The Google Camera app is the same eversion for all Google phones. They'll probably update it in Play store when they release the phone

think he talked about the leaked APK on XDA article.

Enjoy the new camera app.

You can long press the camera button to record video, but it crashes the app on my pixel 2xl.

Just think of it as a continuous 30 fps burst.
With audio.

On the Pixel 2 the app crashes the instant you attempt to use the slider to manually change exposure.

have you checked out gcam repo? they have modded gcam apk's, there is a nearly fully working for the old htc 10, im sure newer phones have a better chance of finding one

Stock camera from SGS4 and HTC One Google edition - with working Photo Sphere

Source
Also boot animation and awesome live wallpaper.
Just tried the camera, everything works, including Photo Sphere. It gets hot! Haven't played with the settings, but i think stock XZ camera has better image quality.
Does it have the s4's camera interface or aosp interface?
Sent from my C6603
AOSP, it is a "Google edition" after all.
Does it have HDR?
How's the quality of the images compared to the stock camera?
Scene, white balance, exposure, panorama, photo sphere, video recording, front camera. All it has, pretty simple. The only thing it may be useful is photo sphere or if you like the interface. The stock gallery is also included.

Then don't use it. I haven't installed it myself, but the article says it runs alongside your current camera anyway, so you're losing nothing.
I'm sure quite a few people will install it just for the photosphere mode that Sony didn't include in their 4.2.2 camera in any case.

The 'Camera JB+' that costs £1.49 on the Play Store? I don't see how that pertains to you saying that the camera linked to by the OP has lots of problems.....

I have been playing around with this camera app for a few hours now and aside from photosphere it is quite a poor app in comparison to the quality of photos it produces. I will still keep it installed as I will use photosphere occasionally. It can never replace Sony's app in my opinion.
Edit. Also volume key takes photos which could be useful.

this is a really neat app in that it does photospheres and timelapse, it's not the same as the camera jb+ as that also has the video effects enabled..
Nothing wrong with having different tools, for different purposes
Been playing around with app.
Seems scene settings are slightly messed up and picture quality is not as good as stock camera. No HDR option. But photosphere works.
As for volume key for taking pics, there is a mod already that does that with our stock camera and even can quick launch the camera. (needs root)

Google Camera and HDR+

I know some devs have succesfully ported pixel camera for nexus devices to allow HDR+. Is it possible to do the same for the LGV20 so that we can also expirience that HDR+ software?

So this question really irked me, in a good way of course. Whilst studying for my history exam, I was thinking that HDR+ is essentially software based. The Pixel's camera's specs are kinda mediocre aside from the 1.55um sensor—only f2.0 aperture and no OIS; the best part about the camera is the software to back it all up. So, I looked around to see if you could potentially port the camera app itself, which might have the correct algorithm for HDR+. I came across a dev who made the app Camera NX, which in essence is a port.
So here is a brief overview of the app.
And here he explains how the HDR+ has zero shutter lag.
What really got my attention is the following quote:
This mod is just an update to Chow's Camera NX app, which itself is a port of the Pixel's stock camera app and libraries. What that all boils down to is that you don't even need to be rooted to get Zero Shutter Lag with HDR+ mode right now.

Anyways, since I do not own an LG V20 (I hope to soon, once my Note 4 contract expires), you'll have to do most of the testing and report back, if that's alright. Nonetheless, I hope this was helpful!
Thanks for the reply. I did come across that apk and installed it. It does work as a camera but unfortunatly there is no HDR+ present. There is exposure setting and whitebalance toggles. The other problem i notice is that the slow motion seems worse quality then what is found on the stock app. By all means i am no expert bit if any one else has feedback or have tested this themselves and see improovements or HDR+ present let us all know.
Unfortunately I haven't found Google Camera to work on the V20;it works good on the note 5 though...weird. Stinks because there is no option to make photo-spheres with the V20 .
scrap that. I just downloaded the latest from xda...no problems!

actually the hexagon dsp on the snapdragon 820/821 does the heavy lifting for hdr+ which works different between the pixels and the 5x/6p. the latter ones only can do software hdr+. there was an interesting post on reddit about this. currently also searching for a modified google camera app as camera nx is only modified for the nexus phones. the lg g5 and v20 are very much capable of what the pixel does.
It probably isn't as simple as that. But have you tried changing the build.prop to identify the phone as a pixel?
I can't try myself as I don't have root access.

Except Google camera app is not available in the store with stock LG V20 software.
Does anyone know if it's possible to use the pixel camera mod with the wide angle lens? I'm not sure how you would put the ability to switch from regular to wide in the app but is there any way to have it default to the wide angle lens instead of the regular one?

There are reports of the app using the wide lens and for others it uses the regular narrow one. For me on my h918 it uses the regular narrow lens. There is no button for switching like on the stock LG camera so as of right now I'm not aware of any way to switch between them.
I've found nice GCam mode suitable for V20

Using Google Camera 4.2.035.141213305 on Oxygen OS 4.0(N) OTA

I was hoping for improved camera software with the new Oxygen OS 4.0(N) OTA release. To my chagrin there seemed to be no improvements made, so as an alternative I downloaded and installed Google Camera 4.2.035.141213305 (arm64 version for Android 7.1+)
Get it by clicking on the link below:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...amera-4-2-035-141213305-android-apk-download/
The Google camera app AI appears to be better at determining optimal settings on the fly. The in app photo sphere, panorama, and lens blur features are nice additions too.
I found that if you have the time to make HQ, HDR, and manual mode adjustments, you can still get better pictures with the stock Oneplus version 1.4.0 camera app than the Google Camera app. but most users simply want to point and shoot.
When I give my 3T to a novice to take a picture, or when I need to to take a quick picture in a pinch, I find the Google Camera app takes better photos.
The app works beautifully, aside from the fact I can't get it to open using the button shortcuts after setting it as the default camera app.
Download the Google Camera 4.2.035.141213305 (arm64 version for Android 7.1+) app, and tell me what you think.
If you encounter button launch problem too, let me know, or come up with a solution.
When I try to install on my OP3T with OS 4.0 I get an error stating there was a problem parsing package. Installed Google Camera 4.1 without issue though.

Only tried with double tap to the power button and it works. Still rather sad though because no Auto-HDR+ like I was hoping. Still adjusting to the non-nexus life since my Nexus 5x bricked. (^_^)
How were you able to launch 4.2 ?it requires android 7.1 ! (we only have 7.0)
use this
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...06-126161292-2-android-apk-download/download/
You can unpack an APK file change the min version required and repack and install the APK. Although, I'm assuming that the min version requires 7.1 for a valid reason such as a required framework/library or something...
or here for 4.2 version 7.0

Google Camera 4.2.035.141213305 is working, but the spherical photo shoots without focusing.
I like using the double-tap power button to start the camera. Did anyone get the Google camera to open this way? Which version is recommended for OOS 4.1?
The google camera doesn't even have an option to mirror images taken with the selfie cam

Best Camera App for Mi A1?

As It is well known that Google Camera app works only Root, is there any other better camera app without Root? What about Samsung Note 8's camera app? I've tried the one plus 5 app. The results have very minor difference.

my only answer:
for daylight with plenty of light - the stock camera app
for lowlight and HDR mode - GCam HDR+ (no other camera app can replicate how this one does)
:cyclops: I already tried those "other" camera app and paid the premium version.. still GCam wins

Yes I understood that, Hangouts and Snapchat I think don't use HDR, my theory is that there's a cracked solder joint on the main camera unit and with HDR turned on in the main camera app it is compensating for the lines.
