Definitely has issues with 5 gigahertz wifi.
My V40 had better wifi performance.

Need I remind you that "bars" are completely arbitrary? Have you compared the actual rssi against another phone? A laptop has room for a higher gain antenna so it's not a good basis for comparison.

In intially had issues with the V60 I purchased through TMobile a few months ago. It would lock onto the WiFi access point in my basement and never let go. Eventually losing the signal as I moved further away and I would have to restart the phone to get the WiFi to connect again. I have a Google mesh network so it was only connecting via 5ghz. I got a replacement that did the same thing so I eventually moved to a different device all together. I recently picked up a refurbed V60 with more current software (I'm on the November security patch) and I have had zero WiFi issues with the current device.

V60 @ approx 20 feet with obstacles. Google Mesh.

My g8 in the same exact location as above.

Nexus 5x T-Mobile speeds

I have to admit, after ordering my Nexus 5x i was a little worried thinking the lack of Band 12 til T-Mobile/Google gets it sorted out was going to give me crap signal. Boy was I wrong! [emoji1] Obviously this is all relative to location, but I couldn't be happier with these results and willing to wait for official Band 12 support.

While I don't see speeds that high, I do agree on being pleasantly surprised with the 5X speeds on T-Mobile. I get considerable higher speeds than I did on my Moto X 2014, and LTE signal in a couple places the Moto would drop to edge. Considering Moto has a reputation for having some of the best radios, I was happy to see a noticeable signal increase with the 5X.
T-Mo user here as well. I have to say this is the strongest radio I have had in a phone yet. I even get a signal in my basement without band 12. Well done LG.
I´ve seem similar results on att. Much faster than any previous phone i've had.
It's also nice how the phone can take voice calls over LTE without falling back to H or H+. Can browse the web wile on hold

Has speedtest app been updated in the last 2-3 years?

H0tep, it was just updated last week.
I'm getting similar speeds on Sprint when I'm at work. At home though, i get about 1/3 that.

Well, my Verizon only gets 68.47M download speed. so sad
Since I moved my SIM from my Moto X Pure Edition to the 5x I've only been able to get a connection of 5mb down and .50mb up. Not sure what it could be

I have just received mine. Wifi and 4G connection seems to be poor, very low speed. In fact, my old Samsung can get 30mbps on wifi and the new V30 only gets 10 mbps download and 0,2 mbps upload. It is clearly a fault..... Any ideas?

No problems here on carrier signal. And that's running through Adguard VPN, so ping speeds are higher than normal (lower is better).
What carrier are you using? Where do you live?
I have AT&T Prepaid in the metro Atlanta area.
I also have no problems both with speeds and signal.
Got result of 376.78 Mbps /59.21 Mbps 2ms
Look good here as well

I had to RMA my V30 due to poor cellular performance. I noticed that it would show 4G, but not 4G LTE. New one should be delivered tomorrow. I got one for my wife as well and hers hit 20 Mbps without issue. I struggled to hit 10. I'm on MintSIM so while 20 is low for some that is their cap and fast enough for me.
delete please
I have really slow wifi even if I am a few feet from the router. I get about 30mbps or sometimes even 5mbps at its worst when my old V20 or iPhones could pull in 100+mbps which is the speed I pay for.

apples to oranges my friend your comparing two totally different wifi bands. turn off 5ghz on the phone or router and it will be comparable or better
Its doesn't matter. Both frequencies have same poor signal strength

I've only had it for two days so not terribly long. Have a 1gbs connection routed to a Ubiquity mesh network at home with a Unifi switch and PFsense router. No changes since the screen on my V30 glitched out two days ago with the network.
The reception I've noticed on both wifi in and outdoors and calls in the house (using TMO towers not wifi) has been demonstrably less than the V30 it replaced. Used to receive four bars for wifi outside and three bars for calling inside. Now it's two bars w/wifi out and one to nothing inside. I was actuallyy standing nfive feet from my Unifi AP Pro last night and only had two to three wifi bars appearing at 2.4ghz instead of 5ghz which I would normally get. No case on the phone yet and it's stock. Just my 2¢. Otherwise so far so good and I'm enjoying it. :good: Hope that helps!
The poor comments about the G8 wifi and telephone reception is what scares me away from the G8. I don't care about any of the other "negatives". But if the G8 can't handle the basics as well as the S10, then the rest of its positives don't make any difference. Is the G8 better or worse than the S10 at wifi and telephone reception? Thanks.

WiFi strength, range, and throughput

My last phone would still be connected to my wifi when I was about 40m from my home, whereas this one is about half that. Not that it's a bad thing as at home wifi strength is excellent and download speeds (I'm on a lowsy 15mb) are decent too.
I will answer about G8 Power, not G Power. I was a little wary before the purchase due to many negative feedbacks about the G8 Power's limited 2.4GHz Wifi connectivity. I must say that even limited to 2.4GHz the speed is not too bad. My home internet is 100Mbps download and 70Mbps upload, and even at 2.4GHz, the G8 Power managed to reach 58 / 55Mbps download and upload. Of course, this will depend on the router. In my case, a Tenda AC6 can deliver faster speeds at 2.4GHz even at 20MHz bandwidth. TPLink routers, for example, will have to be set to 40MHz for better use. The 2.4Ghz network range on the G8 Power is also good. I can connect it at a distance of approximately 24m with 4 brick walls as an obstacle, and get a speed of 4Mbps. That is, the same distance from the Samsung Galaxy A7 2017, which I used for comparison.

Something curious is that Antutu indicates that the Moto G8 Power has 5GHz Wifi. It is possible that the hardware supports it, but it is disabled by software.
i think the wifi 5ghz is disabled by software, because the cpu support this type of wifi.

A fix for that will be nice. Hows your coverage? I get less signal from this phone compared to my older Huawei P9. I have Tuenti.

I have claro, the signal is good, compared with my older nexus 6, is the same in 3g and 4g. but the wifi only work in 2.4ghz really sucks

Cellular strength and throughput

We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.

It's quite good (as I also don't need 5G, just few places are covered in my country), data speed is as good as my 5 yaers old Huawei phone, phone calls are clear. But I'm wondering, why is LTE signal so weak, at home I had full strength signal on my old phone, but Samsung A42 shows -103dB (2 of 4 bars).

I was thinking of getting this phone directly from Samsung (unlocked US version), but looking over the details on gsmarena it seems like it's missing bands 29, 30, & 66 for AT&T networks. Wondering if it's missing some crucial bands for you as well. Not seeing band 71 listed either (believe that's required for Sprint networks).
Edit: If anybody who has this phone and can confirm exactly what bands this phone has then please chime in. It's on sale right now directly from Samsung for another day and would like to pull the trigger but missing bands would be a deal breaker for me. TIA
