Icons on app drawer - Google Pixel 4 Questions & Answers

Guys, do you too have the ususless icons like Google VR Services on the app drawer? Any way to remove it? I remember they came out on Pixel 3 with a particular beta build of android 10...

uninstall

I got them too, for example titanium backup shows 3 icons now.. I think it's how android 10 shows apps, until developers fix this the apps are shown.
Temp "fix": use another launcher

There are no apps like this for me. I've done a recent fresh install of October Android 10 but I noticed them during the betas, I was on the beta since beta 1.

Yup, probably stable Q10 for Pixel 4 comes from the old beta that had useless icons active..

Looking for assistance with Nova Launcher & Prime

Not sure if this is the right spot for this thread but here's hoping lol
Been running Nova Launcher for ages now on my old phone and on my Galaxy S7 Edge, phone with in for insurance claim couple weeks ago but shortly before that i found Nova was crashing at least 2-3 times a day, just got the new handset, restored backups etc and seems the same problem is occurring, guessing it's something to do with the way it's got an app laid out or something but no idea how to test this, does anyone have anything similar that they've fixed that might give me a heads up?
Current Android Version: 6.0.1, all the latest Samsung updates are installed, Nova Launcher Version: 4.6, Nova Launcher Prime Version: 4.8 if it helps at all
Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide insight
Probably a problem with the backup. Don't restore the backup. Start from scratch.

I am an avid Nova Launcher Prime 4.3.1 user. I did import my settings from my old phone (a Moto X2). I have not had any problems whatsoever with Nova crashing. However, one side-effect from the import was some of the launcher icons in the app drawer changed from the Samsung theme to the Motorola theme. (I don't remember all the icons which changed but one was the dialer icon.) This may be an argument for not using an import of your previous settings.

Google play early access opt-out?

Hey everybody, I notice that today 3 apps from OnePlus has been updated using the early access program.
I don't like untested apps in my phone and I have automatic updates turned on (for regular non-beta apps).
How can I disable the early access program or, at least, prevent those apps from updating to untested versions?

Don't think you can ... Plus it's not like u can use the features of the "untested" apps, which are really updated icon packs. These require a new version of the OnePlus launcher which we don't really have.

All apps crashing on Android P since this morning

Things were going great the last few days on Android P until this morning. All of a sudden, post a few playstore app updates, the OS became unusable. Google Services (this apk possibly got an OTA update) kept stopping in a loop and all apps started closing....which ended up blocking me from using the phone (couldn't access settings etc. and was too lazy to adb into the device to troubleshoot). Ended up rolling back to oreo. Anyone else faced this?
More information please, where you rooted, custom kernel.ect
I was getting fc'z like crazy yesterday after a fresh install, what I ended up havingto do was a factory reset in twrp and have had none since.
No root, no custom kernel/recovery. Just pure Google provided images and apps from play store

no such issues here (yet).
clean install, no root.
Clean install of Android P with Magisk 16.1 last night. No issues so far but I'm not even 24 hours in. I do know that the Android P dev notes from Google report that the system can get extremely unstable over time. So the OPs issues make sense.
The way I'm looking at it is if my phone runs perfectly on Android P for 5-6 days before starting to hiccup, then I have no problem quickly reflashing Android P without wiping data every 5-6 days since it takes like 30 seconds and doesn't force me to re-download or re-setup any apps. To me, this would be worth it in order to run an otherwise stable version of Android that most other phones won't get until this time next year.
But, if I only make it 48-72 hours before the phone starts really acting up, I'll probably go back to 8.1 until the next iteration of Android P dev preview is released.
Clean flashed P the day it dropped, flashed magisk and flash when both were updated to support them. Only minor crashes every other day or so.
Playstore has a "huge" bug.Did you have beta apps (like WhatsApp,play services etc)? When you go to the tab "Beta" and try to hit on an application, playstore closes without fc message.
Clean install, no root. Widgets disappear randomly once or twice a day.

Just tested this and can confirm the same issue for me.

Stock launcher or a differnt launcher? I've been using Nova Prime since installing Android P 2 days ago and haven't had any issues with widgets disappearing or malfunctioning.

Stock Launcher. Might have to switch to NOVA. This is getting annoying.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) - Google Now/Pixel Launcher Side-panel Problem

Hello.
I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and I use the Google Now Launcher. I rely on having the google app to the left of the main home screen for notifications about traffic, weather and news. I like having it there a lot. Today I noticed that it was no longer accessible from there.
I looked this up and it sounds like Google plan to discontinue the Google Now Launcher and replace it with the "Pixel Launcher". But naturally, my device is not supported by this new app.
I downloaded and installed this, and it seems like the Pixel Launcher (or something similar to it, nearly identical) works on my device now. It was very convenient to have because I do not want to Root my phone.
At first the side-panel Google app worked with this (bootleg?) Pixel Launcher, but after I was done customizing my home screens it stopped working. I checked all the options like "Google app to the left of main screen" and such things, and they didn't change anything. It only started working again when I re-booted the phone.
My question is: what made it stop? Can I still get the Google side-panel to open on the original Now launcher (with which I am more used)? I like the Pixel launcher but I prefer to use officially-supported apps so I can get updates for them, and I don't believe the one I downloaded (from the link above) will get any updates.
Any help would be appreciated.
Just downgrade to the old Google Now Launcher

Adding & Removing Apps From The App Drawer?

Hello,
My apologies if this is a LAME question but I have about a weeks experience on Oreo on this new S8. The phone is a "U1" unlocked variant with NO carrier bloatware if that means anything.
It originally came with an early version of Oreo and I started to install apps and such. Got a prompt to install a newer Oreo update so I let it do so overnight. The version installed is 8.0.0 Samsung Experience 9.0, the last Oreo update before Pie. The next day I noticed that some of the apps that used to be in the apps drawer were now missing in action!
Thanks,
Steve
I finally figured out how to "unhide" the system apps and found them still alive and well in the settings /apps menu. So this prompts the generic question - How does one add or remove what apps show up in the app drawer? There is currently one that I would like to remove and a couple that I would like to add. So far internet searching has been unproductive.

In general
Setting - apps
3 dot menu ( top right ) will bring up additional menu items ( including shows systems apps ).
Tapping on app will bring up app Info.
3rd party apps can be uninstall.
System apps can't being uninstall ( some can be disabled ).
Generally any app that you install will show up in apps menu. Uninstalled apps will be removed from apps menu.

Thanks, but I already figured this much out. Here are a couple of more specific examples.
I used to have either downloads / download manager accessible in the app drawer before the software update. Now they show as hidden System Apps in app manager but are no longer showing in the app drawer and can't be launched from the settings / apps (or at least I can't figure out how). Tapping on the app doesn't launch it only goes into the particular app settings/properties. Same thing for the My Files app. All of this happened after a system software update. Samsung thought that they had to clean up the UI some more... UUGGGHHHH!
I accidentally hit the Galaxy Themes app from one of the settings screens and didn't find anything useful that couldn't live without. But now the Galaxy Themes app shows up in my app drawer! I don't need it, will probably never use it, and don't want it there. I guess that I could just hide it but would rather it not be there in the first place.
Thanks,
Steve

Good day.
There should be a toggle in the options of the galaxy theme app that shows or hides the icon on the app drawer. Check there.
