Great news. Hope they live up to their statement. As that is the only hope since custom ROM dev scene here is very slow to respond to such device of great caliber! Still we are nowhere close to single custom ROM released!

Seems, they have already stepped back from what they said before and now give no clear ETA or tell about June release. I don't think they would be able to release it by May or June even! We need community devs to step forward and rescue our devices!

bro we are not having proper kernel sources so its not possible for making cm11 for our devices..

Yes the kernel has some problem..phone boots with black screen...burakgon is contacting gionee for help....

How about burakgon posting general mobile ROM for us to flash? At least a change of taste would be good, quite bored now with this Amigo!

I heard that it is a stock vanilla rom. I so want the stock experience on my phone. I just love the vanilla look. Simplicity and speed.

Gionee India Today Posted on FB that Kitkat for E7 is not yet stable due to some technical issue but hey we are going to get
kitkat eventually
PS: there would be no vanilla Kitkat there would be Amigo on top of it
UPDATE: There is beta version of amigo 2.4 avilable on amigo website If someone want to give this a try

I think they have denied to provide E7 Kitkat update any soon now on many recent posts on FB. They were first promising it and now this lame excuse! Anyways, this is my last phone from Gionee and would never ever trust any CHEAP chinese brand. Yes, they are cheap in their promises! It's worth spending money on Google device or Samsung high end, at least they remain true to their word mostly!

well the official cyanogenmod devs are working on it afaik. No eta. just search the forums you are gonna find it relatively quick in general and android development (hint: recovery)

HTC's "Official" stance has pretty much always been that when they release a new device, that device will continue to receive updates for a period of 2 years; after the 2 years is up, it will no longer receive software updates, unless it happens to be something like a major hot-fix.... Being that the Bolt was just released in November of 2016, I think it's pretty safe to say we'll be seeing Android O / 8 .
As a matter of fact, the HTC Bolt was actually one of the very 1st devices to be released on the market running Android Nougat/7.0, if not THE 1st, other than the Pixel... I got mine the very day it was available at my sprint store, and from what I remember, the Pixel was barely available at that point, if AT ALL...

It should. Hopefully we get it faster this time. Google made 8.0 more update friendly with faster updates and more carrier friendly also.

Of course you are right.
I just see the development section here for the device, it's like a desert. The M8 already has Android 8.1 custom rom/s, while the 10 evo still with stock 7.0

Yep I have an mod stockish rom for the bolt it's 7.1.2 it an multi rom I will have to give u a link if u want to try it

i have BOLT SPRINT. no logos but HTC US told me so from the IMEI. I used the HTC stock rom but it was older than the one that was on the phone '.the phone was rooted originally.

[ROM REQUEST] Android GO 8.x.x (SM-J320F/FN)

Hi there, Debla here
This is my first threat on xda so don´t expect it to be perfect
So I saw about 1 month ago that Android GO came out for future and current devices (That does not count ports).
And as you know that Android GO was made for not so powerful devices, for example, The Nokia 1.
So I thought: maybe someone will port it to the J3 (2016) (It's still my current device)
Well yeah its good for its price (I paid 125$ for it)
But I had a cheaper phone that was better than my current phone.
But I think that Android GO would run maybe better on it than stock!
But the only problem was ... I'm not a dev. of any kind.
So I made this post to ask if it would be possible!

PPSS: If oreo isn't possible maybe we can find an alternative (modifying, for example, OctOS to make it as close as possible to Android GO)

a few developers actually tried porting Oreo a while back, actually got to the point of building it, however apparently our device has some kind of restriction in place so only lollipop-Nougat will boot, until that restriction is broken there can be no oreo, though thanks for posting this, perhaps some intrest is all thats needed to start some developer cracking this restriction, but at the moment I think our best bet for getting an up to date OS is porting Sailfish

I would but I have bad news.. sadly, I'm leaving the SpreadTrum platform and migrating to Qualcomm. It was a good run but it won't continue. Good luck with the development of j3!

that'd be near impossible, for one sailfish just isn't android, but foe two the conpatabilty laywr won't work on ported devices, you'd need to port some kind of android chroot (I forget what its called) which is near impossible due to processor differences and even if you could port it it would drain the battery and give horrible system performance, this device may be able to run vanilla sailfish and not much else

I don't know for sure but I belive sailfish ports run android first ghen boot sailfish, so even with our locked processor it should work...

How about we/me/someone will modify a nougat rom that it almost looks like android go?
