Nexus 5x T-Mobile speeds - Nexus 5X General

I have to admit, after ordering my Nexus 5x i was a little worried thinking the lack of Band 12 til T-Mobile/Google gets it sorted out was going to give me crap signal. Boy was I wrong! [emoji1] Obviously this is all relative to location, but I couldn't be happier with these results and willing to wait for official Band 12 support.

While I don't see speeds that high, I do agree on being pleasantly surprised with the 5X speeds on T-Mobile. I get considerable higher speeds than I did on my Moto X 2014, and LTE signal in a couple places the Moto would drop to edge. Considering Moto has a reputation for having some of the best radios, I was happy to see a noticeable signal increase with the 5X.

T-Mo user here as well. I have to say this is the strongest radio I have had in a phone yet. I even get a signal in my basement without band 12. Well done LG.

I´ve seem similar results on att. Much faster than any previous phone i've had.

It's also nice how the phone can take voice calls over LTE without falling back to H or H+. Can browse the web wile on hold

Has speedtest app been updated in the last 2-3 years?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

H0tep, it was just updated last week.

I'm getting similar speeds on Sprint when I'm at work. At home though, i get about 1/3 that.

Well, my Verizon only gets 68.47M download speed. so sad

Since I moved my SIM from my Moto X Pure Edition to the 5x I've only been able to get a connection of 5mb down and .50mb up. Not sure what it could be

Is my at&t data slow?

I have never been over 1.5mbps download on the nexus. I am in an unsaturated and smaller market it seems. (cant be for certain, charleston sc)
Is this speed normal? I thought I remembered seeing my friends droid on verizon get over 3 mbps. (although it was tethered to my computer)
sorry if this seems like a redundant question. I just want to know whether i should be worried given the radio issues with the tmobile version. I am reluctant to root it if I need to send it back.
If anyone can shed light on their experience with at&t 3g speeds that would be awesome.
cheers
gary
p.s. I used xtreme labs and speedtest.net apps. tonight i am getting .5 mbps. YUCK!
1.5 mbps seems to be OK, I dont know what they quote 3g at from AT&T (when I worked there they said it was 768kbps, but that was when 3g was first launched). In Tulsa I did 3.7 down, 1.3 up. Saturation and backhaul I imagine are the key factors.

Best I've gotten in Cincinnati is this:
speedtest.net/android/1860842.png
Kinda sad isn't it...? I usually float around .4-.5 down. This is even when I get kicked up to hsdpa. I hope Cincinnati gets gets better speeds this year.
Thats about what i get when im traveling through large cities on 3g but where i live there is no 3g only edge and im lucky if i get 40-50 kbps lol

T-Mobile is working to bring more backhaul and much better speeds to most of their 3G markets this year...you should definitely see an improvement soon.
I just did a test and best I got was 1363. That's on at&t in DFW.

Data speeds 3G :)/ :(

Mm well so 3 years ago I went to Verizon from sprint cause a phone that I wanted and data speeds and service in Las Vegas (north) sucked for.Sprint back then And I went back to sprint because their.service got cheaper and I.wanted the.hero (evo Wasn't announce yet) so anyway my friend got a Droid x and his girlfriend a Droid Inc and I got an iPhone 4( I hated at&t and don't worry I'm not leaving android ) I been running some speed test in android Evo (sprint) and iPhone (Verizon ) and the speed in sprint looks faster by almost a 1 mb almost every test but I ran the speed test on the Inc and Droid x and speeds are practicly the same on those phones then the evo, do you guys know why iPhone speeds are slower? Maybe the app was make in a different way for iPhone (the data package is bigger? ) because speed test on the browser are almost the same on iPhone and evo
Weird?

adblockers make your internet slower, not once a connection is made, but while trying to make the connection. Every time your phone tries to access a website it has to parse that huge hosts file. Even on desktop PCs this will cause slow downs.
So I still don't know what's making the speed test slower in iPhone 4 but in wifi iPhone 4 has better speeds in the same wifi network, maybe the app wasn't make the same

Low signal area question

I have a question how is the battery when you have low to no signal is it as bad as my one x? I am still going to get it no matter what but I just wanted to know

Nexus 4 is way better, i`am 12,5 hrs. off the charger and lost 24% with 1 hour of screenontime. Cell standy is 10% for me.
Well I have no signal at all over 70% of the time...

I guess I am the only one that gets no signal at school...

All phones are like this really, even with dumbphones. Low signal = higher battery use.
On that note, my N4 gets much better reception than my Galaxy Nexus ever did.
I also use Tasker and either a CM ROM or custom ROM with CM commits and have Tasker switch to 2G in places I am regularly in (like campus, it can figure this out by cell tower location or wifi proximity/connection), this saves a tremendous amount of battery.
The reason it's bad in a low/no signal area is that the radio uses more power trying to find/use the signal.

OK I will try this out. Thanks for the info.

Slow data on 4G with S7 Edge?

I previously had an LG G3 and in areas where I would get 5-20mbps download and about 5mbps upload, I am not getting only 1mbps or less on 4G with the S7 Edge!
I am using the new sim card that came with the phone, and I've tried reseating it. Wifi is OK, can't say anything for 3G or lower as it always shows 4G for me. All calls, text, etc work OK. It's just any data access is extremely slow! Speed test below.

No issues here. Actually at home where I am only getting about 3 bars

I think it's just Verizon. Some areas I get very fast speeds of 50-80Mbps, other areas it's dog slow.
I've qnoticed my s7 edge is a bit slower than my s6 edge. But there's an update available now. I'd take it, but I'm @ 22%.
im getting this aswell, coming from my droid turbo i get much better data speeds on the turbo rather than the s7
I actually get significantly faster data speeds than my note 5

Got this on my drive in this morning:

T-Mobile speed issue

So start off by saying I have the 10gb plan but I only have used about 1gb of my data . when I put my phone to gsm/lte auto my speeds are **** I mean like super low but when I put the radio to gsm only which makes it hspa+ its about 5 Mbps. So my question is why is lte slower then hspa+ heres some pictures with speed test of hspa+ and lte

I've noticed some LTE speed issues as well on the 6p when connected to band 4. Somewhat tower dependant as well..but anyways upload is often weaker then other devices including the 5x side by side. It's almost as the 6p throttles of around 10mbs whereas other devices get the full 30 Megs. My suspicion is it has something to do with t-mobile's configuration on their end and the qualcom 810 chip in the 6p.
In your case I wonder if you are connecting to band 12 as it has limited capacity anyways. You can check with the LTE discovery app.
