McLaren 5G keeping the 5G icon even after the NR signal is lost? - OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Questions & Answers

I live on the border of a 5G dead zone and I've noticed a number of weird 5G behaviors with this phone that might be inherent to NSA (i.e. using the tower's or neighbor's B66 cell for 5G piggyback), but only one has struck as me arbritary.
The phone will keep the 5G icon if you drop to LTE/LTE-A. Cellmapper is the only app with decent 5G cell detection and mapping that I know of and it makes a clear distinction between LTE and LTE+NR sites. The speedtests bear this out. Real 5G is 110 Mbps, fake 5G is 30 Mbps. If you connect and disconnect from wifi, only then do you lose the 5G icon and drop back to the LTE icon. You don't get it back until you re-enter the 5G coverage, which can be a few steps down the block.
I gotta say, the McLaren 5G is the Powerglove of phones. Stupid and badass at the same time.

Nexus 4 Signal Strength Fluxuations

Does anyone have a problem with their Nexus 4 signal strength?
I have Bell Canada, which is supposedly has the best coverage in Canada, I live in the suburbs of a relatively large city and I often see no bars at all. I'm sitting on my couch right now and the signal strength is ranging from -97 dBm to -110 dBm.
Do 2.4 Ghz band devices interfere at all? I have bunch of portable phones and 2 routers, so maybe this is related?
Nexus 4 on T-Mobile
I am in Portland OR in an area of good signal according to T-MO but my nexus rarely shows any signal bars inside my house. This is my 3rd N-4. T-Mo says they have great signal in my area.... so what gives with this signal thing?
My reception has been wonky ever since the 4.2.2 and baseband update.

I get 1-2 bars in my house usually between 95-105 db, outside I get low 80's and full or near full at all times. Even though my bars inside top out at 2 I have still managed to pull up to 13 Mbps but thats on a sunny day. Didn't see any results above 9 Mbps today. I live on the outskirts of a not so major city so I can't really complain. One minute I'm pulling 10 Mbps and the other I'm only getting like 200 Kbps though, but it's all good enough for what I need it for and I can't complain since its only $30/month. I just transferred from Virgin Mobile after their "upgrade" resulted in me and many other of their customers losing data for the last 3 weeks and to this date its still not fixed! Their "3G" speeds were atrocious, I've pulled higher speeds off of T-Mobiles 2G network.
I hear a lot of us who are on 4.2.2 and baseband .48 have had issues so I'm thinking its either a major software issue with the radio firmware that hasn't been addressed yet in any revision or it could be a major hardware issue as well as I flashed .27, .33, and .48 and noticed no differences. I had to set my phone to WCDMA Only to get it to maintain a good connection, otherwise HSPA/HSPA+ would just cut out after 2 minutes of use and revert to 2G or have no data at all for 5-10 minutes. After switching to WCDMA Only this problem went away completely and I haven't lost a signal since. For whatever reason it picks up more adjacent towers as well on this setting.
I have that kind of problem also though I notice it only when the signal is weak.
It goes from -99dbm to -111dbm with no reason. My other phone (Defy) keeps a good -97 at the same spot without any fluctuation.
I will try to switch to wcdma only.

COMMUNICATIONS: WiFi Strength, Range, and Throughput

The Note5 has dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac WiFi. Rate this thread to express how you think the Note5's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength.

I have a TMO Note 5 came from an S5 and the Wifi seems to not hang on as well for me, regular use is fine, but too weak for the wifi calling. The s5 didn't seem to have the issue. I'm going to hit up tech support and see if maybe it's just my Note 5. (I have seen 2 identical phones side by side but different signal strengths). It's only the 5Ghz though and doesn't matter which Channel.
Yes, the range, signal quality actuallay spped of wifi strength was AWFUL when I first got my phone, but a few updates to lolipop and it was working exccellent. Good wifi signal, speed and no drop out. However, Since I've been on Marshmallow, I almost see no performance change. That could be good or bad because I was expecting more on the more recent updates after Marshmallow. I have no complaints here cause I don't use wifi when I'm at work but wifi is awesome at home, the gym, moms house and every where in between. How can a big cell phone company make a phone that has terrible wifi signal strength and speed?
I've mainly been using LTE/4G as I'm on an Unlimited data plan but when I connect to WiFi the speeds are awesome and my internet speed is 100mbps and I get around 70-80mbps via WiFi on my Note 5. Strength is great also where I'm still connected at the end of the house compared to my dad's iPhone.

Nice to have an unlimited data plan, I just joined verizon a little too late to be grandfathered in. But it's nice to see the Juggernaught 5 is an amazing and fast phone

LTE Instability

I've had my opt for a couple weeks now and generally I really do like the phone. One issue that I'm having, that I haven't really read about is with my LTE signal. I have tmobile (usa) and admittedly I have relatively poor signal at home (-109dBm to -114dBm). I notice that every so often my LTE signal drops out completely and I get no data. At my work where I have excellent signal I don't have any issues. I've had several phones including the Oneplus One and I've never had problems with the signal dropping completely out like it does with the opt. Does anyone else have this issue? Are there any radios to try yet? or maybe just wait for a future update that might stabilize the radio? It's not a huge issue as I'm just using wifi at home most the time.
My receptiin seems bad. im in uk. Always 2 bars at house. Op2 always shows 0 99% of time in the indicator. however a signal app always says 28-35% signal. Wifi poor as well - massive drop of speed every couple of steps away from router
Are you using any apps to verify LTE signal and band?
I use LTE discovery.

Does your device allow LTE Discovery to continuously update it's signal data? I have to kill the app for it to change what it displays.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

Weak cellular signal strength

What do you guys think about the cellular strength. Mine loses lte signal and switches to 3g where my other devices keep the lte signal (with reasonable speed). It's about 5-15 dbm more than the other phones. The 3g signal is good tho.
I also experienced this, wanna know is this normal or my phone is defective.
Haven't noticed a difference myself but I have only had the phone for a couple of weeks now. I also flashed to the UK firmware and live in a major metro area . Oddly enough my house is always a dead spot no matter what phone I use. The Tmobile 4G LTE Cellspot fixes that for me at home though so I can't really comment otherwise.

Cellular strength and throughput

We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the LG V60 ThinQ's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.

It seems to operate on 5G at my house. I haven't really went anywhere because it is best to stay home these days. I get about 120/18 at home. I was getting 85/15 on 4G
With those speeds it sounds like the towers are installed in your back yard???
I notice poor wifi signal on 5ghz. I get like 1-3 bars. On my laptop I get 4 to 5.
Cellular strength seems to be a week point of LG. I had low reception on my V20, and still have it with the V60.

I second this
Definitely seeing worse wifi reception than I was getting in my 6t
I've had no issues with either the 4G LTE or the WiFi at home.
My city has 5G coverage, and I'm literally ringed by 5G on three streets neighboring my own. But alas, I live on a 4G peninsula surrounded by a sea of 5G. Hopefully, my street gets it sooner rather than later.
That said, I'm working from home (and under constant WiFi), and were I able to commute into NYC where I would normally be working, I'd have way more opportunities to test the 5G.
THAT said, my home is blanketed by WiFi coverage provided by a mesh router system, so that probably explains why I'm not experiencing any issues.
Most certainly, nothing about this phone so far lacks in comparison to my venerable but now retired LG V30+.
