Is my phone going to get bricked? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus ROMs, Kernels, Recove

Hello I have Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus that is currently running on Pixel Experience. Before that i had xiaomi.eu rom 10.3.x.x... The latest rom for my phone from official Xiaomi rom site is 10.2.1.0..
Now the question is will my phone get bricked if i flash stock miui rom?

If you have unlocked bootloader, you can flash latest rom via mi-flash tool. It will not brick your device. Redmi 5 plus aka Vince doesn't have ARB feature. So you are free to flash any version of rom as long as your bootloader is unlocked.

Hi! No, in my experience, I used miui and custom roms, flashing it following their respective instructions and nothing went bad. Follow the instructions and you will go ok, but, if you fail, you will learn how fix it too

yes i know that i wont get bricked for using pixel experience... but i had xiaomi.eu rom on it which was higher than the one xiaomi officially provides... I am asking because i noticed that custom recovery said Detected reinstall of bootloader.. and that is not a good sign..

It doesn't matter, every time you install an update of firmware that message is showed, but remember if you come from miui stock or miui based rom, you need to format data

Hello XDA, if any of redmi 3s user here can extract the stock recovery of redmi 3s (land), it would be highly appreciated.
I flashed TWRP recovery and now to install an official MIUI 8 developer build, i need stock recovery.
So, if anyone can please upload the recovery, it would be really helpful.

Why not flash another official ROM by MiFlash? It'll bring stock recovery, afaik.
Download the fastboot rom. It will include recovery.img
Thanks guys. I know that fastboot ROM will include the recovery.img but compare 1.7 GB with 30 MB.
I asked for stock recovery because 6.9.28 Global beta was giving find device force close on bootup.
I downloaded xiaomi.eu miui 8.0.6.0 and it's working great.
Global Rom is not good anyway IMHO. Use Chinese dev, it has English.

The ROM from Xiaomi.eu is not exactly stock ROM, it is a heavily modified under the hood version of Stock ROM. It has better RAM management, better fluidity and the number of bloat apps is very few, like 30 in stock and 2-3 in Xiaomi.eu version.
I really like it and I intent to stay on it
Also, are you by the name Aron Ne on Facebook?

I used developer ROM. Flash that first then you will be able to unlock bootloader. Make sure that you have got permission.

MIUI not upgrading to lollipop

I was running Mokee based on MM on the Kitkat bootloader. I wanted to revert to Miui so i flashed the lollipop MIUI Rom via the bootloader. It flashed without any errors and when I opened my phone, i went to settings just to check the lollipop easter egg. When I opened about phone, instead of lollipop, it showed that it was on Kitkat. I, at first, thought that maybe I flashed the wrong ROM and I checked every forum in the books and every forum proved that the ROM version I had was based on Lollipop. I used the Kitkat ROM that I had flashed and I got the MIUI 8 OTA upgrade. I downloaded it in the hopes that maybe that might upgrade it to Lollipop. However, it didnt. I then flashed the Kitkat MIUI ROM and did an OTA update to MIUI 8 and it is still on Kitkat. I gave up and I flashed AICP based on Nougat. Now the thing is, VoLTE works on AICP and VoLTE is not a feature of the KITKAT MIUI ROM. In fact, I checked whether VoLTE was there on MIUI 8 that I had and I couldn't find the VoLTE option. I took a nandroid backup via TWRP of the MIUI 8 ROM and a lot of features weren't there that should be there in the ROM.
Just to be clear, my bootloader is not locked.
My question is, how do i get the lollipop MIUI ROM ? Where am i going wrong?
Simple.....go to xiaomi.eu site.Download miui 8 ROM for your device .Flash it by the t.w.r.p provided at that site only and don't wipe system before flashing.
You must have to flash miui ROM by fastboot....that is not true.

does that mean i have to reflash twrp and then flash the miui ROM?
Also, are these ROM's official ROMs? As in, do they come with OTA updates and are they the same(feature wise) as the MIUI ROM available on the official MI forums?
One more thing, does this version of twrp support other roms as well? As in, if I want to flash a custom ROM in the future, will it support those ROMs?

1)Yes u have to reflash t.w.r.p ( found in xiaomi.eu site) for miui ROM .
2)Those are not official. But OTA is there(weekly and monthly)Go to the site and read about more OTA facts.
3)You can flash other miui ROM(from miui official site) and other custom ROM by that tw.r.p.But in the case of custom ROM(like lineage) u may face isuues. So flashing custom ROM by t.w.r.p(found in XDA by kumajay sir) is best.
But reflashing Different t.w.r.p is not so irritating bcz there is option of flashing image file in both t.w.r.p.

In your third point, you mentioned that I can flash the official MIUI from the official MIUI forums. So, if I just download the recovery MIUI 8 ROM from the official forums of MI, it'll work?
My question is, if I need to flash a fastboot ROM after doing the above steps, will I face the same issue of me getting a Kitkat based ROM instead of a Lollipop based ROM? Also and this is something that I have always wanted to try but because of fear of my device getting bricked and I never tried, what happens if I flash the official MIUI recovery ROM from kumaya sir's twrp build? Will that do the trick? If it is, how do I do it?

Oops.... I have misinformed u a little accidentally.
What is your need ?
To be on lolypop firmware? Or trying miui ROM.
There are two types of miui ROM(I am only talking about recovery flash able) on miui official site. Global and developers.
U can't flash any global ROM by any custom recovery (like t.w.r.p) for sign. Issue. You have to flash it by stock recovery.
U can flash developers ROM by t.w.r.p(me) found on xiaomi.EU site or miui site.
Just take back up of your current ROM before doing anything.ANd u will be fine.
But I suggest you to try miui ROM by xiaomi.eu .Bc they're far better than official miui .
And also if u flash official miui rom and then u want flash custom ROM again .Then u have to root it and flash t.w.r.p again as it is not rooted and it come with stock recovery.
But miui ROM by xiaomi.eu is prerooted and come with t.w.r.p.
Is your Redmi 2 the 1GB version? If yes, stick in KK or upgrade to custom ROMs. I tried to use a LP MIUI and it wasn't a good experience. The low RAM + MIUI + Lollipop really brings performance lags. I was on Xiaomu.eu's MIUI 8.1 + Premaca Kernel MK for KitKat and now I'm at RR 5.8 + Premaca's Cosmos kernel. Both are good to RAM.

since you mentioned that the roms at xiaomi.eu are better, in what respects are they better? What are the major differences?
To answer your earlier question, I want the lollipop firmware, I flashed the MIUI 8 official ROM based on lollipop, but I got Kitkat instead of Lollipop. I flashed MIUI 7 based on Kitkat and MIUI 7.5 based on Lollipop, updated them via OTA to MIUI 8 and still,it was on Kitkat. I just want MIUI to be on lollipop so that i can flash other mods which I can't on a Kitkat based ROM. My bootloader came unlocked and it was unlocked when I did all this(i checked it just to be sure).

I have a Redmi 2 Prime(2GB + 16 GB). I flashed RR based on Nougat but I faced a lot of random reboots and since sound is a top priority for me, the sound output was bad, both via the headphone jack and the speaker. How is Premaca's Cosmos Kernel with RR? Can you give me an in-depth review on the following areas:- sound, performance, battery(with/without heavy usage) and any unique features that you find great(I'm aware of the customization options that come with RR,so in that area, i don't doubt it)?

Better for me ....As...No Chinese apps,Rooted,5-5.15 hrs sot on LTE.More free RAM(though doesn't matter). But RAM management is good and not sluggish on heavy usage. And of course Volte.
Look....if u want just to be on lolypop firmware....just flash it .You will not regreat. ...I am sure.
There are other options also to be on lolypop firmware:-
U can flash lolypop firmware from lineage OS.(try it first).
U can flash also miui Hellas by gkalen.

Sound: Great (louder than stock)
Performance: Very good
Beauty: OMG!
Stabilty: a issue here: The phone reboot or power off at night (I don't know exactly happens, I just see the phone off, with charging screen. So, I can't use it as alarm clock). I will try RR with only stock kernel (not cosmos) to see if it persists.
I like the ROM. It's surprisingly light. I'm using 2 Whatsapp (through Parallel Space), Facebook Lite, Spotify and I doesnt have the "kill spotify" issue. When I was at MIUI, opened Spotify, opened Swipe/Whatsapp, the Spotify simply was wiped from memory. Yes, I couldn't listen a music and take a look in facebook. In the RR 5.8 I can do this without issues.

Mi Max 3 MIUI 10 Global Stable version V10.0.1.0.OEDMIFH

Hi all, the mi forum just released the MIUI 10 Global Stable version V10.0.1.0.OEDMIFH for mi max 3. Since it’s a beta release they only pushed to random users.
I’ve tested on my mi max 3 with MIUI Global 9.6.6.0 and it’s working. For users who have antirollback enabled, I’m not sure if it’s working as my device does not have antirollback enabled. Just wanna share this with all the mi max 3 users who’s suffering signal issues like me.
Below is the link: (Official Link)

I'd say comparable to global 9.6.6.0, depends on use, some 9-15h of sot, but its early, have to wait a few days
So flash and lock this fastboot rom on China beta 8.9.20 will brick device?
I should chose flash all ?
Impossible install with twrp. **** YOU XIAOMI
Does it also have network issues?
I just saw this update. I have global stable 9.6.6. I have only used OTA updates sincere I bought the phone online with an unofficial global ROM. but have been having issues with calls and data. I was planning on flashing the Chinese ROM before I saw this as it was said to solve the problem.
Just want to clarify if this version also has the network issue or should I just go ahead and flash the Chinese ROM?
Hallo.
I have the China Beta Rom MiUI 10 8.10.18 Beta.
How I can update to the Global Rom? Fastboot?
I can confirm I managed to flash this on CN version of MI MAX 3. Cheers for the links

The same way you flashed the chinese rom, the only difference is that you need to leave the bootloader unlocked by selecting the Clean All option in MiFlash

can't install EU rom

I bought a second hand mi6 ceramic. Looks perfect. I think it’s a china phone. I have experience with unlocking and flashing Xiaomi phones but run into trouble with this phone. I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP. I tried to install the EU rom. But everytime I do that it hangs at first startup. I Installed a newer version than that was on the phone (10.2) . I installed both teh stable and weekly, both the same. With the Xiaomiflashtool I went back to its first state (both global and china rom). I don’t understand what I am doin wrong. Someone an idea? Thanks in advance.

I have same issue. Also mi6 ceramic edition and phone won't boot on xiaomi eu roms. I thing something must be with rom and phone because i have few years experience with android flashing and now what's i do.
I my case this looks that.
Flash xiaomi eu and wipe in twrp, phone won't boot.
After back to offical rom flashed by fastboot flash_all offcial rom won't boot but when i make wipe data on offcial recovery phone back to life.

thanks all. i have kept trying with different version of twrp but indeed nothing works. I give it up now.
install TWRP
Wipe all data (includes storage)
Copy rom zip to phone and install
or sideload install
I have exactly the same issue, I'm trying to change rom due to main microphone issue on Global stable, someone have any suggestion?
I notice that some rom need a specific miui firmware preinstalled before flash the new rom (like lineage OS), I think that the system partition have a certain influence, maybe flash eu rom over global stable is wrong, some one have try flash over developer or weekly?

My Redmi Note 7 Repeatedly Freezes.

My xiaomi redmi note 7 device is currently running Android 11 Lineage OS 18.1, and I've been facing an issue in which the phone just freezes randomly, and I'm unable to use it until I force a restart. I faced a similar issue when I was using Cherish OS A12 but it was less frequent. Does anyone have an idea on what the problem could be or how to fix it?
One day something similar happened to me, I recommend you flashing the original firmware of the Redmi Note 7, you can download it from mi community.
I was using cherish, and i didn't have any problem. Before you flash the original firmware, i recommend you to try Project Arcana, it is a good custom rom

UPDATE
I have since flashed the latest firmware and the issue still persists. I also flashed the fastboot ROM of the device to have a fresh start per se, but the issue still returns when I install a custom ROM. Currently on Project Arcana OS, and it's still happening. I have decided to use the ROM without Magisk, because it seems to be the only thing I haven't tried yet, and there haven't been any freezes for almost 24 hours now. I will update this if it happens again.
