1. Background
Globally, approximately 1.3 billion people live with some form of visual impairment. For young people, the leap into the adult world is challenging enough. You’re figuring out who you are and who you want to be, what your next steps in life are, while at the same time trying new things and dipping your toes into new experiences. But for the visually impaired, the ramifications are enormous, touching almost every aspect of the way they live, work and play.
HONOR partnered up with Eyecoming to develop an AI-Enabled APP exclusively (English Version) for HONOR 20 PRO. The APP works like a typo-scope which helps the Visually Impaired community to read text better and convert text to speech in real-time. Together, we are able to help the visually impaired navigate, read and live life more easily, giving them the tools they need to see the world around them, and more importantly, giving them the confidence to believe in themselves and follow their dreams.
2. HONOR 20 PRO & Eyecoming APP
Based on Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology provided by HiAI (enabled by the dual NPU of Kirin 980), HONOR 20 PRO’s Eyecoming Magnifier recognizes and converts text to speech more accurately and faster in real time. Simply just take a photo of the text, the APP will convert to speech immediately. It supports up to seven languages, including English, Chinese, Italian etc. Moreover, HONOR 20 PRO’s superior camera experience enabled by 48MP/Telephoto/OIS can enhance the experience to allow for clearer viewing.
The main functions provided by the APP include:
• Converting text to speech simply by taking the photo of the text;
• Different filters to choose from for better viewing;
• Zooms in and magnifies the text in front of them;
• Customized LED light for HONOR 20 PRO for more convenience
3. Recruitment Requirement
HONOR would like to recruit a young HONOR fan who is also facing similar troubles in their life. We would like to let them try out the APP with the HONOR 20 PRO to see how this makes a difference in his or her life. His or her unique story may also be featured in our communication materials in September and later on.

Has anyone else seen this UI?

The enabling UI technology was Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). With WPF we could rapidly build something that looks a lot like iPhone in a very short time. I was playing the dual role of a Designer + Developer and tools like Blend and Design greatly helped in skinning the app. Below you can see a bunch of screenshots and a short video of accepting a call.

How was it built?
* Blend and Design were used for creating the skin of the app. The XAML UI was created in Blend and the graphics were developed in Design. I had made a post earlier about how the icons for the app were created in Design.
* The GlassWindow control was used for creating the window chrome.
* Although you cannot see in the screenshots above, the Drag 'n' Drop library was also used
* I missed out using the ElementFlow, but that can be easily added. I only need to find a business case for that
This example only goes to show how powerful WPF can be. With greater tool support from Blend + Design, lot can be achieved in a far lesser time. Now until I get my own iPhone, I will continue to use the WPF version
Didnt know you could get WPF on win mobile, would be nice to see it used to do something other than clone the iPhone though
iPhone is overrated. It was a fad, we dressed our pdas up for a while, but its tiring. I feel for iPhone owners who actually have to deal with it everyday.
If you look on the link you provided in your first post, you'll see a video that shows this is not running on a mobile but on a desktop. WPF is a component of Vista, and the app probably runs in an emulator of some kind (you can see a mouse cursor in the vid).

3D-Interface for Windows P7 - Work-Shop

Hello to All!
I started some Workshop about Future of Mobile Windows Devices for
- Interface and OS and
- Hardware-Sugegstions
and i want to invite all of you to be Part of this and add your Concepts, Comments and Ideas.
In my Powerpoint-Presentation i worked out some Concept for A 3D-Interface for Explorer, Messaging, Filereader and some Applications-Manager (instead of A Homescreen). Here is the Link, this is about 20MB, because i put in A Lot of Screenshots and Sketches of my Idea.
Within this, you can overview everything on the first View - and there you find Illustrations of an animated graphical 3D-Interface for easy exploring with Thumbnails of everything that is running.
My Idea includes A Concept for making Sessions of what you are doing (opened Programms, Web-Sessions, Multimedia-Sessions, Sessions for Volume, -for Settings, so that you can share whole Devices at once, ...).
Everything is presented to you in horizontal-moving Rings with Icons Rows and Thumbnails of Folders-Content:

}
You can preview the Content of A Folder in Background-Icons (Levels) as Thumbnails when you hold your Finger on an Icon,
Menus and Settings and Explorer+ Readers are sorted and put together in 1 Interface - that is my Vision for Windows-Phone 7 Series and later Versions.
-Within the Apps-Manager you watch:
I also want to share with you my Idea of revolutionary Hardware-Features for Windows-Devices and how that could be realized.
Please feel free to let me know your Thoughts for some animated Interface and let's talk about your Suggestions for Future of Windows-Mobile Devices (-Should Win. be more the Way of MP3-Player or of A Tablet-PC?) and please publish Illustrations of your Thoughts and Concepts here, also Comments of the new MS Phone-Concept.
"Let's create Future"
nice job! i really liked the idea.. it's about time that somebody steps up and present a library or an idea compendium of some sort to make things uniform on most apps that comes out of XDA-DEV.. i'll subrscribe to this thread and hope it'll grow and get the attention of our dear developers..
great idea....
Nice work, it will be a nightmare to code though
good luck

A Call to Action !! Windows Phone fans...Smart Watch and/or open Smart Watch support!

Many of you will not know me, or remember me from the HTC HD2 area, or HTC Typhoon days ( by the way Thanks for all the great roms guys !!!!), however I never left Windows Phone, just moved up to a Nokia Lumia 1020.
Any way I have wanted a Smart Watch more then likely longer then most, not important, but being I have always been a Windows Phone user I have been on the outside looking in, like most of you. The Brave Pebble users aside, as they only have 3rd party Support, with 3rd Party coders not given access to allow sms/email/notifications. Microsoft only grants access to OEM, and Pebble is not interested in building for Windows Phone.
Any way things need to change and they need to move forward, but Microsoft for some reason does not see the need to expand beyond The Band. A good bit of kit, but designed for the fitness fans, not for the Smart Watch crowd, as The Band can not do the most basic of Smart Watch........a Watch Face.
Now news has leaked out that during the change of ownership of Nokia's Mobile division, a Smart Watch was to release with the Nokia Lumia 930, Moonraker was it's code name, but Microsoft stopped it's release. I see this is a slap in the face to Windows Phone users/Supporters/Fans, and Should not Stand !!!!
I give you Moonraker.....

Any way I am looking to drum up support, votes, tweets and retweets, hash taggers...and any other way you think you can push a message across to get Microsoft in Gear !!!! To either reverse the nix on the Moonraker or take the wraps off of what ever project they may have in the works for Smart Watch/Windows Phone users.
Links to add support ( but feel free to post your own ideas as well !!!!!!) :

Microsoft User Voice to vote on:
A Call to release anything Smart Watch like, not just The Band
Open Support for 3rd Party, mainly Pebble
Also if you can think of any other ways to draw attention to this, Please post it up and add support. If we don't force the issue Microsoft will not see any need.
Ok thanks for reading!!! Hope you all join in and help raise a fuss

Cloud N7 Watch Review

So I recently received bought another Chinese smartwatch that’s based on the Mediatek MTK6261 system-on-a-chip, which isn’t a very common chip in smartwatches as far as I know. Other than that, the watch supports a variety of different wireless standards such as GSM, Bluetooth 3.0 & 4.0 but that’s about it. These are the full specifications for the watch, and what other features it brings to the table:

The build quality of this watch feels pretty solid, and is better than most other <$50 smartwatches I’ve tried; it’s made out of aluminum and plastic and feels very solid. The band is made out of a leather looking material, but I’m not sure if it’s real leather or not.
So feature wise, this watch brings in some of the common features on Chinese smartwatches like a basic messaging app, remote dialer support and support for notifications. However, it does lack some features some other smartwatches have but it does have some features others don’t such as a heartrate monitor.
The watch comes with a variety of different watchfaces that looks better than on most other china watches, and I especially liked the black analog watchface with white text. The only thing I wish was that there was some better digital ones, as there’s only 1 digital watchface on it.
The firmware of the watch is based off an old phone firmware as far as I know, as there’s some relics that they’ve not removed and sometimes they make the user interface feel a bit clunky. For an example, if you want to set an alarm you have to go through many different menus to do something that simple. Another example is that the keyboard for inputs in the text messaging app is really small, and feels like a keyboard that were initially intended for a bigger screen or a product with a stylus.
So with what said, I’m pretty satisfied with this watch but the firmware is a bit clunky in certain areas of the watch; anyone that own this watch that have found any custom firmware for it or is there a more recent firmware available? I suspect that this is an OEM version of the Flyshark Smartwatch, if I find a way to flash it I’ll try that firmware out.

Best Features of EMUI 5.1

The Honor 8 Pro runs the feature packed EMUI system. This user interface has all sorts of hidden gems that can really improve your experience with this phone. Here are some of my favorite.
Screen Recording
The built in screen recording features saves you from having to install a third-party app. Hold the Volume up and Power button to trigger the screen recording feature.

Phone Manager
The phone manager app has many different optimizations to speed up your phone, as well as security features like virus scan and app lock.
Themes
The theme manger is easy to use while having plenty of customization options to get your phone looking exactly how you want it.
Home Screen Settings
EMUI lets you change the icon grid, screen animations, badge icons and much more.
What is your favorite feature of EMUI?
First thing to do is to disable "App suggestions".
I am totally fed up with being "suggested" what to do. I have a brain and intend to continue using it.
The whole business of looking at what we do in order to sell us more is reaching a point where the world gets divided into sheep who will do what they are told and people who still want to use their own judgement, investigate and find things by themselves. I aim to remain part of the "people" group.
Sorry about the rant but it's getting out of control.
Hii @DrGreenway
I think I saw you at Honor 8 forums
Just a question to ask
Did you own a Honor 8 and is the Pro a good upgrade??
And what is the diference between EMUI 5.0 and 5.1
Couse the things you said as best features of 5.1 are mostly present in EMUI 5.0 and Honor 8
Maybe from me to add that if you are on lock screen and swipe UP from the very bottom
you get some shortcuts ( on Honor 8 )
And it includes a default bar code scanner.. not much but I usually used to install it from play store
