Updates for MI 9T Russia - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Hi,
I bought a MI 9T few days ago from Amazon, I'm from Italy and the announcement said "global version", but I received a russian version instead…
No problems configuring it in my language and so on, but my system now is Android 9, MIUI 10.3.10.0 PFJRUXM, security patch 2019-07-01. No updates available, it says...
Searching around I've found that Global and UE versions can be updated to Android 10/MIUI 11, but there seems to be no updates for Russian yet.
Can you please confirm that?
Someon knows why (I don't think there are hardware differences, right?) and if the update will be available soon for Russian model too?
Otherwise, is there a simple way to force the update using Global or UE ROMs?
Or I better return the phone to Amazon…

Thank you for the asnwer, but i think the recovery firmware you linked is for Mi 9, not Mi 9T.
And the other one is the ROM I have already (but I don't know why the site says MIUI 11)

Sorry, yes, I overlooked that 11.0.3.0 is for Mi 9 (without T)
Then, you can see from that both sites that yours is the latest RU version released

Hi! I've the same problem that you have.
I've found the latest Russia Stable ROM with MIui 11, but still on Android 9. Anyway it's better than the MIui 10. I think we'll get the Android 10 version this or next month, don't worry.
Download (just delete the * in the link bellow)
https*://c.mi.com/thread-2930918-1-0.html

Same problem. Really odd

Ok, so today i downloaded and manually installed v 11.0.3.0, with MIUI 11 but still on Android 9 (as elstylon said) and security patch 2019-10-01.
That's the latest, at present. Hope To receive Android 10 soon...
Still I can't understand why RU models receive less updates than other versions, and always later!
(because I don't think there's any difference between Global, EEA and Russia ROMs...)

Same problem still miui 10.3.1
Hi, same problem here. Still on miui 10.3.1
Zelig where you got miui 11.0.3 for russia Mi 9t? From elstylon post? From OTA Update?
You update with choose package manually?

I've found the file on another site, but it's the same of elstylon post.
Downloaded on the phone, then forced manually update from the ZIP file.

There are no big news, to be honest, but in my opinion it is always worth updating, when you can (bugfixes, security patch...).

Even camera UI is still the same?

I haven't used it much before updating, so I may be wrong, but to me it looks the same...

Ok, just for information, I received an OTA update today:
MIUI 11.0.3.0(QFJRUXM)
Android 10
Security patch 2020-02-01

There definitely is a difference, the global version is pretty much worldwide, the EEA version is more more for the European market, Also is Widevine L1 for streaming netflix, Amazon etc... In full had. I believe the EEA models were created with the options to completely turn of ads and bloat, also complies with gdpr regulations. The Russian one I found really like the global but updates are much slower, mine came shipped with EEA. Also you can change this with unlocking the bootloader, flashing the desired rom and relocking again. Download all roms from mifirm.net

Conversion between RUX, MIX and EUX is posible without unlocking bootloader...
Here is Russian guide, use translator, is short and with pictures...

PS: soryy for my "super" english

Has anyone tried this?

I did it! I switched from RU to Global!

hi, i am experiencing black screen now. i updated my Mi 9t Ru Version around 2 weeks ago

a bit confused: which ROM ?

Hello,
My Redmi note 2 does not do the automatic updates via the updater app and I am stuck on 5.9.2 beta.
I realized that I probably do not have an official rom (since I have GoogleAppStore) and that might be the reason why the updater will not connect to the servers.
So I think I would be better off wiping and flashing my phone to reinstall a rom. My question is this: which rom should I install ? I see a lot off different stuff that I do not understand, Official, Hermes, Global, Xiamo.eu etc... All of this is very confusing to me. All the threads consists in installation guide and are not very clear on what are the differences between theses roms.
Ideally I would need an english rom, without the chineese apps, with the GoogleStore and that could be upgraded automatically without having to wipe the phone every time.
I also see that the 5.10.15/16 miui rom is running on a new version of android. Do I need to make the android upgrade myself or does it come with the rom ? Should I be worried about bugs, loss of performance/battery life with these new roms and android version ? What are the real improvements ?
Thanks a lot !
Cheers
Where did you see that 5.10.15 works on a new version of android? I din't see anything... I only saw that it changed the sign, that now is private, so we need TWRP for update unofficial miui rom (if we want gapps and multilanguage)
For the rom:
Hermes is the codename of our device. Our roms names are HMNote2 or Hermes.
Xiaomi.eu is an european translation site. It create a weekly rom multilanguage. From miui v7 his OTA update (yes, xiaomi.eu release OTA updates) don't work fine. Update manualy downloading the rom and then installing it from updater
Global is as the xiaomi.eu rom but it's official. There isn't a global rom for our phone yet.
Official. For now the official roms are only the v6 stable and the v7 china developer. Only chinese and english and no gapps.

The official Xaiomi ROM is MIUI 7 and it came out for the phone at the same time as the hardware launch. The ROM can be downloaded here. You can pick between the developer version that's updated weekly or the stable version that is updated every six months. I believe they come with Google Apps. The ROM contains the OS so you don't need to worry about upgrading separate software. You can mostly just read about the ROM's on other threads on forums (and I suggest going to the official MIUI forums).
To flash the ROM, you can download the PC updater as well at the link.

Hi,
First of all, let me thank you for your answer.
Does this mean I should install this rom ? xiaomi.eu community threads 5-10-15-16.28809
And then do my weekly updates manually by unzipping the files ?
About the android update, you will see in the second post on the link I just sent:
"[System]
New - Android version upgraded to 5.1.1. Please note that users cannot go back to older developer version after this update, otherwise your device might face severe damages such as not able to make calls (Mi Note Pro) (10-09)"

with luck the rom you have come with a update installer included, the miui france got one so they can update it really easily just by running the app,but it is french only. it come with gapps and i think all dev roms are rooted by default. you acces root permission in the security center.

for the non chinese the best could be a aosp rom without miui.
they are a lot more stock, you will find them in the forum if you want.
MIUI isn't better than AOSP and AOSP isn't better than MIUI. I prefer MIUI, another persons can prefer AOSP.
The best miui version... Global and Xiaomi.eu can be good, but the translations are a bit old (a week behind). All the translations community release a ROM that contain the latest rom with that language translated.
So for example miui.it release the miui with the latest italian translation, miui.es with the latest spain translation ecc ecc

miui is full of untranslated chinese bloatware and has no voice reconisation, limited hand free fonctions with bluetooth headset for example and block a lots of tweaks.
google now can be used but it will not work in hand free mode and you cant assign to a bluetooth or wired headset without unlock the phone.but the user interface and security is great.
on the other hand aosp roms have all hand free fonction intact with no chinese bloatware . but you will lose the miui avantages (the ui and security tweaks),aosp is very stock but you can add your launcher and extra apps and fonction like xposed (walkman/xperia stuff or dolby atmos...)

I don't see chinese bloatware untranslated... Are you using the chinese developer rom or a xiaomi.eu rom? And which language?
I never had problems with miui.
I don't need extra functions because all that I need is in miui.
I like miui style, and I didn't find anything similar to it on AOSP or CM themes. Or I'm wrong?
Ps I don't understand the launcher thing... I can also change it on miui...

i am using the french dev rom for the moment with included root ,gapps and ota updater.
well yes you can change the launcher in miui but it takes lots of ram by default,
the chinese browser, the mi market, kuaipan are bloatware not realy nicely translated.
the music ,market, gallery,fm radio, video and theme app have a lots of chinese unstranslated shop pages and those shops are not usefull at all here.
especialy the untranslated themes that add chinese part to your phone.
and to me the lack of hand free voice reconisation on a phone is just a killer .

in xiaomi.eu rom (italian language):
-Browser -> translated (and the default page is google)
-MiMarket -> removed
-Kuaipan -> translated and integrated in File Manager (so you can use only File Manager)
-Music, Video -> online services removed
-Gallery, FM Radio -> no chinese services...
-Themes -> Nobody translate the themes, only the official themes are translated
-Free Voice Reconisation -> Just install an app for it. in my opinion this technology is too slow so I use the keyboard
So, what is the problem? Maybe you are using the wrong ROM?

well do you have root?
my security center has root manager.
and as i said the hand free mode of most 3rd party apps cant be used in miui because it just does not allow to be trigered by a headset without unlocking the phone.
and as i am seeing your miui have lots of stuff removed.
does it support natively french language ?
i did not flash the rom myself,
when i purchased my phone on xiaomi france site,i
had this rom on it. i receive an ota update every weeks so i am guessing it is the most untouched miui you can get.
Yes, I have root.

hello i have problem i try to install this on my mix after i install a non global stable rom and i get this message now You are allow to flash newest develop version published by MIUI forum from stable versions only". so what can i do? or you can give fastboot rom to instal with mi flash? thanks

so i flash with fastboot a global rom and then try to install this but i get message rom is in beta testing make sure you have signed in with a beta authorizes xiaomi account what i can do?
Hope this isn't a rash comment, but this ROM seems a bit sus to me. It's not available via OTA and it's not listed on MIUI.com as an available ROM or Fastboot ROM... That and the fact the previous poster mentioned that it comes with a Developer version warning seems a little dodgy.
I wouldn't recommend installing any ROMs that aren't provided by Xiaomi directly or created by XDA members.

I really wish the mods would take this thread down. It's a link to a random website containing a ROM that according to Xiaomi doesn't exist, yet the OP is inferring that it is an official "stable" release...this is fishy to say the least.
Definitely install at your own risk!
I received the OTA upgrade, however, I lose my root access. Has someone successfully rooted the 8.5 version? I have Mi Max Prime.
Thanks.
Got the OTA update the other day, dont know what i was expecting but everything is exactly the same, cant tell any differences from M to N.
Also keen or re-rooting.
We will get MIUI 9 at 25 August.

Nokia X6, now 6.1 plus with SKUID CN, still on 8.1... shall I try Pie?

Hi,
I got a Nokia X6 TA-1099 in September 2018, with Custom Oreo Rom (locked!) and rooted.
I unlocked it, loaded the Global Oreo one for Nokia 6.1 Plus few months ago and prompted to upgrade to Pie 3.45 right after. Once I did it, I noticed screen issues (much large screens, going out of the edges basically). One of the members of this forum told me that this happens when the SKUID is CN instead of WW. I checked and mine was CN. The phone is also recognised as TA-1103 now.
since I need a locked phone for banking, certified etc... I downgraded to Oreo Security Patch August 2018 and locked the phone "forever". I then disabled the automatic updates.
do you know if newer releases of Pie (like V3.54H which I am prompted about) will "fit" my screen properly even though I have SKUID CN? Or shall I just wait for Android Q that perhaps does not have this issue?
I am worried I will need to downgrade and I won't be able to do it anymore.
Thanks!
The SKUID will always trouble you. Because starting with Pie. parts of the OS rely on the SKU to enable/disable certain services. You're better off with either of the two:
1. Be on CN ROM and keep your CN SKUID.
2. Be on WW ROM but change your SKUID to WW.
3. Stay on Oreo (bonus lol)
The broken Status bar will continue to bug you when on Pie with CN SKUID. Also, some system features will remain missing/broken, including double-tap to wake.
Hi
Can I change the SKUID to WW now that I am on Oreo 8.1 August 2018 patch?
I am not finding any info to confirm this, but I appears that Nokia is now allowing unlock.
I would like to:
- change SKUID to WW
- relock
- upgrade to Pie and follow all the future automatic updates
Do you think this is possible?
Thanks for your help as always.
Nokia does not allow unlock. You will need to resort to the paid methods.

A way to quickly update 9T EEA to MIUI 12 instead of applying step by step MIUI 12?

Hello Guys
I just received MI 9T EEA variant. I want it to update to MIUI 12 but i can't apply MIUI 12 update directly because the system version is old MIUI V11.0.3.0.PFJEUXM and i am not able to apply my downloaded MIUI 12 because it needs an updated software version. Bootloader is locked and i have to wait 7 days to unlock. Is there a way to quick update it to MIUI 12 instead of step by step updates?
Get thru the 5GB of updates just like i did, updated it from MIUI 10 (didn't check the version) to MIUI 12.. but did it step by step

You can try the following:
- Download the latest QFJEUXM (supposing you are on *FJEUXM = eea) 12.0.2 Recovery/zip package to your phone from:
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/davinci/
- Go to Settings, Update and tap seven (or so) times over the big 11 (MIUI version number) in the center
- That would unhide few additional options in the menu (three dots top right), namely the option: Choose update package
- Take that option and navigate to the downloaded zip package for 12.0.2
If it doesn't want to update directly, it would probably tell you (once, by mistake I tried updating from eea to global and it stopped me telling that it's not the right package for my phone), then I used the eea package and it worked fine (but I was not jumping from MIUI 11.03 to 12.0.2)
This method does not require the unlocked Bootloader (root, flashing, anything special)

Do you like Miui 12 better or do you regret it?

Actually i am AOSP based custom rom user but as i need to wait 7 days for bootloader unlock, i have to use MIUI and there are some new things in MIUI 12 and that's the only reason to update to MIUI 12. I can't say about battery life right now but the new UI is good.

Ok, I'll be on the lookout for a new post before you go to AOSP to see your final assessment so I can get a more concrete idea on whether it's better to stay on Miui 11 or go up to Miui 12 ... I've read a lot of bad things about the battery or lag throughout the interface. A greeting!

OxygenOS 12 on IN2020

Anyone got the OxygenOS 12 on the global version?
From what I can see only the India and North America versions are OTA and no mention of the global ROM.

As OnePlus doesn't always provide download links for all of their OxygenOS ROMs & OTA update zips, we've created an index to put the links in one post so that they're easy to find. Note: This is not a support thread for issues you may have with...
