Usb symbol and device descriptor request failed - Zenfone 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just found the T00J in my drawer and tried to power it on. The only thing that shows up is a USB symbol with white bar changing to red after some time. When I check the devmgmt it shows up as "Unknown Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". Tried some ways to fix the descriptor problem but nothing works. Is there any chance of getting this phone back to life again ?

Unbrick/flash asus zenfone
1. Make sure you install all the drivers of ASUS in your PC first.
2. Install & open ASUS FLASH TOOL v1.0.x on your PC and select your device model.
3. You should now boot into fastboot by holding power button + volume up/down button which ever works for you.
4. After you boot into bootloader/fastboot mode connect your phone to pc and open ASUS FLASH TOOL.
5. Your device should now show up below with its serial number and state icon coloured blue.
6. Locate firmware raw/zip file which you can find on the internet depending on your device version by some googling.
7. Click on Start and wait for some time to flash and wait for reboot process to complete.

On Windows 10 it should work perfectly.
Flashtool still works anyway
I had this error a while ago, when i ridiculously messed up my phone having the "security boot error" (something like that).
I tried in so many ways flash the KDZ of stock ROM in flash tools, but it was like my pc didnt reconigzed my phone, so it only stayed at 0% on the download mode...
the way i found to finally fix my phone was installing and using the program called "LG MOBILE SUPPORT TOOL", where i pressed the button called "flash usb drivers". So after flashing the drivers by this program, i could flash the ROM w/ the mobille support tool.
Dont know if this helps, dont know if you can't even boot your phone, but that was my experience with that error you're showing!

MTP not working

Hi,
im using latest official AICP. Others told me that MTP is working on that ROM.
I tried with USB Debugging and without. When USB Debugging is enabled adb devices doesnt detect the device and there is no notification to allow on the device.
In the device manager it looks like this:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(And yes i changed charge my device to transfer files xD)
MTP in TWRP is working fine but i dont want to restart in recovery every time i want to transfer files ^^
Can someone help?
Problem solved.
If anyone else have this issue:
Uninstall Clockwordmod ADB Drivers + Google Drivers + OnePlus Drivers. -> devmgmt.msc -> right click on device (seen at my first post) uninstall device -> tick the checkbox -> ok -> install oneplus drivers -> plug in device again and set to transfer files

Galaxy s7 edge G935F not recognized by Windows 10 in downloading mode

Heyya!
All this happened after I uninstalled Magisk through the manager, just clicking uninstall. It loaded the script and rebooted and I went in a boot-loop directly.
I tried to boot it through boot mode to flash a new stock ROM but the computer didn't want to recognize the phone in there.
In device manager the phone recognizes as Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).
Description in general properties:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
A request for the USB device descriptor failed.
I have tried different ports, different cables and re-installing the driver sometimes. Doesn't work.
One thing is the phone get recognized as normal when I boot it through TWRP, it shows up as normal on the computer.
I think I have put everything up there, will edit if I come up with more information.
Anyone got any tip what to do? With regards Brachii

*EDIT*: I got it working now by factory resetting sometimes and directly go into the download mode and apparently that made Odin okay with it and noticed the phone. I gonna leave this thread here if someone else
got the same problem and can find this helping.

Fastboot is not working but adb is fine.

Hello everyone. I have my asus zenfone max pro m1 and I want to install a custom rom in it, which requires me to go to fastboot.
I have followed a post on xda forum about it.
I have unlocked my bootloader.
installed adb and fastboot (platform tools).
enabled usb debugging and allowed my pc.
Now when give the command for adb devices, it shows me the attached device. Then i give the command "adb reboot bootloader" and it works perfectly and I enter fastboot on my device.
But as soon I give command fastboot devices the fastboot menu in my phone changes to small font saying "press power button to shutdown" . But when I restart my PC and do it all again, the first time when I
give the command for fastboot devices it shows me my device , but second time onwards it shows "??????? fastboot" and again the same small font message is shown. I have attached screenshot of my CMD for better illustration. Please help me regarding this . Thank you.
