Just bought a seller refurbished Xiaomi Redmi 2 ROM advice? - Xiaomi Redmi 2 Questions & Answers

I'm pretty new to Android. Just bought a seller refurbished Xiaomi Redmi 2 (HM 2LTE-CMCC) 2GB 16GB 2014CP6123 from ebay. Has MUI 7.0 4.4.4 ktu84p. Should I factory reset (to get rid of any Chinese viruses/spyware etc.) and then flash EU Rom or global? I don't want to root it as I want to use banking apps etc. but would like the latest possible Android version which I read is nougat, is installing a custom Rom different to EU/Global Rom? Would a custom Rom affect the apps available on the play store? (I rooted an android tablet and couldn't use banking apps etc.)
Hoping someone could give me step-by-step general advice and best Roms etc/tutorials links? Also the video recording stated it would be 1080p but is a little fuzzy, it's turned itself off once or twice from sleep mode despite being almost fully charged and the battery seems to quite quickly. Do I need to buy a new battery?

Seems your phone is Redmi 2 Enhanced (HM2014813) which is China only version. i'm sorry to tell you that this version has no official global rom (China rom only available), no custom rom, and mostly no much help about this device. I think the used Leadcore CPU is the main problem.
Flashing miui rom using fastboot method is recommended to get rid of some bloatware. Please note you will still get some xiaomi chinese apps after flashing due to your phone variant.

There a link for someone to try mokee ROM. Its in Chinese
Sent from my HM NOTE 1LTEW using XDA Free mobile app
Google mokee rom and go the mokee page, you can switch to english. Download the rom and flash it through recovery.
Our phone is new and as a result there aren't custom roms out yet, be patient. I myself will try Mokee rom, used to flash them on my previous phone (Galaxy Note II) and they are awesome.
EDIT: The current version of Mokee Rom for our phone is currently available only for the Chinese 4g version, so don't flash it yet.

hi there, its been a few months since you posted this and i've noticed many others tried this rom.
I think it has global support for english maybe ?
I am using the FDD-LTE which is the international version. It flashes well with TWRP. I have not noticed any bug at all. Just freeze the chinese apps with Bloatware Freezer or any other.
Mokee AOSP rom
I'm used Mokee AOSP rom two weeks, and it's perfect. With SD Maid Pro You could freeze/delete the chinese apps, and don't forget to freeze the "System server" app!!
rom aosp mokee redmi note lte
Currently I carry in my redmi note Lte and goes great.
It's a little spendthrift battery ... And I like more than miui.
You can tell me how to change the internal storage to the external microsd to get photos from the camera and gallery? Not find've looked at google camera options. No such adjustment.
Only in my settings, storage settings, select primary microsd. But I will not let this turn you off, do not understand,
Wear a 64gb samsung evo and well recognized.

Redmi 2 Prime Global Developer ROM on HM2014811

Im the happy owner of a Redmi 2 - HM2014811, 16 GB, 2 GB RAM. The 4G band my network operator runs is the rather exotic - I'm in EU - TDD 38(2600) and this phone has it.
Im running as we speak the Redmi 2 4G Global Stable ROM - Version: V8.0.1.0.KHJMIDG (MIUI8), KitKat based.
Question1: Is it possible to flash Redmi 2 Prime Global Developer ROM, Lollipop based?... I'm asking this because i want to preserve the native LTE bands of the phone, not losing the TDD38(2600). As seen on gsmarena, the Prime version is dedicated to the indian market - and the LTE bands are quite different.
Question 2: If yes, should is use recovery or fastboot method, as the actual ROM is KitKat based and the Developer ROM I want to flash is Lollipop based?
Question 3: Will I feel a lack in performance, considering the phone has 2 GB RAM?
I asked the same questions on the miui forum, but I hardly got an answer related to the first question.
1. Yes , .. Go ahead and install the Prime's Developer ROM .. im saying this as one of my friend with 20140811 (TDD) , is using it ,I don't exactly know how it works but it should be able to use , this might sound not Convincing but You can Always revert Back ..
2. You can Use Recovery or Fastboot , both would Work .. but if you're using Custom Recovery such as TWRP , make sure its Compatible with Lollipop Bootloader , like TWRP 2.8.6.1 doesn't have Support whereas TWRP 3.0 or later have ..
To avoid as Mishappenings , Try not to use Mi Recovery as In most cases We are now getting the Error 7 in TWRP and Not able to flash in MI Recovery .. the Error 7 is due to , if you know , the Updater Script and Can be solved by Editing it .
3. It's more than Sufficient .. the 2gb of ram , you'll not feel any lack in performance
Hope this helped

just ordered VKY-AL00 via amazon, need advice and help!

Hey guys
I decided to by the p10+ via amazon so i ended up with the VKY-AL00 version. I see that most of the guides here refer to the VKY-L29 variant of phones. Will trying them out brick my device?
Is there a way to make myself a stock version of (bare with me, the last phone i successfully rooted/flashed was my Galaxy S3 with cyanogen mod. and this was like 1 year ago, im super rusty with terms) the kernel, bootloader, recovery and ROM?
EMUI is attrocious to me, I would liked to install cyanogenmod (or LineageOS now?) but i doubt they have it up yet. Regardless, i would like to keep the camera software that comes with the p10+ since it has a crap ton of options for the camera. Is there a way to keep this app If i flash a new ROM to the device? If not, is there an app out there that can do what this one does? (maybe even better?)
Thanks!

Is my phone going to get bricked?

Hello I have Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus that is currently running on Pixel Experience. Before that i had xiaomi.eu rom 10.3.x.x... The latest rom for my phone from official Xiaomi rom site is 10.2.1.0..
Now the question is will my phone get bricked if i flash stock miui rom?
If you have unlocked bootloader, you can flash latest rom via mi-flash tool. It will not brick your device. Redmi 5 plus aka Vince doesn't have ARB feature. So you are free to flash any version of rom as long as your bootloader is unlocked.

Hi! No, in my experience, I used miui and custom roms, flashing it following their respective instructions and nothing went bad. Follow the instructions and you will go ok, but, if you fail, you will learn how fix it too

It doesn't matter, every time you install an update of firmware that message is showed, but remember if you come from miui stock or miui based rom, you need to format data

can't install EU rom

I bought a second hand mi6 ceramic. Looks perfect. I think it’s a china phone. I have experience with unlocking and flashing Xiaomi phones but run into trouble with this phone. I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP. I tried to install the EU rom. But everytime I do that it hangs at first startup. I Installed a newer version than that was on the phone (10.2) . I installed both teh stable and weekly, both the same. With the Xiaomiflashtool I went back to its first state (both global and china rom). I don’t understand what I am doin wrong. Someone an idea? Thanks in advance.

I have this issue in December 2017 and from this time i'm on global stable. If this not be fixed to nowadays, probably never will be fixed. My phone it was brand new from gearbest which rather exclude any hw problem.

thanks all. i have kept trying with different version of twrp but indeed nothing works. I give it up now.
install TWRP
Wipe all data (includes storage)
Copy rom zip to phone and install
or sideload install
I have exactly the same issue, I'm trying to change rom due to main microphone issue on Global stable, someone have any suggestion?
I notice that some rom need a specific miui firmware preinstalled before flash the new rom (like lineage OS), I think that the system partition have a certain influence, maybe flash eu rom over global stable is wrong, some one have try flash over developer or weekly?
