a look in this pieces of code and tell me what I have to change to use custom GATT characteristic instead JSON.
Best regards.

Good find! Thanks for the lead, will be interesting to see what units it is compatible with.
Keep in mind that units installed with canbus, this unit would take over canbus, disabling any factory canbus integration, such as heater controls.

Hi!
Thanks for your reply!
Yes, I need to work with BLE to make the APP compatible with any car model that has an Android HU.
The overlay is important to put the parking sensor interface over the rear camera image.
Best regards.
So far , from what i see , the speaker is also act as can bus transmitter to the android headunit . it connect via DISP port on the sensor box . My question is , does all sensor box using the same protocol when communicate with the DISP ?
Blue connector is to connect to the android headunit via CAN BUS port.
Yellow connector is to connect to the DISP port in the sensor box
I believe that the main box works as any other model and the buzzer can be replaced by a display like this:
The buzzer unit translates the main box signal to CAN protocol..
Each manufacturer has a protocol for main box that should be decoded as you can see here:
