S10+ G975: DRM Info says Widevine L1, Netflix says Widevine L3 and limited to SD - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

My model was upgraded to Android 10 yesterday, but I already had this problem before.
I didn't root my device, I'm using the OS as it came installed and (AFAIK) I didn't make any relevant changes as I've only had the phone for a couple of months.
So my problem is the DRM Info app says I have Widevine L1 (though no HDR functionality?!), but then in Netflix's "Playback Specification" screen it says Widevine L3 and SD as maximum playback resolution.

Because of this, I can't seem to play Netflix HD videos on my phone. Which is a bother because even for the small-ish 6.4" screen those 480p are really starting to show their age.
And I do have the Netflix 4K plan.
Another interesting tidbit is the Amazon Prime Video app lets me play videos in 1080p (making it a big difference in quality to netflix videos).
The only thing out of the ordinary that I remember is manually installing a couple of games through an apk, as they're from humble bundle.
Any help here? Should I try to contact netflix? Reinstall the app in some specific way?

[Q] Repairing corrupted MP4 vids?

So after I installed Android 2.1, all vids I had recorded were corrupted. Entire sections of the video are missing and the images are scrambled. Do you guys know if there is a way to repair the videos? These are very important memories to me so any help is appreicated. Screen shot of video below:

2.1? You mean 2.2 right? But anyways enough of little details, was this recorded in 720p mode/resolution? That would explain that horrible quality as the hd2 can't record 720p with android as of yet.
Either way i don't think there is a way to fix a video recorded badly/corrupted.
Well if it was android 2.1, that might explain the badly recorded video also, as eclair roms only came out at the start of android development for the hd2 so that would explain the badly recorded video as android in that time was still immature for us.
I used HD Video Repair Utility
This tool worked for me on a HD2 running HyperDroid CyanogenMod. The free version only restores half of the clip, though.

ANDROID TV OUT, How do i play games on my tv?

I recently say a you tube vid of someone playing android games on a big screen hd tv, with the atrix, my question is how do I do this? I have searched high and low but dont see how, my android just displays a motorola logo on my tv when I hook up the hdmi...
Its called hdmi mirroring. Both greyblur and gingerblur have this feature, if I remember correctly. But I believe it only works in portrait, not landscape.

Tried this just now with Gblur. Used webtop mode and played a game, okay a few games, of Angry Birds on the tv. It does work in ladscape. Double tap and hold to pull the bird back. Just awesome. I did not try the hdmi mirroring. Maybe later..
Heres a pic. Bad quality from low lighting taken w Cap.

Forcing YouTube to offer Cardboard viewing mode option (or alternative?)

The YouTube app won't offer its "VR" mode for side-by-side viewing of ordinary 2D YT videos unless it believes you have a fully Cardboard compatible phone. While it's possible to sideload the Google Cardboard app, this does not solve the problem with YouTube. The issue is that a phone without compass and/or gyro (so, officially "not Cardboard compatible") is still completely capable of playing 2D YT videos through a Cardboard-type headset -- IF YT could be forced to offer the "Cardboard" viewing option to enable the split display. Does anyone know of a practical way to force this? Alternatively, is there a 3rd party app for doing this with YT videos that would actually work properly on the kind of phone under discussion? All the ones I've found so far that purport to do this are junk and don't really work. Thanks.
If the problem as I understand it is just playing the normal youtube videos in vr mode like this :

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
AND... if your android is 5.0 or higher, then "NOMone VR Broswer" (a free app on Google Play) solves the problem very well :good: .

Install apps of unknown sources

In my shield pro 2019 there is no switch visible to allow the installation of apps of unknown sources.
I have developer options enabled already.
How can I install apps of unknown sources?
Can you just install filelinked? I've got most my apps using it
I'm late, but it is Settings - Device Preferences - Security & restrictions - Unknow sources
Sent from my Nord using XDA Labs
I've tried to use web download on the Analiti app by accessing apkpure and bringing up an app I have on other android devices. It will not download then I found that BlueMail and Filelinked are "not compatable" from Nvidia yet watched videos on YouTube that were made up to just a couple months ago showing this being done. The only thing I can think of is firmware upgrade 8.2.1 as of 11/16 is what is causing this. I'm wondering myself if there is a workaround or how to downgrade back to the last firmware if anyone has any input on this?
Looks like the Shield TV is locked down like chastity belt, going to be returning mine back to Best Buy. What a rip, considering Fire TV cube is half the price.
At least 8.2.2 installs from unknown sources fine.
