Samsung Galaxy A20 Google Camera - Samsung Galaxy A20 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Can anyone share fully working google camera apk for Samasung Galaxy A20.
Thanks

check here: https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-port-hub/

I ran Camera2 Probe and found that the A20's cameras do not support RAW (DNG) photos.
It's a pity, because the back camera is f1.9.
It makes me wish I had bought the A6.

I've contacted Mike Channon from xda and he told me that we need 40 to 60 threads before we get our own forum.
Collected here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/samsung-galaxy-a20

This port works. The only thing is the wide angle doesn't work.

So we have to be rooted to use that version for OUR phone? Or is the root just for the S10 users?

You do not have to be rooted. It installs just fine and works pretty decent. Portrait mode does not work and the wife angle doesn't work either.

Send that's link

I really dont race for "who's camera better"

[Q] Does Google Cardboard work?

After watching several videos about how awesome this thing is online, I was hooked and totally ready to buy one. However, after reading around, I've noticed some people saying that you can accidentally shut off the screen with the magnet on cardboard. Does anybody own cardboard that can confirm this is in fact an issue? I'm ready to buy this thing, however, that's holding me back. Thanks!
Why would you buy one? There are free plans online to make your own.

I think the OP probably means a kit. I've ordered a kit (ie card template, magnets, nfc tag and lenses) for not much more than the lenses on their own.
With regards to the OP's question, I'll let you know next week as I hope to build it this weekend.
Yes it works wonders on my M8 GPE! No issues whatsoever.
100% of the functionality is there and works correctly

Can you load in HTC camera photo spheres or does it only work with the ones created by android camera?
If so how?
Thanks!

I only have the Google Camera since I have the GPE phone, so I'm not sure.
I have a feeling it will work, though.

It doesn't seem to recognize them. Ive tried changing the name to match that, and make sure its in the same folder as ones from android camera.
Not sure what its looking for. It loads up any i've taken with android camera fine.
I have some cool ones from htc camera of places ill probably never go again and would love to check them out with this.

Yeah I did one on a dirt road in the redwood forests of California and it's great to see through Cardboard!
Probably a different format used by the Android camera I'm guessing, so that could be the issue.

Following up to answer my own question.
Changing the name, and moving the htc camera photo spheres into the same folder as the google ones worked, it just needed to be reloaded.
the name format is PANO_{DATE}_{Image number}.jpg
example PANO_20140718_12345.jpg

Glad you got it working! It would make sense that the Cardboard app just looked it one folder for the panoramas.

So does the Google Cardboard only work with GPE? I've read that the dotview would come on because of the magnet on the Cardboard. And you have to root the phone to disable it...

Yes i too want to know this..there is no video either. Does stock HTC M8 work with google cardboard or does it trigger the htc dot view?
Should work
I don't see why it wouldn't work on stock htc m8.. I had ATT sense with the dot view case, switched to GPE and the dot view case works the same way. Even the same features. So since dot view works with GPE fine and GPE users have confirmed that cardboard works, cardboard should work with sense as well.
Ok thanks for the input..will buy cardboard now
It definitely works on a stock M8.
The magnet doesnt seem to do anything for me. I push it down and release it to select an option in the cardboard app. But it doesnt select anything. Nothing happens. Can someone help?!
Make sure you do it in one quick movement down and back up or it won't make a selection.
Just wanted to say that sincr i updated my GPE M8 to lollipop, the magbetic switch stopped working. Worked 100% perfect before though so i hope there is some update that will fix this.

Oh really? I didn't get my cardboard until after I updated to 5.0, so I just assumed the magnet switch didn't work on the M8, google even list it as so.
That's interesting then...
Whats even further interesting is that the magbetic switch works with some apps. The hobbit VR experience works with the magnetic switch while others dont

Unfortunately Samsung and/or AT&T either did not enable or outright removed the Camera 2 api
which is supposed to allow for RAW capture. That was the one thing I truly looked forward to. Imagine my
disappointment when I later found out that the camera 2 api was not available. If it is simply disabled it
may be possible to fix it. Perhaps one of the more knowledgeable members could answer that question.

Camera would need new drivers. But they are not open sourced...only Samsung has access to it. Unfortunately, I dont see them releasing them because it might hurt S6 sales.

Pretty sure you have to download it.
You can download it in the Galaxy Apps
I can't download it from Galaxy Apps because I got a message that it is not available there. Here is a Link for the Galaxy App.
But you can download it from APKmirror.

Interesting i couldn't find it in galaxy store or in the camera addon download section, but the link worked thanks.
If you going to Samsung store, then go to the settings you will see my apps click it. Then you will see all click that then look for the surround app

It is my first Samsung device, so I have no surround app there. And the APK from APKmirror is not the last version. :crying:
That linked worked thanks! I used the one from the apps store and it was the latest version. Wonder why you can't download it from the camera app itself like all the others??:silly:
Also if you search in the Galaxy app store for "surround shot" nothing comes up, but if you use the link to the app store page posted above it works. It's like Samsung doesn't want you to find it and use it....weird
Thanks for the link, this is a neat feature I enjoyed using.

Thank you guys! Interestingly the gallery app doesn't detect photospheres taken with Google Camera as surround shots like it did on Galaxy S6.
I followed the link and get "Product does not exist in this store". Even though the page and install button show.
They must have removed it.
Clearly pushing for the Samsung Gear 360 camera, which I won't buy if I can't try out that sort of thing at lower quality on my phone (S8+ by the way).
Shame.
I will look for an alternative. Don't really want to root my phone just yet though as I have only had it a couple of weeks.

Hi. Just got my S9+ and trying to use the Surround Shot download. I added it, seemed successful but it doesn't seem to be available Any thoughts? I can't actually find the setting on the phone to turn on/off the Unknown Sources either (albeit it still installed).

Word - same with my S9. It's insane that Samsung doesn't know how functional this feature is. I'd trade a million AR Selfies for one good photosphere

I fully agree! Why does Samsung get away with calling the AR selfies as a new feature of the S9? Clearly this is merely a software gimmick that has little to do with the new hardware.
If no alternative option becomes available for shooting 360 pics on the S9, I'd like to point out that you can also take that type of pictures using the google streetview app.
just know that you're not alone in this battle

Disable camera shutter sound

I googled this when I first got the phone and it seems in Korea they make the phones so you CAN'T disable the shutter sound. (It is illegal)
My work around was to download a silent camera app from the play store for moments when you do not want folks to know you are taking photos. :good:
I rooted mine and changed the shuttersound.ogg to .ogg.bak no more sound.
I think I should root my note..
But I have doubts regarding some "secure" apps could not work cause they chek if the phone is rooted.. I m taljing about bank app, pay tv app (Sky in italy)..
Anyone have a experience with these apps?
Another question, for root permission I understood I have to flash a twrp recovery as well, true?
If one day I want to return "stock", is it sufficient to flash the stock firmware by Odin?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kmshack.mute
I don't know if it works on the new S8 Software, but on my Galaxy S7 with Nougat it works perfectly
In a few days i can test it on my Note FE
Try this!
No need to do any rooting to your Note FE
I live in Korea and there are a lot of application which disable the sound from stock camera.
Copy this word and check it out on ggplay

Read the instructions in the OP here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-fe/development/root-note-fe-t3648736. As rooting involves disabling sm-verity, you will not be able to use any app that requires a fully secure device. Remember to backup your device with TWRP before you modify it.
You can flash stock via Odin when you want to return. Bear in mind that you will lose whatever modification(s) you made to disable the shutter sound.

Well see like the phone recording laws you have to go and look on a per state basis. Just because it can do something doesnt mean it is legal in all cases. Like many places require that you get peoples permission before taking phones at a public event. It all depends on your state.
Yes it is old. But that is on purpose. It was the basics for anyone that wants to know more to start off on.
Works perfect, nearly lost hope to get rid of that annoying shutter sound.

Seriously thats true... it's much easy too. Should we start a request to dev thread or something.
the Instagram mode would be the main reason to port for me. would the port be possible?
Do we know any dev to whom we could ask for
I mean the mods skim and monitor these threads supposedly but they probably won't tag the people they know probably know how to Port stuff
Still wondering about this one.... Like... Gcams cool but can we get a port of our own updated software? Please?

The Galaxy 10's camera allows you to make videos in HDR10+.
So I'd like them to port to Note 9.
First of all the S10 camera has hardware specific features. Secondly, the Samsung camera app is a system app that integrates throughout Samsung's OneUI allowing it to be used from within several Samsung applications seamlessly. Without root or the ability to first remove the stock Samsung camera, you can't install another Samsung camera whether it's ported or not, it won't be allowed to install and be given the system-wide permissions that are required for the camera to function the way the stock N9 camera does. Porting isn't the issue. It's getting around root, kernel DM-verity which will automatically prevent the phone from booting once a system app is modified and it's signature no longer matches. From my experience with this, it's simply not worth the time or effort since we have locked bootloaders and no reliable root method or ability to flash a kernel with DM-Verity disabled which would allow sytstem apps to be modified and/or replaced such as the Samsung Camera.
