3yrs switch - Realme X2 pro ? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hey,
I do not know that this I right place but I've got a question - dou you think that freshly released Realme X2 Pro would be a good switch from Axon 7 ? I know that I will miss high res screen but overall Realme spec is imo not that bad - 855+, up to 12/256, stereo with Dolby, 3,5mm Dolby (dual driver), 64mpx main camera, FHD+ 90hz amoled hmm... and awesome price of 399€ base (6/64) 499€ (12/256). Also good to mention that base model got only UFS 2.0 and models with 8/12 ram got UFS 3.0.
What are your thoughts ? Really appreciate for any help and maybe any other phones ? (Stereo is a need for me cuz I'm watching a loot videos on my phone), also a price not higher than 600€ would be awesome.

Other than price, I like my work Galaxy S10e. Lucky I didn't pay for it. It's a good phone.
Realme sounds like it could be an interesting one to try.

Buy or not Meizu M5 PRO? Or rather a Nexus 6P?

Meizu 5 Pro has best processor of Android (Exynos 7420), sd card, nice AMOLED screen with 1080P, great battery (4th on battery life tests this year), and great price also (450 Euros).
But is Meizu....
¿Do you think is a good buy?
Or would be better a Huawei 6P with
Google support for two years and stereo speakers
Better camera and screen
but
Worse battery and processor
No sd
More expensive (200 euros more)
¿Does Meizu give software support with latest Android? ¿Which one you prefer? (you can put other smarthphones on the equation also)
I want to answer your question by comparing both phones in each category.
Design:
I started with design part because, for me it's very important part. I like meizu pro 5 design much more than 6p not saying 6p is not good but, 2.5D glass with looking similar to Iphone in front is not a bad thing in meizu and better than 6p here. I prefer Fingerprint as a home button on meizu at the front much more than in 6p at the back. ( Not to mention how innovative home button of meizu will change the way of using this phone when you getting used to it and you cannot compare it with any other android phone). Also design of meizu at the back is also more beautiful in my opinion as it's a little similar to htc one series. Also 10g less weight in meizu should be a little more suitable in hand.
Camera:
About camera in meizu it does pretty decent job in good light maybe even better than 6p specially better in detail comparison but, in low light you should either use manual mode or accept quality of auto mod which is not bad but, differently 6p is better but, not much better.
Selfie with front camera is definitely better (more detail) in 6p but, for internet both do good job here.
Processor:
The main problem in 6p is qualcomm 810 processor which is a big no for me specially compare to Exynos 7420 which is arguably the best in the market for now (even compare to karin 950) and you will never feel a hot phone in your hand or lag due to hot temperature of cpu and much more energy efficient than Q 810. (Not fan of Antutu benchmarks but, recently Meizu take the crown from Huawei karin 950 chipset in Huawei Mate 8!)
Softwere:
On the other hand meizu apparently is new to world market and cannot support their phone like google but, in future with custom roms it will be okay I think (do not expect near future!) Meizu does not come with unlock bootloader and apparently there is no way to unlock it and it may take so long to either someone manage to unlock it (very difficult + lack off good developers due to less popularity of meizu and the phone itself) or company give us a way to do it so, do not except support of developers or company like 6p. Meizu will definitely upgrade meizu pro 5 to marshmallow but, time is unknown.
Also if you really like pure android experience which I don't! heavily skin of Flyme OS on top of android in meizu may become a big problem for you. Lack of app drawer or design of home screen or even default apps are not a big deal as you can get a good launchers now a day specially with htc sense launcher and apps but, other part like setting menu and notification drawer and etc will be always the flyme one!
Screen
Comparing the screen, there should not be much differences as both phones using very similar amoled technology and panel. Yes 2k vs full hd but, 2k display of 6p is not as good as samsung new flagships like gs6 or note 5. Brightness of both phones are almost similar. I don't think you will notice the differences here in display part in daily usage because, differences of 2k displays are not very recognizable in human eyes in phones bellow 7" screens. But, if it does for you it's just a little more sharper but, not better in contrast, color and etc.
In 6p you will get gorilla glass 4 which is better when you drop the phone and can manage much more pressure here but, not as good as gorilla glass 3 (meizu pro 5) in scratch resistance part. If you use screen protector no problem here for both phones.
Audio:
Yes 6p has dual speaker in front which is more suitable when watching something or listening to musics with speakers but, meizu on the other hand support Hi-Fi audio so, provide much better quality sound specially when you plug a headphone which 6p was unfortunately poor here.
Hardware/Connectivity/Network/Battery:
Lack of memory support is again a big downside of 6p compare to meizu plus 2 sim in meizu vs 1 in 6p (in meizu 2 sim if you don't use sd card) .
For connectivity both doing great and not very different here. You have more 4g bands support in 6p but, if you don't live in USA you will not loose here. Meizu definitely is much better in battery part as you know so, no more words here. Also meizu charge the battery a little faster than 6p specially if you charge 6p with retail charger in it's package which the plug is weaker than meizu fast charger plug. (No need to buy faster plug in meizu).
Okay I don't know if I left anything else and hope it helps you to choose the best option but, personally I will choose meizu here as you mention the price of 6p I don't think it wrote 200 euro more just for a little better camera, speaker and screen VS it's downs. But, if you cannot live without latest version of android and faster support of google or with Flyme OS of meizu better to go for 6p. ( The only real downside of meizu compare to 6p currently before unlocking the bootloader of pro 5)

If you look at the prices, i will go for Letv Lemax, the most powerful android phone, that will be out soon and will cost about 530 USD with new snapdragon 820 and with antutu benchmark about 120 000. It have 64/128GB ROM, 4GB ram, QHD dipley, 21 MPX camera, USB 3.0 type C, atc.

6.33-inch display! wow huge for a phone!
Plus 2 MP front camera is not good for selfie + not amoled screen + 3400mAh battery definitely is not good in 2k IPS LCD display and you should wait at least 3 more months if not more for outside of china; And 530 usd price (price of 32gb with no expandable storage) is unconfirmed and if it cost 530$ it will be in china not outside so, definitely expect 600$+
The only upside is the cpu which we don't know how well it's until it comes out plus OIS in camera. Qualcome did awful job in 810
I've used both and the camera on the Meizu is far better than the 6P.

MX4 Pro. Still worth buying in 2017?

Hi guys, where i live there is a place selling the mx4 pro at $310 brand new. I live in a country where the normal prices of the smartphones are insane, like $555 for a Galaxy S7 and $680 for a LG G6 32GB. There's other Meizu phones too, like the MX6 for $460, the PRO 5 for $585 and the PRO 6 PLUS for $680. Look at those prices, the MX4 PRO looks like a great deal. And i really want a good smartphone to listen to music. For reference, the normal MX4 here is $250.
Anyone?

As a phone it is a little bit outdated but as far as music is concerned it is still very good. I use it as an alternative portable rig for listening music.
I use it with fiio alpen dac and the result is very good.
Even without external dac the sound it produces is very loud and clear.
One downside is the 16g capacity but otg works ok with external disks
I find it better sounding than my samsung s7 ,gflex 2 or even my old iphone 4 .
Also mx4 pro dac cant play natively 24 bit songs.(it downscales them to 16 bit.Not big issue but normally with the dac it has it should . If your external dac supports 24 bit then no problem .
With flyme 4 the phone also have dirac hd profiles that make sound better with some headphones. With flyme 5 or later dirac hd is not present.

Get Max Pro M1(6gb) or wait for RealMe 2 Pro?

Alright, so I need a phone and my main usage is playing PUBGm, watching content and since I'm on XDA, it would obviously mean that I would like to root it and boot it. I've got my eyes set on the ZMP 6gb variant for some time now but the upcoming RealMe 2 Pro has some really sweet specs. So should I get this or wait for it.

Check whether Realme 1 had got bootloader unlock and root within a reasonable time (if at all it did). It will give you a better perspective.
Grab the poco instead, I gave my 6gb zenfone to mom after I got poco and the difference is day and night, this phone has poor poor audio quality, wired or wireless and network though shows full has call drop issues which I don't get in poco in same place at home. Camera is pathetic on this phone unless you get gcam which is does not work flawlessly on 6gb version. Display is so dull compared to poco and don't even talk about performance. In short only place this phone really shine is 20% larger battery than poco but it has such poor slow charging rate that while playing pubg it won't charge single bit. In comparision you pay 6k more get excellent screen, stellar performance, way better audio quality and network coverage (poco supports 4g+) fast charging and way way better camera. Realme as owned by oppo does not allow to unlock bootloader. Not advertising poco but I love it so much I think anyone who is willing to spend 15k would be a fool to not spend 6k extra and get poco instead. Hope this helps.

If you want hassle free rooting and stuff then our device has it going already. I guess as someone already mentioned oppo maybe doesn't allow bootloader unlocking.
If you can stretch your budget then poco is a good buy for your requirements, if you don't mind the notch or miui.

To me, that's the only major thing that this phone lags, people who say watching it in SD or HD is the same thing on such a small screen is just some BS. Watching Netflix and prime in HD is just amazing and I sorely miss it but I've moved to watch it on the laptop now since my laptop's screen is FHD so it takes advantage of FHD streaming. So yea there is no workaround as of now for streaming in HD or FHD. If one can live with streaming SD or have an option to stream somewhere else this is the phone for you. Hope this helps.

Wait
Wait . Dont hurry for the Zenfone . Its not that Zenfone is a bad phone but the Realme 2 Pro is going to shake the market as it is going be the most affordable phone with SD660 which is really nice processor for gaming and other stuff . If you play games like PUBG you must wait for it to arrive . The CEO of the Chinese Company has promised to deliver better experience at low price.
If you are in a hurry , go for Zenfone Max Pro M1 6GB Variant or the Mi A2
Wait for realme 2 pro, dont go with poco phone, thats a buggy device and overall cheapest looks in this price segment
Wait for real me pro if you want color os or buy moto power one for stock rom and 2 update p and q

dont wait for realme 2 because u will not be able to unlock bootloader
Buy moto one power
But if you want a phone for pubg then buy asus zenfone max pro m1 beacuse moto one power has a notch and very rounded corners which will cut some screen contents
And asus max m1 has 6gb ram in that price

do you buy this phone today?

I need change my nubia z11 mini s, the volume of calls is unusable is so low, never was good at all. I have found an offer about 200 euros is like new on amazon, i was looking to get redmi note 7pro, xiaomi 8 or meizu 16 I love meizu design and camera looks pretty nice but lacks of support and scene. I am looking as well a good mic for calls, before the z11 I had a sony z3c and as well fails on mic calls was horrible in the end of phone live.
The phone is still worth it? Seems that doesn't have too may scene and rooms. In Spain this brand is dead literally really few people have it.
Do still buy it nowdays?
Thank you
Edit: I can buy brand new mi8 about 300 euros, mi mix 2s 290 euros or htc u11 like new on amazon about 200 euros. Which do you prefer?

I agree.
U11 has really a great camera, that can not be compared with other mobiles mentioned.
Also system is really fluid and user experience is very polished.
Last year from U11 I went for Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S: i kept it about a month then got a U12+

buy htc u11 and you will have no regrets!
just yesterday I sold an oneplus 6 to go back to the htc u11: it's a fabulous phone, nice touch & feel, fantastic camera, nice display, fantastic size, superlative videos with super 3D audio, fingerprint reader very fast to unlock it.
Even today I think the htc u11 is a fantastic phone that can compete with all the other top on the market, even in 2018-2019.
It has only one defect: the updates.
If it's not a problem for you, you can not spend your money better.
And then you also have Amazon's guarantee!
On what Amazon did you find it for 200 euros?
Forgive my English: I use Google translator.
I got HTC U11 for about 250 USD around a month back. It is a great phone. I bought it keeping it as a backup phone and using Note 8 as a main phone but it happened vice versa.
Absolutely recommend even in 2 years from now you won't regret it !

Suggest to go for U11, the main problem is hard to get new software and probably no official Pie to taste. I've got U11 and RedMi 5 Plus and my friend just got a Mi 8 Lite yesterday.
The camera is superb on U11 and Mi 8 Lite(the same camera with Mi8 without OIS and aperture down to f1.9 from f1.8) is far away from U11. I've also got a Sony Z5 Compact and the photo/video quality on Mi 8 Lite is only about the same to Z5c in reality with faster dual pixel focus, never fully believe reviews on net, some are paid. I guess the Mi 8 does better but won't come close to U11 in real life usage.
If you are looking for RedMi note 7 pro, the good is 4000mah battery with sd675 u will receive least 50% more battery life over U11 with downgraded cpu and camera.
Nokia 9 is good only for taking photo with a crazy 12.4 stops dynamic range but photo lacking of details and the video quality comes out from Nokia 9 is bad too.
EDIT: https://twitter.com/htc/status/1105203212477292547
HTC said U11 Pie is still working on so I think we will receive latest security patches later.
U11 all the way. Its way underappreciated phone. Excellent screen, speakers. Superb camera with/without gcam port. Good battery life. Has custom ROM development as well with unlockable bootloader. Its the last issue-free phone from HTC.
Sent from my HTC_U-3u using Tapatalk
Still a good phone

Hi,
I bought one last week, loving it so far. I came from a Samsung S7 and there are almost identical apart from nice large screen on U11 and better front camera.
It has a nice UI, ROMS on here are good. Battery life good.
I got one on EBay for 185 Euros in perfect condition.

I would recommend it, if you can purchase it at a decent price, and if you are comfortable installing LineageOS. The combination of the U11 hardware, the LineageOS software, and the Google Camera app make this phone still, to this day, one of the smoothest phones that can take great pictures.
I have owned it for 2 years and plan on holding onto it for another year, or until there is significant improvement in the Google Pixel line.
In my case the camera especially when you use stock camera app. isn't good. Too much noise, but if you use Google camera mod it changes everything. Battery backup is decent, even when my device is 2 years old now.

J5 2016 Replacement/ upgrade advice please

It's (beyond) time for me to get a more current phone. Here's my requirements:
5.2 - 5.5"
rootable (bootloader unlockable)
full 64bit hardware (not just the CPU) + 64bit (ARM) Android
at least 32 GB internal storage, better 64 GB
3 or more GB RAM
13 or more Megapixel camera resolution
precise GPS module for Navigation
natively supporting at least Android 9 for native EdXposed capability, better Android 10
stable custom ROM with active current support available (preferred: LineageOS)
SD card slot (dual sim optional)
needn't be new, can be used
LTE is fine - no need for 5G (5G would be fine thanks to downwards capability with LTE/ 4G)
colors: white, silver, dark green, blue/ lavender (no black)
NOT a Huawei
Do above criteria ring any bell? Which phone(s) would you suggest to me?

Hi, noticed you already bought your phone, but maybe next time if you need advice, then also mention your budget.
Either way, the Nokia 6.1 isnt a great phone, if you can sell it then I'd recommend going for a Poco M3 (Xiaomi) in the USD220 range, or a Realme C3 if you wanna get cheap (around USD 150). Both are available brand new, they have similar processor performance, large screens, good battery life etc. The Poco M3's camera is much better than the Realme C3's, but thats the price you have to pay to reduce the cost. Both Poco's and Realme's software sucks in my opinion, but you're going to use a custom ROM anyways, so that won't be an issue for you. Android 12 is available through custom ROMs for both phones, and they have plenty of support on XDA.
Hi @PhotonIce thanks for your recommendations. Both, the Xiaomi Poco M3 and the Realme C3, are 6,5" and exceed my 5.2" - 5.5" size range. I've used a Nokia 6.2 for half a year last year, so I'll see in the next few months how it'll smaller sibling will perform. My needs are rather low, with Navigation apps (Magic Earth, TomTom) setting the top bar for performance (no gaming or such). At this point I can leave making pixel-sharp photos of UFOs to others ..
Oops, sorry my bad, thought it said 6.2-6.5inch range
Though in that range, I'd still highly recommend the Mi Note 3 (if you can get it). It has a much better SoC, a 12mp camera with OIS and a 12mp telephoto, and a 16mp selfie camera.
indeed nice the Xiaomi Mi Note 3, and even with official and latest LineageOS support. Good to know
[EDIT] not available in Central Europe - closest region here to order from would be UK. Only close sibling available here would be the Xiaomi Mi A1 (Mi 5X).
The mi a1 isnt as impressive, I guess it's best if you keep your nokia
Also the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 doesn't have a headphone jack.

True, but you didn't mention that in your list of requirements, so you can't really blame me for that.
