[Guide] Install EdXposed on Android 10 - Google Pixel 3a Guides, News, & Discussion

How did I install EdXposed framework on my Google Pixel 3a. Did it for Gravitybox AIO.
1. Installed latest Magisk v20 (guide is in this subforum) on latest Android 10 image.
2. Install Riru-Core v19+ from Magisk repo.
3. Download EdXposed and install it in Magisk Manager manual (modules-->+ and add zip you downloaded).
4. Install companion application-EdXposed manager.
5. Reboot.
Have fun!
The installation guide is here
Edit:
Gravitybox first crashed/did not open normally, so I changed the EdXposed from 3. to this YAHFA version from post #30

The yafha version you posted finally made my xposed work! I'm on latest December patch anx and confirmed working with these modules I use :
X screen stabilizer
Xinsta
Unclutter ig
Exi for SwiftKey, but some of the functions aren't
Thanks for this!

Got this working no problem but a lot of these modules on the repo are old AF!! I remember using a bunch of these back in my galaxy S5 days. Haven't gone thru all of them yet but nothing really catching my eye

installed riru core 19.5, edexposed manager and gravitybox...gravitybox keeps showing system framework not responding. exiting
any idea why?

Yeah the latest isn't working for me, I don't know which version it is but the one on the OP edit is doing great over here

Are you using edge sense plus with this? I'm getting stick on boot screen after installing this module. The only other one I have right now is edge sense plus.

I'm using edge sense plus alongside edxposed with yafha version posted on the edit of the original post, and all is great

I followed this and I got it to work for a couple of seconds but everytime I try to open the app it crashes

This download site says "Notes: Since the above PR is not merged yet, to make those sepolicies present you have to use this build along with the customized Magisk build hosted here: https://github.com/solohsu/magisk_files."
I don't know what PR means and what it implys when the PR is not merged Did you do anything special?
First I just installed the non-YAHFA edXposed release and it seemed to work (bot Gravity Box crashed my device), did try the YAHFA version: Gravity Box crashes my device.
Changed the Magisk Update channel to this URL http://edxp.meowcat.org/repo/version.json (found this somewhere) and updated Magisk. It seemed that this is somehow another Magisk...? But after installing the YAHFA EdXposed module and Gravity Box my device crashes again.
Everything works fine until Gravity Box is installed.
In all cases the Pixel 3a XL reboots just some seconds after boot. Time and again!
It was really hard to disable the Magisk module in that short time to get back a working device.
None of you had such a problem?

For the 3a XL, you can use official magisk. Just use the canary version (you can use https://del.dog/DebugMagiskCanary in the updater URL for it.) Then use the canary yahfa builds from the edxposed installer app. Gravity box for Android 10 should work fine with that setup, I was using it for a few months. Make sure the latest Riru core is installed from the magisk repo as well.

Did you mean the edXposed Manager app from https://github.com/ElderDrivers/EdXposedManager/releases/?
And installing the "Framework" under tab Canary (see attached screenshot) just installs the Magisk Module? Didn't expect this because Magisk is nowhere mentioned...
Just don't want to install the wrong thing because of missing TWRP for Pixel 3a XL with Android 10 ... all risky enough

Yes that's correct. The zips there are for magisk and they'll flash fine. Everything worked perfectly when I was on stock on the January patch.

Yeah - thank you very much. I can confirm that this finally works!

Gravitybox and XprivacyLua are not working, complaining on framework (XLua: 'Module not running or updated').
I've tried everything I can think of, different Riru Core, EdXposed and Manager versions, no luck.
Had the same issues with LineageOS 17.1 (which includes official Feb updates, I think) from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81833597&postcount=4
After that I did factory reset again and flashed factory image from January, installed the same Magisk, Riru and EdXposed modules and everything works fine.
The flashed February image again (flash-all), tried Canary builds of Magisk and EdXposed and still getting same errors as above.
Any advise?

Update:
I've managed to get EdXposed working on previous mentioned LineageOS 17.1 version. I'm not 100% sure about steps but from the memory require installing latest Canary version of Magisk and Magisk Manager. It seems the order is also important, i.e. install Magisk Manager before Magisk. I've followed these steps:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82023057&postcount=3146
The versions and order are:
install Magisk Manager Canary, ver 72f677d (278)
install Magisk Canary, ver 72f677d (278)
install Riru-Core v 19.7
For these two I'm not sure about order:
install Riru-EdXposed v 0.4.6.0_beta YAHFA
install EdXposed Manager v 4.5.2
install your EdXposed modules
Note: these are general steps, some are omited like how to find these versions. Also, reboot the phone as required.
Both Gravitybox and XprivacyLua work and I'm no longer getting these errors in the EdXposed Manager logs.
After a day or two I did upgrade EdXposed Manager to ver 4.5.4 since ver 4.5.2 was complaining to be outdated. After upgrade both Verbose and modules logs are showing some errors but the modules seems to work well.
Since that LineageOS 17.1 version comes with Feb patches I'd assume it should work on all ROM's with Feb patch but I didn't test further.

Pixel 3a with stock ROM rooted using latest Magisk v20.3. Followed your instructions to install EdXposed, yet every time after I reboot and check the EdXposedManager v4.5.4, it says the "EdXposed Framework is not installed!"
The phone has the March 5, 2020 update, qq2a.200305.002 if that helps. I have tried both Riru - SandHook and Riru-YAHFA, and of course the core, Riru – Core module. Makes no difference

Last night I had a problem after upgrading Riru-Core to ver 20.3. Long story short, I end up with factory reset and re-flashing Lineage 17.1 (here).
After that, I have a chance to played with some combinations of Magisk, Riru and EdXposed and here is what work for me.
- install latest Magisk Manager Canary
- install latest Magisk Canary
- follow instructions how to obtain root from here (Method 2)
- install Riru-Core v 21.2
- reboot
- install EdXposed Manager v 4.5.2
- install Riru-EdXposed v 0.4.6.0_beta YAHFA (from Magisk)
- reboot
- check in EdXposed Manager if EdXposed Framework is active
- install your EdXposed modules
- activate them, wait 10 sec and reboot
- check if all modules work
- install EdXposed Manager v 4.5.4
- install EdXposed Manager v 4.5.7
After the above steps, the XPrivacyLua was working (no "Module not running or updated" messages).
Please note this is not an ultimate guide, just what worked for me after trying many things. I did not try all possible combinations.
If after installing Riru-EdXposed and reboot the EdXposed Framework is not active, try something different.
Even if EdXposed Framework is active it doesn't necessary means everything is ok. Check EdXposed logs for clues, read the forums.
I'm running unofficial Lineage 17.1 build, with no gapps. Your mileage may vary even with same ROM and phone, depends on other apps and modules installed.

Yesterday, I have upgraded ROM to the latest Lineage 17.1 available and reinstalled Magisk and Exposed. And I run into the trouble with EdXposed again.
With latest Magisk, Riru Core and Riru-EdXposed the logs shows errors like "mmap failed, errno = Permission denied", "cannot hook method" and "Cannot load any modules".
The XprivacyLua and GravityBox won't work ("Module not running or updated").
I have tried Magisk Canary and EdXposed Canary builds, as well as different versions of each, no luck.
In the end this combination worked for me:
- install Magisk Manager 4.5.0
- set custom update channel: https://github.com/solohsu/magisk_files/blob/master/README.md
- install Magisk 20.1 from the above channel
- upgrade Magisk Manager to 4.5.1 also from the above channel
- follow instructions how to obtain root from here (Method 2)
- after flashing patched boot etc, install Riru-Core v 19.7
- reboot
- install Riru-EdXposed v 0.4.6.0_beta YAHFA
- install EdXposed Manager v 4.5.2
- reboot
- check for errors in EdXposed logs
- if no errors, install one EdXposed module
- wait 10 sec and reboot
- check for errors in EdXposed logs
- check if the module works fine
- install other EdXposed modules
- wait 10 sec and reboot
Later on, I have uploaded EdXposed Manager to 4.5.4. I would not dare to upgrade anything else, it's looks so fragile.

Help needed: Xposed FakeGapps not working on P8 Gratitude V3

I'm going slightly mad...
Removed all google Apps; Installed latest xposed v86 (after pre-installed didn't work, too) and FakeGapps 1.1. Also installed microG from f-droid. All went fine, no errors. When I use microG self-check, however, it tells me my system doesn't spoof signatures. And of course no apps (phonesky, GmsCore) have got correct signatures. Xposed logs are empty.
Any advice?
Thanks.
install again all google Apps
Seriously? I want to get rid of them!
Hello,
I have the same problem (Ascend P7 with Android 5.1.1, magisk, phh superuser, systemless xposed 86.5).
Removed all Gapps, installed fakegapps 1.1 and microg core+framework+droidguard helper.
System spoofs signature on microg self-check: off.
xposed log empty (note: xposed saves it to storage/emulated/0/xposedinstaller instead of data/data/de.robv.../log)
tilleulenspiegel: did you manage to get a workaround to it?
Used android 11 with LSposed : added/enabled gmscore to fakegapps module and now it works

Change your update types to beta vs stable in magisk settings
Fyi,. If one is woud like to upgrade the audio on the essential, you can do so by just changing two booleans to true. Must be rooted, but navigate to root/vendor/build. prop, next change the 2 dolby ds2 lines from false, to true, then hit save and reboot. One enables and the other forces the audio to bypass to this setting. So ds2 enable, and ds2 bypass.set to true. The phone is a bit louder but has far better audio. Which in my opinion it already sounds great beforehand. This just gives it a little boost. See screenshot.
Hi there any magisk module that you recommend for the essential ph1
I can attest the systemizer magisk module works as well on Pie.

Safetynet failed! Even after installing everything possible.

I have installed the magiskhide props and BusyBox tried using emulator plus used safety patch.. nothing worked at all. Nor the systemizer module work here on my realme 2 pro 8gb variant.....
On emulator I m receiving system/bin/sh props: not found error

Snapchat - blocked due to root, even on Magisk?

Hi all!
I constantly get blocked on Snapchat, since they notice im rooted.
Im on Alexis Rom 8.5.1, Android 9 with Magisk and MagiskManager installed.
SaftyNet Check is successful
Mods installed:
MagiskHide Props Config
Riru - Core & edXposed
Busybox for Android NDK
Snapchat i ticked under Magisk Hide, so it should not find that im rooted? But somehow it says im using 3rd party app or something and blocks me after 1 dag.
What am i missing? What more do i need to do?
i know snapchat works once hidden with magisk hide and busybox installed... however ive not got Riru - Core & edXposed chances are its picking up on that somehow

Hey,
I just wanted to ask if any solutions worked for you bc I have exactly the same problem. I am using Alexis ROM 9.2 (I guess) on my Galaxy s8 and I get locked out and banned for 24 hours every 2 or 3 days. I have no mods installed and I dont know what to do anymore...

Magisk attestation/safteynet failed

Hi, magisk was passing saftey net. I installed magisk 21.2 with twrp and it says its installed. Installed Magisk hide and hid all Google apps and I think it changed the devices fingerprint in the install log. But no luck. Any ideas?

You just need to enable Magisk hide option in Magisk Manager (nothing specially to install for), and the required activity for GooglebPlay Services to hide will be already checked-in. You don't need to check in manually the other Google apps (and better you don't)
All that does not change device fingerprint or any prop.
If you really want to change props (incl. device fingerprint), use Magisk Hide Props Config (MHPC), find its XDA thread with the Guide in OP post (and more detailed guide on its Github)
And I don't see any problem ("no luck"?!) on your screenshot.
If SafetyNet is passing, better don't change any props/fingerprints - specially, before playing with, carefully study Magisk Wiki and MHPC Guide from Github

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
I reinstalled to go back to default magisk settings. I have Magiskhide enabled. But for instance. The macdonalds app when redeeming an offer will say "security check failed". Also playstore cant see netflix and some other apps anymore with new version of magisk. I used magisk to pass safteynet to do that before, or it was doing that before but its not passing safteynet with 21.2 magisk now
I tried using MagiskHide Props Config to change the devices finger print but attestation keeps failing

On Magisk Github find Wiki, there is the whole chapter devoted to the problems how certain apps detect root and tips how you can try to prevent
But it's a constant game of mice and cat - you may fix it for now (for some of those apps), but a newer version of that app may explore a new methods to again detect the root
As the minimum, enlist the given apps to the Magisk hide list.
Also, take Hide Magisk Manager and rename it - it may help (some apps look if Magisk Manager is installed).
Remove TWRP folder (some look for that) - read the Wiki, try all the tips suggested there
Btw, are you passing SafetyNet or no. First you must make sure to pass (my comments above are about that even if you pass SsfetyNet, that there are still apps that declare that phone is rooted, by taking other checks and methodes).
So, Msgisk Hide must be enabled.
If its still not passing SafetyNet, take a screenshot - does it pass Basic Integrity or not, does it show taking Basic or Hardware eval type for CTS
Some Magisk modules may also cause SafetyNet to fail. Disable all modules, reboot and try again
These are all important details, not just SN is failing or some app detects root...
thanks will do. Gave them a go and now trying changing my devices finger print. Just cant get attestation/basicintegrity or cts profile to pass. Only have magisk hide propconfig module @zgfg
See again my previous post - I've edited/added some details
I enabled magisk hide. Changed magisk name. Changed every fingerprint and simulation of device I could but still get this
I checked magisk hide with a root checker and its working with that. So somethings working. Cant find the magisk github wiki but finding lots of other stuff to try to get saftey net passing. Just no luck yet
trying to install HiddenCore Module from Xposed but the manager is saying xposed framework is not installed even though I've have Riru core and tried both frameworks. All this stuff worked before on my phone before the new magisk update or googles updated something maybe
had to install framework via TWRP. Got HiddenCore Module going and safety net check pass!!! However still cant redeem offers with macas because of security check fail. Wonder what there looking for now. Removed everything before and just hid with magisk but they must have updated. Also cant see my netflix in google play like i used to
