Be prepared to open the case if things go wrong though.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll compare the 2 options for root they both seem pretty unpleasant. I thought Android development had gone further with this device.

That is the best option. Also if you want to install LOS14.1 here is the link:

PS: Audio and video are not working. Still in development...

Sorry... I swear it was public when I was done uploading...
Hopefully it is fixed now.
Thanks a lot for this interesting video!
You mentioned 'Instant Messaging' around 15:30. Can I use it to connect to a jabber/xmpp server?

You're welcome.
It is available for Ubuntu Desktop... I've just tried searching for jabber on the phone and returned no useful results. Maybe check with the developers of the IM you are currently using to see if they are going to release a version.
Pity.
Yes, I already made a feature request for an Ubuntu Touch version. Hope they will consider. To me jabber/xmpp is essential.
does somebody know, when exactly tommorow the build will be released and where to download it?

I'm sure it's going to be a media event... As for where you can download it, from Canonical's servers, of course.
LOL no advance word leaked that I can find. I'll wait for tomorrow. Maybe I'll get it as an OTA.
  nice
just nexus and nexus 4

I believe Telepathy is being used for the SMS, which means that it just needs the plugins to support different protocols and a UI to manage it.
Looks great, tried to put it on my Nexus 4 and failed.

Did you follow the Wiki?
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install
Are you using a dedicated Ubuntu Box or a Virtual one? Or are you flashing from recovery?
What version of UT were you attempting?
Details might help us figure out what you need to make it work.

oh sure! no problem.
Does this allow us to get OTA in the future? I seem to recall we need everything, including the kernel, to be stock to receive OTA's in the future. Does this root method mess with the kernel?
Nice, what do you think about the performance and the graphics on the table ?, did you recommend to change for the shield portable to the tablet ?, seriously i dont know what to do, i love my shield portable but i want to have the latest tegra

I made a quick spreadsheet with a few benchmarks. Check out the 3dMark FPS for your answer. Graphics wise it is much better.
Awesome. Can't wait to go home and root this bad boy. BTW is there gonna be a dedicated for for this. This looks like a promising device and I believe a lotta devs are gonna get their hands on this.
Thanks! Root and SU installation went very smoothly.

I'm afraid you'll need root to do that. And since the new Fire 8 can't be rooted.. you just can't.
